Highschool of Olympus
A deep breath...something everyone used to prepare themselves for any obstacle they were about to face.
Izabella walked up to the balcony that was above the gym as she peered down to notice Geleel, who was being trained by a lean-built and brunette God she had learned to be known as Jason, a fierce warrior very akin to the late Achilles himself.
She smirked to herself as she watched Geleel prepare to run an obstacle course that Jason had set up to test his maneuverability and athletic abilities.
"When I give the signal, go." Jason ordered Geleel who nodded and drew in a large breath.
His heart pounded against his chest as Herra's words continued to ring in his mind...it had been about a week since they had learned of their destiny...and since he had accepted said destiny.
Herra was ecstatic to learn that even though the children were bested by Cronus...Geleel had atleast found the spark that was necessary for fulfilling his destiny.
The boy was serious about it now...he didn't want to let everyone down.
"Go!" Jason shouted as Geleel immediately sprung forward and jumped over an impromptu hurdle.
Izabella watched with a smile plastered on her face as the dreadhead rounded onto the track.
Geleel was then forced to jump, roll and dive under an array of lazers that were shot at him from the wall, he had to be careful for messing up on this course would be fatal.
He intended to continue training harder and harder until he felt he was ready to actually defeat Cronus.
As Geleel ran the track he then stopped as a red triangle illuminated around his feet.
Three training dummies then appeared, each equipped with numerous ruts and a spiked ball hanging from the ruts.
Geleel's eyes narrowed as he got into a more defensive stance.
Izabella was now more invested as she watched Geleel begin evading the dummies and striking them with well placed kicks and punches.
With one last swing, Geleel takes down the last dummy and stops to take in a few breaths...the course had come to an end.
He then walked over to Jason who was staring at a stopwatch with an unreadable expression.
"Well?" Geleel questioned him expectantly.
"I've seen better..." Jason trailed off as Geleel arched a brow.
"Bull, who did better than that?" Geleel questioned as Jason chuckled at him.
"Me! And your predecessor Achilles did better than you too." Jason answered as he walked passed Geleel who glared at his back.
"Ya know, for some reason I don't believe that." Geleel called out as Jason stopped and sighed.
"Yea you're definitely Achilles' descendant." Jason stated flatly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Geleel questioned him.
"When Achilles was much younger, about your age actually, he often let his anger and issues with trust cloud his judgment, he later felt the effects of his insolence to be very pending...don't make that same mistake, Geleel." Jason stated dismissively before walking over to a weapon box.
Geleel sighed to himself before kicking a stray disc away from his feet.
Ever since he's gotten here all he's heard was how much ignorance he inherited from Achilles, would it kill someone to say something about his good qualities?
"But anyways." Jason began as Geleel turned to notice him returning over to him with some sort of device in hand.
"For your performance today you've earned this." Jason stated as he handed Geleel the device, to which the latter clicked the button that was at the bottom.
When he clicked the button a thin metallic line sprung out of the device, it had a grappling hook at the end of it.
"What am I supposed to do with this? Walk a dog?" Geleel questioned Jason who deadpanned at him.
"It's a Hesphaestus whip." Jason clarified.
"Hesphaestus? Isn't that Barrett's ancestor?" Geleel questioned as Jason nodded.
"That he is, but this whip was designed by Hesphaestus for Achilles in the Trojan War." Jason explained as Geleel swung the whip a few times at one of the dummies to test out the swing on it.
"It's made from the thinnest metal ever forged, it slices, dices, and..." Jason trailed off as the dummy fell to the ground...completely sliced into three pieces.
"It will cut through anything." Jason stated as he smirker at Geleel.
The dreadhead smiled at the device as he drew the line back in.
"Okay, maybe this dog leash isn't that bad." Geleel stated as he followed after Jason.
Izabella was still watching from the balcony in awe.
She saw the whip in action and immediately decided that she needed one.
"If I don't get one of those for Christmas I'm throwing every gift away." She stated firmly to herself.
Izabella then leaped down to the gym area to go greet Geleel.
"Hey G!" She shouted as he almost jumped at her presence.
Jason had left the gym so Geleel thought he was alone.
"Hey Izzy, wassup?" Geleel questioned her.
"Nothing, that training sesh was awesome by the way, not bad for Mr. Powerless, aye?" She questioned him as he shook his head.
"Haha laugh it up, but why were you here anyways?" Geleel questioned her as she took the Hesphaestus whip out of his hand and twirled it.
"Because Herra wants us to meet her in the lounge, said it's very important." She answered him as he nodded and put his bag on his back.
"Okay let's get going then." Geleel said as they began walking to the exit.
"Oh by the way, do you know where Barrett is? She asked for him too but I couldn't find him anywhere on campus." Izabella explained as Geleel clicked his tongue.
"B said he left to go visit his grandma, she's upstate, he's the only one that drives out of all of us so there's no shock he made that trip." Geleel said with a shrug as Izabella chuckled at that.
Guess they'd have to go meet Herra without Barrett.
Barrett
Barrett had parked the black RAM truck the school let him use outside of his grandmother's house.
