Chapter 21

"I want to know what your end goal is. Why did you not go back to your family? I mean don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish your home life on anyone, but it just doesn't make sense. What made you snap?"

"My end goal huh." He mused as he munched on the chips. "You're a smart girl, why don't you take a guess."

She huffed in annoyance but complied. "My best guess is revenge on Endeavor for whatever he did to you, but are you going to punish your entire family too?"

"I want Endeavor dead, I want to see the horror on his face once he realizes who I am, I want to see his absolute ruin. My family though, I suppose they'd be caught in the crossfire." He was so nonchalant talking about killing his own father, not even caring what repercussions it would have on his other kin.

"What exactly happened to you?"

He smirked at her and moved his finger back and forth, "No I don't think so sweetheart. You have to achieve friendship tier to unlock a tragic backstory."

"Do you even make friends though?" She asked skeptically. He put on a fake affronted look as he placed his hand on his chest. "I am highly offended."

She rolled her eyes and decided to play along, "fine then, what do you do for fun?"

"Murder, larceny, arson of course, and making children cry." He listed out. She looked at him with an incredulous look on her face. "None of those are considered fun." She paused and corrected herself. "I'm sorry, all but arson is considered fun. Do you seriously not have any normal hobbies? Oh wait, I forgot you're poor."

He threw his empty chip bag at her. "I'll burn this place to the ground, watch your mouth." She swatted the bag away. "How about we hang out once a week until I reach friendship territory? Maybe we can even have matching bracelets."

"You're not gonna let it go, are you? I was just kidding too, jeez. Why are you so interested anyway, not like it's any of your business nor would it affect the deal I offered."

She leaned forward, placing her arms on her knees. "Because I want to understand you." Her words shocked him, but he made sure to keep his face impassive. No one really cared where he came from, no one really wanted to genuinely know. "Fine, how is this going to work if you can't even be seen with me publicly? It would be a real shit show for you if someone discovered my identity when we're together."

She already knew the answer to that. "We meet here, I'll give you a key, but don't tell anyone else. If I find out you brought your other loser buddies here I'll kill you."

"And just how do you expect me to get here? Not like I could walk all the way here."

"You said you enjoyed larceny right? Add grand theft auto onto that and steal a dirt bike or something, I don't know."

He laughed, tilting his head back. "Endorsing crime now? You sure you wanna be a hero?"

She got up from her seat and grabbed the spare keys from the hooks by the front door and threw it at him. "I'm gonna need some of your blood too by the way."

"Why?"

"So you can enter the house without me and not get blown up." She pointed at the black writing on all the entry points of the house, including the windows. "You don't get to know what they are until we reach the tragic backstory ark of our friendship." He stood and inspected the marks she had, he knew they looked sort of like the marks she used for her quirk but much more intricate. He held out his hand so she could slice his finger open and he watched as she used it to write stuff on the markings by the front door and he saw the sigils all light up blue. "You're quite interesting for a simple high schooler." he said.

She shrugged as she stood back up, finished altering her protective seals. "You wanna stay here or have me drop you off somewhere in the city?" He had business he needed to deal with, but of course, he didn't tell her that and just told her to drop him off. She gave him the coordinates of the cabin before she left. He looked at the piece of paper to memorize the numbers before burning it in his hand.

She flashed to her bedroom and fell face-first onto her bed. She almost regretted her decision, but she couldn't help but want to understand him. She cursed Naruto in her head, he influenced her too much. Miwako pulled out her phone and called Bakugou. "I think I really fucked up this time. Can I come over?"

"What the hell did you do?" He asked the second she appeared in front of him. She flopped down on his bed. "I might have just made a plan to befriend a villain, by seeing him every week at my cabin. I also might have given said villain access to the cabin without me."

Silence was what answered her and she lifted her head slightly after it stretched too long to try and look at Bakugou's expression when a rough hand pushed her face hard into the bed. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Bakugou was furious.

"Ack!" She started swatting his hands away. "I have a good reason I promise." she pleaded with him. His hands moved and she saw rage-filled vermillion eyes. "He better have the nuclear codes or some shit for this to be reasonable."

"Well…he sorta does in a way." She sat up and ran a weary hand down her face. She took out some privacy seals she had on her and placed them around his room. "I found some stuff about the Hero Public Safety Commission when I came here. Some sick shit is happening there but they got security locked down tighter than a virgin's asshole. Dabi has intel on them that I need, but that's not all." She took a deep breath in and whispered. "His real name is Touya Todoroki, Endeavor's firstborn."

He didn't respond so she turned to him and he had a faraway expression on his face. He was trying to process everything she said. He stood up and started pacing his room. Hand running through his hair in agitation. "Let me get this straight, the very people that pay and oversee heroes, are what? The bad guys? And the only way you can get more information on them is through a villain who just happens to be the long-lost son of our very own number 2?"

