*knock knock*
"Who's there?" Izzy called out from behind his computer.
"It's meeeee..."
"Door's unlocked, come on in," Izzy yelled.
"Awesome!" Mimi slithered her way inside the office and placed a chilled bottle of oolong tea on his desk. "Long time, no tea...get it?"
"Ugh, I get it...," Izzy groaned. "In all seriousness, thank you. You didn't have to do that. It has been a while since you came by though. What's the occasion?"
"Oh nothing, I was just in the neighborhood and I thought to stop by and see a special someone while I was around," Mimi shrugged.
"Does he know you're here?" Izzy raised an eyebrow.
"I'm a grown woman- I don't have to tell him my whereabouts every minute, even if he is a bit paranoid. He'll just have to suck it up," Mimi scoffed.
"Sorry I asked," Izzy grimaced.
"Do you tell her every time you and I meet up together alone?" Mimi smirked.
"No, but...I see your point," Izzy said in defeat. "Anyways, thank you for bringing me something. If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't get anything for hours."
"I know. Maybe I need to take more detours in this part of town just to make sure you take a break once in a while. Has she stopped by at all since...?" Mimi trailed off.
"No, but she's taking supplemental college courses and she goes to work right after. It's fine," Izzy shrugged. "Are you going to stop by to see him? I'm pretty sure he's got a long shift today."
"He'll be fine. Unlike you, he knows when to take a break," Mimi waved her hand dismissively.
"Right...," Izzy pressed his lips together and typed away at his computer.
"What?" Mimi defensively said.
"Nothing. I didn't mean anything," Izzy shook his head.
"Hmmm...," Mimi narrowed her eyes and frowned.
"Mimi, are you okay?" Izzy got up from his chair and looked at her.
"Does she make you happy?" Mimi's lip began to tremble.
"Does he make you happy?" Izzy asked, with a stoic look on his face.
"He loves me," Mimi bit her nail.
"That's not what I asked," Izzy said sternly.
"Well, you never answered me. I asked you first," Mimi crossed her arms.
"Fair enough...," Izzy sighed. "Uh, she's kind and loving."
"But...?" Mimi raised an eyebrow.
"But what?" Izzy frowned.
"You tell me. It sounded like you were going to follow up with a 'but'," Mimi shrugged.
"I could say the same about you," Izzy ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Okay, why don't we just pretend that the last five minutes didn't happen?" Mimi frantically flapped her hands.
"Alright, I can do that," Izzy leaned against the front of his desk and casually rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.
"I lied, I can't!" Mimi exclaimed.
"Huh?" Izzy looked taken aback.
"I'm not happy, okay? Oh, that feels so good to finally get out," Mimi heaved.
"Mimi...do you know what you're saying right now?" Izzy's mouth dropped in shock.
"Yes, I know! It's not him at all, it's me! He didn't do anything wrong- he's almost perfect. He's kind, thoughtful, patient, but he's just not y-y-yo- ahem, you know? He's just missing this certain something," Mimi turned red.
"I understand. There's no chemistry, no deeper level of intimacy, no spark," Izzy gave a slight nod.
"Oh great, so you noticed it too...?" Mimi sheepishly groaned.
"Only because I'm experiencing it myself," Izzy sighed and tilted his head back.
"Oh?" Mimi raised an eyebrow, trying to keep her face neutral.
"I'm not exactly an expert on romance, but I've come to realize that loving someone is different than being in love with someone," Izzy sighed.
"Are you in love with someone else?" Mimi's eyes widened.
"Probably. Because every time I see her, I fall deeper in love with her more and more each time. No matter what I do, I can't stop thinking about her- but it's not right. That ship has sailed, and I'm on my own ship now too," Izzy shrugged.
"Oh...," Mimi paused. "Well, what if this girl jumped ship?"
"I don't think she would do that, and I wouldn't expect or demand her to unless it was ultimately her decision," Izzy shook his head.
"Come on, let's jump ship," Mimi grabbed him by his shirt.
"What?! Are you crazy?!" Izzy turned red.
"Look, both of our ships are already a lost cause. Why not quit while we're ahead?" Mimi forced a smile.
"But what about-"
"What about them? If you think about it, is it really fair for us to waste their time when they could find someone who can love them the way they deserve to be loved?" Mimi wrapped her arms around Izzy's neck.
"I suppose you're right, but this still feels wrong...," Izzy frowned.
"This whole situation is wrong. If we were just honest with each other from the start, maybe we wouldn't be stuck where we are right now," Mimi breathily said as she leaned closer to him.
"Again, you're bringing up another good point," Izzy murmured, his lips barely touching hers. Mimi pulled his head toward hers, finally closing the small gap between their lips as they held each other in a steamy embrace. Mimi teasingly brushed her tongue across his lips to convince his mouth to open for her. Their tongues swirled and lapped against each other, their kisses getting more intense by the second. Izzy grabbed Mimi by the head and pinned her to the wall as they roughly rubbed up against each other.
"You taste better than I imagined," Mimi said in between kisses. She reached for his belt buckle when she felt his hand grab her wrist.
"Hold on. Maybe we should slow down before we do something we might regret," Izzy stepped back.
"But I don't regret doing this," Mimi pulled herself closer to him.
"That's the problem. I don't regret doing this. I just feel guilty that I don't feel remorse for what I'm doing at this moment, if that makes sense," Izzy said.
"I don't think I follow," Mimi frowned.
"Look, I don't regret what we did at all. I wouldn't take it back for anything. However, I do regret how it will affect her, especially if we went any further. I want to continue what you and I have, but I'd like to take care of some unfinished business first," Izzy said.
"I see...I should probably do the same," Mimi sheepishly said.
"If I jump, you'll jump?" Izzy asked.
"That was the deal," Mimi nodded.
*BOOM*
"Oh no, it started raining...I hope it doesn't pour too heavy. I didn't think to bring an umbrella," Mimi frowned as she looked out the window.
"You can borrow my parka. It's on the coat rack over there," Izzy said.
"Okay, thanks," Mimi slipped the parka on. "I think I'll head out before the storm gets severe. I'll catch you later."
"Okay, sounds good. Try to stay dry," Izzy said.
"I'll try," Mimi smiled and sauntered out of the office.
"I should head out soon...," Izzy grimaced to himself as he stared out the window. The storm was starting to pick up, but he just sacrificed what he thought was his only weatherproof protection he had. Luckily, he spotted a pink umbrella in the corner of his eye. Unfortunately, when he was going to make his way to abandon ship, she would take one look at that umbrella and know why he walked the plank. On another part of town, a green parka would be the final blow that sank another ship. It was okay though. They would meet again soon.
