Some days are a bit of a blur of busyness, being a princess is not all fun, nor is it mostly fun, though Shirayuki finds that by helping others, those are the days when she feels most happy with her new working role. When it feels distant from people, it makes her feel far more restless like she should be doing something else.
But she's always been a hard worker, so she keeps up the hard working pace even when distraction or boredom or frustration sink in. She stays steady on this, and she intends to keep doing so. For she married the Second Prince of Clarines and with that comes a bit of responsibilities beyond just the ordinary marriage ones.
And sometimes she can just feel her exhaustion threaten to take her out, though thankfully that is not every day, because some days she's full of energy and hope and optimism, really feeling the difference that she is making.
Today is one of those tiring days, and she has a whole stack of paper in front of her yet that she has to read through and sign. Zen is not the only one with paperwork these days now. Though when he's by her side, they'll talk about her paperwork and make it far more enjoyable or at least more digestible, when it gets too hard to parcel through.
"Shirayuki?" When she hears her name, she looks up to spot her husband with his hands behind his back and a great big smile that doesn't hide his nerves though it does show his joy.
"Yes?" She sets her pen down, page directly in front of her only half read right now.
"I got you something." And Zen steps closer, still smiling though somehow looking more like the shy man she first met.
And when he brings his arms from behind his back, he holds a bouquet with them, of mostly flowers, but there were some herbs interestingly enough within the mix.
"Wow." Shirayuki held out her hands and received them.
"I had it custom prepared, so you could get herbs too. I thought maybe you missed making medicine, and you could make medicine coming up or even show me how to." Zen's rambling a little bit, but it is really cute.
"Thank you." Shirayuki's smiling now, work load stress and weight rolled away from her; her husband could be so thoughtful! "This was so thoughtful."
"You're welcome." Zen's smiling as he sits on her desk, slightly off to the side, "You're amazing, and I know it's a lot of work and you've been working so hard, and you seem kind of tired lately. So, I thought a break was definitely in order."
Shirayuki shook her head, "And that sounds like the man I fell in love with." Shirayuki teased, "You used to run away from your work all the time."
"Hey, you came when I got too stressed and sat with me, gave me a break." Zen ruffled her hair lightly.
"You needed one then." Shirayuki told him, "You worked a little too hard."
"And you need one now." Zen's sincere and so sweet.
"I love you too." Shirayuki smiled as she finally set her paperwork aside; it will still need attention later, but she'll have more energy for it then.
"I love you." Zen's smiling a wide, almost dorky grin, and Shirayuki savors this moment of peace in the often chaotic, turbulent life of being in the royal family. It can be a lot, but she has the best person she could think of to help her through it all.