He had already made himself known so that he wouldn't spook the woman.
"Grandma?" He questioned her as the old lady leisurely walked up to him.
"Oh my...Barrett is that you? You've grown into quite the strong young man." She stated as she pulled at his cheeks much to the latter's dismay.
"Okay grandma I just got here, easy on the cheeks." He stated with a chuckle.
"It's great to see you gran-gran." He stated as he helped her walk over to her rocking chair.
He then stood before her as she sat in the chair.
After about 5 minutes had passed the woman complained that she was getting cold.
"Oh! Barrett...wouldn't you be a dear and bring my chair a little closer to the stove?" The elderly woman questioned Barrett as she gestured to the...furnace.
Barrett arched a brow before shaking his head, he had to remember how old she was.
"Uh, sure thing gran...do you want to get up or..." He trailed off as the woman made no effort to do so.
"Of Course you don't, okay up you go." Barrett stated as he carefully lifted the chair with her still seated inside and brought her over to the furnace.
"Thanks dear, you're too sweet." Granny thanked Barrett as he smiled at her thanks.
Then another 5 minutes passed...Barrett was in the process of fixing some food.
He was trying to focus and create a pair of butcher knives.
"Barrett!!!" His grandmother shouted as he jumped and accidentally created two plastic knives.
"Seriously?" He questioned rhetorically to no one.
"On second thought dear, I think I liked it better where I was! Would you be a dear and come move me back?" His grandma questioned him as he sighed and walked back into the living room.
"This is going to be a long day." He said to himself.
Highschool of Olympus
Geleel and Izabella had arrived to the door that led to the lounge.
Herra was waiting for them right outside of it.
"Come in, children." Herra stated as they walked in.
They then noticed three teens sitting in the lounge, all around their age.
"I would like you both to meet Kayla Watkins, the descendant of Aphrodite." Herra stated as she directed their attention to the curly haired girl sitting in the middle of the room.
"Sup." Kayla said to them with a head nod.
"Then we have Karina Ayala, the descendant of Apollo." Herra then directed their attention to the relatively radiant brunette girl sitting adjacent to Kayla.
"Hi." She stated with a wave.
"And last we have-" The brown haired boy that was in the room cuts Herra off and walks up to Izabella.
"Kai Oubre, descendant of Narcissus, the sexiest man on this planet, at your service." He stated as he grabbed the girl's hand and gave it a kiss much to her dismay and confusion.
Everyone watched the scene unfold before them in utter disparagement.
"Kai, have a seat, we talked about this." Herra stated as Kai sighed then walked back to his seat.
"These are your final team members that are destined to stop Cronus, you 6 must become acquainted- wait...where is Barrett?" Herra questioned Geleel and Izabella.
"He is at his grandmother's house; probably playing bingo." Geleel stated with a shrug.
"Very well then, he will acquaint himself later, for now, you 5 must learn to coexist and come together as one team if you hope to have any chance against Cronus, do you understand?" Herra questioned them as they all nodded in understanding.
"I just don't get one thing, how do you know we're even ready yet Miss?" Karina questioned Herra.
"It is a very simple answer my dear." Herra began as they intently listened to her.
"You have to be ready." Herra answered firmly before walking over to a room.
"Wow." Izabella said, what a informing answer that was.
"So...you guys ready to save the world?" Geleel questioned as he scratched the back of his head.
"Totally." Kayla said in a flat tone as she held her hands behind her head.
"So, what can you guys do?" Izabella questioned them.
"I draw all of my power from the sun, it's the perks of being a descendant of Apollo." Karina said with a bright smile.
"Awesome." Izabella said as she sat next to Karina.
"What about you?" Geleel questioned Kai who scoffed.
"Can't you tell? I mean, looking this good has to be a power in itself." Kai said vainly.
He then recanted when everyone was seemingly unimpressed.
"I...I'm also super smart with technology, and helped Hermes with his computer issues." Kai admitted as Geleel chuckled and shook his head; the dude was vain but he was smart and funny, so that was good.
"And you, Kayla?" Geleel questioned her as she yawned, she definitely seemed to be the most laid back out of the group.
"My connection to Aphrodite as the goddess of love grants me the ability to control others who are weakminded or lack the necessary understanding of love itself." Kayla answered as Geleel blanched at that, he didn't expect her to actually give a full explanation.
"That sounds so cool." Izabella stated from her seat next to Karina who nodded.
"I think Kayla has the best powers so far." Karina said as she clasped her hands together.
"Pssh! That's because they aren't real! You can't control people." Kai said as he crossed his arms at her.
Kayla rolled her eyes with another yawn before she then locked eyes with Kai, the others took note of how her once brown eyes had began glowing in an array of pink and purple light.
Kai's eyes mirrored this as he instantly lost control of his body.
"There's no way this is really happening." Geleel said in utter disbelief as he along with the other two girls watched Kayla's display of power in awe.
"I am your new creator, I harbor all of the love in this universe...hand me your wallet." Kayla stated monotonously as Kai complied and handed her his wallet.
"Bow." She then stated as he immediately did just that.
