Author's Note: I'm sure this has been done before, but as I recently re-watched Spirited Away, I just wanted to take my own stab at reconciling Chihiro's last line in the dub with the fact that she doesn't remember in the original. And I've never done a 100-word drabble before, so I also took the chance to challenge myself.
I'll Be Fine
"I think I'll be fine," Chihiro announced.
"That's not what you said earlier," her mother replied in amusement.
"Well, I will be."
She wasn't sure how she knew, but she knew. As they pulled away from the tunnel, she couldn't help feeling like something had happened there.
The changes were subtle but noticeable. Chihiro was more confident, did her homework and cleaned her room without needing reminders, and helped around the house more often. And she was always drawn to water; it was comforting somehow.
Chihiro would remember someday. For now, she was content thinking that detours weren't so bad.
