Chapter Three
Meanwhile…
Mercy Hospital…
Both Megan and David felt uneasy being in a hospital again, as their last one was pretty stressful and just adds on to David's guilt about the Janus List incident.
"Ryan Johnson's room is 104." The secretary said, pulling David out of his thoughts as he followed still quiet Megan towards the guy's room, and he knew that this would be a difficult interview to do, given that victims like Ryan are sometimes still processing the whole thing themselves.
The man in question was sitting in his hospital room with his wife, Amy, by his side as he was rubbing his broken arm and looked nervous when he saw the agents.
Megan was quick to introduce her and David, hoping that they weren't going to agitate him with their presence.
"Is it okay if we ask you a few questions?" Megan asked patiently
"Sure." The injured man said after a couple of moments of silence, though his wife looked uneasy about the questioning.
"So, what can you tell us about the robbery?" David asked, determined to get through this interview
"Not much to tell, like I told the officers, as what I remember most is a bunch of people yelling and running and the next thing I knew I was shoved to the ground really hard, probably by one of the robbers, which broke my arm and two ribs." Ryan said quietly.
"Anything else you can think of?" Megan asked, feeling like something was off but she couldn't pinpoint it.
"One of the women, Kristie I think, said one of the robbers had a jagged scar or tattoo, so you will probably have to ask her." Ryan answered
"Okay, after regaining some of your bearings, did you notice anything else?" David asked, feeling the same as Megan did
"Not too much, just that two of the robbers didn't seem to mesh with the other three, as they barely left before the cops did, does that mean anything?" The man said as he started to lie down as a nurse came into the room.
"Maybe, thanks for your time." Megan said as she saw the nurse wanted the agents out of there and they had other people to interview anyway.
"Think he's hiding something?" David asked as they walked out of the hospital
"Maybe but let's see what the other witnesses have to say." Megan said, as they got into the car
David nodded, just glad to see that Megan seemed to be lightening up a little bit but it still felt to him that something was off about her.
He'll just have to wait for her to say what her other problems are.
