New York City...a few minutes before New Years day
They say people never truly know why they are brought onto this planet...they kinda just go through life and accept whatever is thrown there way.
However this is not the case when you are a descendant of a God, sooner than later, you realize you have a direct and absolute purpose.
However, when you realize that purpose is completely up to faith, some realize when they are but the tender age of a toddler, some may realize when they are already seasoned and on their 60th roundabout with father time...
That day was very swiftly approaching a group of teenagers...and none of them even knew it yet.
In a high-rise apartment, on Brooklyn's East Flatbush square, a party was being thrown in celebration for the new year that was to come.
The party was held by Stacia Barlett, a very outstanding woman in her neighborhood.
The woman's stunning ebony skin, long, naturally curly hair, and deep brown eyes tantalized many men in the neighborhood, but she would never give them a chance.
Her heart was captured by her late husband, Germaine Barlett, and even though he'd want her to move on, she couldn't bring herself to love another the way she loved him.
The only place in her heart that was for another male individual was for her son, Geleel Barlett, which she was currently looking for.
"Has anyone seen Geleel?" Stacia questioned numerous guests at the party as to the whereabouts of her son.
Unfortunately nobody seemed to know.
"Isn't that him out there?" A woman questioned as Stacia turned to where the woman was pointing.
Stacia then let out a sigh as she noticed her son was too busy being fixated on his telescope that he'd set up outside.
"Thank you." Stacia said to woman before she made her way to the doors to go address her son.
The boy had always been interested in the stars and planets so much...she never could understand it, the only one that could understand it was his father.
Ever since he got that telescope he'd been outside day and night using it, but not tonight, it was New Years! He needed to come inside and have fun!
"Oye." Stacia called out as Geleel jumped a bit before turning away from the television to address his mother.
He turned so swiftly, the symbol of Achilles pendant that was chained should his neck swung three times before settling.
"Hey ma, what's up?" Geleel questioned as she walked up to him.
"Come on papi, you know New Years is in a couple minutes, can't you give the telescope a rest for tonight?" Stacia questioned her son.
"Mama...I promise I'll be there for the countdown, I just really need to keep watc-" Stacia groaned at her son which cuts him off.
"Geleel, you say this everytime, what is even so important tonight that you've been out here the entire time?" She questioned him as he smiled at her.
"I am so glad you asked mom." Geleel said as Stacia sighed, she wasn't looking for an actual explanation.
"Mom, all the planets are aligning tonight, the effects on the Earth's electromagnetic energy will be amazing!" Geleel exclaimed as he ushered his mother over to the telescope.
"Here, have a look." He encouraged her as she grumbled and began looking through it.
"I see nothing but white dots!" Stacia shouted after about 10 seconds before standing up straight and facing her son again.
"Geleel...you have to get your head out of the stars for once, you're 17 now baby...please come back down to Earth, for today atleast?" Stacia questioned Geleel as he frowned and looked down in defeat.
His mother never seemed to care for his passion about the stars, she wasn't going to start now he thought as he stared at the ground beneath him.
"Okay ma, I'll take a break for New Years." Geleel said as he feigned a smile.
"Good, now come inside, you'll catch a cold out here in just this T shirt." Stacia warned her son as she began ushering him inside for the party.
Geleel stared back to the ground when his mother wasn't lookinh, he didn't want her to see him still staring solemnly at the floor...the planets were aligning today! How could she not understand how awesome that was...this meant everything to him.
Unfortunately, what he and every other being on Earth failed to realize, was that with the planets aligning, a great evil would be soon unleashed on the world...
A few minutes later...
Geleel found himself standing amongst the party guests, he was now clad in a black hoodie.
He watched as everyone raved and clapped, they were about 15 seconds off of New Years.
Sure, he was still a little peeved about his mother not respecting his dreams, he couldn't help but smile at how excited everyone at the party was for the New Year.
"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1!" Everyone counted simultaneously as Geleel smiled at this.
"Happy New Years!!!" The crowd shouted as the clock struck 12 A.M., it was finally here.
Maybe ma was right...coming back to Earth for a bit wasn't so bad, not so bad at all.
The Next Day
Geleel was out on the water today, though his mother said all he cared about was the stars...she had completely negated the fact the boy loved teaching people, and today he was teaching a group of younger kids how to sail.
"That's it guys!" Geleel complimented his small class of four as they cheered and whooped.
