"Talking"

'Thinking'

Sound Effects*

The sound of his feet rapidly hitting the ground was the only thing keeping him conscious as he continued running through the narrow alleyway. He knew that if he stopped even for a little bit, then his chasers would capture him and any chances of escape would be for naught.

A sharp left turn as he ran towards the street that was still on the other side of a building. The sound of a trash can being ran into and falling over dared him to look back, but he refused and continued to pick up speed. He could hear the sound of the four unknown people behind him as he ran for his damn life through the city of Musutafu. Of course, due to it being night time, the chance of randomly running into a hero at this hour were extremely slim.

He finally was able to make out some of the cars going by on the street, the people either getting off of or starting their shift. He was so close, just a couple more meters and he would be in the public street.

A barely missed hand whizzed by the back of his neck as he turned his head and saw the assailant tripping over his feet as he missed the grab, hitting his friend on the way down as the third one hurdled over the two and picked up speed.

But he never got to him, as soon as a truck carrying some mulch passed by, the runner grabbed onto one of the handles and let inertia carry him as the truck dragged him to safety. He climbed on top and looked to the right side, taking note of the burning down apartment complex that he passed by.

The thing is, though, the flames taking apart the building, were crimson red. And if one were to really look close, they could see the image of a dragon and a pink haired man looking after the boy with a solemn look on their face.

The boy wondered how it got like this, his black hair with natural green highlights blowing over his blood-stained face as he never noticed the tears rolling down his face as he let the exhaustion overtake him.

"I'm sorry, Mom. I'm so sorry..." And the boy's eyes closed.

A couple years went by since that day. He had returned to the apartment complex the next day, a short old man noticed him and offered to ride the train with him back home after he somehow ended up in Hosu. The young man didn't see any reason to refuse, and accepted the man's offer, making small conversation as the two rode along. He later learned the man's name was Sorahiko, but that was all he got from him.

When he returned, the police wanted to give him some time in the area before he would be brought in for identifying some criminals as well as for questioning. It was revealed to him, (though he was there to see it when it happened) that his mother died prior to the fire, and that no one was injured or killed in the apartment from the fire he created by accident. When he was brought in to identify the killer, he pointed to three people, claiming that those three were the ones that broke into their apartment, tied them up, slit his mother's throat, and forced his quirk to manifest. The three were then later sentenced to life in Tartaros, never to leave or escape.

The manifestation of his quirk was something that surprised him as well, but he knew that he, as of right now, had no way of controlling it. It was named "Flames of the Fire Dragon". After learning some control over it, he then learned about how the power of the flames that reacted purely to his emotions. The "Dragon's Flames of Emotion" he later renamed them. With his quirk, he noticed some other characteristics.

On his skin, extremely small, but slightly visible Dragon Scales covered his skin. When he alit his fire, the flames would be produced through these scales and he wouldn't even feel his skin burning off from the his, or any other, flame that touched him, making him immune to fire and scalding heat.

A little while later, the boy discovered that not only could he produce from literally anywhere on his body; he could even breathe fire and even eat it to replenish his energy. He also figured out that he inherited a stronger version of his mother's quirk, Light Telekinesis. This quirk allowed the user to work like a weak magnet, being able to pull any small object (or frail and skinny humans or animals) towards the user's hands until it is grasped directly, or cancelled by an outside force. His version allowed him to not only pull things towards him, but he could hold them in midair, and propel them away from his body. And it worked as a muscle, the more he trained it, the stronger it would get. This also worked with nearby flames as he could manipulate them and send them anywhere he commands.

Throughout the years before the incident, he had started to take up several forms of Martial Arts: Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA as well as fighting with a bo staff. But when he started to learn Street Fighting, he felt a sense of familiarity with the style and his fire prior to using it. As if the fighting style was almost second nature to him.

Every adjustment in his move set was completely familiar to him, almost as if he had used them for his entire life. However, he made an astute observation when testing his fighting styles. His Dragon's Flames of Emotion worked extremely well with his Street Fighting, Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, and his staff, but not so good with his MMA, Aikido, and Muay Thai. So he drew a question:

If everyone's so focused on fighting with their quirk, then how would they react to when they are suppressed?

