A/N: Happy 25th Anniversary, Yu-Gi-Oh!

Duel Monsters.

What seems to be a simple card game has shaped the course of the future, time and time again. Evil found a way to harness it, but every time, a young hero would step up to stop the machinations with nothing but their deck.

First was the Nameless Pharaoh, the legendary King of Games, who put an end to the Shadow Games once and for all.

Next was the Fusion Prince of Duel Academy, the Supreme King who saved the world from being pulled into eternal darkness.

Then the Shooting Star of Satellite, the Hero of Legend that rode his way to victory to prevent a ruined future.

And finally, the Miracle Boy; the ZEXAL. The saviour of Earth, the Astral World and Barian World.

These legends have transcended time, and are still remembered to this day. But as time goes on, so does Duel Monsters.

Enter; the Sound Duel.

The rules seem identical to the original game, but imagine a concert, filled to the brim with eager watchers. As soon as the first attack lands, the music begins. And whoever had the advantage would get the added bonus of their song resonating through the stands.

There are now a new generation of duelists, known as the Idol Duelists. They'd sing and dance, all while playing Duel Monsters for their beloved fans. Their popularity had skyrocketed, and it wasn't that hard to see why. Incredible music, charismatic idols, and the world's most popular trading card game, all at once? What's not to love?

It's what one, Hibiki Tachibana, thought as she waited in front of the stadium. The crowd was overwhelming, but it wasn't enough to deter the young thirteen year old.

While she was excited to be there, she seemed a little bit upset as she talked to someone on the phone.

"Eh? You're not gonna make it?" She spoke into it.

"I'm really sorry, Hibiki. I know I said I was going to be there with you, but my Aunt in Morioka got into an accident. My dad's going to drive us there now." Her best friend, Miku Kohinata, spoke through the phone.

Hibiki sighed, but scratched the back of her head. "Well, I'll try to at least win an autograph for you, but I am a bit nervous..."

"Thank you, Hibiki." She said. "Do your best out there!"

"Yeah, I will." Hibiki nodded, as she could feel Miku's support. Hanging up, Hibiki jogged on the spot for a bit, hyping herself up. "But Miku couldn't come… I can't help but feel a little cursed…"

Inside the stadium, the staff members were all getting ready for the event. Sitting at a small table was Tsubasa Kazanari. She was looking through her cards, making sure that she hadn't misplaced any. She was checking her spare cards, and was wondering if she should make any last minute changes.

She should she add the spare cards? They were all useful to some extent, but filling the deck to the absolute max would mean that the odds of her drawing something she actually needed would become even lower. The decision was so difficult...

"Hey, whatcha up to?"

Tsubasa turned to see Kanade standing behind her, arms behind her head.

"Ah, Kanade." Tsubasa said. "Did you need something?"

"Nah." Kanade sat down on the table. "I finished fixing up my deck, and I got bored. I see you're still hard at work."

Tsubasa frowned. "Kanade, this is serious."

"How serious can it really be? It's a children's card game." Kanade shrugged.

"Kanade!"

"I know, I know, I'm just joking." Kanade grinned. "I know how big of a threat that the Shadow Games and stuff can be."

"Your positivity is always appreciated, Kanade-kun." Came a booming voice.

A tall, muscular man in a red suit walked up to them. There was a deck box on his belt.

"Yo, Bossman." Kanade saluted.

"Commander." Tsubasa said.

"Still, the positivity cannot hide the strange occurrences." Genjuro said, crossing his arms. "While we've managed to keep things mostly under wraps, these strange creatures that we've classified as the Noise are able to summon Duel Monsters. And the victims have been reported to have last been seen with some sort of dark energy, exactly like the reports said about the Shadow Games decades ago."

"Well, if the Noise are smart enough to duel, they'll probably know what's good for them when they sense the power of the card we've secured under the stage." Kanade said. "I mean, who wouldn't piss their pants when Slifer the Sky Dragon is around?"

"Crudely put, but true." Genjuro nodded, before looking at his watch. "It's almost time, you two."

"Oh, and Commander, there was something I wanted to talk to you about." Tsubasa said.

"No Tsubasa, you cannot bring your D-Wheel into this." Genjuro said. "There is an established routine."

"Listen, Basa." Kanade said. "If I fly down gracefully, in a cute-ass dress, and then you speed on in your motorcycle in your biker gear, that's gonna be a real clash of designs, you know?"

Tsubasa pouted, but didn't say anything.

Hibiki had gotten her ticket checked, and she had gotten to her seat. She didn't sit down though, as she was too excited. She was practically bouncing.

"Okay, it's gonna start soon…" Hibiki said quietly. "Just gotta make sure…"

Hibiki tapped her duel disk's "on" button, and the hard light zapped out into the full shape of a standard yellow duel disk. She was thankful she didn't accidentally hit anyone. Turning it off, she took her cards out of the deck box on her waist and checked them. After a brief view, she determined none of her cards were missing.

"That's a relief…" She sighed. It would've been embarrassing if she had lost them. She couldn't count how many times she had misplaced her cards.

She took her favorite card out of her extra deck; Junk Warrior. It wasn't a rare card by any means, heck it was part of the Junk Synchro starter deck she bought, but she had read about how a legendary duelist of the past had used it to great effect. She wondered if she could be like him.

Hibiki looked up, as the lights were starting to dim. Oh, it's starting! She realized.

The crowd started to cheer, as the spotlights shone onto the main stage. They aimed up, and the crowds started to cheer. They threw off their white cloaks, to reveal wing-like dresses, Kanade's pink and Tsubasa's blue.

Diving down towards the stage (with wires that were difficult to see), flew the Idol Duelist duo; Zwei Wing. Landing gracefully and letting the wires clip off, they waved to the crowd. Grinning, Kanade held up a mic.

"Hey everyone!" Kanade called out to the excited crowd. "I see we got a big crowd of excited duelists today, huh, Tsubasa?"

"I can see a lot of great duelists in the making." Tsubasa agreed.

"Yeah, same here." Kanade said. "So what do you say we rev it up, huh?"

"You said I couldn't bring my D-Wheel." Tsubasa said, flatly.

The crowd started laughing, and Kanade gasped. "Whoa, did you just tell a joke, Tsubasa? I'm so proud!"

Tsubasa smiled. "I suppose I learned from the best."

"I'm honored to hear you say that." Kanade said, as she walked to one end of the stage. "But don't think that means I'll go easy on you. So whip out your deck, Tsubasa, cause it's time to duel!"

