Consequences
Sera's POV
After listening to the elder's squabbling and ranting for what felt like hours, I made my way to Lute's quarters, alone. Emily was insisting she come with me, but I told her to hold back and show Sir Pentious around. Besides, I knew the real reason as to why she wanted to tag along. I was about to hear even more screaming from Lute, and while Emily enjoys herself at the sight that's about to be on display, I will not. Without knocking, I walked into her room.
Lute leaped out from her chair, that was facing the door. She had been waiting. Her fists were bawled up, teeth gritted, and eyes hardened but still ready for whatever.
"Sera! When will I be allowed back to Hell? We must make them pay for what happened to Adam!" She screeched. I rubbed the temples of my head.
"Lute. I've heard enough screaming for today. Sit back down, and just listen. Now." I spoke sharply. Gulping, she reluctantly sat back down, her scowl still on her face, lips pursed.
"You will not be returning back to Hell anytime soon; you are officially suspended until-"
"BULLSHIT! COMPLETE BULLSHIT! THEY KILLED ADAM!"
"YOU, ALONG WITH ADAM'S OWN HUBRIS IS WHY HE IS DEAD!" I snapped.
"Not only did you breach the deal Heaven made with Lucifer regarding the safety of his daughter, but it is also now known that we are susceptible to angelic weapons to every demon and that is very BAD Lute." I sneered as she flinched.
"What is stopping him or any rogue demon to try to take over Heaven now that they KNOW? Come girl, tell me quickly." It was argued demons would simply defend themselves come the next extermination, but it we had to be serious. There very well could be one demon wild enough to not only try to usurp Lucifer, and once accosting his place, try to rule both Heaven and Hell...and with that, everything would be out of balance and would mark the 'End of Earth'. Not to mention we were sure the news made it to the Other Six rings of Hell.
That is a lot of demons at once to fight. But Lute didn't seem to care about any of that.
"We had a very hard time deciding what to do with you, you're lucky you weren't voted out to FALL. Adam's cause of death was his own Pride, he tried to kill his daughter despite knowing he was forbidden to! Had he survived, he would've fallen, and you would've went with him."
Lute's eyes began to water, not out of repentance, but of anguish. I could see it.
"We did what we thought was right." her voice held defeat.
"Well, you were wrong." I stated plainly.
Finally, people have stopped screaming and were talking normally. I currently had the worse headache no human could handle.
"...How long is my suspension?" Lute asked as she slumped back in her chair, finally relaxing as she eased in the state of acceptance.
"Three exterminations. You have three years to work on your temper and realign with Heaven's rules. Hopefully nothing dire will happen between then and now...I'm praying for it."
She just looked even sadder, and I sighed at my softened heart.
"You're still upset about Adam? Lute...I am sorry. But you must know these are just...the consequences of the actions you make." I placed my hand on her shoulder, she then broke down into sobs.
I knew it wasn't over the suspension, a rubbed her back a little before standing up, leaving her alone. Once her tears ceased, she called for me.
"Wait, wait. I'm...I'm...okay. I'm okay. I'm ready to talk about business. Since I'm on suspension, what will happen during these exterminations?"
I then explained to her about our plan. For now, we must round up any and every scrap of Angelic weapons we can find before the next extermination and that we'll be sending an angel down there to do so.
"So... someone's taking my place for now..." Lute looked out the window then back at me.
"Who?"
"We're giving the mission to Felina."
Lute's POV
"Oh, the cocky rooky." I placed my hand under my chin. Felina was a newly made angel that made waves for the last few exterminations. Since Adam and I went under the radar the second time we went, of course she wasn't there for it. I didn't care too much for her and she would've been telling me I was breaking the rules too anyway. Fuck her.
And you know what else? Fuck Charlie and her twink father. I actually do hope someone tries to kill him, maybe a more respectable demon would be worth my time to fight. Or better yet, I could say fuck the rules too and get my revenge anyway. Blood for blood. A soul, for a soul. That bimbo bitch and her stupid hotel won't see the last of me, and if I also get to knock Felina out along the way. Fine.
I'll play, for now. But this is a game where I'm playing for keeps. Her and her slut Vaggie, and that little stick bitch that killed Adam. That one eyed whore will be the FIRST to die.
I'll allow those stains think they've won. Sera eventually left me sulking in my room. I stood and walked over to my bed, it's...so small now. Reaching into my cherry wood drawer, I found myself staring at our photos together.
Adam was so misunderstood, no one but I knew the real him. They don't know the mess Lucifer left behind when he-
"He's gone, Lute. Hehehe. Poor baby," I recognized the svelte voice and rolled my eyes.
"What do you want?" Speaking of leaving messes behind...
"I've come to have a small chat after word got around there's a new girl in charge, only to find you pining over subpar cock."
"...Lilith, get to the point." I finally looked over at her. Big foot stood at the doorway smiling at me. He wasn't subpar. Nothing about him was subpar to me.
"The point is, you better watch your tone with me once and for all before I disregard my own deal to be up here and teach you respect, wench."
When I didn't respond, she chuckled. "I've watched that Felina girl for a while...I marvel her, she's quite the seer, and an even more impressive fighter. Far more charming than you as well." she giggled, "She'd make an interesting rival for the right bored person." She walked to my window and opening it, the breeze going through her blond hair. She prattled on about shit I didn't care about.
"Real women enjoy challenges...and I want to see how well she fairs down there. I'm going back down to uphold my end of the deal, that's what you so rudely requested of me, correct?"
"Things are more complicated now; I don't think just stopping her-"
"I'm aware of the damage done due to your foolishness and that's also a reason I'm going back down with a little more urgency. I have to give it to you, Lute. Your screw up is more hilarious than me once loving Adam."
"And the toe stub is any better?" I spat.
"Oh yes, oh yes he is. Want to taste him next when this is all over? I don't mind watching." she shot back.
"Fuck you." I stood up, gazing up at her. She grabbed by chin and yanked my head back, making me look more directly at her. She got close to my face and laughed.
"Get in line." and she flung me across the room, making me break my vanity set. I winced as shard of glass stuck pricked my back. Before I could even react, she slammed her foot over my neck, making me gag. I began to claw at her leg, as I couldn't tell her to get off.
"Listen, pissant. Know your place. I was allowing you to talk with a lot of disrespect up until this point. You may run the angles, but you'll still be that bottom bitch that can't ever top me."
"Your incompetence doesn't allow you to judge me. You know how I feel about lessors trying to judge me..."
She raised her leg and with a flash, she was gone before I could see her full demon form, all I saw were her horns in my blurry vision. I stood up coughing.
It was then and there I decided that I will kill all the Morningstars.
