An: Hope y'all like this one as well
Waking up sitting in front of a desk a young man who looked just over twenty-five years old was confused, his blue eyes took in every detail of the desk and room which did not have much to identify anything other than the room was pearl white and the desk was a fresh wood pine maybe.
He was confused mostly by the fact that he should be in bed, and when he noticed that he was wearing clothing instead of his normal boxers.
The next thing that he noticed was that he had long brown hair which should be impossible as a bad prank on him, his cousin had meant to splash him with water and flick a match at him but someone swapped the glass with PGA, when the match hit his hair he had just had time to jump into a pool and saved from getting burns on his face but could no longer grow hair.
"Ahh you are early," came a man's voice from across the desk.
The man at first was blurry but after a few seconds his form cleared up and the young man winced as the man across from him now looked like Chuck from Supernatural.
"So you are rewriting your universe after Jack took the one you had built and kicked you out ?" the young man asked.
This question caused the Chuck look-alike the look confused for a second before laughing, "No that's not what I brought you here for, and thank you for not seeing me as Morgan Freeman, after that damn Jim Carry movie came out people started seeing me as him before that it was random family members."
"Okay, so you would be like one of those random omnipotent begins that fan fiction writers started using?" the young man asked.
Chuck nodded slowly, " That's close to what's going on here but unlike the main characters you don't choose the starter packet it's chosen when you get here, if you take the offer you are sent to a place chosen randomly," sliding a sheet of paper across the desk he taps it.
"This is the starters package you get once you touch it the list fills out then you get to choose to go on or return to the point where we picked you up with no memory of this meeting," Chuck said.
The young man looked at the paper and then Chuck, " So I get an option?"
Chuck nodded, " Yes I will tell you that there are many different types of companies in the multiverse, some run jump chains, those are purely for the higher beings' entertainment, and others use agents to bring balance to the universe they take missions in, and then there is the company I work for we are a mix of the other two, the other two companies use their jumpers or agents to get excess energy from the person soul in the jumpers case and the agents traveling between worlds to gain power over time, we, on the other hand, hook into the afterlife and pull random souls from the rebirth process," Chuck informed the young man.
Hearing the part about the afterlife and rebirth the young man sank into the chair he sat in, " I'm not going back to bed then?"
Chuck gave a small shake of his head, then looked over a sheet of paper at the side of his desk, "I'm afraid not, the foundation of the home you lived in gave way, you died after the house fell in on you,"
The young man looked up, " That house was less than a year old,"
"The foreman cut corners when that subdivision was started two other houses fell in only you were killed the other people were out of town," Chuck said reading some more.
The young man again looked at the paper, "So I get a choice after the list is filled out if I don't like the way it turns out? "
"Yes the choice is yours the company has already received the power from bringing you here, the list of things and possible powers depends on the amount of energy that came with you as the company pulled you here, " Chuck said
The young man sat there for a few minutes before finally picking up the paper, as his fingers touched the paper it flashed gold causing Chuck's eyes to widen, gold meant high energy retrieval.
After the flash died down the the paper had writing on it now, Chuck took the paper and began to read.
"Home Base size ten miles with home and food stocks and drinks unlimited. Participants may choose a home style, a world gate is provided to allow participants to exit the reality and return, and servants are provided in the form of genderless androids.
Powers: Technomancy, the level of the power is based on the level of the participant's given reality.
Secondary powers, Magic of the Harry Potter universe up to mastery of the entire magical system from its universe.
Tertiary powers, adaptation, the participants are given the physical body of the race that is or was the highest level of the reality if multiple options are in the reality the participants may choose, note that this is a one-time use power.
Items, ore veins placed on the property of the participant this item provide minerals needed, metals come in ranks are common rare legendary, and mythical.
Companion, Participants may choose one companion, the companion shall be a clone of the chosen person, they will be loyal to the participant, the companion will share the first and second power and automatically become the same physical form chosen." Chuck read out set the paper down then looked at the young man waiting for his answer.
"Wow that's a lot I need to think about this," he said then sat back in the chair.
In his mind, he was thinking furiously, I'm dead and can either go back to be reborn randomly or take this chance to live as I want now.
Firstly the home he could choose one modeled after the one like Tony Stark's house but use technology from Star Trek mostly for the replicators mainly for creating the components needed for the technomancy power.
The second power would allow many options to work with in many situations, adaption would have to wait for him to get to the reality to know what to do with it.
For the companion, he could think of many people mostly women that would be great to have along with him, it took him the longest time to think about who to choose as a companion.
Finally, he narrowed it down to Hermione Granger her mind would help him a lot as well and her looking like Emma Watson wasn't too bad of an option.
"Alright, I'll take the deal, can you tell me where I am going to be sent or is that randomly selected when I go?" he asked.
"It is random since you have an island in the seas of time you will be sent there first and finish your set up, the companion will join you as soon as you get there after you fill out the order form, " Chuck said sliding a new piece of paper across to him.
The young man took the paper and filled in the information for a basic Hermione, physically and mentally aged to match his apparent age, the only thing he changed was her hair he had it changed to be smooth and silky to the middle of her back, after filling out the paper he passed it back.
Chuck looked over the paper nodded then added it to the power and items list after stamping both, "Enjoy your adventure and new life, you will wake next to the gate in your new body Hermione will wake when you do, once you wake up you will instinctually understand your powers and how the gate works, the house will be ready and waiting for you the staff of androids all come with programming to carry out their jobs, also our company has a deal with the other companies and provide a cell phone that will activate when or if you have achieved a feat of great importance to the reality, they will offer you a position to be an agent or jumper but being originally from our company we will advise you to which company is best suited for you."