Geleel led them across the beautiful blue water.
"If we keep this up we're gonna be even better than mr. Geleel!" A girl shouted.
"Yea!" The others shouted.
"Let's not get too hasty there Carmen." Geleel said with a chuckle.
"Now switch directions!" He then added as they followed him to the left.
"Remember your points, beam reach, downwind and-" Geleel cuts himself off as a giant being emerged from the water.
"Ah! Sea monster!" Carmen shouted as the kids began screaming.
Geleel was in shock to say the least...what the hell was this thing? It was some sort of giant humanoid oaf with green skin, and it CERTAINLY wasn't friendly.
"Paddle back to shore kids!" Geleel shouted to his team as they turned and did just that.
The monsterous giant then swung it's arm down at Geleel's boat as the latter was forced to jump over board to avoid being battered to death.
Geleel settled in the water for a bit as bubbles and the water's currents ran rapidly, he was trying to stay alive, but he was also trying to figure out if this was really happening or not...
The boy then rose to the surface as he began swimming quickly away from the giant who lets out a loud roar and chases after him.
"Ack!" Geleel exclaimed as the giant's movements caused a large wave to rock the former's body offcourse.
The oaf had now caught up, Geleel was about to be finished off.
Fortunately, right as Geleel was about to be flattened, a strong pair of talons came and grabbed him by the arms and flew him out of the water.
Geleel looked down at the oaf who was getting further and further away, the latter roared out in anguish as it glared at Geleel.
The beast then turned and began swimming back to wherever the Hell it came from...Geleel sighed in relief.
Realization then struck him as he decided to look up and see what was flying with him inside of it's talons.
The creature seemed to be half lion and half eagle all at once...it was a Griffon...they were real.
"Hey! Wait! Let me go! I need to check on the kids!" Geleel shouted at the Griffon, the creature continued flying and paid him no mind and simply screeched after a pause.
Geleel was about to struggle out of the Griffon's grip before realization struck him again...he looked to the ground to realize how high he was...
After removing the lump in his throat he simply sighed, staying with the Griffon would be the best choice, afterall, she just saved him, right?
Or was she only stealing him from that giant so she can eat him herself...
"This is gonna end bad either way." Geleel said to himself with a sigh.
Suddenly another screech is heard as Geleel turned to his right to see another Griffon fly up besides the one that had him in her clutches.
The strange thing about this other Griffon was the fact a man clad in a white thobe of sorts and a brown hat with goggles was riding atop it's back.
His hat had wings on it, as did his shoes and as did the golden scepter he had in his hands.
"What the...you do realize what you're doing, right?" Geleel questioned the man who nodded.
"Yup! Oh and you might wanna climb up on her back, she's less likely to eat you that way." The man informed Geleel who instantly gained a face of panic.
"What?" Geleel shouted as he looked up at the Griffon in wary.
"I'm just kidding." The man said with a chuckle as he flew his Griffon over to Geleel.
"Are you crazy? How is that funny?" Geleel shouted at him.
"She's not gonna eat you so it's funny! Besides, I tamed her myself, she just didn't have breakfast this morning." The man informed Geleel as he smiled at the Griffon.
"Little cranky aren't you girl? You didn't have your breaky-weaky today." The man cooed at Griffon as she snapped her beak at him.
"Hey! Watch it!" The man shouted as he began having a back and forth with the Griffon.
Geleel could not believe what his day had become, sure he was excited that Griffons were actually real...but there was just no way he went from sailboating to being held hostage by a flock of mythical creatures and a deranged man was having an argument with the one carrying him.
"Okay Andrea, you can go ahead and drop him now." The man said as Geleel's eyes widened at this.
"No Andrea! No the hell you can't!" He shouted as the Griffon screeched at him.
"Stoppp!" Geleel shouted as Andrea dropped him through the sky for a bit.
"I hate my life!" He shouted as he free falled through the sky.
"Well that's depressing." The man said as he flew near Geleel as the latter fell.
"Is there something wrong with you dude?" Geleel questioned the man.
"My name isn't dude, my name is Hermes." The now dubbed Hermes corrected Geleel.
"Wait what...Hermes like the God-" Hermes cuts Geleel off.
"Too many questions! You passed my test anyways." Hermes said with a smile as Geleel continued free falling through the sky.
"Which would be?" Geleel questioned him.