He took that question and figured that he would keep the three forms that don't work for when he would fight without his powers, and use his others styles with his fire, with his staff being the exception for both of them.

After what happened that day, he stopped talking altogether. Not just stopped talking to people to make up meaningless conversation; no, he forced himself to become a mute, worried that if he were to speak, the rest of the people who forcefully came into his home and killed his mother would come for him as well. There were only a select few that were proven worthy to hear the voice of the young lad, and the rest were to never hear the voice again.

His mother's friend, and former friend's mom, came over to him one day before he went completely silent and told him that since the apartment would have to be vacated as there was no source of payment coming in, that she and her husband have purchased a small one bedroom one bath studio apartment down the street for him to reside in. They gave further information, stating that he wouldn't have to worry about not being able to pay for it, as they would be paying the bills on the place. But he didn't want to make them pay for everything, so he was able to get a small part-time job at the convenience store down the street to pay for groceries.

Even though training and work took over his life, he spent every waking minute available on learning how to control his flames better and figure out their properties, he never had to worry about falling behind in any of his classes since he was the smartest person in the school that was a student. In his mathematics, he was already at a high school second-year level, and in other subjects, he was weeks ahead in classwork and homework. Being a mute and no longer wanting to talk or deal with anyone's bullshit anymore really helped him out.

He tried to sign up for online classes, but unfortunately he needed his guardians to sign, and of course, he would have to ask the two who were paying for the new apartment he was staying in. He felt that him asking would be more than what they've already done for him. Plus he didn't want to have to deal with their son coming over in the morning and drag his ass back to the class he would've no longer been assigned to.

So he opted out, and anytime the son tried bothering him while he was peacefully reading a book in class, he would simply grab the other boy by the tie, and proceed to slam his head down onto the desk hard. He couldn't get in trouble for it either because it was in self defense and none of the other kids wanted to rat him out in fear he would fight them next. The teen on the receiving end wouldn't show it- as his face would be continuously bruised up every time- but he held a newfound respect and just wanted the kid who used to play Heroes VS Villains to come back into the boy's eyes. But he knew that it wouldn't happen for a long time, so now he just settled for trying to get the boy to talk to him, hanging out with him and almost completely stopping his little rein of terror as he realized that it wouldn't be how All Might would win anything. There was a couple times where he could've sworn he heard a chuckle or something from the young lad, but never chose to ask about it.

The name of the young boy who we've been watching is Izuku Midoriya, orphaned at age twelve after his mother was murdered in front of him. At age seven, he learned that his father wasn't really working overseas, but rather still in the country. He left the two after he found out that Inko was pregnant. He could visit the bastard at any time he pleased, but decided not to since there wasn't really any reason to since he never received the same treatment.

It was now the year 21XX, two years after the event that led to Midoriya's current conditions. The last two years were spent training with his newfound power, to which he mastered to what he felt was complete, and learning how to speak sign language in different languages that were common in Japan; Japanese, Chinese, American English, and a couple more. He practiced every day as to keep his literacy up to speed with what he'd be seeing. Another thing he learned is that since not everyone knows sign language, he would carry around a small little notepad and a pen, as well as learn how to write faster and neater to keep up with conversation.

His apartment owners came by every now and then to have small lunches with him while Katsuki was hanging around his cronies all weekend, just to keep him company. The mother, Mitsuki, and the father, Masaru, had both learned sign language and were able to use it just as fluent as speaking, that way he wouldn't feel alone in the world. But on days where everyone was excited and happy, the boy would freely speak to the two parents on an almost daily basis, and on days that Katsuki came over to join, he too would be granted to hear the voice of the young man.

He loved the three almost as if they were his own parents and brother, but he knew they could never replace his mother's caring and loving smile, hugs, and homecooked meals. He knew nothing could ever replace that.

Waking up early wasn't anything new to him; with his sleep schedule has always been fucked up since that day. But there were some days where he just felt like eating the sun, wanting to know how a star would taste.

