Ch25

Adrien watched as the remains of his mother were interned right next to his father's body. It was a private ceremony and by that he meant just him, his bodyguard, along with Felix and Kagami. Mother. Father. I hope you both rest well.

His body was numb as he looked at his father's coffin, I don't know I could ever have forgiven you for all that you did. But I will always love you as my father.

"Adrien are you ok?" Kagami asked.

He nodded. "I am. It's all over now." Hawkmoth was gone this time once and for all. With a sigh he looked up at the sky. I've come a long ways since I was young. His gaze drifted to the cat miraculous on his finger and the butterfly miraculous on his cuffs. I really wish I could've known the truth. He doubted he would've sided with his father but it was a family affair and he loved his family despite its short comings.

Lila and Thomas Astruc were both given very heavy sentences. Lila's antics were exposed for all of France to see, many deemed her a psychopath but in the end the court saw through her lies and she was given a harsh sentence while her partner in crime Thomas Astruc was given a lighter, but still heavy sentence. Though he also heard he had a mental break down and was admitted to the psych ward.

As he walked back to his limo he noticed Marinette spying on him from the side. He sighed and turned to his bodyguard. "I'll be back in a few minutes."

He walked up to Marinette who awkwardly avoided his gaze. "Uh hey Adrien," she said softly.

"Hey." He looked at her wondering what she could have to say. "Please don't tell me you are going back to your old ways?"

Marinette's faced reddened. "Wh-What do you mean?"

He sighed. "The more I think about it, I always found it weird how you were always around me. It was almost as if you knew my schedule."

Marinette's face turned a deep scarlet as she tried to form a response. "I-I-I uh…"

He cut her off. "If you want to be my friend you should respect my boundaries and ask to hang out like a normal person."

Marinette looked towards the ground. "I'm sorry."

"I'll keep the butterfly with me for a bit," he said softly. "There are things I want to know."

"I understand. Just keep it safe," Marinette said.

"I will."

He turned around and walked a few steps away when Marinette called out to him again. "Adrien do you think we could you know be like it was in the past…" She looked at him with a starry eyed gaze. "I didn't know you were you know…" She avoided his gaze. "My partner."

He looked towards where his father was interned. "Sometimes you have to see what life has in store for you. I'm going to rebuild my family, I wish you luck with your own life."

Marinette avoided his gaze. "It's just not fair."

"Life isn't fair." He met her gaze. "But we can only choose how we respond to our actions. See you around Marinette." He turned around and paused. "Oh by the way if you want to be my friend again I really hope you respect my boundaries. I'd rather not get the law involved if you invade my personal space without my consent."

Marinette flinched, her face turning red as he headed back to his car. Whatever life has in store for me I'll face it head on.

He thought of his mother, his father, and Nathalie. I'll always love you all and cherish the times we had together, both the good and the bad. As he sat in his car he looked at the cat miraculous on his finger. I won't let anyone harm those I love. He looked at the butterfly miraculous and gently traced it. "I'll live my life to the fullest and keep this city safe."

Whether as Cat Noir or Adrien he would make sure to live up to the memory of those he loved. A smile spread across his face as he looked up at the sky, for once in a long time it was as if all of his worries were no longer there.

"Adrien are you ok?" Plagg asked.

He looked down at his friend and nodded. "I will be. I think I may take a mini vacation." It was about time he did something for himself.

Plagg smiled at him. "Will there be cheese?"

He laughed. "Of course. Anything for you." It was about time he cherished those that were close to him.

AN: Well with that this is the end of this story. Sorry if it feels anticlimatic and rushed, I'm still new at writing. Personally I couldn't make the plot fit for a larger story so I decided to make it shorter due to personal matters. I won't say no to continuing this story in the future but for now I think I will end it where it is. I do have some other ideas for miraculous ladybug so stay tuned for them if you want.

Personally I just wanted to get this story out due to the fact that I am having some problems in my personal life and know that if I waited I probably would never finish it. Thanks to those that supported this story, who knows I may add more to it in the future.
