Jacques Schnee did not like many people, and many people didn't like him, but when it came to buying dust, there would be no one else that the people could turn to than him and his company, since he has been able to gain an even tighter grip on the dust trade.
Higher quality dust and a higher output of said dust made him even richer, and along with getting rid of the competition since Schnee dust was the best on the market, he was even able to make it cheaper so that more people would love him!
The way he made and gathered the dust, of course, drew attention, but with some bribes, he was able to make sure that no one was able to know the truth about his new dust methods since if they did, then his company would be destroyed and he would most definitely be tried for crimes against existence.
That being slavery—faunus slavery, to be specific. He would be able to push the faunafauna to their limits, save on amenities such as lighting due to them being able to see in the dark, and finally, he didn't even need to pay them; he could even put the children to work!
It was amazing, and it had boosted his company to new heights, even if he had to keep it all under wraps along with his new business partner and the people who were personally delivering his slaves.
Jacques threw down a cigar as he and his security detail awaited their business partner's aircraft to arrive on the airstrip next to the S.D.C.'s biggest mining site, which resembled more of a work camp than a quarry, the design coming from his business partner.
He soon heard the aircraft, and not too long after, two large aircraft came in for a landing, both of them bearing the mark of an E surrounded by stars. Once they landed, their back doors opened as cages filled with fresh Faunus slaves were rolled out by some kind of worker botbot.
Alongside them stepped out men clad in jet black uniforms, black body armor covering most of the body, a black gas mask with yellow lenses covering the face, and a black helmet covering the head, with the helmet bearing the same mark as the aircraft.
The Enclave, as they called themselves, were a mysterious group that had contacted Jaques one day. He was weary about them and their deal, but once the money started flowing and production ramped up, he quickly grew to love them.
Their deal was pretty simple: The Enclave would deliver slaves to Jaques along with helping him keep things under wraps, and in return, Jaques just gave them his highest quality dust—a pretty good trade deal that made the two groups best friends.
As the leader of the group walked up to Jaques, a man named John Lee spoke as the cages filled with the slaves rolled past him: "Your monthly delivery, Mr. Schnee. The best Faunus stock our boys could find."
Jaques inspected the slaves and nodded before speaking, "Every delivery your organization delivers even more fauna; how do you do it without attracting attention?" Lee spoke as he chuckled. "Let's just say that our organization is quite proficient in kidnapping mutants."
Jaques really never understood why the Enclave called Faunus 'Mutants; maybe it was some sort of slur they had made for the Faunus, though Jaques always preferred them to be called animals since that's what they are.
After the Faunus slaves were loaded up on some S.D.C. trucks and driven off, Jaques fulfilled his side of the deal and had multiple Faunus slaves push carts full of dust towards the Enclave's robots, who took the carts and inspected them before moving them off.
"Once again, it is a pleasure doing business with you." Lee said and offered his hand for a handshake, which Jaques took up while speaking, "Same with you; have a nice trip back to... wherever you gents go."
"Perhaps one day we can invite you to a party, but for now we cannot risk revealing our existence. You can most likely understand where we're coming from."
"Oh, for certain, if you were found out, then it would cripple both of our businesses." Jaques said as Lee smiled before speaking, "Exactly. Good day to you, Mr. Schnee." Lee, along with the rest of the Enclave personnel, headed back to their aircraft and left.
Jaques smiled and looked over the variety of faunas If he could maximize his profits, he would start forcing the Faunus to breed so he could get better workers and not have to rely on the Enclave to supply him slaves.
But sadly, he learned that all the Faunus the enclave delivered to him were sterile. Now he knows why they did it; he wouldn't want the animals to breed too fast, but it also meant that he couldn't breed himself a workforce.
Jaques boarded one of the company's private jets, and as the aircraft lifted off from the airstrip to head back to the Schnee manor, Jaques suddenly received a call from no one else but General Ironwoord.
He answered the call and was surprised that the good general was asking him if he could supply the Atlas military with more dust. Jaques, of course, accepted, but was told that the military would give him equipment in return.
