Chapter 04: Operation: Monster High
"Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, what do you know about the existence of monsters that aren't ghosts?" Operative K asked.
"Until last Halloween, practically nothing." Jack answered.
"Same with me." Maddie added.
"Long story short, monsters are real and we believe there's a school for them somewhere in New Salem, Oregon." Operative O stated.
"I thought Salem was in Massachusetts." Jack commented.
"He's talking about New Salem, dear." Maddie explained, feeling there was no need or use to get into more details.
"Affirmative." Operative O stated.
"Unfortunately, the monster school is somewhere hidden in a dark forest and there seems to be some sort of magic preventing us from locating it." Operative K added.
"We have reasons to believe some of the monster students, the gorgon who turned the Baxter boy into stone included, approached your son last Halloween." Operative O said, shocking the Fentons.
"What can we do?" Maddie desperately asked.
"We can take advantage of their ploy and have your son spy on the monsters, Mrs. Fenton." Operative K suggested.
"Awesome!" Jack exclaimed.
"No!" Maddie replied. "I won't risk one of my kids near monsters. Danny barely knows enough about ghost hunting, much less about other monsters."
"I can disguise myself as Danny." Jack eagerly volunteered. "The family resemblance will trick those monsters."
"We don't think so, Mr. Fenton." Operative O replied. "But you may give your son a tracking device so we can be ready for when the monsters approach him again."
"Now that's a reasonable idea." Maddie commented.
Later that day, Danny told his parents about having met a girl named "Clawdine Wolf" or so that's what they understood when Danny said her name. When Danny told them the edited version of how he and Clawdeen met, they figured out his girlfriend was a werewolf and decided it was time to use that tracking device the Guys in White gave them.
"A bow tie?" Danny wasn't impressed.
"They give a nice touch." Jack said, hoping his son wouldn't suspect there's a tracking device inside the tie.
Danny looked at his Mom for help but Maddie smiled in approval. "I'm sure Clawdine will love it."
"If you excuse me, I'm going to my room to look for a suit that matches the tie." Danny said and went to his room.
"Phew." Jack said in relief. "I thought we wouldn't trick him."
"Trick who, Dad?" Jazz asked as she entered the living room right after Danny left.
"Well, I suppose we can trust you." Maddie commented and started explaining about the monsters and the Guys in White.
Meanwhile, at Danny's room, he was trying to decide what to do. "Should I accidentally destroy this tie or jus accidentally forget it here?"
Jazz then showed up at his room. "Little brother, you must get rid of the tie!" She exclaimed.
"Jazz, I feel the same but what's the hurry?" Danny asked in confusion.
"Mom and Dad put a tracker in there given to them by the Guys in White." Jazz answered. "They know about your monster friends."
"And I thought all I had to worry was Dash blabbing about them." Danny muttered. "I thought my troubles would be over when everyone at school understood it was Halloween and even the son of ghost hunters could be deceived by monsters who aren't ghosts."
"But what'll you do, little brother?" Jazz asked.
"I think I'll take a closer look at this tie." Danny replied and found the transmitter, which he 'accidentally' dropped. "Oops, I am so clumsy. I'd better pick it up before..." He then 'accidentally' stepped on the transmitter. "Oops."
"If not for the incidents that led Casper High to ban you from carrying breakable objects within school grounds, I wouldn't have bought that acting." Jazz commented.
"Like you're any better." Danny muttered. "The point is that the monsters are saved."
"Are you sure it's a good thing, little brother?" Jazz asked, still not convinced that those monsters weren't evil.
Danny would've replied but then he and Jazz heard another familiar voice. "Tell me who you love!"
"Ember!" Danny muttered and frowned. "I'm going ghost!"
Danny flew towards the area where Ember was giving her latest live concert. "Ember, repeat performances are so lame." Danny said.
"No, you are, Dipstick." Ember replied.
During the eventual fight, the noise and the blasts attracted the attention of several people, including Sam and Tucker. As Danny's best friends rushed towards the battleground, they noticed a guy dressed as an Egyptian Pharaoh going to the museum. "Doesn't he know Halloween is over?" Tucker said.
"Maybe that's Cleo and Nefera's Dad." Sam suggested.
"In that case, I must see if I still have chances with Nefera." Tucker said with a Too Fine smile and tried to approach the Pharaoh until he saw Ramses De Nile phasing through the door. "Sam, can mummies do that?"
"Every movie where mummies go through walls shows them using a different method than those used by ghosts, Tucker." Sam answered, realizing something was more unusual than a mummy showing up.
While they followed "Ramses" inside the museum, Danny kept fighting Ember. "Ember, your aim is even worse than Skulker's." Danny teased. "Keep going like that and I might think he's your boyfriend."
"It's an on-off relationship, Dipstick." Ember replied, shocking Danny.
"Wait, are you saying he really has a girlfriend?" Danny asked. "I thought he was making it up."
"Why's it so hard to believe, Dipstick?" Ember asked in return. "He's not the one among your enemies to have an unhealthy obsession with another guy's wife."
"Point." Danny conceded.
Suddenly, they saw a bright light coming from the museum. "It seems the Pharaoh no longer needs the distraction." Ember maliciously commented.
"Distraction?" Danny asked. "Pharaoh?" He then decided it didn't matter since he had to go to the museum and flew away.