"Hmph, on the contrary." Tsubasa said, walking to the other end of the stage. "I'd prefer no handicaps, Kanade."

"If you say so." Kanade said, before turning to the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen! Prepare yourselves for the exhibition match! Are you ready?!"

The excited shouts of the crowd answered her question, as she and Tsubasa held up their wrists. The hard-light blades shot out from them, as they formed an orange and blue wing-shaped duel disk, respectively.

"Sound Duel!" They both shouted, drawing their opening hands, as the crowd began to cheer. The screens located all over the stadium started showing their duel status, with their starting 4000 life point count and 5 card hand.

"I'll go first!" Kanade declared. She looked at the cards in her hand, before smirking.

I know that smile. Tsubasa narrowed her eyes. She already has a plan this early?

"Hey, you know how I love the sound of my own voice, right?" Kanade asked.

"You remind me every day-"

"Well, get ready to sing! Cause I activate my spell card; Meteor of Destruction!" Kanade shouted, sliding the card into her duel disk.

"What?!" Tsubasa shouted, as a large meteor started to form above her.

"This card deals 1000 points of damage, as long as my opponent's life points are higher than 3000, I can play this card." Kanade explained. "And since this is the first turn, we're both at full strength, but not for long!"

Tsubasa held up her arm as the meteor came down. It shattered on her duel disk, as her life points dropped down to 3000.

Whoa, Kanade-san's relentless… Hibiki thought, watching the duel.

(Play: Gyakkō no Flügel - Zwei Wing)

Zwei Wing's duel disks started to play music that enthralled the crowd.

Is that their new song? Hibiki wondered.

Kanade grinned as the lyrics started. Her voice in the song was noticeably louder than Tsubasa's thanks to her life point advantage, and she was planning on keeping it that way.

"And to follow that up, I'll activate Ancient Rules!" Kanade shouted, slotting in another card. "And that lets me special summon a level 5 or higher normal monster from my hand! So come to the field, my burning will, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

In a burst of flames, a sinister black dragon with gleaming red eyes descended, roaring and shaking the stadium.

"That's Kanade-san's signature monster!" Hibiki shouted. "She got it out already?!"

A drop of sweat went down Tsubasa's face. Kanade had already made a good opening move. It was a good thing that the duelist that went first couldn't attack-

"How about one more spell? I activate, Inferno Fire Blast!" Kanade shouted.

"?!" Tsubasa clenched her teeth.

Sliding the card into her duel disk, Red-Eyes Black Dragon started charging up an attack in its mouth.

"Now, normally I won't be able to attack, but with this nifty little spell card of mine, you take damage equal to Red-Eyes' original attack power." Kanade declared. "Let her have it, Red-Eyes!"

Red-Eyes Black Dragon threw its head forward, unleashing a ball of black and red flames. Tsubasa cried out as the attack hit her dead-on, dropping to one knee as the flames burned around her.

I can't believe it! Hibiki thought. Kanade-san already lowered Tsubasa-san to 600 life points on the first turn! As expected from a pro!

"And then I'll end my turn." Kanade said. She cupped her hands over her mouth. "Yo Tsubasa! You alright?! Hope that wasn't too… hot for ya!"

Tsubasa got back up as the flames subsided.

"Hot?" Tsubasa asked, a competitive glint in her eye. "This is a battlefield, Kanade. Nothing is too "hot" for me."

Seeing the pun had gone over Tsubasa's head, or Tsubasa knew it and refused to acknowledge it, Kanade simply sighed. "Good to see you're still with us. So come at me!"

"My turn! Draw!" Tsubasa shouted, drawing from her deck. "I set four cards face-down!"

Tsubasa had placed 4 cards into the spell and trap zones.

"And then I'll activate my spell card, Emergency Provisions!" Tsubasa declared. "With this, I can send any of my spell or trap cards on the field to my graveyard, and I'll regain 1000 life points each!"

Three of the face-down cards shattered, as Tsubasa's life points rose back to a healthy 3600.

"And since this is the only card I have in my hand, I can normal summon it to the field!" Tsubasa shouted. "So I summon, Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight!"

A knight in blue armor dashed onto the field, riding a purple horse and brandishing two red spears. While it had an impressive 2300 attack points, Kanade's Red-Eyes Black Dragon was still the stronger monster by 100 attack points. And Tsubasa had an empty hand, and a set card she couldn't activate.

"With that, I end my turn." Tsubasa said.

"Alright! I draw!" Kanade pulled a card from her deck. "I'll summon my Red-Eyes Wyvern!"

A mini version of Red-Eyes lacking arms appeared onto the field.

"Alright, Red-Eyes Black Dragon! Let's swing into action! Dark Flame Shot!"

Red-Eyes Black Dragon charged up a blast of flames and fired it at Swift Gaia.

"I activate my trap card, Negate Attack!" Tsubasa shouted.

As the purple card flipped up, Red-Eyes Black Dragon's attack went up into a swirling vortex.

"Not only does it stop your attack, it ends the battle phase." Tsubasa said.

"Damn, I thought I was feeling the flow there." Kanade said. "Guess I gotta end my turn. You're really getting your game on, Tsubasa!"

"Draw." Tsubasa said. "I activate the spell card Pot of Greed."

Eh? I've never seen that card before. Hibiki thought. What does it do?

Tsubasa drew two cards.

"Wait, what does it do?" Kanade asked.

"...Kanade, that's one of the oldest cards in the game, and you yourself have a copy in your deck." Tsubasa deadpanned.

"But what does it do?" Kanade asked. "You gotta explain for the folks in the back."

Tsubasa sighed. "It lets me draw two cards."

"Whaaaaat?!" Kanade shouted. "Two free cards, no strings attached? That's busted! If this game had banlist, that thing would never get off of it!"

"Kanade."

"Whoops. Got a little off-tangent there." Kanade laughed. "Anyways, go on, Tsubasa."

"I activate the equip spell, Magnum Shield!" Tsubasa shouted. "With it, Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight gains attack points equal to his defense points!"

Swift Gaia gained a mighty boost from his 2100 defense points, bumping up his attack points to a massive 4400.

"Oh… oh crap." Kanade muttered, seeing that Tsubasa's monster was now the most powerful one on the field.

"Go! Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight!" Tsubasa shouted. "Attack Red-Eyes Black Dragon! Spiral Shaver!"

Swift Gaia galloped forward on his trusty steed, before stabbing his weapon into Red-Eyes Black Dragon, causing a spiral shockwave to tear the dragon apart. Kanade raised her arms to shield herself, as her life points dropped by half almost instantly. With Tsubasa now in the lead, her vocals were playing instead.

