This is a set of fics for the Colloyd Week prompts from Colloyd Week 2023, a year behind but posted on the right day in June like I did with the Colloyd Week 2022 prompts last year.

Fic for the day one prompt of Colloyd Week 2023, "Wings". Colloyd Week is organised by Darkhymns on Tumblr and Twitter.

Post game fic featuring Regal, Lloyd, Colette and Genis. Set in the same timeline as the fics I wrote for Colloyd Week 2019 Day 4, "Protection", and Colloyd Week 2020 Day 2 "Outfit Swap/Role Reversal" in which Lloyd and Colette help design mascots for the Altamira amusement park and help make costumes of them. You don't need to have read them for this to make sense, just to know that they did that.

Disclaimer: I don't own Tales of Symphonia

Regal wasn't surprised that some of the paper samples he'd put on his desk earlier that day had been used to draw on, he'd put them there specifically to see if Lloyd wanted a sketchbook or two made with any of the types of paper. What had surprised him, however, was that his office floor now had a selection of paper gliders scattered across it.

When Lloyd had been doodling on some of the samples Genis had picked a couple of them up too and had thought out loud that some of them seemed like they would be particularly good for making paper gliders with. He'd tested the theory out, had been pleased with the results and somehow a competition to see who could make a paper glider that would fly furthest across the office had started.

The competition had paused when, after being invited to join in, Colette had said that she thought that some of the paper would be good to make the little folded paper animals Sheena had taught her to make with. She'd asked for scissors so she could cut some of the paper into squares and then the process of the flat material being turned into the little creatures that now sat on a low table in the office had fascinated the others so much she'd taught them how to make some too. One of hers had ended up in a glider she'd made and somehow the little paper dog seemed to have managed to have helped her glider reach one of the longest distances across the office of any of the attempts any of them had had. Regal wasn't sure if it was some deliberate placement of the paper animal that somehow made the glider work better, if it had just been luck or if there was some other quality that had made the glider reach such a good distance but he'd been happy to see Colette's pleased reaction to her success. There was still a happy look on her face now, although at the moment it was there because she was having fun colouring in some of the little sketches of a couple of the park mascot characters Lloyd had doodled earlier.

Regal looked over to the door as he heard a knock and George call out to ask if he could enter. He called back that he could then couldn't help but let a small smile appear on his face as George looked confused at the sight of all the paper gliders on the floor.

"I came to see if you needed anything before I finished for the day," George explained, clearly trying to remain professional and not let his curiosity get the better of him.

"You could help judge which of the paper gliders is the best," Regal said, the serious look on his face hiding the playful spirit he felt as he tried not to laugh as George looked even more confused but agreed to help if he could.

The friends collected up the gliders they'd been happiest with, stood in a line at one end of the office and threw them towards the other end of it. Regal had a go last, not really caring if he won or not, just wanting to see the look on George's face when he joined in.

George decided to diplomatically award each of them best glider for a different category, furthest flight, the one which had flown the highest, the neatest made and the best decorated. The latter had undisputedly been Colette's which, along with the little paper dog, she'd added some little designs onto with the pencils she'd been using to colour Lloyd's sketches earlier.

The competition finished, George asked if Regal needed anything else. Looking at the clock Regal thought it might be a good idea to organise dinner, he shared the thought and the growl from Lloyd's stomach confirmed he'd been right. He asked George if he'd take an order for some room service food from the hotel cafe down to them on his way out and, a short time later, George left with an order jotted down on one of the scraps of paper for some of the group's favourite dishes along with requests for some of the new dishes on the menu Regal thought they would like.

When the food arrived and he saw his friends tucking into it happily he was pleased that he'd been right. He moved to pick up a small plate with a cover over it and turned to show it to Lloyd and Colette.

"The latest new menu item you haven't seen yet," he said, lifting the lid to reveal some biscuits with designs of the park mascots they'd created on them. Both of them laughed with delight but then a small frown appeared on Colette's face.

"They're so cute I'm not sure I could eat them," she said.

"They look so delicious I can," Genis laughed playfully, leaning over to grab a couple of the biscuits. Lloyd took some as well and Colette slowly thought about it before taking one herself.

"These are really good, and it's fun to have the mascots on them, makes them unique to the park," Lloyd said.

"I wonder if other mascot food would be possible, although it would need to be themed and not too cute maybe, so it wouldn't be sad to eat it," Colette said, looking at her biscuit which she'd still not bitten into.

"Maybe something with things in their colours?" Genis thought out loud. "There's vegetables and salad things I can think of in those colours that would work together."

The mage grabbed one of the pieces of paper from the small, dwindling pile that was left and started jotting down ingredient ideas.

"The icing on these biscuits would work on those sweet pastry dessert things the food booth by the ferris wheel sells, you could use those on top of them as well as offering the regular colours to make mascot colour scheme themed ones too," Lloyd said, a hungry look on his face as he imagined how nice that would taste. "What time is that cart open until again?"

Regal laughed then assured Lloyd that, as president of the company, he would be able to get some of those for them later even if the booth had closed to regular customers.

The smile stayed on his face as Colette joined in with contributing to the ideas and the group ended up creating ideas that could make a small menu of mascot items. It was a bit silly, a bit crazy, but Regal could imagine that the novelty might well be very popular with the park's guests, especially as the ingredient combinations all sounded very good.

He looked at the pile of notes about the food on the table, the paper gliders around the office and some of the photos on the wall of the mascot costumes doing fun things and found himself thinking that, by now, he should know not to be surprised by silly things when Lloyd and Colette were around.
