St. Canard Maximum Security Prison was a prison for all supervillains in the city. It didn't matter that Andy and Ann Bill (Jack and Jill) were only adolescents - they were tried like adults and sentenced to ten-to-life for kidnapping. Like some supervillain prisoners, the twins were allowed to keep one part of their signature outfits: their jester hats.
Firebird was there too, sentenced to a year for destroying Bayside Bridal Boutique (and general crimes against fashion.) The orange jumpsuit everyone wore was too pedestrian, but she did like the color. Like most supervillains there, she was itching to get out. She knew Jack and Jill would help her.
Firebird spotted them during lunchtime in the cafeteria - the jester hats made it easy to spot them. She went up to them and asked, "Are you two Quackerjack's kids?"
"Yeah?" Jack didn't even look up from the substance he was eating.
Jill looked at the blackbird and asked, "Who wants to know, Joe?"
"I'm Firebird. I tried to burn down the Bayside Bridal Boutique. But that's not important. What is important is I've found a way to bust us out of here." Firebird pulled something out of her pants' pocket. Jack and Jill had enough chemistry classes to know that Firebird held three components in her hands: charcoal, sulfur, and potassium nitrate. "What do you kids know about fireworks?"