"With that, I end my turn." Tsubasa said.

"I draw!" Kanade shouted. She looked at the card she just drew, before she set it. "I set a card face-down, and then I'll switch Red-Eyes Wyvern into defense mode. I'll end my turn."

I don't have anything strong enough yet, but as long as Red-Eyes Wyvern is in defense mode, my life points will be safe.

"Draw!" Tsubasa shouted. "I activate the continuous spell card, Spiral Spear Strike!"

The card appeared on Tsubasa's side of the field.

"With this, Swift Gaia can deal damage even if your monsters are in defense mode!" Tsubasa declared. "End this duel, Swift Gaia! Spiral Shaver!"

Hibiki tried to quickly do the math in her head as Swift Gaia galloped forward, but math never was her strong suit. Even then, she knew that this would be enough to wipe out Kanade's life points.

Swift Gaia stabbed Red-Eyes Wyvern, and there was an explosion that hid Kanade from view.

"I've won…"

"Is that so?"

The smoke from the explosion faded and Kanade was still standing, smirk on her face.

"What?" Tsubasa saw that Kanade was sitting at 3200 life points. "What happened?"

"Well, when you attacked me, I activated my trap card, Nutrient Z!" Kanade said, as the smoke cleared to reveal the trap. "Thanks to this nifty drink, I gained 4000 life points right before the hit!"

Tsubasa narrowed her eyes. "I end my turn."

Kanade put a hand on her deck. Okay Heart of the Cards. You'd better give me something good! She drew the card. Yes!

"I activate Swords of Revealing Light!"

Several swords of green light stabbed down from the sky, and Swift Gaia's steed neighed in panic as it was surrounded.

"With this, you can't attack for three turns!" Kanade grinned. "How about that, huh? The swords have turned against you, Tsubasa! And I'm not done! I banish Red-Eyes Wyvern from my graveyard, and then I can bring back my old friend! Take flight again, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

Kanade's mighty dragon returned to the field with a roar.

Tsubasa wordlessly drew a card. "I activate Card of Demise! I can draw until I'm holding three cards, at the cost of me discarding my entire hand by the end of my turn!"

Tsubasa picked three cards from her deck.

"It appears that I won't have to discard anything." Tsubasa said. "I summon The Six Samurai - Irou onto my side of the field."

A warrior with purple armor and a katana appeared next to Swift Gaia.

"Then I'll set two cards and end my turn." Tsubasa said. "And since I don't have anything in my hand, the discard effect of Card of Demise is pointless."

"I draw." Kanade said, as she looked at her hand. She couldn't do anything at the moment. Heart of the cards? More like heart of my ass! "I end my turn."

"Draw." Tsubasa said. "I end my turn."

"I draw!" Kanade said. "...I end my turn."

Crap, the swords are gonna give out at the end of my next turn. So I gotta do something soon...

"Draw." Tsubasa drew another card. "I activate my spell card, Black Luster Ritual!"

Oh shit!

Two pots appeared behind Tsubasa's monsters, as did a stone tablet with a coat of arms.

"With that, I sacrifice both Swift Gaia and Irou!"

The two monsters were absorbed into the pots in a flash of green light, before the pots overflowed with massive bursts of water.

"One soul shall merge with light! The other soul shall merge with the darkness! Between light and darkness, the gate to chaos is opened! Ritual Summon!" Tsubasa held out her arm, as the stone tablet rose. It shot a burst of yellow energy, which landed on the field to reveal a mighty warrior with 3000 attack points. "The Black Luster Soldier descends!"

The crowd cheered as Tsubasa's ace card took to the field.

Tsubasa-san summoned her best monster! Hibiki said, eyes shining in awe.

Kanade didn't share the joy, and started to sweat.

"I end my turn." Tsubasa said.

Oooh man. Basa got her big guy out on the field, and the Swords of Revealing Light lose their effect this turn. Kanade thought. If I don't draw something to save my ass, I'm totally screwed here. Heart of the Cards, don't screw me over now!

"I draw!" Kanade shouted, pulling her card from her deck. She slowly turned it to face her, as she slowly smiled.

"You have a terrible poker face, Kanade." Tsubasa said.

"Well, I have three reasons for that." Kanade said. "One, I'm smiling because I'm having fun. Two, I always love dueling with you and bringing smiles to everyone's face. And three… I'm about to kick your ass! I activate my spell card, Polymerization!"

Tsubasa paled, as Kanade practically slammed her spell card into the slot.

"And I'll fuse the Red-Eyes Black Dragon on the field, and the Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact in my hand!" Kanade declared.

The rocky dragon appeared on the field, before it flew skyward with Red-Eyes Black Dragon into a swirling vortex.

"Walls! Mountains! Planets! Nothing will stand in the way of my partner and I!" Kanade clasped her hands as the fusion completed. "Fusion Summon! Come forth, my very soul!"

A meteor slammed into the ground behind Kanade, before it shattered to reveal a flaming dragon with a rocky design. It roared, shaking the entire stadium.

"Meteor Black Comet Dragon!" Kanade shouted, punching skyward.

The crowd went completely wild, as Kanade's ace monster had taken the field. It was now Tsubasa's Black Luster Soldier against Kanade's Meteor Black Comet Dragon. It was the showdown that one could only dream of seeing in person.

"The fun has only begun!" Kanade declared. "Meteor Black Comet Dragon! Attack the Black Luster Soldier! Dark Meteor Magma Burst!"

Meteor Black Comet Dragon started charging a molten lava ball in its mouth, building up its power.

Underneath the stage was a glass container. Inside it was a crimson card with a powerful aura to it.

A blonde woman in black clothes walked up to it, before smashing her hand on the glass. A few of the shards had cut into her hand, but she ignored it, using her clean hand to take the card.

"They're all fools…"

She held Slifer the Sky Dragon in her hand, and chuckled darkly.

"And now I have what's mine."

She raised one of her hands, as the shadows started to grow stronger…

Up in the stadium, Hibiki had stopped cheering. A chill went down her spine. Something was wrong.

Meteor Black Comet Dragon had stopped its attack, and started to growl.

"Meteor B?" Kanade said. "What's wrong?"

Black Luster Soldier and Tsubasa were both looking around.

Screams were suddenly heard, as from out of nowhere, Duel Monsters appeared. But these weren't the holograms summoned by duelists. The monsters were going around, cutting down whoever they could find. Right behind them were blob-like creatures, with arms shaped like duel disks. Hibiki watched in horror, as the victims seemed to be enveloped in what looked like shadowy fog.

