Goodwitch: "3. 2. 1. Fight!"

Hedge activates his shoes and skates over towards Team RWBY with Anne and Leonidas following behind. Zion keeps range and starts to fire Light and Shadow towards the girls. Ruby blocks Zion's shots while twirling Crescent Rose, but gets rushed down by Hedge and knocked away from her team. Yang rushes past Anne and Leonidas towards Zion. Anne swings Piko toward Weiss, which she uses a glyph to jump away from the hammer's strike. Leonidas runs up to slash Omega at Blake, but she uses her semblance to dodge the slash.

Zion continues to blast shots at Yang, even yelling, "What's the matter Yang? Think I can't fend for myself up close?" Yang just uses her gauntlets to block the bullets, however she notices that they are getting frozen from Light's bullets. She is up in front of Zion as he smiles. Yang looks at Zion's pistols, however they aren't pistols anymore; they're swords now. Thanks to Hard Light dust, he's able to switch their forms. He takes a slash at Yang and she smashes Ember Celica together to break off the ice around them. She returns with a barrage of strikes towards Zion but, thanks to his semblance, he's able to perfect block each of them with his swords.

Yang: "Excellent form, Zion, but it will take more than just defense to beat me." Yang throws in a few kicks at Zion along with her strikes, which ends up throwing him a bit off balance. Yang notices Zion getting frustrated at her keeping up the offense, but doesn't notice that Zion morphed one of his swords back to pistol form. He had swapped Light back to shoot two ice bolts at her legs to keep her in place, then double morphed both to their opposite forms to shoot Shadow's gravity bolts to cartwheel over Yang and slash at her a few times with Light in sword form. Once he lands, his back is to Yang and he points Shadow behind him to blast Yang away with a gravity shot. Zion takes a few heavy breaths after that, and looks up above him to look at the aura bars. He sees his is at 50%, but is unable to get a good look at Yang's as her semblance kicks in.

Yang bomb-rushes Zion and hits him with a strong left into his gut, and then a hard right to the face, which knocks him into the side of the arena, bringing him underneath the 15% aura threshold. Team JNPR and Sun and Neptune see this and run over to see if Zion is still ok, even after taking a hard hit. Goodwitch noticed this and deactivates part of the barrier that protects spectators, and Sun uses his semblance to make a clone of himself to pull Zion out of the arena, and they get a good look at Yang's aura level. Despite tanking a few shots and slashes from Zion, Yang still has 65% of her aura left.

Sun: "You alright, man?"

Zion: "I'll live. Sorry guys, couldn't stay in the battle to the end."

On another side of the arena, Anne, while at 35% aura is continuing to get close on Weiss to strike her with Piko, while also shooting off rockets at her. Weiss, while at 40% aura, on the other hand is using her glyphs to shoot off ice crystals, fire blasts, and lightning strikes at her, all while staying mobile to keep her away. Anne uses her semblance to get right on top of Weiss ready to strike and Weiss uses a gravity glyph to move slightly to Anne's left.

Weiss: "Wide open, Anne." She winds her rapier back to strike, however Anne anticipates this, as she had went to strike her with a normal swing of her free hand.

Anne: "Am I, or are you?!" She then places that hand on her hammer's handle to do an 180 swing clockwise (she's right-handed, so she swung in a left-handed motion) to land a direct blow on Weiss. She is able to hinder the full force of the hit with blocking with her rapier, but the resulting hit into the side of the arena is what does her in and brings her below the 15% aura threshold. Neptune and Nora run over above her from the stands and reach out to help her out of the arena.

Leonidas continues his fight with Blake, even utilizing his wings to get an aerial advantage on her. Blake switches Gambol Shroud into it's pistol form and takes shots at Leonidas, but he's able to weave around them and block them with Omega. He activates his semblance to gain ranged sword slashes. This causes Blake to have to use her semblance to dodge out of the way of some and has to tank some of the slashes too. Blake's aura is at 45%, while Leonidas is at 55%. Leonidas catches Blake off balance and dives at her with Omega ready to slash her down, but Yang runs in to knock Leonidas away.

Blake: "Thanks Yang. I owe you one."

Yang: "We can talk about that another time. Right now, we need to show them how much potential we have as first years."

Blake: "Right."