"Falling through the sky and not dying of a heart attack yet." Hermes responded curtly.
"Gee, how grateful I am to have passed such a normal and beautiful examination." Geleel said in a flat tone.
"Very well, Andrea! Grab him again!" Hermes shouted as Andrea screeched and grabbed onto Geleel again.
"Aye! Easy with the claws!" He shouted at her as they continued flying...the boy still had no clue where he was being taken.
Virginia...Forest
Izabella Cortez had been many things in her life time, and has always been the top of her class in almost every sense.
However, what she could never be was an indoors person.
This is evident as the girl ran through the wild woodlands of Virginia, a bow in her hand, wrapped around that same hand was the symbol of Athena in the form of a band.
The girl was seemingly tracking something...
Her brown hair was wrapped in a high ponytail as she dawned a blue T-shirt and some cargo shorts.
"This time, this time for sure." She told herself as she knelt behind a rock, she was chasing an elusive elk all day, it was not going to escape this time.
The girl then rose up slightly as her fierce brown eyes were trained on the elk, it had stopped for water, big mistake when Izabella was on it's heels.
Izabella then placed an arrow into her bow as she brung it all the way back, she had a clear shot, this was going to put an end to this chase for good.
Unfortunately, right as she fired the arrow, her two idiot friends Omar and Michael came walking behind her making unnecessary noise.
The noise knocked Izabella off her focus as she fired the arrow and missed the elk's head by a single centimeter.
The elk then screeched loudly as it turned and ran away swiftly.
"No! Dang it..." Izabella said in a hushed tone as she was growing furious.
"Why did I even bring you two idiots with me?" Izabella questioned irately as she turned to the fools.
"Ya know, in our defense, most hunters use guns these days, why are we using primitive bows?" Omar questioned as Izabella sighed and turned away from them.
"Whatever, just shutup and let me hunt please?" She questioned them as she had moved to a new spot.
Her new target was a woodland stag, wasn't the elk but...it'd have to do.
Izabella was about to line the shot up again, but when she heard more noises behind her again, even LOUDER this time, she was about to lose her cool.
"Could you make any more noise? Didn't you see there was a..." Izabella trailed off when she turned around to see her friends running away in terror.
However, she quickly took note of what it was they were afraid of...as said culprit stood before her.
It was a giant, just like the one that had attacked Geleel earlier, only this one was red and seemed to be even angrier.
"A big ugly red guy standing right behind me..." Izabella finished her thought from earlier as she stood up swiftly.
The giant roared as Izabella quickly lept over the rock and began running from the beast.
He chased her all throughout the forest as she breathed heavily.
The giant was getting angrier by the second because he could not for the life of him catch Izabella, she was always faster than the average human, and she was putting it to use now.
"What is happening?" Izabella shouted as the giant roared loudly again.
She didn't know what her plan was...but he wasn't going to get her so easily.
Geleel
Geleel was now atop Andrea's back as Hermes had just explained a few of the former's questions.
"Okay, so lemme see if I got everything correct, you're Hermes...the ACTUAL immortal messenger of the Gods?" Geleel questioned as Hermes nodded proudly.
"Yup! That is me, why do I always get stereotyped? I'm also the God of trade, travel, luck, language...the list goes on! But, who remembers all that? No one." Hermes replied with a chuckle.
"But what do you need with me? Where are you taking me?" Geleel continued to question Hermes.
"What is this? I saved your life and all I get is complaints and all these questions? Have I heard a thank you yet? Noooo." Hermes answered for him.
"Oh you right my bad, thank you for saving me and then dropping me from 30,000 feet in the air, anyways, can you just answer my questions?" Geleel questioned as Hermes rolled his eyes.
"Gee, pushy much? I can't really answer most of those questions anyways, I'm afraid those answers lie mostly within this." Hermes stated as he flew over and raised Geleel's pendant up with the scepter.
Geleel then grabbed onto the pendant and looked at it as Hermes flew back over.
"My chain? What about my chain?" Geleel questioned as Hermes sighed, this would be harder than he'd anticipated.
"Can you just wait till we get there? I promise all will be revealed." Hermes assured Geleel who sighed in response.
"Aye man, where are we? It looks bleak as hell out here." Geleel said with an arched brow.
"Virginia-ack!" Hermes exclaimed as his Griffon alerted him to what was happening in the forest below.