"Kayla." Everyone, minus Kai who was still under Kayla's control turned to Herra's voice as she had re-entered the room.
"Fine, fine, I was just trying to show them my powers ma'am." Kayla said as she snapped her fingers and Kai was finally out of her control.
"What the hell? How did I get over here?" Kai questioned as he stood up immediately with a confused daze in his eyes.
"Where's my wallet?" He then questioned as he felt his body for the item, the others couldn't help but laugh at his expense.
"Must've fell." Kayla stated in a monotone as she threw it to him.
He caught it and sent a glare her way.
"Anyways, it's time you guys actually spend your first day together, Hermes-" Herra cuts herself off as the God Hermes himself burst through the door frantically.
"You called Mrs. Herra?" He questioned almost desperately as Herra sighed and facepalmed.
"No, must you burst into a room everytime I say your name?" Herra questioned as the kids all chuckled at Hermes' sheepish expression.
"Sorry, when the Queen of the Olympians says your name...what are you supposed to do?" Hermes questioned her.
"Well, he makes a valid point." Geleel stated with a shrug as Herra shook her head at the two.
"Anyways, I'm glad you're here actually Hermes." Herra stated as Hermes lit up.
"Really?" He shouted, this was a first.
"Yes, you will be Kai's mentor." Herra revealed as Kai arched a brow at the God who was hovering before him.
"Seriously, him?" Kai and Hermes stated simultaneously as they gestured to eachother.
"Enough." Herra stated dismissively.
"Anyways, Geleel, Izabella." Herra called out as the two turned their attention to her.
"Show your new teammates to the apartment please." She then stated as Geleel nodded.
"Come on guys." Izabella stated as they all got up and prepared to leave the school.
Apartment
The group sat in the living room as the three new tenants explored their new surroundings, it was now night time so the lights were on.
Kai was busy on his computer as Karina and Kayla were inspecting some of the house's decor.
"Well...this is cozy." Kayla stated with an arched brow, she was examining a picture or Artemis with a slain bison under her foot.
"This day has been so crazy." Karina said with a shake of her head.
"Why's that?" Geleel questioned her.
"Well...it started off as a normal walk...then turned into me being carried away from some kind of demon terrorbird...and saved by Hermes and a griffin named Andrea." She explained as the dreadhead then smiled at Izabella.
"Sounds like a familiar story." Izabella stated with a chuckle.
"I take it you two got here in similar ways." Geleel stated as he gestured to Kayla and Kai who nodded.
"Hm, I wonder how Cronus got control of that creature that Karina just described, I thought he only had the giants and the Typhoeus." Geleel said as he looked out of the window in thought.
"Cronus? Giants?" Karina questioned him as he nodded at her.
"Yup, he sounds much more annoying than he is in person by the way." Izabella revealed with a chuckle.
"So, Cronus knows who all of us are, and the team, minus Barrett ofcourse, is all here, I wonder if this is how the prophecy is supposed to play out." Geleel said as he walked back to the table.
"Herra told us all about Cronus." Kayla began as Kai nodded.
"Yea, sounds like he has serious control issues." Kai stated with an eyeroll.
"Uh, can we get back to that bit about the giants and the Typhoeus? Whatever that is..." Karina trailed off before sitting down.
"It's a flying fire-breathing giant with snakes for legs." Izabella stated calmly as the others, minus Geleel, stared at her in disbelief, not at the distraction, but at her tone.
She along with Geleel and Barrett had already been desensitized in the week they learned of this destiny, the others still had to get used to it.
"Anyways, you girls want a FULL tour of the apartment?" Izabella questioned Kayla and Karina who nodded and stood up to follow her.
"Sounds good to me." Kayla stated as she stuck her hands into her pocket and followed after Izabella.
Kai started laughing hysterically as he nudged Geleel, much to the dismay of the latter.
"Giant fire-breathing beast? Yea right, she was kidding, right?" Kai questioned as he continued laughing.
He then stopped laughing as he noticed how serious Geleel's face was.
"Right...?" He questioned again.
"No, the Typhoeus is very much real, it could've destroyed New York in a matter of minutes but...Cronus had other plans for it, and I want to know what those plans were." Geleel revealed as Kai immediately began panicking.
"You gotta be kiddin me." He said with a shake of his head.
Outside
Izabella had finished giving the girls a tour of the apartment, so she felt it was good to show them the back of the apartment, and give them some fresh air ofcourse.
"Okay, so the dream ends today right? Like even with all that I've learned I still can't believe this is happening." Karina stated as they stood outside.
"Oh trust me, this is real, I learned that when I was actually face to face with Cronus, the dude's a monster." Izabella revealed to her new friends.
"Sounds charming, can't wait to meet him." Kayla stated satirically as Izabella shook her head with a smile, she liked Kayla's personality a lot.
"So, what's the deal with you and that Geleel dude? You guys date or something?" Kayla then questioned as Izabella immediately tensed.
"What? No, we're just friends, besides we've only known eachother for a week-" Izabella is cutoff as Kayla raises a halting hand.
"I'm just messing around with you, chillll." Kayla drew out as Izabella deflated a bit.