"What…?" Hibiki said quietly. She was terrified, but glued to the spot. "What's going on…?"

Meteor Black Comet Dragon and Black Luster Soldier both looked at their masters, before nodding and fading away into the duel disks. Tsubasa and Kanade looked at each other, looks of determination on their faces.

"Quick! Get to the exits!" Kanade shouted. "Run!"

The viewers heeded her words. The two of them pulled out what appeared to be earpieces.

"D-Gazer! Set!"

They put them onto their ears, as they unfolded into a different shape. They turned into headphone-like devices, with Kanade's having horns and Tsubasa's making a hairclip. The two reactivated their duel disks.

"Noise Duel!"

The headphones projected a scanner holographic eyepiece in front of their left eye.

"How many of them today… five thousand?!" Kanade exclaimed.

"This shouldn't be possible." Tsubasa said. "The protection from Slifer the Sky Dragon should have-"

Tsubasa realized what this meant.

"We failed…" Tsubasa muttered.

"We didn't fail yet, Tsubasa!" Kanade shouted. "Let's send all of these freaks back to the hole they crawled out from!"

Kanade pulled out a card from her deck.

"Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

She summoned it to the field without sacrifice. As she did, a maroon aura flared around her as she roared, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon got to full power.

"Dark Flame Shot!" Kanade shouted.

Red-Eyes Black Dragon fired a shot into the Duel Monsters crowd, incinerating several of them. As the Duel Monsters were destroyed, several of the Noise fell as well.

"Gaia the Fierce Knight!" Tsubasa shouted, placing the card on her duel disk.

Like Kanade, Tsubasa shouted as a blue aura flared around her, as Gaia went to full strength.

"Spiral Shaver!" Tsubasa shouted.

The knight galloped around the stadium, skewering the Duel Monsters.

Hibiki was nearby one of the exits, and she was about to leave, but she turned back. She watched as Kanade and Tsubasa kept on fighting. While the two were doing quite well, she saw stronger monsters enter the field.

A Frostosaurus breathed down a gust of frozen air. It hit Gaia, freezing the knight solid. The monster then stomped down on the knight, shattering it.

"Guh!"

Tsubasa held her chest, as she saw her life point counter had dropped down to 5700.

"Tsubasa!" Kanade shouted.

"I'm fine." Tsubasa reassured her, as she pulled out another card. "Curse of Dragon!"

A green dragon with red spots all over its body took to the sky. The same blue aura flared around her as she shouted.

Seeing the Idol Duelists work so hard stirred something up in Hibiki. She activated her duel disk, and took out one of her cards. Would this even work?

"Um… Speed Warrior!"

The mechanical warrior with wheels on its feet sprung to life from her duel disk.

"Yes! It worked!" Hibiki made a small fist pump. "Wait…"

She looked closer. Despite what the card said normally, Speed Warrior was lacking any of its attack points.

"Huh? What wrong, Speed Warrior?"

The monster turned back to face her.

"Ah! You responded!"

Speed Warrior didn't move, but simply looked at her. Hibiki couldn't read him through his visor… but was he telling her that he trusted her?

"Right… I gotta remember to believe in my cards." Hibiki said. "Believe in my cards!"

Speed Warrior nodded at her, before he turned to face an oncoming opponent.

"Ah! A Hitotsu-Me Giant!" Hibiki exclaimed.

The green, one-eyed cyclops was stomping towards Hibiki with its powerful arms and piercing gaze.

"Ah…" Hibiki clenched her fists. "Raaaaaaah!"

A golden aura flared around her as she shouted, and Speed Warrior's attack power jumped up to its rightful placement of 900.

"I activate Speed Warrior's special ability!" Hibiki shouted. "With that, Speed Warrior's attack is doubled!"

Speed Warrior's attack power jumped up to 1800.

"That's more like it!" Hibiki said. "Speed Warrior, Sonic Edge!"

The monster rushed forward at Hitotsu-Me Giant. It flipped, before grinding its wheels into the giant's neck with a devastating kick. The giant shattered, and Speed Warrior went back to his master's side. Hibiki watched as the Noise's "duel disk" went from 1 life point to zero, as it faded away as soon as the giant fell.

"I… I did it!" Hibiki said, jumping in victory as Speed Warrior's attack points went back to 900. She looked over to see Kanade had summoned a Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning to fight alongside her Red-Eyes Black Dragon. "Oh, so you can summon multiple monsters… Then come out, Quillbolt Hedgehog!"

Placing another card on her duel disk, the adorable hedgehog with bolts for quills appeared.

"Speed Warrior! Quillbolt Hedgehog! We need to go over there and help them!"

The warrior picked up Hibiki in his arms and sped towards the center stage, sliding down the rails. Quillbolt Hedgehog ran after them.

"How you holding up, Basa?" Kanade called.

"Fine, for the most part." Tsubasa said, as Curse of Dragon blasted away another monster.

"Well, that's good-"

Kanade was cut off, as a Cosmo Queen blasted away her Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

"Tch…" She watched as her life points dropped down to 5600. "Sneaky little-!"

A PSY-Frame Driver entered an electrical bout with Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning, which ended with both monsters overloading with electricity and exploding. The explosion knocked Kanade onto her back, dropping her life points to 3100.

"Kanade!" Tsubasa shouted, before an Alexandrite Dragon flew upwards and crashed into Curse of Dragon in a double KO, knocking Tsubasa out of the sky as her life points fell to 3700.

"Shit!" Kanade scrambled to get up. "Tsubasa!"

"Max Warrior!"

A bulky warrior with brown armor and green clothes caught Tsubasa before she could hit the ground. It floated down safely towards the main stage.

"Tsubasa!" Kanade ran over to her friend.

"I'm… fine, Kanade." Tsubasa muttered, slowly standing up as Max Warrior let her down. "But who…?"

"Hey! Are you guys alright?" Hibiki shouted, as Speed Warrior landed onto the main stage and Quillbolt Hedgehog ran up.

"Huh? Who the hell are you?" Kanade asked.

"Ah, I'm Hibiki Tachibana, age 15! My birthday is September 13th, and my blood type is O!"

Kanade and Tsubasa just stared as the girl went on. While Tsubasa was mostly confused, Kanade couldn't help but be a bit amused at the type of person their rescuer was.

"-and I've never had a boyfriend in my life!"

"...what?" Tsubasa managed to say, as Kanade laughed.

"You guys take a break!" Hibiki said. "I can help!"