The young man nodded and stood holding out his hand, "Thank you for the opportunity, "
Chuck took his hand and shook it, "You have to choose a name as well that's the one thing we can not let you keep I'm sorry to say but it is the first thing lost after death,"
The young man nodded it hadn't occurred to him that he did not remember his name and most of his personal life but he did remember some of the stuff from TV and books.
"Marcus, if I need a last name I'll pick one," Marcus said feeling the name cover him after speaking it.
"Well Marcus enjoy your adventure, ah before I forget there is a mark on your soul, this mark has only one purpose it lets our system know you have been chosen and accepted the offer, this will tell the system not to pull you out of the reincarnation cycle for a million years, this keeps us from overpowering a soul," Chuck added before gesturing to a door that appeared on a wall.
He grasp the door knob and hesitated for a second before turning it and pulling it open then stepping through and then everything went black.
An unknown amount of time Marcus sat up gasping for breath as he remembered the door and meeting with Chuck, after a few moments his breathing settled, getting to his feet he looked around the island reminded him of a smaller version of the main island in the Hawaiian island chain.
When the gate came into his view he smiled it was a large silvery ring that reminded him of a chevron free Star Gate standing on a raised platform, as he looked at the gate he felt something try to connect with his mind.
Another gasp and groaning from behind him, he turned to find Hermione sitting up and looking around, when her eyes found him she smiled.
"Hello how should I address you, by name, Sir or master? " she asked while standing, his eyes followed her every movement, the main reason for that is that she was completely naked, it wasn't until a wind blew that her realized he was naked a well.
"By name I don't need a slave or servant, you are a living thinking being unlike the androids that will care for the house and island," he told her receiving a smile.
"Okay Marcus, thank you for choosing me as your companion, I hope we can work well together," she said before turning in the direction of the house.
"We should go look around the house first and see if we have clothing and give the orders for the androids," she said before walking off to the house giving him a view of her backside.
After a second of watching her walk, he shook himself and then followed her to the house, once they got to the house they found an aqua-blue humanoid figure standing just outside the main doors.
"Welcome home master and mistress the house is ready for you both, it has the master bedroom with an attached bath on the top of three above-ground levels and four guest bedrooms on the floor below the master suite the ground floor holds the kitchen and dining room on the left past the living room, and a library and practice room to the right, underground you have a potions and chemistry labs as well as a mechanical shop with an industrial replicator modeled on the ones from the ship known as the USS Enterprises D, each room has a home model replicator that can generate anything you may want, the kitchen is fully stocked with food and cooking utensils," the android said in a monotone voice.
Marcus nodded then looked to himself and then to Hermione, "Very well, we will get some clothes for now change nothing,"
The Android turned without a word and entered the house, Marcus and Hermione followed it inside and then up a set of stairs, at the top floor, they found a large room that covered nearly the entire top floor of the house.
The room had an open view of the island, the walls were made of glass or something like glass, and there was a large bed against the only wall not see-through.
On either side of the bed were open doors, through the doors they found a large closet for clothes, at the back of the closet was another door that led to a bathroom.
The bathroom had a large bathtub sunken into the floor, he could see jets to circulate the water, there was also a large shower with rainfall heads and three sides of the shower had bars with holes to add spray from all three sides, along a wall was a mirror above a long sink with silver flat bar spigots.
As he was looking around the bathroom Hermione was looking at a panel on the wall of the closet and poking the panel, "Please state your request," said a pleasant female voice.
"Take my measurements then provide satin undergarments a pair of denim jeans and a blouse, socks, and tennis shoes," Hermione said then waited as a light ran over her body the opening beside the panel gave a musical tone, and flash of light leaving a set of clothes.
As Marcus exited the bathroom he found Hermione pulling on the freshly made panties giving him another view as she was bent over to get them on.
"These things are handy, if my original had one of these I doubt the group would have had a hard time during the hunt," she said after pulling the panties up then she sat to pull on her new socks then jeans, she had to stand then give a few hops to get them over her bum as the jeans were a tight fit.
Marcus was momentarily distracted by her breast bouncing in the bra, "Yeah handy," he said then went through the same process to get clothing, he went with denim jeans as well as a tee shirt and shoes and cotton boxers, all black, he did not notice Hermione checking him out as he had her.
As he was pulling on the boxers he spoke, "So you are aware that you are not the original Hermione Grange? " he asked.
"Yes I am, the Company tried to have the clones think that they were the original but they fought the person who ordered them or went insane and killed themselves, after deciding to not fully copy the original and replacing the ones that could not handle the situation, the company made it a rule to give personality traits and loyalty to the person who ordered the clone, I first woke up and was given a check-up then told what I was and that speech to give," she told him as she went back to the replicator and ordered a light denim jacket.
"Ahh well, I hope you are okay with the situation, I was given the choice to have a companion, I think it is a thing offered to keep whoever is in a situation like this from losing their minds from being lonely or trying to keep it a secret," he said pulling on his jeans.
"I'm fine so far, unlike my original I do not have memories of spending time with Harry and Ron or the rest, it was those attachments that caused the problems, also I do not have to worry about studying everything like she felt she needed, I've been given the knowledge of a master in all forms of magic and technology with the powers just like you," she said
"Yeah, that is a nice bonus, my mind is sort of racing around right now sorting the information right now and so far, interestingly, I can just wave my hand to do stuff," saying that he waved his hand changing her jacket to be a trench coat for a second before it returned to a jacket.