"Aww, that was kind of cute." Karina said with a bright smile.
"No it was not." Izabella corrected her.
"Anyways, I'm getting kinda cravey, where can we get something to eat?" Kayla questioned Izabella.
"There's a deli down the block from here, yall wanna go?" She questioned them.
"Definitely, I could go for some candy right now." Karina said as they prepared to leave.
"Perfect, lead the way Izzy." Kayla said as she zipped her hoodie up and they began walking to the deli.
Back Inside
Geleel sat across from Kai, he was still in deep thought, Cronus was not only evil...but the dude was straight up confusing.
Suddenly the door clicks open as he turned to notice Barrett walking into the apartment.
"Barrett? You good?" Geleel questioned as he noticed how exhausted the guy looked.
"Jusy peachy." Barrett answered.
"Oh, Barrett this is Kai, Kai this is Barrett." Geleel introduced them.
"Wassup man?" Barrett questioned Kai who stood up with a smirk.
"My ego, what about you?" Kai questioned jokingly as the two shook hands.
Geleel facepalmed as he realized the type of dynamic these two would soon have.
"What were you guys talking about?" Barrett questions Geleel.
"Kai was just trying to figure out why we can't locate something as big as the Typhoeus is." Geleel relayed to Barrett.
"I mean, not to be rude but something as wicked as this beast would stand out in this city." Kai said with a shrug.
"We'll find that thing don't worry, and Cronus, we didn't exactly get a chance to ask them where there evil hideout was when we were trying to ya know, escape with our lives." Geleel explained to Kai.
"Sounds pretty simple, right little guy?" Barrett questions Kai who fumed.
"Little guy?" He questioned as the much larger teen chuckled at him before turning the TV on.
The news was playing, which caused Barrett to scowl.
"Lemme change this shit." Barrett stated as he was about to change the channel.
"Hey woah now! Lemme hear this." Geleel stated as he snatched the remote much to the dismay of Barrett who was now forced to listen to the news report.
"And while electrical crews try to find out why over half the city's power has been taken out, there's one man that has his own SHOCKING theory." The news reporter began before a video was played of a construction worker with a crazed look in his eyes being interviewed.
"It...it came out of nowhere! A huge flying demon! Shooting fire everywhere! It damn near killed me and destroyed the entire plant!" The man shouted as this news caused the three boys in the room to gasp in shock.
That had to be the Typhoeus...no if ands or buts about it.
The door clicks again to reveal the girls who had made it home from the store, all with individual bags of their own.
"What's wrong with you boys?" Izabella questioned them.
Before anything else could be stated the room went pitch black causing everyone to gasp in shock.
"Oh no..." Geleel stated...he was sure he knew who to blame for this.
"Wait guys don't panic...let me try something." Karina stated as she began concentrating in the dark.
After a few short seconds, both of her hands flickered for a bit, before finally surging into two bright yellow lights that were engulfing her palms.
"Good thinking Karina." Geleel congratulated her.
"Get off me!" Barrett shouted as he shoved Kai off of him, the latter had latched himself on to the former when the lights went out.
Everyone then congregated around Karina as they began trying to pinpoint an issue here.
"Does anyone have any idea what the hell this is about?" Kayla questioned the group.
"G?" Izabella questioned him as he shut his eyes and drew in a breath.
"I just know Cronus has something to do with this...come on guys, we gotta go to the school and ask the Gods what to do next." Geleel stated as they all congrued upon that order.
The only way to get to the bottom of this would be consulting their mentors and Herra.
Morning
The group all stood in the basement as it was only being powered by a backup power source only the God's had access too.
They had spoken to Herra late last night, she offered no direct answer to the issue at hand because she too wasn't fully sure what it was that caused the abrupt power outage, but she knew just as much as them that Cronus more than likely played a hand in it.
Geleel made sure the team was down there bright and early so they could speak to Jason, who was standing before them and taking out a weapon rack.
"Woah." Was all Izabella could say as they all stared in awe at the numerous weapons.
Bolas, mases, nun-chucks, bo staffs, swords, axes and bows galore.
"Hey, how come you guys have power in here?" Kai questioned Jason who chuckled.
"I guess you could say this area isn't exactly on the city's…grid." He stated with a smirk.
Geleel was the first to pick up a weapon as he immediately locked his hand around the black hilt of the Ancient Greek blade, it caught his eyes from the second the weapons were brought out.
The dreadhead examined the sword, from its sharp tipped blade all the way to its blunt handle as he gave it a few practice swings, he had definitely found his weapon of choice.
Kayla had picked up a bo staff as she twirled it around swiftly and let it glide across her body before doing a few practice swings and attacks.
"This is gonna be perfect." She stated as she smiled at the staff.
Karina picked up two nun-chakus as she swung them around, she definitely had practice with these weapons before as the golden nun-chucks spun in her hands so swiftly.
"So, all of these weapons are at our disposal?" Izabella questioned Jason as she placed a bow and arrow onto her back and put two dual daggers into her waist band.
