Gabriel and the Wacky Pack chapter one.--One day, Gabriel's school bus drove from Reading Pennsylvania to Antietam Creek Maryland. Gabriel and his special education classmates had a special field trip, bringing some money to purchase goodies and souvenirs. Gabriel had his sensory bag around his shoulder - a green cloth bag, with headphones, fidget tools, sunglasses, and a cloth mask - if he encounters yucky scents. The bus radio played various songs, the last one being "Life in the Fast Lane" by the band "Eagles".Gabriel sat next to Leno, one of his classmates. Leno looked like Gabriel, but Leno wears an orange-colored beanie hat, black vest, black pants, and white sneakers. They both played a Spyro game on their shared Nintendo DS, saving the game's progress when the bus stopped at a lovely cottage - the field trip's destination. They were carefully guided off the bus by adults and bus aides, entering the Antietam Creek Cottage's premises.--"Antietam Creek is famous for its leeks," a tour guide said, as the classmates followed him. "We have leek jam, cream of leek soup, leek phyllo pastries, leek pizza, leek venison wild rice stew, stir-fried sticky soy sauce leeks, and more...""Ew..." Gabriel moaned, feeling nauseous. "Veggies and fruits feel gross in my mouth." Leno nodded, agreeing with Gabriel somewhat. "Yeah Gabe... I don't like leeks much, unless they're caramelized. Then they taste AWESOME. My dad grills leeks with garlic butter and steak. It's heavenly.""But I dislike vegetables and fruits," Gabriel replied, stuttering a bit in his speech. "They taste too sour, too bitter, and they feel like rubber or aliens in my mouth. Ew.""Delta Dawn, what's that flower you've been on? Could it be your favorite rose from days gone by?" Carole sang. Carole was one of Gabriel's special education classmates. She is also autistic and has significant learning disabilities, but she sings songs almost perfectly - no matter if boys tell her to "shut up". She focused on the flowers and cottage meadows, especially the foxgloves, bloomimg hostas, yellow lupin flowers, blue poppies, and pink dianthus flowers. The song playing just outside the cottage, was Tony Orlando's "Who's in the strawberry patch with 5" - near a strawberry patch filled with rows of pink strawberries - light bubblegum pink, not regular red. Their mild sweetness is like that of pineapple and lychee, waiting to be devoured by the gang of hungry students.
Meanwhile, a duo of tiny human gnomes - Roger (nicknamed "Roge") and Larry (nicknamed "Lars") peeked at the students from a distance, in the safety of their enchanted gnome village. Their gnome village was kindly created by an unknown artist - such artist was ridiculed and told that "gnomes and fairies arent real". Their houses looked like toadstools. Their best friends were small creatures, fairies, insects, and butterflies. TBC