"Wait!" Tsubasa shouted, as Hibiki ran off, Max Warrior and Speed Warrior right alongside her.

"Max Warrior! Swift Rush!"

Max Warrior brandished his staff, before obliterating an Alligator's Sword with a series of quick thrusts.

"I activate Max Warrior's ability!" Hibiki shouted. "If he destroys a monster in battle, I can halve its attack and defense points, and lower his level to 2!"

Max Warrior took a knee, as his power grew weaker.

"Why would she do that?!" Tsubasa shouted. "She just made her monster weaker!"

Kanade simply watched the girl.

"And then I summon Junk Synchron!" Hibiki shouted, as a little orange warrior with scraps all over its body took the field. "With my level 2 Quillbolt Hedgehog, I tune it with my level 3 Junk Synchron!"

Junk Synchron pulled a cord on its body, before turning into three rings of light. Quillbolt Hedgehog flew into the rings, becoming transparent and turning into two stars.

"Gathering stars will call upon a new force! Become the path its light shines upon!" Hibiki shouted.

A green beam of light pierced the stars, lighting up the rings.

"Synchro Summon! My partner, Junk Warrior!"

From the portal flew out a mechanical indigo warrior, with glowing red eyes and flowing white scarf. It punched forward with a mighty 2300 attack points.

"And now, Junk Warrior's ability, Power of Fellows!" Hibiki shouted. "Junk Warrior gains the attack points of every level 2 or lower monster on my field! With Speed Warrior, and the now level 2 Max Warrior, Junk Warrior gains 1800 attack points!"

Junk Warrior shouted, as its attack points jumped up to 4100.

"And I'm not done! I'll add on the equip spell card, Synchro Boost! This gives Junk Warrior an extra 500 attack points, and one more level!"

Junk Warrior now stood at level six, with an incredible 4600 attack points.

"Go, Junk Warrior!" Hibiki shouted. "Scrap Fist!"

Junk Warrior flew forward with rocket boosts on his back. He smashed his fist into Cosmo Queen and Frostosaurus, shattering them. Speed Warrior and Max Warrior (the latter now back to full power) flew right alongside Junk Warrior, taking out small fry.

"Whoa… kid's not half bad." Kanade commented, as Tsubasa observed as well. "But let's not have her show us up, shall we?"

Tsubasa nodded, as she stood up.

"I activate Dragon's Mirror!" Tsubasa called. "And I fuse the Curse of Dragon and Gaia the Fierce Knight in my graveyard, to fusion summon Gaia the Dragon Champion!"

Curse of Dragon reappeared on the battlefield, with Gaia now riding on its back. The creature boasted an impressive 2600 attack.

"I activate Monster Reborn!" Kanade announced. "With it, I bring back good ol' Red-Eyes!"

Red-Eyes Black Dragon took to the field.

"Then I activate Polymerization!" Kanade shouted. "And I fuse it with the Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact in my hand!"

The two dragons entered the swirl once again.

"Walls! Mountains! Planets! Nothing will stand in the way of my partner and I! Fusion Summon!" Kanade shouted as she clasped her hands. "Come forth, my very soul! Meteor Black Comet Dragon!"

Kanade's powerful dragon of 3500 attack points took to the sky again. The two monsters took care of more stragglers.

Yes! I'm doing it! Hibiki thought, as her monsters battled against the ones summoned by the Noise. My monsters are kicking butt! We'll be able to-!

Max Warrior stabbed at a Gil Garth, clashing against the steel fiend's katana, but they both shattered.

"Max Warrior!" Hibiki called. "Aagh!"

She got down to one knee, wincing. She felt as if she had just gotten an electric shock. Just… what was that?

Speed Warrior rushed at a huge Ironhammer the Giant, and smashed his foot into the monster's face. The giant crumbled, but cracks grew from Speed Warrior's leg, before they traveled up the entire body. The warrior let out a cry as he exploded.

"No! Speed Warrior!" Hibiki cried. "Aah!"

The pain again. What was going on? The holograms normally don't deal this much damage feedback. She looked as her life points were now 5300.

"Urgh…" Hibiki groaned. "What's…?"

"Look out!" Kanade called.

Hibiki looked up, and her pupils shrank. Standing over her was a massive dragon with five heads. One for each Attribute. It let out a terrifying roar, as it brandished 5000 attack points.

"They summoned a Five-Headed Dragon…?" Tsubasa muttered, in disbelief.

"I'll handle that!" Hibiki shouted, though her voice failed to hide her fear. "I activate my spell card, Half Shut! The targeted monster can't be destroyed by battle, but its attack power is halved! And it doesn't matter in the first place, since an Earth Attribute monster like Junk Warrior can't destroy it anyways, but this'll damage you enough!"

Five-Headed Dragon's attack points dropped down to 2500.

"Wait!" Kanade shouted.

"Junk Warrior! Scrap Fist!" Hibiki shouted.

Junk Warrior flew up and smashed his fist straight into the dragon's chest. There was a massive explosion, and Junk Warrior flew down to his master.

"Yeah! That showed him!"

The smoke faded, and Hibiki paled. Five-Headed Dragon was still standing, as was its Noise master.

"Wh-Wha?!" Hibiki shouted. "What happened?!"

"Battle damage isn't a thing for Noise Duels, kid!" Kanade shouted. "MOVE!"

Junk Warrior picked up Hibiki and rocketed away, but the Five-Headed Dragon regained its 5000 attack points, before blasting it straight in the back with 5 elemental beams. The monster shattered, and all of the damage went straight to Hibiki.

"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!"

Hibiki screamed as she felt the pain, the blast knocked her into the stadium wall, before she crumpled onto the ground. Her life points dropped down to a measly 700.

"No!" Kanade ran towards Hibiki, picking the girl up. "Open your eyes! You're not out of the game, so don't give up on life!"

Hibiki was struggling to keep her eyes open, but they met Kanade's. Kanade could hear Tsubasa commanding Gaia the Dragon Champion, as well as her own Meteor Black Comet Dragon blasting away. But at the moment, all that mattered to her was that Hibiki would be able to pull through.

Looking at the hordes of Noise, she realized that she couldn't protect Hibiki, while fighting off against the horde. She and Tsubasa would be overwhelmed. She looked at the cards she had in her hand.

That meant there was only one thing to do.

She gently set Hibiki down against the wall, and took a deep breath. She took a few cards out of her deck, before putting them into Hibiki's hand.

"Take care of them for me." She told Hibiki.

She gently patted the girl on the head.

"Keep on fighting, Hibiki. I think you're gonna be the best duelist in the world one day. As long as you still have life points left, don't give up on life."

