Summary: Except for Skull, everyone is aware of the Arcobalenos' whole past. They now have a strong interest in learning how he came to be who he is. Is that all there is to it, though?

Author's Note: This occurred to me while reading some AU of Skull's and the other Arcobaleno's, and I immediately questioned his immortality. What if he was like Checker Face? And Sepira? Add background music as I read, and this story comes to life!

This is it.

Kawahira, also known as Checker Face, will finally lift the Arcobaleno curse. After decades of bearing the burden, the strongest seven will finally be freed.

He breathed, relieved. It was a close call, too. If Talbot had not arrived on time... He refused to consider what might happen next.

Glancing around, he smiled. Seeing the relief and hope in their expressions lifts his spirit.

He suddenly frowned and murmured. "But why does it feel like something is wrong?"

Before he could ponder more, a voice rang out.

"Are you certain?"

He blinked, then whirled to face Kawahira. "What?"

Surprisingly, Kawahira wasn't looking at him.

He was staring at Skull.

Everyone was stunned by his question. More importantly, why was he asking the Cloud Arcobaleno?

Skull mirrored the stare, frowning. "What do you mean?"

"Are you sure? The Vindice will hold the pacifiers."

The other Arcobaleno were puzzled. What was Checker Face attempting now?

Kawahira's expression changes to surprise. Then glee: "You mean you did not tell them?"

"W-what are you talking about, Kawahira?" Tsunayoshi asked, looking between them. He was not sure what was happening right now.

The others were likewise perplexed. Is Kawahira trying to buy time or something? What was he planning now?

"Hey, Kawahira! What are you up to now?!" Gokudera growled.

Yamamoto narrowed his gaze. "You are not backing out now, are you?"

"Oya...Now that is not pleasant at all, Mr. Administrator," Mukuro unexpectedly remarked.

Emma nodded. "Y-You promised after all."

Kawahira raised an eyebrow at them. "Certainly, I will remove the curse as promised," he said, returning his gaze to the Cloud Arcobaleno. "What I want to know is whether he will allow the Vindices to take the pacifiers without a fight."

Skull did not respond. His expression was unexpectedly blank.

Kawahira continued, grinning. "After all, your main objective was for me to return all of the pacifiers to you, correct?"
