Salvatore Boarding House.
She stared at the sickly form of Damon Salvatore with a sort of morbid fascination. The vampire was in the final moments of life (or rather unlife as it were) due to having been bitten by a werewolf, its venom making its way through his system.
Those who knew her would expect the girl known as Elena Gilbert to worry for her boyfriend's brother, to fear for his life and be praying for a miracle of some sort that would save him. They would expect her to pity him.
Instead, all she felt was boredom and impatience. 'If I had known that this would be such a drawn out affair, I would have brought a book of some sort.' She thought to herself as she was sitting on the bed, tapping her foot on the floor in her boredom. She rolled her eyes as he spoke quietly through his illness, barely listening to his words of apology.
'Just wait until they've all learned just what else was awoken that night.' She giggled a little at the thought.
When Damon turned to look at her, Elena quickly suppressed her smirk and disguised her boredom behind a mask of worry and compassion. "I… truly… do love… you, Elena." He told her through his labored breathing. "Which… is why… I hope… that you… and S-Stefan will be… happy together." He said, as though giving his blessing for his brother to be with the woman they both loved. Even though they had been together for months without his 'permission'. Even as he lay dying, the arrogance and ego of Damon Salvatore knew no bounds.
Elena gave him a look of mock gratitude, the falseness of it lost on the dying vampire. "Thank you, Damon." She said sarcastically. As if she needed his permission to do shit!
Suddenly a very familiar voice spoke up from the doorway. "You know, it's really me you should be thanking." The occupants of the room both looked at the entrance to see a double of Elena standing there, holding a bottle of a red liquid. "I mean, I did bring the cure." Katherine Pierce aka Katerina Petrova, sire to both the Salvatore brothers said.
As she walked past her doppelganger, Katherine couldn't help but feel puzzled by the girl's lack of worry for Damon or Stefan, or the fear she'd once showed for her. "I thought you were dead." She commented, not voicing her thoughts.
Elena just shrugged with a smirk on their shared face that only the other woman saw. "I got better." She said as Katherine walked over to Damon's bedside and knelt beside him, not even paying attention to the cure in her doppelganger's hand, which only served to worry the 'elder' Petrova more.
She brought the jar containing Klaus' blood to the weak Damon. "You got free." He noted the obvious, oblivious to the unspoken exchange between the two identical women.
"Yep. Finally." She responded as he drank the blood. Elena watched with curiosity, which continued to worry Katherine. A familiar feeling itched at the back of her mind, but she dismissed it out of both fear and hope that she was wrong.
Clearly the cure was not immediate as the elder Salvatore was still weak as he spoke. "And still you came here?" he asked almost hopefully, the feelings for her, that he'd thought buried coming through.
Putting aside her own worry, Katherine answered simply and quickly. "I owed you one."
Then, almost as though it was expected of her, Elena asked "Where's Stefan?" Still there was no sign of worry in her voice.
Hoping to encourage such a feeling, Katherine said simply "He's paying for this." She revealed, getting a mere "Ah!" in response. If she didn't know any better, Katherine would think Elena had somehow managed to turn her humanity off.
Finally she turned back to her double, to see a clearly fake look of innocence on her face. Swallowing nervously, she held up the jar of Klaus' blood. "I need to go. Make sure he gets it all." She instructed, before tossing the jar to the Doppelganger and using the resulting distraction to run for the door at full Vampiric Speed.
Only to run head first into a magical barrier.
"You're not thinking of leaving without saying goodbye, are you… Kitten?" she heard from behind her. Every alarm in Katherine's head was now blaring, as she turned around.
Only one person called her 'Kitten'. Only one person was even allowed.
And it was undoubtedly the one person she feared more than Klaus. She turned to see Elena smirking at her, her brown eyes glowing Violet in confirmation. But still she had to ask.
"Heléna?" in equal parts fear yet hope.
The newly dubbed Heléna smirked wider at the mention of her true name. "Hi, Sweetie. Mommy's Back!" she said as though she was speaking to a child. Then, with speed beyond even the Originals, the woman lunged forward and pinned Katherine to the doorframe, lifting her by her throat. "And you are in big trouble, Young Lady!" she snarled, her fangs elongated.
Katherine did the only thing she could. She begged for her life. "P-Please, M-Mistress! I swear I didn't know it was you!" she begged.
But Heléna was not moved. "Whether or not you knew it was me trapped in this shell is irrelevant, Child!" she missed, tightening her grip on Katherine's throat making her whimper. "You know of my order that my Daughters are to be protected! Where exactly did you obey this?! When you were terrorizing her! When you killed her friends! Turned them! Let Jenna be a part of the Sacrifice!"