"Yes my child, you will need something to face off against Cronus and put the city's power back on, your fists are not yet hardened enough to go into battle without weapons." Jason said with a chuckle.
"Hmmm, nothing here is really capturing my eyes." Kai stated as he scanned the rack.
"Dude you should just pick something already before Ms. Herra gets here." Barrett stated before crossing his arms.
"I don't see you with any weapons in YOUR hands, big man?" Kai questioned Barrett who only smirked in response.
"Oh really?" Barrett questioned as he use his powers to phase a large hammer into existence, much to Kai's shock.
"I stand corrected." Kai stated with a deadpan.
"Woah Karina, where'd you learn to use nun-chucks?" Izabella questioned Apollo's descendant.
"Wellll, I was kinda a blackbelt when I was 14." Karina stated as she tucked the weapon into her arm.
"Badass." Izabella said as she drew Karina in for a half hug.
"Kai, are you going to pick a weapon?" Jason questioned the brunette.
"Uh, on second thought, I don't think I really need one of those, besides, Hermes already gave me a powerful weapon, a satellite connection that actually WORKS." Kai stated eagerly as he typed away on his computer.
"Very well then." Jason stated before putting the weapon rack away.
"So Jason, how do you suppose we can beat the Typhoeus?" Barrett questions the God.
"Simple, strike it with lightning bolts and then drop a mountain on top of it." Jason answered coolly as if that was just a regular run of the mill task.
"Yea I think we have different ideas of simple, don't know if you noticed but none of us really have a surplus of lightning bolts sitting around." Geleel stated as he sheathed his new sword in the holster that was now sashed across his back.
"Well that's how Zeus defeated it, you kids may have to think of another way it appears." Jason stated as the teens began congregating again.
"Yea, no kidding." Kayla stated with a head shake.
"Okay guys, it seems like the electricity is out along the whole seaboard." Kai revealed as he showed them his computer's data.
"All the power is being transmitted to that electrical plant where the Typhoeus was last spotted…" He then added as Geleel hummed.
"Seems kinda convenient, doesn't it?" Izabella questioned the leader.
"That's definitely first on our investigation list." Barrett stated as he crossed his arms.
"If the Typhoeus is there; Cronus must be too, let's go, Barrett." Geleel called the brawn's name as the latter nodded.
"We'll take my truck." He stated as he branded his keys to show to them.
Night
It was now night time as the group rode in Barrett's truck, they were getting close to the plant.
Barrett naturally was in the driver's seat, next to him was Izabella in the middle seat and Geleel was in the passenger seat next to her.
In the back Kai was on the right looking at his computer, Karina was in the middle and Kayla was on the left.
"This truck is actually more spacious than I thought." Kayla said with a shrug.
"Woah! Stop the truck B." Geleel stated as Barrett did just that.
The entire group gasped as they noticed why Geleel ordered Barrett to stop, there was a destroyed forklift on the side of the road, only a few clicks away from the plant.
"It looks like whoever was driving the truck got out of there in time." Karina deducted from the opened doors and lack of dead bodies.
"The doors are open, they probably escaped and ran into the forest." Kayla added on.
"Typhoeus burns…" Geleel trailed off as he noticed the scorch marks on the ground, he could never forget them even though he'd only been face to face with the monster one time…they were etched into his brain.
"Keep going Barrett." Izabella stated as Barrett nodded and began driving along a little more carefully this time.
"Shouldn't we try and find those civilians?" Karina questioned her leader.
"We don't have time, we have to find Cronus and that Typhoeus if we hope to save ANY and EVERY civilian in this city." Geleel stated as Barrett stopped the truck right as they passed the plant.
They all then got out of the truck as Geleel looked back to the plant.
"It would be better if we split up, Barrett, Izzy, Kai, you guys check the dam, Karina, Kayla and I will check out this area." Geleel stated firmly as the group nodded.
"These PMRS'll keep us connected." Kai said as he handed everyone some small yellow devices that looked to be walkie talkies with screens on them.
"PMRS? In 2024?" Barrett questions him.
"Yea, you try using your phone when all cellular connection is down, genius." Kai stated as Barrett rolled his eyes at him.
"Okay guys, let's focus up." Geleel stated as he swiftly unsheathed his sword.
Kayla drew her bo staff as Karina twirled her nun-chuck out.
"You guys ready?" Izabella questioned the group.
"To battle a giant monster and save the world from a titanous God?" Kayla questioned her.
"Yup!" She replied eagerly.
"Alright then guys, let's do this." Geleel stated as they split off to search their respective areas.
Team Geleel
They walked along the lake as they searched the area for any signs of Cronus or the Typhoeus.
"I understand Barrett, Izabella and you two being part of this destiny but…how the hell is Kai here?" Kayla questioned out of nowhere.
"Hey, that's kindof harsh." Karina stated as Kayla shrugged.
"I call it how I see it." Was her cryptic response.
"Have you ever heard of Narcissus, Kayla? He may have been the most vain God to grace the universe, but he was once revered as the smartest one too…" Geleel revealed to her as she thought that over, she had to admit, Kai seemed pretty smart when it came to technology and things of that nature.