'One day, I'll be able to taste your flames you bright bastard!' Sitting himself up, he stood and released a loud yawn and stretched his limbs as far as they were able to go without outside help from anyone. Giving a shake of the head, he decided to wake himself up further with a shower; considering he woke up roughly two and a half hours before he had to make it to the train, he figured he had time. So he grabbed his clothes and walked into the bathroom, the water started to run as he brushed and flossed his teeth, and spit out some mouthwash.

'Morning breath is always the worst.' Grabbing his speaker, he put on a random playlist as he saw the steam beginning to rise. Upon opening his phone, though, he saw the date and his eyes widened.

'Yosh! This looks like the start of a new year!' Grabbing his keys, he closed and locked the door behind him. Looking out from the balcony, he noticed the bustling streets down below, everyone in the market either greeting their friends, having wonderful conversations with a couple of the vendors, and just in a good mood. He figured that most of them felt like that since their kids start school back up today and they finally get out of their hair, but he never questioned it and just grabbed his bag and started walking down the street to the train station.

He lived about five kilometers away from the train station, his work was about three miles away west from his apartment. Telling himself that this would just build up endurance as he began in a full out sprint. With his constant training over the years, his stamina grew to unnatural levels, able to run a 5k without running out of breath, and a marathon only partially winded.

Yes, Izuku Midroriya had an unnatural ability. But he figured out that in order to become a hero, he'll need to stay in peak shape. Lifting weights, training his technique, and calming his mind all seemed to come naturally to him. He loved to fight, finding any possible way to just start a random brawl in any location just to live in the thrill.

Well, in any case, its time to skip ahead a couple hours to school.

The class is all talking among themselves except for two, Katsuki being annoyed in his front row seat, and Izuku reading a book in his back corner seat. He was really interested in this one about how a group of humans fought their way out of being an endangered species, forced to live in underground villages, to becoming one of the overseers of the galaxy. It always fascinated him in a way that he will never truly understand why.

Before the rest of the class got too rowdy, the teacher walked in with career forms and high school registration forms.

'Looks like the teacher really doesn't really think that anybody will be making it into the hero course if he's holding all of those papers.'

"Alright, class. I'm glad to be spending this school year with all of you kids. Although, it's time to be thinking about your futures and that starts with picking a high school that will get you to where you need to go later..." He trailed off for a couple seconds, and then threw the papers up in the air as he continued.

"But I'm sure you're all aiming for the Hero Course, correct?"

'I guess the papers were there for dramatic effect then.'

Immediately, the entire classroom that was so wild before, erupted back into chaos, everyone showing off their quirks, and such.

'How the hell does that one kid even think he's going to get in? His quirk is just that he can pull his eyes out pretty far, nothing else, really.'

Before anyone could say anything, the explosive teen decided to pop open the lid on his mouth.

"Hey, Teach. Don't lump me in with the rest of these losers. There's absolutely no way that any of them could compete with me." Explosion Quirk user: Katsuki Bakugou, everyone's favorite candidate for becoming a hero only because of his awesome quirk. If it were for anything else, he'd probably have nothing really going for him due to the arrogant attitude that he grants visible to everyone.

Of course, the rest of the class upon hearing this, decided to cause an uproar. "Hey, man. Just because you got that super awesome quirk, doesn't mean that you can look down on the rest of us." "Yeah, Bakugo! Don't go showing off on the rest of us!"

Before the blonde could say anything, the teacher cut him off. "Ah, yes Bakugou. You applied to Yuuei High School, correct? An excellent course for the person with an excellent quirk." The praise towards the boy was never missed, and always said.

"Woah, Yuuei? Isn't that the top school in all Japan?" "No you idiot, that's only in the East. Shiketsu has the other half." "Don't they only have a .2% acceptance rate?"

Izuku only shook his head as he heard the class drone on and on and just tuned them out. Deciding to continue on and continued to read his book. However, he felt the morning's tiredness coming back to him; letting the two friends of flesh and wood reunite as he laid his head down on his desk.

At least, that's what he wanted to happen.

"Ah yes, and if I'm not mistaken, Midoriya, you wish to go to U.A as well, correct?" The black haired teen looked up, around at the faces who looked at him with questioning gazes, and nodded his head; which immediately met its friend again.