The God then used his spyglass to look down into the forest, Izabella was still running away from the red giant.
"Woah! That looks just like the green dude that tried to kill me earlier, only this one looks meaner..." Geleel said as Hermes nodded.
"Good eye kid! We better hurry up!" Hermes shouted as the Griffons began diving towards Izabella and the giant.
On the ground, Izabella had grown tired of running away from the giant, so she stopped and tried to hold her ground.
The giant charged at her with a growl as she side stepped and let him trip on his own momentum.
"You can always give up, ya know?" Izabella questioned the oaf as he rose to his feet irately.
He then grabbed a large fallen tree as she prepared to swing it down onto Izabella.
Fortunately the girl used her agility to roll out of the way.
"I don't mind a little chase, but this is-woah!" Izabella exclaimed as the giant through the dead tree at her, forcing her to duck under it.
"Okay buddy, I think it's time I put an end to this." Izabella said as she walked up to the giant with an irate stare.
The giant returned it as he prepared to slam his fist onto her.
Fortunately, before he could do so, Andrea had swooped down as Geleel swiftly grabbed Izabella by her raised hand and quickly got her onto Andrea's back.
Izabella did not know what just happened...she was still shocked about seeing the giant, but she was more shocked to see that she was indeed departing from the ground on the back of a Griffon...and a boy in front of her riding it.
"Thank you...that was..." Izabella trails off as Geleel chuckles.
"Crazy? Yea I know, I been havin a hell of a day too." Geleel said as they both turned to see the red giant roar in anquish before walking off into the forest.
"Nice one Geleel! Looks like you are getting a hang of flying Andrea!" Hermes shouted as he flew up besides them, Geleel and Izabella both turnedto him, the boy was smiling and the girl was still a bit confused by what was happening, but she was still thankful to atleast be alive and away from that giant.
"Although, I brought a Griffon for Izabella too, now I have too many Griffons." Hermes stated as he alluded to the other three Griffons flying behind them.
"How do you know my name?" Izabella questioned him incredulously as Hermes only chuckled and response and opted not to answer her question.
"Who the hell is that guy?" Izabella questioned Geleel.
"That's the one and only Hermes, and I'm Geleel, nice to-" Izabella cuts Geleel off.
"And I must be dreaming, cause there's no way that any of this is really happening." Izabella stated as Geleel smiled at that.
"Trust me...I was having the same thoughts an hour ago." Geleel stated as they continued flying.
Rural Area of Michigan
Barrett Helsel was no ordinary teen to say the least.
The guy was always doing something EXTRAORDINARY to say the least, and despite only being 19 years old, he was already looking to be atleast 30 years old.
He may have lived on a farm, but he didn't mind it, he loved the more quiet peaceful farm life.
Ironically enough, for someone who was so keen on farm life, he was very gifted when it came to innovations, give him a paper clip, a piece of lint and a pennie and he could turn it into a battery powerful enough to supercharge a cellphone.
Barrett had just came from the barn as he knew today he'd have to handle the farm, his family was away for a few days.
"Time for a break." Barrett said to himself as he changed his muddied shirt to a orange long-sleeve shirt.
"Snack time." He said with a smirk as he walked over to the apple tree, unfortunately, when he reached for an apple, the tree fell over and almost crushed him.
"Woah!" He exclaimed as he fell to the ground.
He then looked up to see a blue giant standing besides a yellow giant.
The man then grunted as the giants growled irately...they weren't going to kill him so easily.
As Barrett stood up he grabbed a shovel as he prepared to swing it at the blue giant.
"Come on-woah!" He exclaimed as he was snatched up by a Griffon.
"What the- oh come on, I wanted to smash em." Barrett said begrudgingly as he watched the giants roar angrily on the ground below.
Wait...ground below, he thought as he looked up to see Hermes' Griffon was carrying him.
He then looked to his right and noticed Geleel and Izabella on Andrea.
Hermes then prompts his Griffon to drop Barrett onto a new one as the latter grunted.
"Hey there Barrett, looked like you almost had those guys back there!" Hermes shouted as Barrett arched a brow.
"This can't be real...I must've hit my head again." He said to himself.
"Trust me, you didn't." Geleel spoke up as Barrett still struggled to process everything that was happening right now.
"Alright kids! Let's get a move on!" Barrett shouted as the Griffons sped forward.