"How do you know all this stuff? Are you Greek?" Karina questioned Geleel.
"Uhh no, I read a lot of classical poetry or something, anyways the point is, we're all on this team for a reason, we serve a purpose in different ways." Geleel stated as they continued walking.
"Well-woah!" Kayla exclaimed as they all jumped at the realization that a fireball was coming right there way.
All three teens jumped and rolled out of the way of the fiery attack.
"And there goes the Typhoeus." Geleel stated as he helped Karina to her feet.
"You guys good?" He questioned them as they nodded.
"As good as I can be right now." Kayla stated as she cracked her neck.
"Well, I hope your ready for this cause here comes ugly." Geleel said as he swiftly drew his sword.
The Typhoeus now flew directly in front of them as it roared menacingly.
They all clutched their weapons and stood in defensive stances.
The Typhoeus' serpentine leg swooped at Geleel who hit it away with his sword.
The other leg swooped down at Kayla who stopped it with her bo staff.
The creature then reached down with his hand, and grabbed the bo staff, eliciting a grunt from Kayla.
"Kayla!" Karina shouted as the creature flung her newfound friend into the lake.
Kayla grunted as her body hit the ice cold water.
The curly haired girl stayed under the water until she was sure the Typhoeus was unaware of her survival.
She swiftly resurfaced as she took note of the Typhoeus taking off, roaring loudly as Geleel and Karina hid behind a bolder.
"Kai!" Geleel shouted into his PMR as Kayla came back to shore and ran up to them.
"Are you alright?" Karina questioned her as Kayla coughed out the last bit of water and took a knee.
"Well that was one way to start my first battle." Kayla said with a dry chuckle.
"Kai!" Geleel shouted once more as he finally got a beep in response.
"Lemme guess, a disgusting demon looking creature straight from the pits of the underworld is headed our way, right?" Kai questioned him.
Well…he wasn't particularly wrong was he?
"Well…you technically aren't incorrect." Geleel stated monotonously into the PMR as the three watched the Typhoeus fly towards the dam.
Team Izabella
Barrett, Izabella and Kai all stared up in utter shock as the Typhoeus sped towards them, it seemed poised to destroy them for good.
"Run!" Barrett shouted as they all turned and did just that.
"Best idea you had all day!" Kai shouted back.
"Guys look out!" Izabella shouted as they were all forced to leap and dodge out of the way of one of the Typhoeus' fireballs.
"Well looks like someone forgot what brushing their teeth meant, that breath is HOT." Kai stated as they all stood up from the ground and watched as the Typhoeus flew over them.
"So what's the plan here Izzy?" Barrett questions her as the Typhoeus begins flying towards them again.
"Well…right now we should definitely run!" She shouted as both her and Barrett turned to run away from another incoming fireball.
Unfortunately Kai didn't realize it coming, fortunately it didn't hit him, but unfortunately the impact caused him to go flying over the dam's rails and into the icy waters below with a loud cry.
"Kai!" Barrett shouted as they noticed what happened to their new team member.
"No!" Izabella shouted as she watched the water's powerful currents thrash Kai around and swiftly drag him away from the dam, all the while he cried out for help.
However they couldn't do anything with a Typhoeus breathing down their neck…
Barrett irately stared at the creature's ghastly legs as he summoned two battle axes and swung at them.
"B! We gotta shake this thing! Get back to the truck!" Izabella shouted as they evaded the Typhoeus' attacks and began making a beeline for the truck.
"Hurry up!" She shouted as her super speed allowed her to get to the truck way ahead of Barrett.
"Not all of us have super speed!" He shouted back.
"Just get in!" Izabella shouted as he finally arrived at the truck.
"Where's Kai?" Geleel questioned them as he along with Karina and Kayla arrived to the truck shortly after.
"We'll explain on the move! We have to get going or we're gonna be flame broiled!" Barrett shouted as they all took note of the Typhoeus steadily approaching.
With no further room for debate they all loaded into the truck.
As soon as Barrett turned the key in the ignition he began speeding off.
The Typhoeus immediately began giving chase as Barrett was forced to swerve and avoid the array of fireballs it shot at them.
"Keep this thing steady! One mess up and we're cooked." Kayla said as she and Karina looked back to notice that the Typhoeus had no intention of giving up.
"Guys, what happened to Kai?" Geleel questioned Izabella and Barrett.
"He went over the dam…" Izabella revealed as the others who were not there gasped in shock.
Even Kayla, she still had yet to warm up to the guy but sympathy was in human nature.
"This isn't right…Kai…" Karina trailed off as the truck sped up even more, the Typhoeus was now a good distance behind them.
"Why didn't you guys try to save him?" Kayla questioned them.
"There was nothing we could do at the moment!" Barrett shouted irately, he wasn't particularly mad at her…he was just mad they lost Kai like that.
A few short moments of silence had befallen the group.
"Did we lose that thing?" Karina questioned, breaking the silence.
"No we didn't…it just stopped giving chase for some reason." Geleel answered, but he seemed extremely dejected…and rightfully so.