With each of her crimes against Elena spoken, Katherine winced as her Mistress tightened her grip further. Then Heléna said something that put the fear of God into the 5 centuries old Vampire. "You've disappointed me, My Dear Kitten. And you know, better than most, that I have killed many for lesser offenses."
Katherine closed her eyes, waiting for her end.
However…
"But…" Heléna released her, letting Katherine fall to the floor gasping for breath. Even as she tried to swallow oxygen, she listened as the other woman continued. "… I admit I have something of a soft spot for you. I will think of a punishment more befitting of your crimes, but know that this is your last chance, Darling. I had hoped you would've learnt after the mess you made here in 1864."
Recovering from her choking, Katherine slowly stood, her head bowed like a naughty child told off by her parents. "Yes, Mistress."
Heléna smiled. "Now, give Mommy a kiss and tell her you missed her." She ordered. Smiling like a little girl, Katherine did as asked kissing Heléna on the lips chastely. Once they'd parted, she said honestly "I did miss you, Mother."
The Elder Petrova smiled but before they could speak further, a voice could be heard speaking from behind her on the bed.
"What the Fuck?!" Damon exclaimed, having recovered to see Elena choking Katherine and then kissing her.
Having completely forgotten about the rooms other occupant, the two Petrovas turned to the Elder Salvatore in surprise.
Elena Gilbert smiled happily at the brother of her boyfriend. "Oh, Damon you're okay! I'm so sorry, we completely forgot you were here." She said cheerfully and with a hint of mischief in her voice. Katherine snorted in amusement.
But Damon proved he was actually some sort of brain in his head as he glared at her suspiciously, even as he was clearly still weak from the Venom. "What the hell is going on?! Where is Elena and who the hell are you?!" he demanded a threatening glare, promising her pain if she gave an answer he didn't like.
But she was utterly unintimidated. She merely smiled at him. "Clever boy." Heléna said in a mocking voice, as though she was complimenting a child for having learnt how to count. She walked up to his bedside and pinned him down with ease when he tried to get up. "In answer to your question, Damon, I am Elena, but also, I am not. The girl you knew was nothing but a prison created with the sole purpose of holding me."
Damon looked both disbelieving and also scared. "Then who the hell are you?" He demanded. 'And how do I get Elena back?' he wondered to himself.
Heléna giggled and Damon got a horrible feeling that she could read his thoughts. "Well, to answer your unasked question first, you can't . I was imprisoned by the Witches of Bennett Line, who used truly foul Black Magic to imprison me in the form of a human infant – namely the recently still born Petrova Doppelganger, whose blood they used for the spell - in the hopes that when Klaus came for the Doppelganger to Break his Curse, he'd kill me when no one else had been able to for years." She revealed, with a snarl at the mention of the Bennett Witches.
Calming from her sudden feeling of rage, she smirked at him. "You know, I really have a lot to thank for my freedom. You gave me everything I needed to break free." She told him, with an almost grateful smile. She then listed off on her fingers. "Let's see, we have the Elixir from Elijah which contained My Own Blood and Magic (you known, since I am the one who made it in the first place.), Vampire Blood – thanks for that by the way – and Bennett Witch Magic – from when dear Bonnie traded John's life for mine. And with those combined, I was freed to get my revenge." She declared, with her eyes promising vengeance.
Suddenly having a thought, Heléna snapped her fingers in realization. "Oh, before I forget!" And suddenly she was on top of his body, with her hand on his mouth as she held his head still. Looking in his eyes, she spoke preventing the relatively young vampire from looking away as he realized what was happening. "When I tell you, you will go to sleep. When you wake up at dawn tomorrow, you will not remember this conversation. Your last memory will be or Katherine giving you the cure, at which point you passed out until morning. You will not remember until I say that you can."
And with that she sat up, not bothering to get off of his body. Trying to ignore the feel of this woman sitting on top of him, Damon voiced a realization even as he felt the compulsions in his mind settle. "You're one of them. An Original." He said, as they were the only ones who could compel a Vampire.
But she just giggles. "Oh, no, Damon. I am not An Original. I was Old when they were young." She revealed with a wide smirk. "I am the Original. The Progenitor of the Petrova Doppelgangers. The First Vampire, and the Original Hybrid of Vampire and Witch."
Damon's eyes widened with fear, he turned his gaze to look at Katherine hoping she would deny this woman's words or help him. But she merely shrugged as if to say it was out of her hands.
The Woman forced him to look at her. "As for who I am. I am the Countess Heléna Marie Petrova van Dragulia. Born 492 BC. Betrayed, Murdered and Risen Again 471 BC." She introduced herself with a bow, even as she remained on top of him. Her smile turned almost evil. "But I am known by another far more infamous name."
