Although Chris was avoiding his mother in the wake of her discovering her identity and pregnancy, he still wanted to celebrate her on Mother's Day in case he didn't get the chance again. But the mere thought made him nervous and while he was panicking, he decided roping his older baby brother into the plan was the best course of action. "You want to help me celebrate Mom, Wy?" he asked the toddler.
Wyatt clapped his hands in excitement. "Mama!" he shouted.
Chris bobbed his head in agreement. "That's right." He told Paige - the only one home - where they were going before they disappeared and scared the shit out of everyone - then grabbed Wyatt's hand and quietly orbed them to a store so he could buy a card with the little money he had on him. He crouched down next to Wyatt. "What card do you think Mom's going to love?"
Wyatt glanced up and down the aisle, dragging his brother with him, until he found the perfect card, and pointed it out to Chris. "This!" he yelled.
Chris looked at the card, deemed it perfect, and then the two of them walked over to the cashier so he could pay. They left and then quietly orbed back home.
When Mother's Day rolled around only two days later, Chris sneakily orbed in the manor, grabbed his brother, and gave him the card. Wyatt immediately tried to put it in his mouth, and Chris could only sigh. "Seriously? Babies really do eat anything," he muttered under his breath. He blew out a breath as he tracked down his mother, finding her in the kitchen.
Piper's eyes lit up when she laid eyes on Chris. "Chris! Came over to hang out with your mother today?" she asked hopefully.
His eyes downcast, Chris shook his head. "Can't, following a lead in the underworld," he lied. It was only half true - he'd probably orb down there to see if his demon contacts had anything new for him since his last check-in.
"Oh." Although hurt, she pushed it aside and smiled at the sight of both her boys.
"Your turn, Wy. Give the card to Mom," he urged, setting the toddler down.
"Did you and Chris give Mommy something?" asked a delighted Piper. Embarrassed, Chris chose not to look his mother in the eyes as Wyatt handed the card over. She teared up immediately upon opening and reading the card wishing her a happy Mother's Day. "Thanks, baby. And thank you, Christopher. I'm proud to call both of you my sons." Early pregnancy wasn't being kind to her but she'd forgive Chris (and Leo) for that eventually.
"You're welcome." Chris ducked his head while Piper hugged Wyatt. She wanted to hug her other son but strongly suspected he wouldn't be into it and reluctantly stepped back.
"You sure you can't stay for a while?" an earnest Piper tried.
"I'm sure but thanks anyway, Piper." Chris flashed her a smile and orbed back out, clearly in an attempt to avoid her.
Piper sighed sadly. "I think your little brother hates me," she informed Wyatt.
Wyatt kissed her on the cheek and she let him go once he demanded to be let down. Piper drowned in angst the rest of the day over Chris hating her (even though Paige and Phoebe insisted that wasn't the case) and missed Leo so much she couldn't stand it. The morning sickness didn't let up either, which only made things worse.
Leo, her sisters, and the boys would pull out all the stops to celebrate Piper the following year since her first two Mother's Day celebrations didn't go so well. She and Leo were technically in the same boat since he wound up missing his first two Father's Day celebrations completely. They didn't get one drama free until after the Ultimate Battle.