In an alternate universe, Izuku Midoriya would be getting laughed at and called insane for wanting to go to a top tier Hero School, while trying to hide away from everyone. But in this one...

No one made a word. They were sure that he could undoubtedly make it in, but whether he would succumb to the amount of popularity the school receives every year, was another question. Each of the other kids knew that Midoriya didn't like talking to people he didn't know or trust.

"I wonder if he'll even make it in, what with those villainous flames of his." The owner of this voice came from someone who no one bothered to learn their name, only that his Quirk allows him to be able to pull his eyes out from their sockets to about a meter out. His comment.

"Hey!" "You can't say stuff like that!" "What the hell type of logic is that?!" "But, maybe he's got a point?" The teacher, as always, continued to not interact or stop the comments coming from the class, seeing as how he also thinks the agrees with the younglings.

"Tch, all of you extras who believe he has a point, better stop thinking about joining the hero course, as you have all lost the right to think that you're any better." This came from someone that no one really expected to stand up for someone else. Katsuki Bakugou rose from his seat and stood on his desk, the shadow covering his eyes.

"Who cares if the quirk looks that way. I betcha can't even name off three heroes who look like they could pass as villains. I bet you can't name off any hero's quirks that even seem villainous. It's not the quirk that defines the person, it's actually the other way around; so if you think that you have any better chance at making it even into the General Studies of any Hero School, then you're terribly mistaken." He pointed at everyone, as he grabbed the boy who acted like he didn't care about whatever was happening around him- even though he heard every word that has been said.

"Izuku and I? You better be ready to see us get the top spots at U.A's Sports Festival, because there's no way any of you, could even think about trying to save more people, or subdue more villains than the both us."

The two boys stood on their desks next to each other, and everyone could see almost two silhouettes the shape of dragons behind them, their eyes both appearing to glow a fearsome crimson red, challenging any of the other kids.

This marked the day that everyone learned to truly not judge others, as in ten months, things were going to change for the two.

End Scene

Alright! And that marks chapter one for the new book of mine!

So I started to watch Boku no Hero Academia (or My Hero Academia) back in April when this whole COVID-19 started. I finished the fourth season and have only seen the FIRST movie as I was unable to finish the show by the time Heroes Rising came out. But I've seen this one type of story where Izuku has Pyrokinesis (I hereby refuse to read anything except a select few stories on AO3 for numerous reasons). There are only a few good ones, but were all stopped due to either lack of ideas, or just lack of fanbase. (And before you try sending me to AO3 for the rest of them, I honestly can't read anything where any of the male character's are not straight. I've learned that the BNHA shipping fanbase is undoubtedly the most fucked up out of every manga/anime out there. I don't care if you think that Izuku's gay for Katsuki, Shoto, or any of that. I haven't seen literally any point in the show where he shows even the slightest sign of a hard-on for them. You can't change my mind, fuck you if you think you can.)

But yeah, as always, I will post the bloopers after the end message. Please share this story if you can; hell, I'll make an AO3 account and start posting on there and FF.N if that will work.

BLOOPERS!

Don't Run Into Traffic

The villain that was tailing the boy was almost able to grab the boy. Just a few more inches, then the boy would be toast by his own hands...

... at least that would've happened if a steamroller didn't flatten the poor villain and mold him into the road.

The boy could only stare in confusion as he rode on top of the truck that he grabbed onto.

Blooper End

The Eye-Pull

"Please. He probably won't get accepted into U.A with those villainous flames of his." The class started to go off on the kid with no name as he wasn't really important to anything.

Midoriya only stood up, silencing the class. He walked over to the no name, and just stared for a second.

"Your quirk allows you to pull out your eyeballs to a meter, right?" The no name nodded smugly. Midoriya closed his eyes as he too nodded with him. He then grabbed the kid's eyes and pulled them out to a meter at a fast speed, hurting the kid a little.

"AH SHIT! PLEASE STOP THIS FUCKING HURTS SO MUUCH!!!!" Came the cries.

"Okay." Midoriya released the eyeballs, letting them slam back into the sockets of the kid who was sent out of his seat from the force.

"What a bitch."