She smirked at him before waving her hand at him changing his clothing to leather, he looked like a Chippendale dancer before it returned to what it originally looked like.
"I'm going to say that if we go to that world things are going to be very interesting but I am hoping that we won't because I would have to use glamour to hide my looks and I am attached to them," she said looking at a mirror then running a hand through her silky smooth hair.
He had to admit that her looks were top-notch, the tight-fitting jeans did show off her figure almost as if they were painted on, licking his lips he let his eyes roam over her before tearing his eyes away and deciding to change the subject.
"We can look around the house and see what we have to work with, I'm not sure where we are going to be placed in the reality I've been assigned, we can use the replicators to make a few bags and use the magic and knowledge that came with it to expand them to hold supplies," he said after pulling on the shirt.
"Alright let's go to the living room and sit down and plan out a few things," she said after a moment.
Nodding he left the closet and room with her at his side they went down to the living room and sat on a couch.
"Before we can do anything we should see if we can find out where we are going," she said
He nodded then looke at the coffee table and spotted a cell phone with a touchscreen and a note, he reached for the phone but couldn't move it, then remembered that Chuck said it would not activate unless he did something major in the reality, then he took the note and read it.
' Marcus
The reality chosen for your placement is the Stargate reality specificity your arrival point will be the ship Dedtiny, and it will be up to you to choose to remain on the ship and claim it as yours, you will arrive in the year 1987, given that you have the ore vein you should be able to fix the ship.
The first time you use the gate will take you to the start point, again I wish you luck in your adventures.
Sinsearly Chuck :)'
Marcus handed the letter to Hermione, "Alright the where and when are known the fun part is that the ship is nearly derelict and possibly drifting between galaxies, it also tells us that we can become Alteran that means a lot of possibilities for further tgings," he said after seeing she had finished reading.
She nodded and lay the paper on the desk as her fingers left it the paper flashed,.
'Adaptation list of choosable races.
Alteran
Human
Goa'uld
Ori
Wraith
Asgard
Nox
Furling...
The list had thousands of races but Marcus had his eyes on Alteran as it was the oldest and best known race for technology, the names after Furling ment nothing to him although Kyrptonian did ring a bell but nothing came to mind.
Tapping the Alteran name it flashed then new writing appeared on the paper,
The Alteran people are the oldest known race for over half of universe after a war between two factions of the race, one faction delving in religion the second faction followed the path of science.
The religious faction took the name of Ori after some of the leaders gained ascension and claimed Godhood, when the scientific faction refused to bow to the Ori fled to the stars and beyond their home Galaxy and traversed the known universe, after twenty million years they found a new home in the galaxy now named Milky Way.
In this new galaxy they built an empire that spread to thousands of worlds growing their race to a few hundred billion people, during their travels the Alteran found a signal buried in the background radiation of the universe.
Once in the new galaxy the top scientists began to build a ship naming it Destiny the ship was launched within ten years of reaching their new home.
The plan was to allow the ship thirty million years to pass before using their best technological advancement the Astria Porta to board it and review the data gathered during it's voyage, but as the years passed the people forgot Destiny and focused on ascension, after twenty-five million more years a virus broke out nearly eradicating the Alteran race , billions died in a few years leaving a few million to flee to a new galaxy using a device to destroy the virus but it had also killed all life throughout the galaxy, using the device a second time the Alteran seeded new life...
He stopped reading the background information until the first evacuation of the Milky Way, " Okay that matches what I remember from the TV shows I just wonder why we are being sent nearly twenty years before the Icarus team is supposed to be boarding the ship?"
"Alternate reality where something happened to the ship that could be harmful to the crew or the timeline is ahead of what you know," she said after some thought.
"That is possible, there are so many possibilities it would give me a headache to try and make sense of it," he said
"Okay now we need to put together a list of things we will need to have on the ship, with expanded bags we can take a lot of supplies," she mused
"Yeah the fun part is building a shield generator to cover a ship up to a thousand or more meters long, that was always one of the problems the crew faced and life support," he replied
"Some of that won't be much trouble, the gate will allow us to come and go between here and the ship, so let's say we build the shield generator and work on the ship over time coming back here to rest and relax," Hermione suggested.
"That'll work we could also add a repair charm component to the shield it can use ambient energy to power it I doubt it would do more than repair the hull," he said thinking out loud.
"Environmental suits as well, if the hull is too badly damaged we may need those, tools will have to wait until we get there because we could get the type wrong and do more damage," Hermione added.
"Ummm if I am right the Alterans use drones for that, we just need to get the schematics for them from the computer," Marcus mentioned after a moment.
They sat for a few minutes trying to figure out what else they might need to take.
"I think we should get the environmental suits made first and then go to the ship to assess its needs," Hermione said after a bit.
"Yeah that may be best," he said standing up and looking around the room.
It was a nice setup with the walls of clear glass on three sides and a solid wall holding a very large flat-screen TV, if he was right it was seventy-two inches across and nearly the same top to bottom.
The furniture around the room was all high-quality and comfortable looking, most of the items were off-white while the tables were mahogany with varying shades of staining.
"Umm, the android didn't happen to say where the machine shop was did it?" Marcus asked
Before Hermione could answer the pleasant female voice called out, " The machine shop is in the basement, the stairs leading down are under the landing of the second floor, the machine shop is on the right side of the stairs going down and the potions and chemical labs are on the left, "
Marcus jumped when the voice spoke then looked around the room for the source, "Who is this?"
"The computer systems that guide the android servants as well as answer your queries," the voice answers.
"Ahh okay that will help, please have the chef put out a light meal, use the food from the stocks,"
"Acknowledged," the computer replied.