Jaques wanted to build a private security force to both kidnap and silence Faunus so he could learn about his and the Enclave's business. General Ironwood sighed and accepted the deal before hanging up.
Jaques laid back in his seat and smiled at the fact that the S.D.C. would grow even more influential, though he knew not to get too confident since if he pushes his luck too far, not only does he risk revealing him and the Enclave's business, but it would also bring on the Enclave's wrath.
And he didn't want to do that...
"Echo-1, I have eyes on the settlement." An Enclave soldier clad in Hermes S.F. armor was sitting on a nearby hill as he looked upon what might be the Enclave's biggest target.
"Copy Echo-3, Echo-2, and 4, move in, and plant the device at the front gate. Echo-5, your with me. We've got a bet to settle with the Delta Team." Echo-1 said over their communications channel, and Echo-3 spoke as he looked down the scope of his M-72 Gauss Rifle.
"Orders, Echo-1?" Echo-3 asked, and Echo-1 responded, "If you gain sight of the target, take the shot." Echo-3 spoke as he got into a prone position and surveyed the settlement while a picture of the target appeared on his HUD.
Too normal men, the Mutie would look big, but Echo Team were not normal; no one in the Enclave was normal when compared to the humans and muties on this world. Echo-3 saw on his mini-map Echo-2 and 4 moving past him.
He looked and saw the shimmering forms of his squad mates pass by him, with one of them carrying a large device. They eventually arrived at the settlement's gate before running off. If this worked, then it would make Echo's job a lot easier.
See, the settlement they were raiding was called 'Kuo Kuana,' the largest mutant settlement in the world and the de facto capital of the mutant island, Menagerie.
It was the Enclave's favorite spot to kidnap mutants from, with large, bountiful amounts of mutants that were also of good stock, making them good slaves along with being able to breed additional slaves if they ever needed any more of them.
Said slaves would be used to build up settlements along with being shields to attract the world's native beasts due to their being attracted to negative emotions, and slaves would have a lot of negative emotions.
High Command put in a request to the Science Division to look into making a happy drug to help combat the wild's natural sense of negative emotions. The Science Division agreed and started research on the idea, though it was low on their list.
The device that Echo-2 and 4 delivered to the gate eventually exploded, destroying the gate and a good chunk of the wooden wall around said gate. This eventually led to the mutant's defense force flooding out to see what was wrong.
Once the defense force was drawn out, Echo-1 and 5 opened fire, suppressing 12.7mm SMGs ripping through the guards except for one, who was staggered by the rounds but survived. Echo-1 spoke, "Echo-3, we've got an aura user."
"Copy Echo-1." Echo-3 switched and fired a shot, blowing the guard in half. "Good shooting, Echo-3. Eagle-1 and Dream-1, 2, 3, and 4, you two are up." Soon after Echo-1 spoke up, an XVB-02 gunship came swooping in to lay covering fire.
While the gunship fired upon any armed resistance, 4 XVB-02 transports came in; now they carried barely any soldiers, but that left a lot of space for mutant slaves, whether the slaves were for labor or experimentation.
The vertibirds landed and outstepped Enclave MPs equipped with their modified version of Secret Service armor. They started rounding up as many mutants as they could while killing any that resisted.
Then Echo-3 saw his target, and he quickly scoped in, and when he saw the mutant, he tried to save what Echo-3 could only guess was his lover. He pulled the trigger, and down went the mutants, blowing a massive hole through their chests.
"Target down." Echo-3 said over comms, and Echo-1 spoke, "Good work, and Echo-4, you owe Echo-3 a drink." Echo-3 heard Echo-4 audibly groan over comms, "Wolf-1, we've got to leave the harbor; sink it."
Echo-3 looked and saw a decent-sized boat explode. The Enclave made sure that no mutants escaped the island or anyone entered the island; this mostly meant having wolfpacks and air patrols deployed around the island.
