Chapter One
12 hours earlier…
FBI…
Don sighed as he saw Colby avoiding looking at David once again, making him wonder if David will ever be willing to even forgive Colby.
'I get that David is upset that Colby lied but this is getting a bit much.' Don thought to himself.
'Maybe after work I will try to get them together and try to get them to talk things out.'
The mood in the room didn't improve when Megan walked in, still looking like a ghost due to her mysterious assignment and Don didn't know what to do about her situation either and he had a discussion with Bradford about this whole situation yesterday.
The psychiatrist offered to do a group therapy session, which Don is more than willing to do in order to get his team back on track.
He had to put off the thought, as Merrick then called him to let him know that they have a new case a few minutes later, much to Don's discomfort, though he was quick to agree as he figured that some field work could help.
Though he wasn't about to partner them up, as he didn't want to have an incident that he would have to report to his superiors.
"Okay, we have a case, one dealing with several robberies at several federal buildings and they want our input on the case, with the last one leaving several hospitalized."
He saw that his team's faces were apprehensive, as they had mostly been working on cold cases since Colby returned from the hospital and it had been tense.
"Given our situation right now, I will be partnering with Colby and David will be with Megan, there are a lot of things that are not adding up in this case and a lot of witnesses to talk to." He said as he handed out the name of one of the hospitalized victims to Megan.
Colby noticeably relaxed when Don announced the partnerships, as he really wasn't in the mood to try to fix things with David right now, not after being snapped at by the man yesterday.
All he did was try to say hi when the agent just angrily told him that he was a liar and that he didn't belong there before Megan broke them up and sent a disgruntled David on his way.
'I don't envy her.' Colby thought miserably as he quickly headed for the elevator with Don hurrying to catch up.
David turned to see Megan's death glare, and he knew that he deserved it for the way he had been acting the past couple months.
"I'll apologize when we get back." David said quietly, as he felt guilty for what he had said yesterday and for his behavior but he was still hurt by Colby lying to him.
"You better." Megan said in a cold voice as they headed for the stairs, as Megan was in no mood to wait for the elevator.
David quickly followed her, knowing that he was in the doghouse with both her and Don, as he knew that he needed to talk to Colby.
He just had to hope it wasn't too late to correct yesterday's, and the past two month's, mistakes.