Marcus turned to Hermione "Shall we?" he asked holding out an arm eliciting a giggle from her.
"We shall," she said taking his arm and walking with him to the basement and the machine shop, the shop had all the tools one would find in a normal shop as well as a few tools neither could name.
One corner was taken up with a large table with four manipulator arms that had many joints to allow the arms to take any angle.
They looked around the room with smiles, "Well if I ever get bored i can use this place to make stuff rather than use a replicator to just make it."
Hermione nodded as she went to the large table and found another panel like the replicator in the closet.
"We can use this to make our suits, they will be bulky but manageable at least to get scans and access the computer to get a list of what we will need to repair and replace," she said bringing up the schematics for the suits.
Marcus joined her at the now identified industrial replicaror noticing that the table was expandable to cover up to at least half of the shop.
"Okay we'll order up two then go eat, the computer has our measurements and the androids can move them when we are ready to go," he said looking over the display.
Nodding she tapped out the command to build two suits using their measurements on each, "It will take an hour to build them then we can go,"
They watched as the table expanded to dubble it's size and the arms moved rapidly the tips glowing with beams of light as they moved they could see the suits being made layer by layer almost like one of those 3D printers that use melted plastic just a lot faster.
After a few minutes the left the shop and went back upstairs to find the dining room table set with the items needed to make sandwiches, after making a sandwich using a few slices of ham roastbeef and a single pastrami and a lite spread of mayo on white bread Marcus slowly ate as he planned what to do next.
"Computer are there any schematics in the replicator database for TriQuarters?" he asked.
"Yes the database holds a great deal of data on Star Fleet equipment, it will take seventy-two hours to review the entire database and give you a list of all relevant information."
Marcus nodded, "Alright begin the scan and reorder the database into type and then give me a list of weapons,"
Hermione was listening and frowned, " Why the weapons, the TriQuarter I understand,"
"There is chance of aliens boarding the ship is high if it is in a hostile galaxy, there was a group of aliens that followed Destiny for over a hundred years trying to understand it, they would just scan it and occasionally board until the Icarus team showed up, after learning that the humans were from the origin galaxy of Destiny they attacked the crew, I don't know what happened after the crew drove them off it's kinda fuzzy up here," he explained then tapped his forehead.
"Ahh yeah, I can get that, I think we can get the data we need for the shields and drones to repair the ship," she said
Standing after his third sandwich he picked up his glass of sweet tea and left the room for the living room and its couch that was more comfortable than the stiff dining room chairs.
Hermione followed with a glass of lemonade, as he set his glass on the coffee table he noticed that the paper was flashing, picking it up to read.
'Your selection has been processed and accepted, the process will render participant and companion, unconscious for an hour to complete, it is advised to lay down before beginning the process, to begin the process simply touch this form and say 'Activate' aloud.'
He hands over the paper for her to read and received a nod, "We can do that now and by the time its done the suits should be finished," she said after reading.
Taking a sip from his glass he nodded, "Alright we'll go lay down on a bed upstairs then I'll get it started,"
Standing again leaving the glass on the table and heading up to the master bedroom, stripping to his underwear and went to lay down when he saw Hermione was down to her panties and climbing onto the bed across from him.
"Although I did choose you as a companion you are free to do as you choose," he said fighting to keep eye contact.
"Yes and I choose to be here," she said crawling to lay near the center of the bed and lying down.
Shaking his head he climbed in and lay down holding the paper at his side, once he was sure comfortable he called out, "Activate" and then the world went black.
An hour later Hermione woke first, at first all seemed to be normal, and then she felt her magic was stronger and more potent if she were to compare the way it felt before and after the change her magic would be like a small pond but now it felt like a giant lake.
Her mind had also changed as well the comparison would liken an early appel computer to a quantum computer.
Marcus woke a little bit later feeling the same as Hermione, "Wow no wonder the Alterans could build ships that crossed the universe so quickly," he said getting out of bed and looking for his clothes.
Hermione was nodding in agreement as she watched him bend over to pick up his jeans, she looked away as he pulled them on and went for her clothes not seeing him sneaking a peak at her as she too bent to retrieve her jeans as well.
When dressed they went down to the machine shop to find the two suits finished and waiting for them, Marcus picked up the suit meant for him and grunted a little bit, " Yeah a little heavy, " he said moving it to a bench then doing the same for the other
As he was moving the second suit he told Hermione, " Order up two TriQuarters and some circuitry, we will need to make new scanners, if I remember correctly the H.U.D in these only show what's in front of the wearer."
Hermione nodded and began tapping out the commands to build two TriQuarters and a bunch of circuit boards that matched the level of tech as the TriQuarters.
This order only took a few minutes to build, as the last circuit was made Marcus stepped over and scooped the items up took them to a mundane work table, and set it all down.
"I am thinking of a device from a game, I think it was called an Omni-tool or something like that," he said waving his hands over the items, everything floated off of the table and broken down into components.
"It will work like the Triquarter to scan things as well as have a ten to fifteen-meter area around the wearer it also has a micro-replicator to make small tools, and the display is holographic, and last it has a communication function that has a range of a few hundred meters without aid if it can tie into a system the range will match what the system can handle unless it is a smaller range than the Omni-tool can do alone," he said.
The components began to connect and build what looked like a bracer, they were sleek and thin not much thicker than a cell phone, there was a touch screen as well as the holo emitters to project readings.
"Those look nice but if it has a holographic interface why the touch screen?" Hermione asked looking at the new devices.
"Backup in case the holo emitters malfunction and also to hide that as well, with the screen you can still use it and keep people from seeing it if needs be,"he told her while picking up one and handling it to her.