'My first mission as a leader…and I already lost a member…' Was the only thought running through his mind right now, how could he be their leader if he couldn't ensure all of them were safe?
"The Typhoeus has to be guarding something back there if it stopped chasing us this far." Kayla deducted as everyone seemingly agreed with that.
Geleel then gained a determined look as he lightly pounded his own leg.
"Barrett…turn this truck around, we're going back; now." Geleel states with no room for discussion as they all offered him confused gazes.
"Are you insane?" Kayla questioned him.
"But Geleel, we can't beat that monster, we don't even know how to properly use our powers yet!" Karina exclaimed.
"It doesn't matter, we have to save Kai, I'm not leaving him behind, not now, not ever, turn the truck around." Geleel said as Barrett sighed before complying.
They had begun speeding back to the dam now, no one was sure of what the plan was when they got there…not even Geleel himself.
Kai
Kai had lost track of how long he was fighting for his life in that water…
He couldn't swim for the life of it, and it was painfully evident as he coughed and gasped and desperately tried to stay above the water.
Fortunately, he noticed he was coming up on the riverbank.
He immediately bucked his body towards the bank as he practically rolled onto land.
Kai coughed up any water that was stuck in his body as he gasped to regain some air.
He then plopped flat on his back as he stared up at the star filled sky and drew in some deep ragged breaths.
"This destiny stuff is really starting to blow." Kai stated before weakly getting up and running a hand through his now soaked hair.
Realization then hit as he searched his pocket and immediately found his PMR, luckily it wasn't lost.
Fortunately it still worked, so much for just an old janky walkie talkie, as Barrett elegantly referred to it earlier.
"Hello! Geleel! Anybody?" He called into the PMR as it instantly beeped.
"Kai! Are you good? Where are you?" Geleel questioned him back.
"I'm good…I'm just on the other end of the river and-" Kai cuts himself off with a gasp as his gaze was set on a cliff that was about 500 yards from…there was Cronus in all his evil glory standing next to some sort of red and black laser beam device.
"What's wrong Kai? Why did you gasp?" Geleel questioned him.
"Maybe I'm mistaking him for someone else but I'm pretty sure I'm staring at Cronus right now…" Kai trailed off.
"Are you being serious right now?" This time it was Izabella who shouted.
"You tell me." Kai stated as he put the PMR's camera on and focused it onto Cronus and his unknown device.
The others all gasped over the PMR as there was no mistaking that evil smirk and crimson red gaze; but why was Cronus staring at the sky? And what was that device about?
"What is that device? It looks like some sort of laser." Karina assumed.
"That's exactly what it is, and it's the biggest laser I've ever seen, this must be why Cronus needs all that power." Kai deducted.
"Now it all makes sense…Kai! Stay right there, we'll come get you." Geleel declared.
"Hurry it up too! I'm cold…" Kai said as the PMR link cut out.
Geleel
The group minus Kai ofcourse were still in the truck as they drove over the dam.
"Guys, we have to stop Cronus first and then go get Kai." Geleel informed them.
"Geleel, there's only one way to get to the other end of the dam from here-" Karina is cut off by Barrett's gasp.
"And don't look now but there's a little something in our way…" Barrett trailed off as they noticed the Typhoeus flying right ahead of them, doing its signature screech.
"Ya know…maybe you guys were right, Barrett, let's run away." Geleel stated as he smirked at Barrett who returned it.
The brawn then floored it and sped right towards the beast ahead of them.
"Um, did we miss something?" Kayla questioned the other girls as the truck and the Typhoeus began nearing each other.
The Typhoes shot a stream of fire down in front of them; but the beast was caught off guard when Barrett drove right through it and then sped through its legs.
"And…that worked." Izabella stated in utter disbelief as Geleel chuckled and fist bumped Barrett.
"So, you wanna fight the Typhoeus with me, Izzy?" Kayla questioned her as she arched a brow at the girl, looks like someone wanted a rematch after what happened last time.
"Ya know, that's somehow the least craziest thing I've heard all night, let's do this." Izabella stated as Barrett stopped thr truck.
"Okay girls, you guys can distract the Typhoeus while we go confront Cronus, be careful." Geleel stated as they nodded and exited the truck.
They then watched as the RAM drove off.
The Typhoeus' roar drew their attention as their heads snapped towards it.
Izabella got into a fighting stance and Kayla drew out her bo staff.
"I don't suppose you have an actual plan to stop this thing, do you?" Izabella questioned her.
"It's in the cooking up stage right now…" Kayla trailed off as the Typhoeus neared.
"But for now we should definitely run!" Kayla shouted as they leaped out of the way of a fireball.
They landed next to a large electrical wire as an idea now began forming in Izabella's head.
The two girls stood up as the Typhoeus hovered over the electrical line and roared irately…there was no room for error now.
The Typhoeus shot its legs out towards Kayla who swiftly jumped and evaded them whilst also striking at them with her staff calculatively.
"Not gonna be as easy as last time, big guy." She taunted it as it roared.
"Jason was wrong." Izabella stated as she drew in a deep breath.
"What do you mean?" Kayla questioned Izabella as she fought against the serpentine legs.