She continued. "You see, My Boy, I have been known by many names and titles over my 2 and a half millennia of existence. I have been a Queen and a Conqueror. A Witch and an Advisor to Kings. I have been both Mother and Monster. I have built mighty empires only to burn them to the ground a century or so later."
She looked down at him in her Vampiric face. Her skin was white, her eyes were violet in color with the whites of her eyes red. "Who am I?" she asked rhetorically. She leaned in to whisper seductively. "My Dear Boy, I am the Mother Fucking Queen of Vampires. I. Am. Dracula!"
Damon's eyes widened in horror at the name, but didn't have time to properly react beyond a feeling of sheer terror before she whispered to him "Sleep." And he knew no more.
Returning to her human form, Dracula finally climbed off of Damon and turned to walk towards Katherine. "And now for you, My Dear."
Having been watching her 'Mother' introduce herself, Katherine suddenly looked terrified. She took a step back, even though she knew it was useless. "M-Mistress?"
Dracula placed a solitary finger on her Doubles lips, and smiled in an almost motherly and calming fashion to her. "Worry not, My Little Kitten. I have merely decided on your suitable punishment. You see, it has occurred to me that I have been away for some time. Therefore I need to make it known that I am Returned." Her smirk became mischievous as she continued. "But to do that, I need people to not know that I have left Mystic Falls until I allow it."
Katherine's eyes widened in utter horror as she realized what her 'Mother' had in mind for her. She shook her head desperately. "No please, Mistress. Anything but that." She begged.
Heléna smirked with pure amusement. "Oh, but I thought you enjoyed masquerading as Elena Gilbert. Now you merely have my permission, Sweetheart." She said almost sweetly batting her eyelashes 'innocently', if not for the fact that the grin was similar to that of the Cheshire Cat.
Katherine actually stomped her foot like a spoiled child as she whined. "But she's so boring!" but despite her pleading, she knew she had no say in this.
But Dracula merely shrugged unconcerned. "Hence, punishment." And with that, she waved her hand over them both, magically swapping around their clothes and hair styles, even their make up.
As Katherine pouted at practically drowning in the sheer dullness of Elena Gilbert's sense of 'style', Heléna grinned as she wiggled her hips in her skin tight jeans. "Mmm, I must say it's quite a change to be going around without underwear on. I see why you like it so, Darling." She said cheerfully, snickering at Katherine's pout.
Taking hold of the other girl's chin, she pulled her into a very non-motherly kiss. When they parted, Helena still held onto Katherine's chin. Looking into her eyes, she said seriously "Do not disappoint me again, Dear One." She warned.
Fearfully, Katherine nodded.
Before leaving, Helena placed a Glamour on the Young Doppelganger's necklace, making it so that no one would think she was anything other than a human Doppelganger.
And with one last peck, Heléna Petrova, Countess Dracula herself vanished leaving Katherine in the room with a still sleeping Damon Salvatore.
There was only one thing she could think to say in response.
"Well, Fuck Me!"
Bennett Home.
Bonnie Bennett always hated Lightning. Her Grams said that a sudden storm of Lightning was typically an omen. And as the storm raged, she couldn't sleep, so she made her way down stairs. She tried to turn the lights on but they didn't work, leaving her in darkness except for the flashes of lightning outside.
As she passed through the Living Room heading for the kitchen to make herself some Hot Chocolate to help her sleep, the television suddenly turned itself on and was showing a clip of the Disney Movie, Pinocchio for some reason.
It was the scene where Pinocchio was singing at the circus. But for some reason she felt nothing but dread at the words being sung.
I've got no strings
To hold me down
To make me fret, or make me frown
Suddenly the screen began flickering, but still the song continued in a steadily more menacing tone
I had strings
But now I'm free
And with the last line, Bonnie felt someone step up behind her and whisper the last line into her ear in a dark and menacing, yet so familiar, voice.
There are no strings on me!
Bonnie turned around to see a pair of violet-red eyes and a white skinned form lunge for neck.
Bonnie suddenly shot up in her bed, panting with sweat from her nightmare. She placed her head in her hands trying to calm herself, missing the violet eyes looking at her from outside the window.
She looked at the window but the figure was gone.
But a storm was coming. And she was afraid.
My biggest gripe with the Vampire Diaries Universe is that there seems to be no mention nor sign that the most famous Vampire in History, Count Dracula, exists. Not even an implication that the one of more of the Mikaelson Family inspired the story.
Hell, even in the fandom there doesn't seem to be any stories about Dracula that I can find.
I have posted a challenge for you my readers to come up with your own story with this idea.
This is mine. Hope you like it. Please leave a review. I'm working on something else at the minute but I really wanted to post this. Enjoy.