She nodded and he crouched down on the ground, elbows on his knees, hands covering his mouth. "Who else knows?"

"Just you, I haven't told anyone else." At her admission his eyes shot to hers, eyebrows pulled towards his hairline. "You can't be-Kami you have to tell someone. Aizawa, your dad, All Might! Why haven't you said anything? Don't tell me you suspect them or something."

She flinched back in anger at the thought. "Of course not! I would never think they're a part of this, it's just…all of you are so trusting that I didn't want to just rip the rug out from under you."

"Is that why you asked about how I feel about things after seeing how you grew up?" He asked, "To test me and see if I could handle it?"

She closed her eyes with a grimace. "...yes."

"Unbe-fucking-lievable." He walked closer to her and grasped her shoulders. "Look at me." He demanded and didn't say anything until she did so. "I told you I would help you change things, I told you that your past doesn't change a damned thing. Stop trying to do everything on your own."

"Ok," she whispered. "I'll-I'll tell Aizawa and my dad." He let out a relieved sigh at her words and placed his forehead on hers. They stayed like that until they were ready to once again deal with reality. "Come one whiskers, we're doing it now. Call All Might too." He pulled her up from the bed and held onto her hand for her to take them back to her house. She nodded and sent a text to Aizawa before flashing back home. However, they weren't expecting the scene they came upon.

3 men in black suits stood in her living room while All Might sat on the couch, looking stressed. "Dad, what's going on?" She questioned as Bakugou subtly angled his body in front of her.

"Miwako Uzumaki, you are under arrest for quirk fraud." one of the men said.

Her face scrunched up. "Quirk fraud? On what grounds?" The man closest to the door lifted up a picture. It was of her and Bakugou during their match, her eyes, claws, and Kurama's chakra was shown in the photo. How they got such a photo was a mystery to her. She kept her cool and just scoffed at the photo. "Is that it? Isn't it the law to be able to change your quirk in the registry at least once? You can't arrest me for not knowing the full extent of my quirk."

The man put the photo away. "Then we can arrest you for illegal usage of your quirk. We all just witnessed you use it to get here." Her eyes narrowed at them. "And just who the hell are you people?"

"We were sent by the Hero Public Safety Commission to bring you in for questioning." Bakugou's grip on her hand almost crushed it as he pulled her farther behind him. All Might got up from his seat and stood as a shield for them. "Now hold on, my daughter is a minor. You can't take her in for questioning without me being present."

While All Might had the attention of the men, she slipped a piece of paper into Bakugou's hands before letting go and stepping out from behind him. "It's ok Dad, I'll go with them."

"But Miwako you don't have to it-" She shook her head and grabbed his hand, cutting him off. "I promise I'll be fine, can you keep Katsuki company while I'm gone? It shouldn't be long." All Might opened his mouth to try and fight more but she squeezed his hand tighter and gave him a look. He sighed and nodded, feeling dejected that he couldn't help his own daughter, not in this form.

She walked to the front door with the three men and looked back to give Bakugou and All Might a reassuring look before the door closed. The men lead her to a sleek black car with tints on the window so dark you couldn't see through it.

Two men sat in the front and the other sat in the back with her, keeping an eye on her at all times. Once they got into the car, they brought out quirk-canceling cuffs and she scoffed as she let them put it on her. "What too scared to put it on me in front of my dad knowing it's illegal?"

The man across from her scowled. "I wouldn't be so cheeky if I were you."

The second the door closed, Bakugou walked right up to it and watched through the window as she was placed in a car with no license plate and no markings. He watched until they were out of sight before closing all the blinds in the house and double-checking all the locks before looking at the piece of paper in his hands. It was one of her privacy seals, one made for others to use, he noted.

He recalled how to activate it and placed it right on the coffee table in the living room. He knew this seal had a 5-meter range. "Sir, I need you to call Aizawa and tell him to come here immediately. Miwako already did, but now it's even more urgent."

All Might nodded and pulled out his phone. Aizawa was already on his way, but with the new developments, he was flying down the highway now. It took another ten minutes until there was a knock on the door and All Might checked to see who it was before opening it. Ushering Aizawa inside to sit on the couch.

"What is this all about? Why would the commission take Miwako?" He asked the second he stepped through the door.

"They saw her transform partially during the sports festival." All Might said, but Bakugou shook his head. "I don't know if that's all of it. There's something we wanted to tell the both of you when we got here." He explained what Miwako told him and had to even explain the dynamics of the Todoroki family. "Luckily we have All Might to at least keep the peace once this shit implodes." How wrong he was to think that the symbol of peace would be there to help keep the trust in heroes alive.