At the museum, Tucker was horrified as he recalled the time Hotep RA influenced him. "Hotep RA, is that you?" Tucker asked.
"Quite clever for an imposter Pharaoh." Hotep RA commented.
"Hey, I managed to take control of the sphinx away from you the last time we met." Tucker protested.
"I know." Hotep RA conceded. "That's why I'll destroy you before building another sphinx."
"And where does Ramses De Nile enter?" Tucker asked.
"I see you remember the real Pharaoh Duulaman's would-be father-in-law." Hotep RA said. "I needed a real Pharaoh to counter your crude power. Unfortunately, he didn't miss his days as an Egyptian ruler to agree so I had to overshadow him to control his shabti."
"His what?" Tucker asked.
"He means those constructs who appeared around us after he used Duulaman's scepter, Tucker." Sam explained.
"I've wasted too much time by now." Hotep RA said. "Prepare to die, imposter."
Tucker readied himself for his end but then Danny Phantom showed up, conjured a shield and protect his friend. "Are you okay?" Danny asked his friend.
"We meet again, Danny Phantom." Hotep RA commented.
Danny was confused by this statement since he didn't know Hotep RA was overshadowing Ramses. "Dude, the only non-ghost mummies I ever met before are girls." The halfa said.
"Danny, that's Hotep RA overshadowing Ramses De Nile." Sam explained.
Now Danny was worried since, monster or not, the living mummy (Danny wasn't sure if the average mummy can be considered a living being or not but decided to play it safe) was an innocent victim like every human who's ever been overshadowed. He tried to expel the ghost from Ramses' body but Hotep RA used Duulaman's scepter to stop Danny. "You'll never stop me!" Hotep RA said.
"But we will." Hotep RA heard somebody say as bandages caught his arms. Looking at the overshadowed mummy's sides, Danny recognized Cleo and Nefera. "Hurry, Danny." The latter said.
Understanding Cleo and her sister probably wouldn't be able to hold Hotep RA for long, Danny quickly got him outside Ramses' body. "What happened?" Ramses asked and then noticed what he was holding. "Why am I holding Pharaoh Duulaman's scepter?"
"Hotep RA possessed you, father." Nefera De Nile explained.
Outraged at this, Ramses De Nile used the scepter to immobilize Hotep Ra, enabling Danny to suck the ghost inside a Fenton Thermos. "Thank you, Pharaoh." Danny said.
Tucker then approached Ramses. "Pharaoh De Nile, Sir, I'm Tucker Foley." The techno geek eagerly introduced himself. "TF as in Too Fine but you may call me Duulaman."
"I prefer to call you Tucker Foley." Ramses De Nile stated upon glancing at Tucker.
"So, I understand you wanted one of your daughters to marry me but Cleo isn't available but what about Nefera?" Tucker asked.
"She can do better than you." Ramses coldly replied and turned around, causing Tucker to moan. "You, for example, Phantom."
"I'm already starting a relationship with one of Cleo's friends, Pharaoh." Danny replied, hoping Ramses would accept it.
"In that case, I have no reason to stay here." Ramses replied, handing Danny the scepter. "Goodbye." He said and left with Nefera.
"Uh, does your sister respect friendship codes?" Danny asked Cleo.
"Clawdeen is my friend, not Nefera's." Cleo replied and left.
Days later, Guys in White O and K were at New Salem to look for clues of the monsters' whereabouts. "I can't believe Agent Alpha is punishing us like that." Operative O commented.
"We're not being punished." Operative K argued. "Using the Fenton boy to locate the monster world is no longer an option so we're back to the original plan."
"Agent Alpha is probably blaming us for that failure and that's why he's making us waste time on what is basically a shot in the dark." Operative O stated and, before Operative K could formulate a response, they saw Danny Phantom flying nearby.
"You were saying?" Operative K asked while going at Danny's direction.
Meanwhile, at a cemetery Danny was instructed to meet Clawdeen, Sam and Tucker were waiting for Danny to show up. "Sam, what're we doing here?" Tucker asked.
"Danny is about to fall for a trap set by a bunch of monsters, Tucker." Sam replied. "We must protect him."
"You're just jealous because that werewolf girl is braver than you about falling in love with Danny." Tucker said. "Even if the monsters do plan to harm Danny, what could we do about the non-ghosts? We don't have whatever drove the monsters into that flight they told us about. Maybe the Power Rangers and the Super Sentai were based on real heroes and they were the ones that drove the monsters into hiding."
"Quiet." Sam hissed. "Here comes that Clawdeen werewolf."
Clawdeen felt to familiar scents but didn't say anything before Danny arrived. "Am I late?" Danny asked.
"Not as late as your friends but no, you're not late." Clawdeen answered, scaring Sam and Tucker.
"My friends?" Danny asked.
"I can feel their scent, Danny." Clawdeen explained. "Especially Tucker Foley's since he reeks of desperation and loneliness."
"I do NOT!" Tucker protested, revealing his presence. "Oops."
"Tucker?" Danny asked upon seeing his friend was actually there.
"She made me do it!" Tucker quickly defended himself, pulling Sam into sight.
Clawdeen glared at her manster's normie friends. "Listen up, you two. The desire for a peaceful coexistence might keep most monsters from outright forcing you to leave Monster World but, if you're going to enter, avoid drawing attention to yourselves."
The four of them entered, oblivious to the fact they were being watched.