Later
"Here we are!" Hermes shouted as they had seemingly finally reached the destination.
The kids gasped as they noticed it was some sort of high-school...it was large to say the least, and it seemed to have multiple facilities in one.
"Welcome to the Academy of Olympia!" Hermes shouted as the Griffons all landed in the football field that was outside of the school.
Geleel and Izabella got off of Andrea carefully as they watched Barrett fall off of his Griffon and lay flat on his back.
"Alright now kids, off you go." Hermes said with a smile.
"Go where?" Izabella questioned as the three kids grouped up.
"You guys wanna tell me what's going on?" Barrett questioned them as he had his hands on his knees, the flight was seemingly more rough on him than them.
"Aye, don't ask me, ask Hermes, he's the one who-" Geleel cuts himself off as he turned to realize Hermes had disappeared from the field.
"Nah, there's no way this is happening right now...where the hell did he go?" Geleel questioned in annoyance.
"I don't know, toga party?" Izabella questioned with a shrug.
"Unbelievable." Was all Geleel could state as they all looked around in confusion.
"Hey guys, that janitor guy looks like he's waiting for us to come inside." Barrett said with a smile as Izabella and Geleel suspiciously eyed the elderly janitor that was seemingly waiting by the entrance door.
"I don't know man..." Izabella trailed off.
"Yea this guy looks kinda creepy, I don't think we should go up to him." Geleel said as Izabella nodded.
"Oh come on, don't be wusses, let's atleast see if he'll let us use the phones." Barrett stated as he began walking towards the janitor.
"Aye! Wait!" Geleel shouted as he and Izabella followed Barrett.
As the kids got closer the janitor finally moved and began walking through the hallway.
They all got inside the school as they noticed him round a corner and get out of sight.
"Hey wait! Excuse me sir!" Barrett shouted as they all ran to the end of the hall.
"Wow...he's fast as hell for a dude his age I'll give him that." Geleel said as they noticed the man standing at end of the new hall.
"I'll say." Izabella said with a smirk, she could always appreciate some speed.
"Aye wait, can you help us?!" Geleel shouted as the janitor walked off again, forcing them to run after him.
"Damn, this old dude's rude." Geleel then stated as they ran after the man.
As they rounded a corner again, this time they notice the janitor go into his closet.
They ran up to the door as Izabella tried to twist the knob to no avail.
"Ugh! Let's just get out of here!" She shouted in annoyance.
"That's weird...this lock seems like a perfect fit for my pendant's base." Geleel said as he presented his pendant's base to them.
"Woahh, you have one too?" Barrett questioned as he raised the belt accessory he had on his hip to show the symbol of Hesphaestus, but the base of the symbol had the same shape as Geleel's.
Izabella then raised her hand to show them her Athena symbol, which she soon realized had the same base as well.
"This can't just be a coincidence..." Geleel trailed off as they looked look at the symbols in confusion.
"What do you think they do?" Izabella questioned Geleel.
"Well, I have a hunch." Geleel said as he took his pendant and placed the base into the door's keyhole.
After turning it once, the door opened as they all gasped.
"Wow...that was actually really cool, all of our symbols must be keys!" Barrett exclaimed as they looked into the closet.
"Wait...where's the janitor?" Izabella questioned as they took note of the small closet, where could that guy possibly be but in sight.
"Aye grandpa! You in here?" Geleel questioned as the three then walked in to the closet.
Izabella then decided to turn the light on, unfortunately, when the door automatically slammed shut they all gasped and turned to now locked door.
"Uh-oh." Barrett said with a wary expression.
"Uh guys..." Geleel trailed off as the other two turned to him and gasped.
Before them was some sort of blue mystical field that had appeared where the mirror for the closet once was.
"What is happening right now..." Izabella trailed off as Geleel walked up to the magic field.
Something about was just reeling him...he touched the field with his hand as could feel that his fingers went right through it.
"Woah." Was all Geleel could muster as they all stared in awe.
"Welcome." A feminine yet firm voice stated as they all snapped to it.
They then looked to notice the woman's silhouette moving behind the field.
"I am glad you found your way here." The woman informed them.
They were skeptical of this, everything was still seemingly too crazy to me true.
"Please...come in..." The woman ushered them in as they all looked at eachother.
If they went in...there was probably no going back, but after everything that transpired today...was it really a good idea to blindly walk into the field? They needed to be careful...