The teachers were silent. All Might had a tight grip on his pants, not knowing what to say. He could feel the weight of responsibility and failure pressing down on him. He was the symbol of peace, he was the number 1 hero, the strongest in Japan, and yet, he had failed the next generation.

"Do you know where she kept all these documents?" Aizawa asked, there was no time to wallow in self-pity at a time like this.

Bakugou shook his head. "No, she didn't. I told her to call All Might, but she didn't have time. Can either of you do it?"

That made the man in question stiffen in his seat as he glanced at Aizawa who had no sympathy for the panicking man beside him. "Well are either of you gonna do it?" Bakugou questioned after neither moved. He could tell there was something strange going on and narrowed his eyes at them both. "You two know something. Spit it out."

"Well that's…it's a little hard to explain." All Might said.

"Can't be harder than the shit that's going on now."

All Might gave Aizawa another pleading look. "It's your secret to tell." He went to go make some coffee leaving All Might to deal with it himself.

He let out a heavy sigh and stood up. "Young Bakugou, this does not leave the room." He said as he transformed into his buffer version for a few seconds before letting it drop. Bakugou sat wide-eyed at where he stood. "All…Might?"

"That's correct young man." He said as he sat back down. He explained everything to Bakugou, all but his impending death. He was now caught up to everything along with Midoriya. Bakugou sat frozen as he tried to process everything that was said. That his idol chose Midoriya of all people. Today has been an information overload that he couldn't handle.

His breathing started to accelerate as he clutched his burning chest. He didn't register how Aizawa rushed toward him, grasping his shoulders for him to straighten his back out, to allow more air into his lungs. "Bakugou! You need to slow your breathing!" Aizawa said as he tried to regain control over the situation.

Bakugou snapped as he suddenly stood up, pushing their hands away, and rushed to Miwako's room. They heard the slamming of the door and the adults felt shame. He stayed in her room, laying on her bed in silence for everything to sink in.

Midoriya's surprise quirk, the way it damaged his body, the reason All Might was always so attentive toward him. It all made so much sense and he thought about his smaller form. They were widely different but now that he knew, he could see it so clearly that he felt dumb for not realizing it before.

He didn't know how long he stayed there until the door opened. "Katsuki?" Miwako was finally home. She took several quick steps toward him and held him in her arms. "Everything's going to be alright. We'll figure it all out."

He stayed there, head pressed against her sternum soaking up her warmth. He felt so tired already, his mind coming up with so many scenarios in her absence. "If you don't want to continue you can stay here. I'm gonna bring the documents down for Aizawa and Dad to look over."

He shook his head. "Just give me a second. I want to know." She nodded and held him tighter, giving him a moment of reprieve before throwing them all to the wolves once more.

They walked back down together after she gathered all the intel she collected over the years, showing Bakugou where she kept all her important documents. She laid them out on the table pointing to each one and explaining what they were. Slowly they reached out and picked out a packet of their own to read over.

Before they started reading, All Might asked her what happened with the commission. "Oh, they kept trying to get me to do tests on my quirk and to change my registry, but I refused. They were really obsessed about it too."

"And then they just let you go?" Aizawa questioned, but it didn't make any sense.

"No, they put a tail on me. The president lady tried really hard to be intimidating, but honestly, it was more fun to see them try to get me to slip up. They're also digging into my past too, but there isn't much for them to see."

"A tail?!" All Might looked around as if he could spot them inside the house. "Relax Dad, it's fine as long as everyone watches what they say, keep one of my privacy tags around you at all times from now on. Now can we get on with this, I'm exhausted."

They all let it go and opened their packets to start reading. Aizawa luckily brewed a lot of coffee for them to drink. The only sounds in the room were occasional page flipping, the clink of the mug back onto the coffee table, or the questions thrown out for clarification.

Miwako had her head resting on Bakugou's lap as everyone read, eyes closed as she slowly dozed off. The shattering of a mug had her shooting up and she saw Aizawa with blood dripping down his hands and his quirk activated as he read through the paper. "How accurate is this information?"

"I can tell you I've double-checked everything in each of the documents as best I could."

"You'd stake your life on this information?" He questioned harshly.

"Yes, I would. What's wrong?" She asked as she sat up to take a closer look at what he was looking at. It was the list of missing bodies that the commission never released to the public. They were filled with children all the way to the elderly. The only connecting factor was their unique and potentially powerful quirks.

He flipped through the pages furiously trying to find out why the missing bodies were hidden or at least what they did with them. "Is there nothing about what possibly could have happened?"

She shook her head. "I couldn't find anything about where they went or who exactly took them."

Aizawa slumped back in his chair staring at a name on the list. She didn't want to pry and so she got up to grab the medical kit and started to clean and bandage his hand. They all decided that they needed a break and left to head to their prospective rooms. Aizawa chose to stay the night and slept in the guest bedroom.