Kanade stood up, and started to walk away. Hibiki tried to focus and look at the cards Kanade gave her.

Red-Eyes Black Dragon…? Red-Eyes Fusion…? And… She looked at the last card. A fusion monster that she had never seen before. Red-Eyes...? She couldn't make out the rest, as her vision started to blur.

Kanade went up to Meteor Black Comet Dragon, which had lowered its head down to her.

"What do you think, buddy?"

Meteor Black Comet Dragon gave a low growl of approval.

"Yeah, I know." Kanade said. "I can tell that kid's gonna go places."

Her dragon closed its eyes and put its head towards her. Kanade sadly stroked the dragon's head.

"I'm sorry this is goodbye." Kanade said. "But you understand, don't you?"

The dragon gave a low growl, one that sounded as if it were crying.

Kanade was trying her best to hold back her own tears. "I…"

The dragon's growl went slightly more menacing.

"I'm not giving up, I'm giving them a chance." She said. "Stay strong for me, okay?"

Meteor Black Comet Dragon seemed satisfied, before it raised its head and roared. Tsubasa and Gaia stopped fighting and turned.

"I activate the trap card, Ring of Destruction!" Kanade yelled.

Tsubasa's pupils shrank, as she saw the collar of flames appear on Five-Headed Dragon.

"Kanade!" Tsubasa shouted. "Don't!"

"With this, your Dragon is toast!" Kanade shouted. "That effect damage is gonna take each Noise out for every attack point it has! Normally that would inflict 5000 damage to every human player, but I activate Ring of Defense! Protect Tsubasa!"

A green rotating ring appeared in front of Tsubasa. Tsubasa knew Kanade had two copies of Ring of Defense in her deck. And Kanade wouldn't pull a move like this in a Noise Duel unless she had both, right?

"And then I activate my second Ring of Defense…" Kanade said, as another rotating ring appeared. "...protect Hibiki."

The second ring went in front of Hibiki and protected the girl from any further harm. While this meant the civilian was safe, Tsubasa realized the horrific outcome.

"KANADE!" Tsubasa screamed.

The flaming ring glew, before exploding. Five-Headed Dragon went up in a fiery explosion that incinerated each and every last Noise. The Rings of Defense blocked the flames, keeping Hibiki and Tsubasa alive, but Kanade…

The girl fell backwards, as the flames washed over her. Meteor Black Comet Dragon let out a roar, before shattering as Kanade's life points hit zero.

Gaia the Dragon Champion faded away, as the duel was over, but Tsubasa didn't notice as she ran over to Kanade. The fiery redhead had burn marks all over her clothes, but her body was untouched.

"Kanade!" Tsubasa shouted, pulling her friend into her arms. "Kanade!"

"Hey… Tsubasa…" Kanade weakly coughed out. "Guess I lost, huh…?"

"No… as far as I'm aware, you won." Tsubasa said, tears dropping. "You saved me and that girl."

"Yeah...? Well, I guess I did what I wanted…"

Kanade's body started to turn transparent, as the fog around them grew thicker.

"Tsubasa… I wish we could've finished that duel." Kanade said softly. "But now that's never gonna happen, huh…?"

Seeing the shadows grow stronger, Tsubasa merely pulled her friend into a hug. Kanade returned it, but Tsubasa felt her friend's arms for only a few seconds.

"I'm sorry… Tsubasa…"

The fog blinded Tsubasa's vision completely, before she could no longer feel Kanade. When the shadows faded, Kanade's duel disk and D-Gazer clattered to the ground, and her deck spilled out all over the floor.

Tsubasa looked at her shaking hands. She grabbed at empty air, almost unable to accept the fact that Kanade had disappeared.

Kanade Amou was gone. Lost to the Shadow Realm.

All Tsubasa Kazanari could do was scream.

2 years had passed since that fateful day.

Kanade Amou was only one of many that were declared missing that day.

The attack on the concert had caused the world to classify the Noise as a world threat, developing countermeasures and emergency shelters. Despite this, there had been no reports of Noise in the past two years at all.

Hibiki had taken Kanade's words to heart. After surviving, she started training, perfecting her deck to make it incredibly strong. But rising to the top? That was something she wasn't sure she could do…

"Tachibana!"

Hibiki snapped up with a snort, no longer napping. The teacher was practically glaring at her, and Hibiki could feel that every eye was on her. Miku, who was sitting next to her, sighed at her friend's usual antics.

"Well, since Tachibana was paying attention, I suppose she can answer this question?" The teacher said, pointing at the screen, displaying several cards on the field.

Lydian Private Duel Academy was a prestigious duel school, possibly as famous as the legendary Duel Academia. Hibiki had managed to enroll here by easily defeating the registration duelist, but it took a lot of time for her to get used to the fact it wasn't like regular school.

"Please explain how you can win in this single turn, Tachibana." The teacher said.

Hibiki swallowed, before looking at the cards and formulating a plan. Normally, she'd go with her gut feeling, but sometimes, thinking actually got her somewhere.

Okay, the enemy has 4000 life points, and three Blue-Eyes White Dragons on their field. I have Seven Tools of the Bandit face-down, 500 life points, and 5 cards in my hand. And they're Dark Magician, Buster Blader, Diffusion Wave-Motion, Polymerization and Emergency Provisions. There's nothing in our graveyards or decks. How do I get out of this?

"Tachibana? I'm waiting."

Wait, this is similar to a duel I read about, that happened a really long time ago… ah! I got it!

"I'd first activate the spell card, Emergency Provisions." Hibiki said. "And I'd use it on Seven Tools of the Bandit to gain 1000 life points. And then I'd use Polymerization to fuse Dark Magician and Buster Blader to make Dark Paladin!"

The teacher didn't say anything, but motioned for her to go on.

"With three dragons on the field, Dark Paladin would get a 1500 attack point boost to 4400." Hibiki said. "Then I can use Diffusion Wave-Motion to pay 1000 life points and let Dark Paladin attack all three of the Blue-Eyes White Dragons, dealing um…"

She held up her fingers and counted.

"...4200 points of damage! And that's how I'd win!"

The teacher gave Hibiki a small smile. "Correct. Perhaps I was wrong in assuming you weren't paying attention."

Hibiki let out a breath of relief, as the teacher continued on with the lecture.

"You're really lucky that you're so good at dueling, Hibiki." Miku said. "If this was a normal school, you wouldn't survive at all."

Then again, you wouldn't have gotten it two years ago. You only really got serious about dueling after the concert...