"We don't have lightning bolts…but we do have electricity right here…" Izabella stated as she drew her bow and began lining up a shot at the electrical line, one of the Typhoeus' legs was laying on top of it.
Everything slowed down for Izabella in that moment…Kayla fighting the legs, slower, the Typhoeus' wings beating, slower, it's irate turns, slower.
"Killshot." She stated flatly before letting the arrow go.
As it flew through the air everything began moving at its original pace, upon contact with the electrical line a surge of electricity exploded and coursed through the Typhoeus immediately, a sharp cry of pain escaping the beast as it was blasted back all the way over a cliff, collapsing into the water below.
Kayla smirked at that, it seemed the Typhoeus had gotten karma for what it did to her before.
"Sweet shot." Kayla said as she high fived Izabella.
"Thanks, now let's go help the others." The huntress declared as they began running to do just that.
Geleel
Barrett's truck screeches onto the scene of Cronus and his giants as they were all surrounding the giant laser.
"Cronus!" Geleel shouted as the team exited the truck, Cronus immediately turned to his name being shouted as his giant goons growled at their assailants.
Geleel drew his sword, Karina twirled her nun-chucks and Barrett summoned his hammer.
"Who's up first for a beat down, huh?" Barrett questioned as he swung the hammer at the green giant, effectively sending the oaf off of the cliff.
Geleel was forced to dodge two attacks by the yellow and blue giants.
He then swung his sword at the blue giant and reeled the yellow one in with the Hesphaestus whip, this allowed him to use the beasts' momentum and send him tackling his partner off of the cliff as well.
Karina seemingly glided across the floor as a white giant tried relentlessly to smash her head in.
When he slipped up and let his guard down she swiftly leaped and delivered a powerful kick to his face, she then used the nun-chuck to render him unconscious.
"Okay Cronus, what's the deal with the big laser?" Geleel questioned as he jutted at Cronus with his sword.
"Yea, yea, just a second Geleel I'll be right with you." Cronus stated flatly as he pressed a few buttons on the laser's modem.
Before Geleel could say anything he was forced to evade a surprise attack from a random red giant who had arrived onto the scene.
"Stay down!" Barrett shouted as he slammed his hammer onto that giant's head.
Geleel silently thanked Barrett for the save before frowning at Cronus.
The dreadhead then ran up and lunged at Cronus, his sword raised above his head poised to slice down at the titan.
Cronus didn't even turn away from the laser's modem, he simply raised his gold sickle up behind him to parry Geleel's attack as a loud clang was all that was heard.
Geleel gave Cronus' back the most irate glare as their weapons clashed.
"Oh come now my boy, don't be so pushy…besides…you are already too late." Cronus stated before shoving Geleel back with his sheer strength alone, Karina and Barrett catch their leader as he falls back.
They then look to see Cronus hit the final button on the modem.
After a short power up sequence, a giant red beam shot forth from the machine, right into space, the laser was big enough for anyone on Earth to notice it.
The beam traveled right through the Earth's atmosphere and into space where it collided with some sort of mystical asteroid, destroying the rock in the process.
The laser finally powered down as everyone looked up to notice what the result of the asteroid's destruction had caused.
Some sort of shiny blue light now shone upon Earth…it didn't look to be impending or dangerous but, if Cronus was happy about it something was definitely to come.
"Isn't it beautiful children?" He questioned them as they glared at them.
"What the hell is that stuff?" Barrett questioned irately as Cronus started laughing mockingly at them.
"Answer us!" Geleel shouted as he placed the tip of his blade just mere inches away from Cronus' neck, the titan was not phased by this as he deadpanned at the weapon.
"Put this toy away please, I'm the least of your worries right now." Cronus said as he gently pushed Geleel's sword away.
He was right…with whatever this thing was shining over the world…figuring that out would need to be their top priority.
"As always, a pleasure to face off against you kids, but it is time I take my leave." Cronus said with a sickening smirk before he disappeared into thin air…his evil laugh could still be heard.
Geleel stood at the edge of the cliff as he stared up at the sky in disbelief…how could their first mission have gone this bad.
"Geleel…what do we do now?" Karina questioned him.
"I…I don't know." He answered shakily as he hung his sword low to the ground.
What could they possibly hope to do now? Cronus was gone and they had no way of knowing what this strange light was shining over Earth for.
Morning
The team all stood at the top of the apartment as they were happy to have the power in the city back on.
All except one of course, Geleel was too busy by the rails staring up at the strange light.
He was glad the city had power again, but an unknown danger was looming over the city…and he simply couldn't relax until he figured out what it was.
"Hey." He heard Izabella say as she walked up to him.
"We got the power back to the city, Geleel, we completed our mission." She tried to reason with him.
"Sure as hell doesn't feel like we did." Geleel said after a sigh.
"Cronus said he should be the least of our worries right now…if whatever this is could be worse than HIM, then we're surely in for our darkest hour…" Geleel stated as Izabella thought it over…he was right.
Cronus was already bad enough…what the hell could possibly be worse than him? Well, they were about to find out.