This let the Enclave harvest as many mutants as they wanted without any consequences. Echo-3 then looked up to the sky and saw an XVB-02 transport coming in for a landing, bearing the mark of enclave intelligence.
"Echo-1, we've got a vertibird bearing the mark of intelligence coming." Echo-3 said, and Echo-1 spoke, "Copy Echo-3; I see it." The vertibird landed amongst the village, and Echo-3 scoped in to see it unload a squad of Enclave PA units along with an Enclave agent, clad in combat Strigade gear.
After the other transport vertibirds took off, Echo-1 called for the rest of the team to regroup around the vertibird to see what's going on. Echo-3 stood up and made his way down to the settlement, many mutants staring at him as he walked.
They all eventually stood in front of the agent, and Echo-1 spoke as the agent walked forward, "We were not told intelligence would come." The agent spoke while handing Echo-1 a piece of paper: "That is due to me having to give you boys new orders. Menagerie's population is decreasing too fast."
"So abandon the settlement as our number-one raiding spot?" Echo-1 said, and the agent shook his head before speaking, "No, your new orders are to purge all surviving mutants here. We've got enough mutants to simply breed them, and with the ones you captured, they should be of good stock."
"Yes sir." Echo-1 said, and alongside the PA units, the team scoured the settlement, hunting the mutants down like the animals they were. With Echo-4 even taking some horns as trophies, Echo-3 didn't find anything that captured his eye.
Once the job was done and the screaming stopped, the Echo team looked upon a pile of mutant bodies. The PA team brought up a flamer and torched the pile, so nothing remained.
Anyone that came to Menagerie now would only find ashes...
Ruby snuck through the dark halls of Beacon as she headed for the club she had recently joined. It was the club that claimed it would teach her how to be not only a better huntress but a better person, which sounded great.
Though the club's main hangout wasn't in Beacon due to not having enough room, which was apparently a pretty common thing to happen, Professor Ozpin had bought a large plot of land that wasn't being used, and that was where most clubs were.
Ruby eventually got to the bullhead station, and after paying the fee, the autopilot set a course for Beacon's Club Reservation. After 20 minutes, the bullhead landed, and Ruby walked around the reservation, trying to find her club's building.
The club was called 'The Order of New Huntsmen and Huntresses.' It was a decently sized club that accepted almost everyone, except Faunus. Now, that wasn't because the club was racist, but due to some kind of law that had Ozpin segregate the reservation.
Ruby got to her club's building and knocked on the front door. A robotic eye popped out, surprising her as an automated voice spoke, "Identification, now." Ruby quickly reached into her pockets and pulled out her ID along with the arm band the club gave her.
The arm band was a red cross with swords meeting in the middle. Ruby didn't really know what it meant, but maybe the club leaders would explain it.
"Welcome, Ruby Rose."
The door opened, and Ruby entered to find a house that seemed more advanced than anything she's seen. She didn't know the clubs could decorate the interior of their houses, though it was strangely quiet.
When Ruby entered the living room, she saw a uniform laying on the table, and when she investigated it, it had a note saying, 'Welcome Ruby Rose to The Order of New Huntsmen and Huntresses; here is your new uniform, and the entrance is next to the bathroom.'
Ruby took the uniform but was confused when it said, 'The entrance is next to the bathroom.' The front door wasn't next to a bathroom. Ruby changed quickly before finding what seemed to be a secret door.
"Huh?" Ruby messed around with it until it opened and found a ladder. "Oh, that's a long ladder." Ruby said after gulping. She started to climb down it, and while climbing down it, she wondered what Yang would think.
Ruby did go behind her back and join a club without her consent, but she also knew that Yang wanted her to make new friends, and while she did (outside of Weiss due to not really knowing where she stood.),
After climbing down possibly the longest ladder in existence, she enters a room, sees an elevator, and sighs out loud before looking forward to see a massive door that resembles a gear.
She approached it, and after finding a control panel, she found a lever and pulled it as an automated house speaker's "Welcome Newcomers to Vault 17."
When the door opened, Ruby didn't know what to expect.