She looked at it closely and found that it was a two part when the screen came away from the armband.
"If we can get to Earth a cell phone will not stand out plus it wont fit under the arm of the suit, the back is magnetic it'll stay on the arm until you hit the button where the power button is on a normal cell phone," he told her stepping over to the suits amd showing her how to attach and remove them from the suits arm.
She was watching him closely and smiled when he was done, "You think we can get to Earth?"
"It's a possibility, there are several ways to do it that I can think of right off the top of my head, one way is a wormhole drive on a large ship it is unpredictable but on a small ship they can jump several galaxies at a time, then there is overpowering a stargate like the Icarus team did to gate onto Destiny, the gate and likely the planet will blow up in the backlash when the destination gate closes the connection," he said while trying to think about other ways to get to earth.
Hermione liked the sound of the wormhole drive, and shivered at the thought of blowing up a planet just to open a wormhole, " Let's not try that second one," she said after a second.
"I'm not going to try, the team was lucky to make it through the wormhole, when they came out of it they were thrown out like a potato gun hard enough to break a few bones but not kill them," he said remembering how the team shot out of the gate.
"Yeah no overpowering the gate to get there, what about the wormhole drive? "
"That would need building and a ship as well, I would say something about the size of a fighter jet or a little bigger, " he said scratching his chin.
"We'll look into it later on there is no need to hurry plus we will need the schematics for that anyways," she said wiggling the screen on the arm of her suit.
He nodded, "There is that, also some fiction I've read about Destiny having one for a return home function after it is done collecting the signal in the background radiation,"
"Well let's get going, the faster we get there the faster we get back after getting our scans and the schematics to the ship so we know how powerful the shield needs to be," she said trying to lift the suit but not getting it to move more than roll off of the bench.
Marcus broke into laughter, she pouted at him her eyes growing wide, he could almost felt it like a physical blow to the gut.
It took him a few minutes to get himself under control, the entire time she gave him puppy eyes, "We'll have the androids to take them to the gate along with a table and chairs so we can sit down to pull on the legs and not have to fight to get up,"
Hermione lost her pout and her eyes returned to normal as she crossed her arms under her breast and huffed, "Fine let's get going," she said taking the screen from the suit and then playfully stomping out of the shop.
Still laughing he followed her up to the main floor and heard her telling the computer to have the androids take the suits and a table and chairs to the gate.
They continued to the living room to sit on the couch, Hermione was fiddling with the screen to figure it out, the scan function was easy to understand and the readout displayed on the holo screen, the fabrication function gave her a few ideas about tinkering with the technomancy skill.
"I'm thinking we can make some components with the fabrication device and use our skills to make something if we need to," she said while using it to make a few parts and then waving her hand over them to make a small handle that when she hit a button made a holographic screwdriver.
"It's hard light so if we can give it the design of a tool if it needs to be a physical tool we won't need to take a box full of heavy tools," she said setting the handle down.
Marcus looked at the handle for a moment then bopped his head with the heel of his hand, "Made a genius and I'm still an idiot," he said
Hermione began to laugh, but she collapsed to the floor when he tried to give her puppy eyes, even though he had a glimmer of mischief in his eyes when he copied her earlier huff and crossing his arms across his chest she was rolling around gasping for breath and trying to laugh at the same time.
It took her about five minutes to calm down and get her breathing under control, although a giggle would escape from time to time, she had propped herself against the couch.
"Okay now that you have that out of your system let's get on with the plan and yes we can use the tool like that," he said while leaning over to help her from the floor and sit back on the couch.
"Alright let's see, what about aerial drones to map out the ship and mark the places we can not enter?" she asked
Marcus shook his head, "If we can get into the computer we can get the layout and location of all the places where the hull is breached and life-support is down, the Icarus team was able to get the map of the ship in the first week and they didn't have a hand-held computer that can hold the entire database of the Earth of the 2000's" he said tapping the bracer on his wrist.
Hermione looked at her bracer with wide eyes, "You built these things to hold that much information?"
"Yeah it was an easy thing to make, the TriQuarter originally had a large data storage I just added to that a little bit," he said with a shrug.
"A little bit he calls holding 60 zettabytes give or take a few a little bit?" she almost shrieks.
Marcus was nothing, "Yep, the original TriQuarter held about half a billion terabytes,"
She was starting at the bracer doing a very good impression of a goldfish.
"Now remember that the bracer will not be able to hold all of the data Destiny has gathered over the past few million years she's been traveling so all we are after are the schematics for the ship and the repair drones, we will have the replicator to build a few drones then set them to use the ore vein to make more,"
Still trying to wrap her mind around the thought of the mega super computer on her wrist, "Um why make the data storage so big?" she asked after a few minutes.
He scratched the back of his head, "Truthfully I just wanted to try it and see if I could, the skills worked well together between runes and nanotechnology, if I hadn't been able to add runes the bracers would need to be about the size of the room here to hold the data we will need to get," he told her.
Before she could ask for more the computer called out, " The androids have placed the environmental suits and table near the gate, chairs would make dressing in them cumbersomee so a bench was sent instead."
"Thank you," he said.
They both stood and then left the house to walk down to the gate, "Remember that we could be entering a not so welcoming place be it a drifting ship with no life-support or even combat," he said as they neared the gate.
She nodded, "Yeah I know you have said that a few times already,"
Sitting down on the bench and taking the screen off of the bracer laying it onthe table to begin pulling the suit on, getting the legs on it took him a few tries to stand up, "Why use these heavy suits i know that the federation made them lighter and thinner?"