Leonidas gets up and shakes his head to see that Yang and Blake are side by side, but notices that Anne is next to him as well, Piko in hand.

Anne: "Come on Leo. Can't let two girls beat you up." He chuckles at her.

Leonidas: "Well, I was doing fine before Yang showed up." He notices Zion and Weiss in the stands. "Guess Zion couldn't keep her at bay; good job at beating the heiress."

Anne: "My little victory won't matter unless we can beat them, even if this is a sparring match. Let's go."

Anne and Leo run in to continue the fight with Blake and Yang, now with Leo fighting Yang from afar and Anne getting up close with Blake. As for the leaders, Hedge and Ruby are going blow for blow with their strikes and tactics. Ruby's semblance of speed is keeping up with Hedge's teleportation tactics, though with every usage of their semblances, their aura is depleted, Hedge's at a slower rate thanks to his bands. Hedge's aura is at 40%, while Ruby's is at 35%. They clash their weapons together into a struggle, trying to break the other's stance, but they instead jump back from each other, taking heavy breaths.

Hedge: "Not half bad Ruby, for a first year. I can only imagine how you'd be when you graduate," Hedge says while in between breaths.

Ruby: "You can keep trying to make me lower my guard by stating your praises," she readies Crescent Rose again, "but that won't work on me." Hedge smiles and readies Chaos and places Destruction into its holster, activating his semblance to electrify them. He then vanishes from Ruby's sight. She looks around her, trying to be ready for his next attack. The sound of Hedge reappearing is heard.

But it isn't next to Ruby.

Hedge had been keeping an eye on every fight that was happening around the arena, and noticed how difficult Yang could be with her semblance, having gained the knowledge of how it worked from Ruby.

Yang: "Stop being far away and get…huh?" Before she could finish her sentence to Leo, Hedge had appeared next to Yang, using his left hand to electrify Yang then grab onto Destruction, still electrified, and slashes her with both swords, bringing her below the 15% aura threshold. This distracts Blake long enough for Anne to land a direct blow on her and knocks her out of the match too. Ruby notices that all happen in just a matter of a few minutes and now has to fight all 3 of them alone.

Ruby: "Eep. Uh…Professor Ozpin? Professor Goodwitch? I…I forfeit."

Ozpin: "Very well. Team HAZL is victorious." Hedge deactivates his semblance and the lightning effects around him dissipate. Leonidas deactivates his and Omega stops glowing.

Everyone in the stands are stunned at what just happened from Hedge's abilities, while Nora hands over 20 lien to Sun. Zion and Weiss jump back down into the arena and join their teams, helping Blake and Yang up as well.

Professor Ozpin speaks to all of them. "I will say that was an impressive match. Team HAZL, I can see where each of you excel individually, but I also noticed where there can be improvements as a team as well. I think there's a mission available that might be able to help you all better that. I'll send over the details to your scrolls later. It starts tomorrow." They all look at each other and then back at Ozpin, nodding at him. "And for Team RWBY, the same also applies to you, minus the mission. You 4 have potential to be great huntresses. Continue to build team strategies and have each other's backs." All 8 of them turn to each other and shake hands.

Later that night

Team HAZL is preparing for bed, while also reviewing their scrolls for the mission details that Ozpin sent them.

"So, Hedge. What do think of this mission," Leo asks.

Hedge: "Not sure what to make of it. You heard Ozpin. This is supposed to help us work as a team in fights, not just use our own skills to win overall."

Anne speaks up next. "This mission takes us just outside the kingdom and could take us a few days, or even a few weeks. There will probably be a ton of Grimm."

"Not like we haven't dealt with a bunch of those back in Vacuo," Zion chips in. "We should be fine. If Ozpin wants us to work as a team, so be it." He looks at Leonidas. "You and I should partner up for this mission Leo. I'm sure we can make great combo attacks."

Leonidas: "Only if you promise to not speak so much, Zion."

Anne looks over to Hedge. "Guess that means we should partner up and work on moves too."

Hedge: "Hmm, we'll discuss more in the morning. Good night everyone. We're up bright and early tomorrow."

Everyone: "Right." They all head off to bed.

Ozpin is at his desk in his office, typing on his tablet to someone. "They'll be in the area tomorrow morning. Watch them for a few days before truly testing them."

The person replies, "It shall be done. It'll be good to have a rematch with Hedge."
