Chapter Eleven

Hospital…

Outside of Colby's room…

Alan sadly looked on as the younger man in the hospital room, as he had never seen Colby that still since the…incident and he wondered how it would impact his life, and his job at the FBI, which had only just restarted.

He was also worried about the search for Don, as while he knew that David and Megan are good agents, he has gotten the sense that Megan has been dealing with her own problems.

Apart from the Janus List incident, he knew from what Don and Charlie had told him that Megan was still dealing with the ramifications of her assignment, making him wonder what had happened during that.

Before he could think more about the issue, a doctor put a hand on his shoulder, with a concerned look on his face.

"Is something wrong?" Alan asked, worried

"Not sure at the moment, but it seems that Granger has developed an infection." The doctor said

"How? He just got here." A perplexed Alan said

"From what we have been able to tell, it seems that his infection started several days ago, though we aren't entirely sure from what." The doctor said

"Is it related to what he was injected with?" Alan asked, now getting worried

"Not sure, but we are working on finding treatment, though it will be complicated with his injuries."

"Will he be alright, Doctor?" Alan asked

"I can't say too much more right now, Alan, but I can reassure you that we are doing everything we can to help him recover from this ordeal." The doctor said before giving him a small smile saying:

"You can call me Aaron and I'll be back later."

Alan was left with new thoughts as Aaron left, wondering how he was going to break the latest news to the team, particularly to David, given how much guilt they are already feeling.

He was just grateful that Colby had listed him as next of kin, as it was a reminder that they all still considered each other family.