"These have the most protections against radiation the other suits rely on the shields of ships to provide the protection that Destiny may not have," Hermione said also fighting to stand up to get the uper half of the suit on.
Once they were both standing up, once they got their arms in and shrugged them in place the back of the suits closed with a hiss, stiffly they attached the screens to the arm and putting on the helmets and twisting them in place Marcus walked to the gate nearly falling a few times.
As he neared the gate he felt it reaching out to him and this time he let the connection happen, a second later the gate flashed open just like a stargate would in the show with a whoosh then settling into the shimmering water-like surface.
Hermione watched with amazement then stepped awkwardly to the event horizon and reached out to touch it, ripples formed where her fingers touched and entered the surface, "This is beautiful,"
"Yeah it is, I've seen that happen a lot on TV but seeing it happening for real instead of through a screen is so much better," he said joining her.
They stood there for a minute, "Well let's get going," he said then took a step forward into the shimmering, there were no visual effects like on the show, one moment he was on the island and the next he was in the gate room onboard the ship Destiney.
A few seconds later Hermione joined him, as soon as she was there she lifted her arm and tapped on the screen, "Stale but breathable air, radiation levels are normal, I'm picking up a surge of energy," as soon as she said energy the lighting in the room began to come on, looking around the room Marcus found a set of stairs leading up to a landing with a panel.
Before he could move more than a few steps he felt another presence in his mind, hearing Hermione gasping let him know she felt it as well.
'Welcome aboard, systems are now coming online, error life-support is failing replacement materials needed to function properly, remaining oxygen supply will sustain two beings for 10,560 hours, error shields failure imminent recommend repairs, error four of sixteen hyperdrive engines destroyed five nonfunctional, error stellar matter siphon and energy storage systems are functioning below twenty percent normal, error nonbuilder devices detected attached to the hull, error hull integrity compromised estimated sixty percent below operational normal, error... ',
"Destiny halt reports, we are aware of the possible systems needing repairs," Marcus spoke out loud stopping the report.
By now they were at the panel and Hermione was reading over the screen that was flickering, "Wow that adaptation thing works wounders it gave us the language spoken and written,"
"Yeah I know now lets see what we have here," Marcus said looking over the screen as well.
"Desyiny please use audio communications from now on, I am to referred to as Marcus and my companion Hermione," Marcus said pulling the screen from his arm, " Can you connect with this device?" he asked as he set beside the panel screen.
"Comand acknowledged, yes the device is compatible," a monotone voice spoke out of a speaker hidden in the panel.
"Good transfer the schematics of the ship and repair drones to the device, this is a scouting mission to access the condition of the ship and being repairs," Marcus said
"Command accepted the transfer has begun the process shall that five minutes,"
Hermione had pulled up a section of of the hull that was flashing yellow, " That is a unmanned ship it's from the aliens following the ship, I have an idea of what to do with it after we get started on repairs," Marcus said looking over her shoulder.
"There was a signal blip registered just after the gate opened coming from it," she said pointing to a box beside the blinking section.
Suddenly there was a blinding flash of light on the floor below near the gate, when the light faded a woman of about thirty years of age with brown hair and eyes was looking up to them a frown of confusion on her face.
"You are not supposed to be here," she said her voice also filled with the confusion her face was showing.
Marcus was looking at the woman trying to see if he could recognize her but she did not look like any of the characters he could remember from the show.
"A higher being than you and your people sent us here," he said after a moment.
"That is not possible we are the highest from of life in the universe," the woman said raising a hand that began glow.
Marcus moved fast throwing up a magical suppression charm around the woman, the glowing in her hand faded and the woman fell to the floor as her power left her.
"Huh didn't think that would work like that, I thought it would just stop her from doing whatever she was going to do," he said looking at the woman on the floor.
Hermione was on the other hand making her way down to the woman who was now trying to lift herself off of the floor and only managing to get into a sitting position.
Looking at her hands with fear and tears in her eyes, when Hermione got close the woman tried to back away only to fall again.
"Th thi this is impossible!!"
"Not impossible just something you people overlooked when you ran to the higher planes in your cowardice and fear of death," Marcus said joining Hermione and the woman.
"We are not cowards, my people attained this form to... "
"Run from the Ori and then the wraith who were killing you off, you all say it was to attain higher knowledge and skills but it is all based in fear, why do you think you are locked in one universe none of the other universes will allow you to contaminate their growth, you've all just ran out of the mortal planes and infected a few lower races and locked them in as well," Marcus was saying but his voice was off like someone was using him as a spearker system.
Hermione was now looking at him with wide eyes and fear as well as the woman until Marcus turned to look directly at her with a smile on his lips, " Enjoy your adventure my dear and know that unless you call for or directly contact these bugs again they will not be able to interfere with you two."
Turning back to the woman he spoke with no emotion, "Your people are judged unfit to interfere with the lives of the lower planes again outside cleaning up your messes and the universe shall rend you atom by atom, now be gone your council of idiots have seen and heard this message," after waving his hand Marcus stepped back.
The woman was shaking as she looked into Marcus's eyes through the face shield of the helmet the depth of power she saw made her feel like an ant in front of an elephant, when he waved his hand she flinched feeling her power flow back to her she stood tall and looked him in the eyes again and felt that the power she felt from him had not been a figment of her fear.
"You only get one warning, good riddance," Marcus said waving his hand and the woman vanished from the ship in another flash of light.
Marcus seemed to stagger for a moment, and then he tried to rub his head but the helmet stopped him, " Damnit that was rough,"
"Mind telling me what that was?" Hermione asked still staying away.