Hibiki sighed. "Yeah. I guess."

"Do you even remember why you enrolled in the first place?" Miku asked.

"Of course!" Hibiki said. "I want to become a great duelist."

Miku nodded, as she went back to paying attention to the lesson. Hibiki was lost in her own thoughts.

But the real reason I came here was to find a chance to talk to Tsubasa-san. She could probably explain to me what happened on that day.

Tsubasa had become a solo Idol Duelist since that day. However, compared to her win/loss ratio back when she was part of Zwei Wing, her record had become a lot more spotty, as of recent. It was a good thing she also made quite a bit from her songs as well. She definitely had the answers that Hibiki was looking for...

"Tachibana!" The teacher yelled.

"Ah! Sorry!"

Hibiki and Miku sat down at the lunch table. The two of them had bought a booster pack each from the school's shop. It was a tradition for them to each buy a pack when the new shipment came in, and for them to open it before they got lunch.

"Okay, here we go…" Miku tore off the top, and slid out the cards face-down. Hibiki did the same with her pack. "

They flipped it over at the same time, going through the cards they had.

"I can't use any of these…" Miku frowned, as her pack had turned up nothing but junk.

"Ooh!"

Miku looked up to see Hibiki staring in awe at some of the cards in her hand.

"I got this!"

Hibiki held up a Scapegoat card.

"That's a really useful card, Hibiki." Miku noted. A cute card too...

"Hey, Miku. You didn't check the last one." Hibiki said.

Miku realized she hadn't flipped the last card. She just assumed it would be a bad pull as well. But when she flipped it over, she got a huge surprise.

"Stardust Dragon?!" They exclaimed, looking at the signature card of Yusei Fudo.

She shouldn't be too shocked, since the cards of legendary duelists of the pasts have been reprinted in this modern day. But seeing this card was still incredibly shocking, especially thanks to its rarity.

"I'm so jealous…" Hibiki muttered. "It would work so well with my deck…"

"Well, then you can have it." Miku said, holding out the card to her.

"Eh?!" Hibiki held up her hands. "Why?! That's such a rare card, Miku!"

"Well, you know I don't use synchro monsters." Miku said. "It would be better off with you. Think of it like my gift."

"Well, I can't just take it!" Hibiki said. "I'll trade Scapegoat for it!"

Miku smiled, as they exchanged cards.

"It doesn't seem like a fair trade though…" Hibiki admitted.

"I disagree." Miku said, holding up Scapegoat. "I promise I'll treasure this card, Hibiki."

"And same to you!" Hibiki grinned. "Well, I'm starving now. Gotta get me some of that rice…"

She stood up, but didn't watch where she was going.

"Ah!"

Hibiki bumped into another girl, and her deck was sent spilling.

"Sorry! Sorry!" Hibiki apologized, as she went to picking up her cards. Wordlessly, the other girl helped pick them up for her. She held out the neatly stacked cards to Hibiki, who took back the other half of her deck. "Thanks for the help…"

Hibiki widened her eyes, as she realized she was face-to-face with Tsubasa Kazanari. With how cold her eyes seemed, she wasn't sure if the idol recognized her.

"You should take better care of your cards, Hibiki Tachibana." Tsubasa told her, before walking past.

So she did recognize me… Hibiki thought. Agh, why did I freeze up?! I needed to ask her a question!

"Um, Hibiki?" Miku said.

"Huh? What is it, Miku?"

"You dropped your cards again."

"AHHH!"

Tsubasa reached the doorway and stopped, looking back as Hibiki was picking up her cards once more.

Hibiki Tachibana… you're still an enigma to me…

She briefly tightened her fist, before leaving the cafeteria.

Hibiki flopped facedown on the floor of her dorm, as Miku was sitting down at the table, organizing her own cards.

"This is the worst…" Hibiki groaned. "She probably thinks I'm a total weirdo now…"

"Even with your top dueling marks, most of the school already does." Miku said, sorting her deck. Why she did so when the decks were to be shuffled at the beginning of a duel, no one knew. She claimed that she just enjoyed the temporary organization.

Hibiki simply murmured into the carpet, before rolling and looking at the poster on the wall. It was one of Tsubasa in a blue dress, holding a mic as Black Luster Soldier stood alongside her.

It was then that Hibiki realized that today was an important day, and she sat up quickly. She quickly changed out of her school clothes, before tossing on her more casual wear.

"What's got you in a hurry?" Miku asked.

"Ah, Tsubasa-san's CD is out today!" Hibiki grinned. "I gotta go and grab it before it's all sold out!"

Miku remembered that Tsubasa had published all of her songs from her Sound Duels in CDs. They sold quite well, furthering her career. It definitely helped that they came with a random rare card as a bonus.

"Alright, but don't come back too late, okay?" Miku said.

"Yeah, I know!" Hibiki said.

She put one hand on the doorknob, but stopped.

Hibiki looked over to the dresser, before grabbing the lone deck box that sat on top. She briefly dusted it off, before looking inside. The three cards that she had received two years ago were still there, untouched.

Normally, she'd never take them out, but… her gut feeling told her to.

She slid the cards out, before putting it into her belt's deck box, adding it to the rest of her cards. She didn't know why she did, but it felt right.

Miku was so absorbed into her own cards that she didn't notice Hibiki didn't leave yet. Hibiki quietly slipped out, making sure she didn't make any loud noise to distract her.

"CD… rare card… CD… rare card…"

Hibiki repeated the words as she ran down the street. She turned the corner, but the moment she did, she stopped walking. She suddenly felt nauseous, and leaned against the building wall.

Ugh… She held her head. What's going on...?

She then felt something warm against her leg, looking down to see that her deck box was glowing. She opened it, and pulled out one of the cards, which was the source of the heat and light.

"Red-Eyes Black Dragon…?" Hibiki muttered.

She heard a roar and fell onto her rear.

"Are you trying to tell me something…?" She asked.

She heard the roars again, but this time, she realized that it wasn't the card that was roaring. She looked around, and saw several Duel Monsters roaring over the buildings. When she squinted, she could see the Noise.

"Wh-Wha?!" Hibiki yelled, quickly standing up. "It's happening again?!"

She ran forward, until she got a better view. Her pupils shrank, as she saw people getting attacked by the monsters. The shadows took them, one by one.

Gritting her teeth, Hibiki brought up her arm, holding up her duel disk. But she found herself unable to activate it.

She looked at her hand, which was shaking. Was this… fear?

She remembered how the Five-Headed Dragon had destroyed her Junk Warrior, blasting her into a wall. She remembered how much it hurt.

