a/n Alright people You all seem to need a timeline here. This story takes place a few days after Bella gets ungrounded.

This is a fanfiction. Anything that happened before this time in the Book is perfectly valid. The only things that are valid after this point are the scenes that I take inspiration from.

As for a comment I saw that claims that this is not the real Edward and Bella, I have to tell you that Bella and Edward are not real people. Jacob is also not a real person. They are fictional characters. If you can't tell the difference you should not be reading fiction. Any kind of fiction.

The Quileute people however are very real. Their teens do not turn into wolves. The only shape shifting story I know the Quileute's have is when Qwati turns the wolves into the Quileute people.

As for the wolves being out of control monsters, I will not be doing that. Paul was an extremely volatile human being before the wolf. He is painted as a bully that can't control his temper, again this is before he phased. The rest of the wolves will be keeping their pre-phased personalities. As for Sam. I believe his story is the most messed up.

Cliff notes of Sam's story. Boy meets girl. Boy becomes obsessed with girl. He begs her to be with him; she refuses and tells him to leave her alone. He stalks and harasses the girl. The girl confronts him. He hurts the girl leaving her scarred and fighting for her life. Only after being hurt, almost killed, by the boy and unable to get away from him does the girl fall in love with the boy.

In my personal opinion, Leah dodged a bullet. Does anyone else see a common occurrence in the relation between love and abuse being betrayed in these stories. a/n

Chapter 17

"Charlie." Billy started after him, sounding as if he was about to chastise him.

Charlie whirled on his friend. "You lied to me!" His voice thundered out of him.

"I told you. I couldn't tell you about the Cullens." Frustration, clear in Billy's tone.

"Not about the Cullens," Charlie corrected. "about the wolves!"

"I didn't-" Billy started but Charlie didn't let him finish.

"Yes, you did." Charlie spat. "You said they weren't dangerous. Yet My daughter was almost attacked by one of them, and then there's what happened to Emily Young."

Billy's eyes widened.

"That's right, I know about that." Charlie sneered.

"Charlie, you don't understand." Billy's voice faltered. "What happened to Emily was an accident."

"She was attacked!"

"No! She wasn't." Billy sighed a deep breath. "Sam was too close to her when he phased. It was an accident."

"HA!" Charlie let out a humorless laugh. "And what's Paul's excuse for going after Bella?"

"Paul's…" Billy shook his head, his voice trailing off.

"That boy needs to be reined in. Your alpha isn't doing his job."

"They're doing the best they can."

"It's not good enough." Charlie demanded.

Just then Sam came running in the house. "There's something wrong. Paul's not healing right."

"What do you mean? Is his skin not knitting back together?" Billy asked.

"No, the wound looks perfectly healed but he is still in a lot of pain."

"The bullet is probably still pressed into his kneecap." Charlie spoke as if he didn't care that the boy was in pain. Waving his hand in a dismissive gesture he said, "We'll deal with that later, right now we have some things to discuss."

"He's in pain!" Sam insisted.

"Good." Charlie shot back. "Maybe it will give him something to think about the next time he goes to act out."

Sam looked back to his pack mate, his muscles tensed to stop him from running back to try to help him. Sam's heaving breaths and shaking form proved he didn't have as much control as he let on.

"Sam." Billy cautioned.

"I'm fine." He said through gritted teeth.

"Great, then have a seat." Charlie insisted.

Sitting down heavily in the chair, Sam ordered. "Speak."

Charlie tilted his head. "Should I Bark?" Sam Scowled at him. "Let's get this straight right now. I am not one of those kids that you give "Alpha orders" to. When you speak to me it will be with the respect of an equal. If you don't respect me, then I won't respect you. Got it?"

Sam's jaw tensed, he looked straight ahead not meeting Charlie's eyes. Through clenched teeth he said, "Got it."

Charlie stood behind the chair across from Sam with his arms crossed over his chest. "Now, tell me exactly how this alpha ordering thing works."

"I give them an order. They follow it."

"Has anyone ever ignored your orders and just did what they wanted?"

"There is only one of them that somehow got around my orders." Sam's eyes drifted toward Jacob, who was standing against the wall with a nervous looking Bella tucked into his side.

Charlie tried to hide his flinch, looking at his daughter he said, "Maybe you should go sit in the living room."

"Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of me being here?"

"Then maybe you should give Jake a little breathing room. Ten to twelve feet should be good." Glancing between them he added, "Maybe a few more."

Bella rolled her eyes. "Dad, Jakes not going to hurt me." for good measure she said, "You're starting to sound like Edward."

Charlie's eyes bugged out of his head. "God forbid." He mumbled as he turned back to Sam. "What do you mean he somehow got around it? Why not just say he ignored it?"

"It's not possible to ignore an alpha order."

"So you're telling me if you order someone not to phase, they can't."

"Yes."

"Great, I want you to order Paul not to phase."

"Why the hell would I do that?"

"Because he is out of control."

"He's not the one going around shooting people."

"I have aim, and the fact that you all have some kind of magical healing power on my side. He loses his temper and he will tear apart anyone who steps too close."

Sam Cringed. "He can't just stop phasing. We need him out there."

"Then put in stipulations." Charlie insisted. "I don't want anyone to catch him at the wrong time, and have him phase too close to them."

Sam squeezed his eyes shut as a tear dripped down his cheek. He turned his face away from Charlie and nodded once in agreement.

"Good, now what is this I hear about Paul thwarting the capture of this Victoria vamp."

"The Cullens broke the treaty by stepping on to our land."

"Are you kidding me right now?" Charlie asked incredulously, "Instead of going after the bigger threat and ending that problem, you attacked someone who was not there to harm you, because he stepped on your land?"

"The Cullens are just as much of a threat." Sam insisted.

Charlie shook his head. "Somehow I doubt that, especially at that moment."

"Can we go help Paul now?" Sam asked in frustration.

"No." Charlie said, "Would you be willing to work with the Cullens?" There were sounds of protest from outside. The sneer on Sam's face didn't bode well. "At least meet with them to discuss some strategies. You know the saying, "The enemy of my enemy" and all that."

"If I say yes, can I go help Paul?"

"Sure."

"Then fine." Sam growled out as he leapt off the chair and ran out the door.

"Alright, Let's go back to the Cullens. Or should we meet in a neutral spot?" Charlie asked Jacob.

"A neutral spot would probably be best."

"Bells call the Cullens, find out where we should meet," Charlie told her.

Bella picked up the landline and dialed the Cullens. After relaying everything to Carlisle he asked her to hand Jacob the phone. "Guess I'm not that needed after all." She muttered, passing him the phone.

"You're very needed." he assured her. She rolled her eyes. "What?... Yeah, I know the place… See you in twenty minutes." He hung up the phone. Charlie you're going to have to borrow Quils four wheeler.

They went outside to find Sam with a bloody knife in his hand and Paul flailing around yelling and cursing.

"I can't do this," Sam complained. "You're going to need medical attention."

"Then it is a good thing we are going to see a doctor." Charlie yelled over at them.

"Fuck, no! There is no fuckin way I'm letting that filthy fucking leach touch me.!" Paul screamed.

Charlie shrugged, "Fine, leave it in there. I'm sure you will get used to the pain someday."