Groaning still trying to rub away the headache, "That was Chuck passing on a message, he said that the first person to ever enter this section of the omniverse was destroyed by the ascended so now if someone is sent to a stargate universe the company sends a message to them to not interfere with us also, also by doing this he set a new universal law the ascended can not do anything to cause the mortals trouble," he said looking around and walking to a wall to lean against it.
Hermione began to calm down, "The Ori are going to have a bit of a shock in a little while, that will save some trouble in the future," he said after a few minutes to regain his composure.
"Transfer complete," the monotone voice of Destiny announced.
Hermione went to get the screen for his bracer and returned to give it back to him using the time to finish calming down, "Well that was a shock just having you talk to that woman like that,"
"You're telling me, just after I cast the suppression charm, I was just about to go and tell her to leave, then Chuck jumped in and gave her the warning, I hope that never happens again, the mind and power he holds is too much," he said slowly pushing himself up after setting the screen on his arm.
"After that, I should hope not, want to go back for now?" she asked while gesturing to the gate.
He nodded and started to the gate, this time there was no whoosh as it opened back to the island and staggered through Hermione following through.
Across the universe, a group of beings were in a meeting to discuss the plan to set the humans on the path out in the galaxy in a few years to clean up their problems left over from when they were mortal when they all felt the power wafting from Chuck using Marcus as a conduit.
When the woman appeared in the middle of the meeting, "We have a problem, I've been given a warning that we can not influence the mortals, the next time any of us do so we will be eradicated," she said before breaking down in tears.
Those in the meeting watched on in shock, one male stood, "No one can tell us what we can or can not do, the mortals are our descendants they must follow the path... " that was as far as he got before he began to break down into dust.
All of the beings watched on in horror, the male was screaming in pain as this happened, "You have been warned now see the consequences if one does not listen, the mortals are beyond your control," a booming voice spoke forcing them all to the floor.
In a far corner of the Milky Way, a half ascended being collapsed to the ground in front of its followers and slaves, he began shaking and screaming until he burst into a wave of light that destroyed the solar system he was using as a base to regain the stolen power of a system Lord, the explosion of his power consumed all he had been able to gather.
Another group of beings sat in a meeting as well, this meeting was to have their mortal servants expand their influence to feed them more power from the worship of the mortal until the powerful voice booms into the meeting, "You claim divinity and force the mortals to believe such, now be punished for your transgressions,"
Suddenly every single being began to turn to dust the screaming shook the galaxy they ruled over sending the mortals of the galaxy into fearful prayer and when the Ori did not answer the Prier give word to the people until a melodic voice spoke to all, "Your Gods have been judged and failed the judgment, with this judgment you shall be given freedom of their forced worship, believe as you will worship as you wish but be warned that should new Ori make it to the level the previous Ori they shall meet the same judgment and fail for it is not the higher beings place to tell mortals how to live, this is to be the only warning,"
From that day the people of the Ori galaxy lived peacefully with occasional wars breaking out over belief but they never lasted long, the people eventually began to advance in technology once more, and by the time they finally left their galaxy the previous Ori had doomed them by moving the galaxy so far from the galactic clusters that it would take hundreds of millions of years to reach the closest galactic neighbor.
Marcus nearly collapsed after passing through the gate, he made it to the table to hold himself up, Hermione rushed to remove her suit dropping it piece by piece to the ground before running to him and beginning to pull off his suit, tapping his bracer she called into it, " Send androids to the gate I need help to get Marcus to the house immediately," she nearly screamed after seeing that Marcus was pale.
"Right away," came the reply from the computer's voice.
It took only a minute for two androids to come running at a high speed to the gate, they gently picked Marcus up and finished removing the suit, after that, they held him between them and carried him up to the house, Hermione had just enough time to gather up their bracer screens and run after them.
"Put him on the couch for now," she told them as she walked behind them.
As they lay him down, Hermione started scanning him with her bracer.
"Scans indicate his magical core is low and his nervous system is in a state of shock," the computer said before she could read the display.
"We don't have any medical facilities to take care of this, do your data banks have anything that can help him recover?" Hermione asked.
"Yes there are some nerve relaxants and rest is best for his low magic levels," the computer replied.
"Have an android bring it to me,"
"It is being replicated in the unit next to the television."
Hermione jumped up and ran to the unit just as the unit finished making a hypo spray, she grabbed the hypo and dashed back nearly breaking the thing as she jabbed his arm and pressed the trigger.
"The medication is repairing the damage estimated five hours until complete dispersal," the computer announced.
"Androids take him to bed and strip him, then cover him with a sheet,"Hermione said stepping back to watch the andrids lifting him and taking him upstairs.
Hermione started to follow them before thinking about the plans for repairing the ship, turning to the atairs leading to the shops she went to the machine shop.
"Conect to our bracers and download the scans taken as well as the files containing the schematics to the ship and repair drones."
After ten minutes the computer said that the download had finished, "The scans display that the environment is in need of a carbon dioxide scrubbing material and that there are many small holes in the hull slowly leaching the breathable atmosphere," it stated.
"Bring up the schematics to the drones and display on the control panel of the replicator," Hermione said making her way to the industrial replicator.
The display changed to display a spider like machine it looked like it was made of blocks of varying sizes, reading the display closely she nodded.
"Can our replicators build these things?" she asked.
"Affirmative one unit will take an hour, the materials will be taken from stores of none replicable materials, currently the stores hold enough to build one hundred units, the replicaror can assemble ten units together" was the reply.
