The glowing sunset reminded Ladybug of a creamsicle on a hot summer day. And speaking of treats, she had one for Cat Noir.
"Cat, I got you something," she said, handing him a black rose. Cat's face blushed like the setting sun. "No way! You got me a rose?!" Ladybug shuffled her feet back and forth as Cat examined his flower like it was some new species. "Of course, I love it. I guess I just didn't expect it."
Then Cat's face changed from ecstatic to suspicious. "Wait," he cocked his head and closed one eye while staring at his flower, "don't black roses mean death?"
Only when you climb into my fabric basket and fall asleep, then hiss at me when I try to move you...Ladybug thought. "Yes," she agreed, "but they can also mean changes and new beginnings. And…" Warmth flooded her cheeks and now she was slightly red, "I have a feeling things are about to change."
She placed one hand on his cheek, then the other as she stepped closer and Cat wore a look of surprise.
Ladybug's smile was soft as she raised herself on the balls of her feet, leaned over and kissed Cat on the cheek, a little puff of air hitting her cheek as he gasped.
Cat stood frozen like a statue as Ladybug giggled. "And besides, it goes with your costume. Bug out!" Ladybug dashed away before she could start babbling or tripping over her tongue.
"Hey," Cat panted, clutching his rose as he dashed off after her, "You can't just leave after saying that!"
Then he skidded to a stop. "Oh, wait. I did."