No one would blame her if she turned around and ran for the nearest shelter. It's what everyone was doing, after all.

Then she heard someone crying, as she turned and saw a little girl cowering against a wall, as a Pitch-Dark Dragon about to pounce.

Kanade's words rang in her mind.

"As long as you still have life points left, don't give up on life."

Hibiki activated her duel disk, the fear pushed down as a determined glint appeared in her eyes.

"Noise Duel!"

The life point counter popped up to 8000.

"Speed Warrior! Dash Warrior!" Hibiki shouted, placing the two cards onto her duel disk.

The familiar warrior of speed appeared, as did a similar card with red armor, boasting a measly 600 attack points.

"I activate Speed Warrior's special ability!" Hibiki shouted. "His attack's now doubled!"

"Speed Warrior! Sonic Edge!"

Speed Warrior rushed towards Pitch-Dark Dragon. With its powered up attack points, he shredded right through the dragon without much issue.

"Yes! Good work, Speed Warrior!" Hibiki cheered for her monster.

The monster looked back at her, before giving her a thumbs-up. Dash Warrior wheeled over, before kneeling to the little girl. She had brown hair, and it was done up in twin tails. She looked fearful as Dash Warrior reached out to her.

"Don't worry!" Hibiki called to her. "It's fine! It's going to be okay!"

Reluctantly, the girl let Dash Warrior pick her up. Speed Warrior sped towards Hibiki, before picking her up as well.

"Get us out of here, guys!" Hibiki ordered.

The two warriors nodded, before they took off down the road in a burst of speed. The Noise-controlled Duel Monsters tried to grab them, but they couldn't match the speed of the two.

The enemy Duel Monsters tried to cut them off, as a Luster Dragon unleashed a burst of energy on the path in front of them. Speed Warrior and Dash Warrior made a hard left, running straight towards a dock that led off into the open water.

"We're trapped!" The little girl shouted.

Hibiki quickly looked around, before seeing a sheet of metal slanting upwards as it leaned against the dock railing.

"Jump off that!" Hibiki shouted.

Her warriors obeyed, ramping off the slant. While Hibiki kept relatively calm, the little girl was screaming in fear as they flew through the air. The warriors landed, their wheels screeching as they had cleared the jump and landed on solid concrete. The two let Hibiki and the little girl down. Hibiki quickly ran over to comfort the girl.

"Are we gonna die…?" She asked Hibiki, tears running down her face.

Hibiki gave the girl a reassuring smile and shook her head. She was about to tell Speed Warrior and Dash Warrior that they needed to keep moving, but she didn't even get a chance to say her sentence.

As they were now completely surrounded by Duel Monsters and Noise.

The little girl cried out in fear, before clinging onto Hibiki tighter. Speed Warrior and Dash Warrior held up their fists, ready to fight to the end. Hibiki was about to summon another monster to support them… before she saw one of the cards glowing in her hand. The Duel Monsters and Noise began to step back at the glowing light, as Hibiki held it up.

As she felt the card in her fingers, a smirk made its way onto her face. One not unlike a familiar redhead Idol Duelist.

"So you think you can take us down?" Hibiki asked. "Is that so?"

The little girl looked up at Hibiki, the tears gone.

"Well then, FACE THIS!" Hibiki shouted, holding up the card skyward, as the light pushed back the enemy.

In a secret location, several people were at work, monitoring the situation. Oddly enough, Tsubasa Kazanari stood at the back of the large room, arms crossed.

"Detecting Noise Duel!" A woman with dark blue hair shouted.

"Analyzing Duel Monster cards!" A man with light brown hair shouted, before his eyes widened. "N-No way…!"

"Bring up the scan!" A muscular man with red hair ordered.

The name of the monster appeared on the screen, causing many to gasp. A visual came up on the screen, showing Hibiki holding up a card.

"I summon the Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" Hibiki shouted, placing the card onto her duel disk. Electricity crackled around her, before the familiar dragon descended, letting out a proud roar.

The screen put up the details as Hibiki summoned the monster. The familiar Level 7, Dark Attribute, Dragon Type Normal Monster with 2400 attack and 2000 defense had taken flight.

"Red-Eyes Black Dragon datto?!" The man in red shouted.

Tsubasa's eyes widened as she saw the screen.

That girl… why does she have Kanade's monster?!

Red-Eyes Black Dragon let out another roar, as Speed Warrior and Dash Warrior flanked right beside it. Hibiki was confidently grinning, as her hair had gotten slightly messier and sharper.

"I hope you monsters are ready for this!" Hibiki shouted. "Because it's time to duel!"

A/N: Welcome everyone, to my newest fanfiction. Remember how Katsumi Ono, the director for Symphogear G to XV, also was the main director for ARC-V, as well as a few episodes of Duel Monsters and 5Ds?

Well, let's bring those two series together, shall we? But first, some ground rules.

I will be using cards specifically with their official card game effects.

There will be no anime-only cards.

Every duelist will start with 8000 life points.

There will be no Pendulum or Link monsters, as well as no Rush Duels.

So please, try to read and not ask these questions, okay?

With that said, I'm excited to get this story off the ground.

Oh, and I have a Discord for my fanfics too! You can find the link on my Writing Twitter; Kamen Writer Sam.

NOTE: This story was originally called "Symphogear YGO", but I changed it to "Song of the Cards" after feedback.

With that said, feel free to leave a review. And I'll see you all next time.

New Dueling Style Terminology:

Sound Duel: When someone has a life point advantage, the duel disks play a song in their favor. This is solely aesthetic, and does not result in actual gameplay changes.

Noise Duel: Battle royale style. Normal duelists can summon their monsters with any amount of ATK or DEF as long as it's within the limits of the values written on the card. But when the monster is destroyed in ATK mode, they lose life points equal to the current ATK of the monster. Functions similar to the Dimension Duel from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions. Trap cards can be activated like spell cards. Battle damage is non-existent. The moment Noise take damage of any sort, they immediately disintegrate. Effect damage is dealt fully to human duelists, while each Noise takes only one point (as they only have one point of life), and the effect damage spreads (for example, if effect damage of 100 is dealt, 100 Noise will be killed). Normal duelists start with 8000 life points (the real life number), instead of 4000. When their life points hit zero, they're sent to the Shadow Realm. Any non-duelists, or those with inactive duel disks, hit the monsters summoned by the Noise get instantly taken by the shadows, and their likelihood of survival is minimal. Only those that are attuned with Duel Monster spirits can participate in Noise Duels.