"Very well build the units, once each unit is finished have it move to the gate and enter standby mode," Hermione ordered.
"Confirmed,"
"Stop at the one hundred units, search the schematics for the material needed for the carbon dioxide scrubber," was her next order.
"Confirmed, search complete, material usable for the CO2 scrubbing is lime," the reply came within seconds.
"After the drones are finished replicate the lime in a container that matches the schematics for the ship and have the androids deliver them to the gate."
"Confirmed."
"Clear the display then bring up the schematics for portable shield generators, and display the most suitable to cover the ship to provide the ship with the protection needed to cover the ship while it is undergoing repair," Hermione said as the replicator began to build the drones.
"Confirmed."
The panel changed to display several shield-generation devices, the smallest was the size of a car engine and the largest was the size of a small house, Hermione was about to order the computer to build several of the smaller generators but remembered that Marcus said he wanted to see about adding a repair charm to the shield.
"Finish the drones and scrubbers, when the androids deliver them have the androids bring the suits back here and recycle them,"
"Confirmed,"
Finished reviewing the items so far Hermione decided that she had set up enough for now and left the shop, while on the stairs leading to the living room she spoke, "Have the chef prepare a meal for when Marcus wakes up,"
"Please elaborate, which kind of meal?"
"Hamburger and homefries condiments on a side plate, assorted drinks from water to soft drinks."
"Confirmed."
Just as she reached the top of the stairs, " Come have a seat, my dear," came a voice from one of the couches.
She jumped preparing a spell in her hand as she turned to find the back of a man's head facing her from the couch facing the TV.
"None of that now," the voice said, as it did the stunning spell flickered out of her hand.
She watched the spell fade away and then crept over to the couch ready for anything, but knew that if this person could cancel her spell without moving she had no chance of fighting them off.
Once she rounded the couch she saw the man was in his mid-thirties with short brown hair and eyes with a beard and it mustache, he also wore all white clothing.
He smiled up at her then gestured at a chair, "Please sit down, I am here to apologize for your man's current condition, the company sent me to set the ascended Alterans straight, we did not take into account the magic he holds, that reality set normally does not have magic, I think one in one hundred thousand, add-in the power he was given when I took control of him for that moment and set the law it put a lot of strain on him, he will be fine after a nights rest, but to compensate him the company and I will be adding a medical care room there just at the top of the stairs on this floor, it is equipped just like one from Star Fleet with an EMH also the house should have had a library but somehow it was left out," the man sighed.
Hermione still on edge by the man's appearance in the house just nodded as he spoke slowly realizing that this was Chuck.
"We have gone ahead and added the library to the addition, it will have all the fiction and nonfiction books, video and audio works from his former homeworld as well as the complete magical works from the wizarding world from which your original came," he told her.
She nodded slowly but then asked, "Shouldn't there have been a medical room already?"
Chuck sighed, "Normally the participants are placed on a planet where they can seek healing so the company does not have them in the plans for the houses when a participant is given one, this time though it is a ship that is the destination the participant was given and a nearly derelict one at that," he shrugged.
"Okay and what was all that back on the ship with that woman?" she asked after thinking over the need for the medical room.
"Ahh yes well the ascended are kind of a sideways evolution of the race you two became," he said causing her to look confused.
Thinking for a minute he tried to think of the simplest answer to clear up the confusion, "The easiest way to say it is they forced their way to being ascended, they skipped over a lot of the steps to achieve the power they have, in doing so they can not move higher than they are now, take me, for example, I started as a normal human, like Marcus the company picked me up and after taking the deal they offered I went to a reality not too dissimilar from a normal Earth until a dimensional rift opened flooding the planet with magic and monsters, it was chaos until we discovered killing the monsters awakened powers in humans over the next few hundred years I grew in power once I reached a certain level I evolved into the next level of being and slowly over time I became a let's call it a bound god in my reality and over the millennia I kept growing until I reached the next step to become a free god and have kept growing, the alterans did not do that they forced themselves into the ascended planes to hide from mortal life so can not grow beyond the first tier," he told her in the simplest terms he could think of.
"Okay I am not going to ask for a more concise explanation I get the feeling it'll drive me crazy or I just won't understand it, now as to ascended will they be a problem later on when we return?" she asked worried crossing her face.
"No, I placed a new universal law limiting what they can do, from now on they can't influence mortals as they have in the past, one tried to break the law and suffered the punishment as well as the Ori, they are right now hiding in the places that they claim as homes and fear stepping out, only one has remained in the mortal plain to look over a planet she has lived on for the last few million years," he said with a smile, " She is the only one of the Alterans who achieved her power naturally so the law does not affect her also she guides the humans and protects them in a human form in the next few million years she may ascend higher it'll be up to her," he told her smiling.
"That's good to know, that woman looked ready to kill us or something," she said with a shudder.
"Yeah she was about to blast you both to dust, they had a plan for that ship that you two repairing would have thrown out the window, something to do with the signal the ship is chasing which funnily enough is just the echo of the destruction of one universe and birth of a new one, they think it is key to the next level but it is just an echo nothing more," he said with a laugh.
Again she just nodded trying to keep it all straight in her mind, she was about to ask more when he spoke again.
"One more thing before I go, if and when you two get to the Milky Way galaxy there is a device called a reality mirror, you two can use it safely and not need to worry about entropic cascade, being that technically you only exist in a single reality," he said standing and gesturing around before disappearing in a flash of multicolored light.
Realizing she was not able to ask more she stood up and walked up to the master bedroom and found Marcus sleeping with the occasional twitch, stripping down to her underwear she crawled onto the bed and lay down to get some sleep.
