It was an unusual thing for Holly Ryan aka Skylark to be at a civilian airport, but today she was waiting on someone special. A week ago she had been contacted by her old friend Perry Grin aka Jet Falcon who had inquired her to take on his daughter Riley Airheart on for Work Studies to which she gladly accepted the young girl, the handful of times she met the young woman she was a delight.
"Come on, the HVT can't be late" she groaned
"Miss Skylark" a voice said making the pro hero smile as Riley ran up, dressed in a sleeveless sky blue midriff top, flared Jeans, blue sneakers and a satchel "Sorry I'm late, this place is pretty bog" Riley smiled as she looked around making Holly giggle.
"It's okay Miss Airheart, and I must say I'm very excited to help you with your work studies, you got everything I need for you to do it here in Adelaide?" she asked
"Yep" Riley said as she handed the paperwork over
"Oh man I wasn't sure if you were able to do this" Riley said
"Well I am, besides I'm an old friend of your father's, I knew him back we all jokingly called him the Jet Chicken" Holly joked
"Jet Chicken?" Riley asked
"Yeah, it was an old joke since he wore a white hood with a red stream making him look like a chicken" Holy told her as a woman dressed in red and crimson walked over to her, her long blonde hair was pulled into an over the shoulder ponytail, she saluted Holly
"Skylark ma'am" the woman said
"What's up Starlet?" Holly asked
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realise you were on business" Starlet said
"At ease Holy laughed "This is Riley Airheart, she'll be dong her work studies with us at Skybound" Holly told her
"I see, good; well allow me to introduce myself I'm Stella Night but most people call me Starlet, my quirk is bright flight, basically I create an aura of light that makes me fly" Starlet told her
"Cool, I'm Riley Airheart aka Cloudjumper, my quirk is Sky Dance using it I can walk on air as it if was the ground as well as wind manipulation and cloud creation" Riley said
"A good fit for Skybound" Starlet nodded.
"Now shall we head back?" Holly asked
"Yes please" Riley nodded.
"Skybound is one of the premier hero agencies in South Australia, and Australia in general. Most of our member have air or wind based quirks including flight abilities hence the name Skybound. Our major areas of operation are usually search and rescue with the odd criminal Villain attacks," Holly said
"Like we said Search and Rescue is our main bread and butter, but one of the biggest threats we face is surface to air attacks and the weather" Starlet said
"The weather?" Riley asked
"Indeed, while we are wind and air base there are times we must work in storms and high speed winds. Hopefully while you're with us, we can help you with the ability to move during this times as well as build your potential; of being a rescue you" Holly told her
"Yes ma'am" Riley firmly nodded.
"We work with other agencies as well, depending on the situation at hand" Starlet told her,
"And relax you're making us nervous' Starlet said
"Oh right sorry, hey is it true, the rumours of Miss Skylark being married to a villain?" Riley asked
"It is, James Ryan aka Captain Lightningbolt, he's a member of the villain reformation division" Starlet said
"The hooligans is what they call themselves" Starlet laughed "They are actually a governmental black operational unit"
"Worse kept black ops secret" Holly sighed
"Still at least they work for the good guys right?" Riley asked
"Indeed" Holly said
"Ah we're here" Starlet said as they pulled up to a large skyscraper
"Welcome to Skybound, where you'll be working out of for the next week" Holly said as she entered the car park and had the door opened, once they were parked
"Thanks Sirius" she said to a black furred dog like person who just nodded
"You're welcome lassie, and I welcome you as well to Skybound Miss Airheart" Sirius said
"Any reports?" Holly said as she switched her Skylark mode on.
"Yes ma'am" Sirius said as the entered an elevator.
"Um where will I be staying?" Riley asked
"You'll be in the nearby dorms" Starlet said
"Unless you want to stay with me, I'm sure Zack would be happy to have you over" Holly said
"It's okay I'll stay in the dorm" Riley said
"Okay, we'll finish the paperwork while Starlet gets you settled in alright?" Holly asked
"Yes ma'am" Riley nodded.
"Well here we are, sorry if it's a bit basic" Starlet said as she lead Riley to where she was staying for her duration in Australia. "Now the then" Starlet said as she handed a spiral bound book to Riley "Inside there is everything you need from takeout menus, agency rules and operation procedures, maps of the area, even the wi-fi password" Starlet informed her
Thanks" Riley said quickly flicking through it, This is really handy.
"I know it's your first day here, but I figured you might want to do a small patrol later on if you want" Starlet said
"I'd like that" Riley smiled as she started to unpack, the firsts he she took out was a picture of her, her sister, her father and her boyfriend in the same photo.
"Hey guys" she smiled softly before placing her clothes in the drawers.
"Oh by the way, you can use the landline to call Jet Falcon" Starlet said
"Thanks" Riley said before she put her costume in a special drawer
"Hang on, that's a different design then what we have on records" Starlet said
"Oh, this is my costume's second iteration. The guys at Jackman hooked us all up with an upgrade" Riley smiled
"Not bad" Starlet said
"Thanks, I'm glad they kept the mask the way it was" Riley smiled
"How come?" Starlet asked
"My sister made it for me" Riley smiled.
"And that's the last one. All that needs to be done is to have Riley sign them" Holly stretched, she was still wearing her civilian clothes before an email came in. She opened it and them pressed a code revealing her costume, which was a metallic blue suit with a cape which were connected to her arms like a pair of wings, and a bird shaped mask. She quickly changed into it and walked into the main area. Once they saw her, the sidekicks stood at attention
"Good morning people, this week, we have a special work student with us, the adopted daughter of Jet Falcons from the American Hero school Kirby High" she said slipping her mask on
"Now treat her with respect and like she is one of our own okay, plus hopefully she'll be recruited but us"
"Wouldn't Jet Falcon be upset if he did" Sirius said
"Shut up Sirius, anyway we got our patrol routes for that day, plus there appears to be a hijacking in progress" Skylark said
"I'll deal with that one" Wedgetail said
"Thank you Wedge, and I'm glad you're fitting in here after spending so much time with ANZAC" Skylark nodded
"No problem" Wedgetail nodded
"I'm ready" Riley said as she and Starlet walked in
"A there we are, people this is Riley Airheart aka Cloudjumper, she is our work student. So like I said respect her and treat her like one of our own" Skylark said
"YES MA'AM" they all shouted
"Cloud Jumper, you'll be with Starlet and her patrol route, understood?"
"Come on then" Starlet said as she indicated she was going
"Yes ma'am" Cloudjumper followed her.
"Welcome to Skybound's Sigma patrol route. We mostly walk this rout instead of flying so that way we can make sure everything is going okay, plus we also team up with several other agencies" Starlet said
"Cool, man everyone is so laid back here' Cloudjumper observed
"That's the way here in Australia, sure there were tensions, much like the Port Macquarie Riots" Starlet looked saddened. "Something that should never have happened"
"we actually covered in history class, it affected my boyfriend after hearing about it" Cloudjumper frowned.
"It was practically one of the worse historical events in Quirked Australian history" Starlet said before smiled "Now Cloud Jumper, can you answer me one thing?" she asked
"What is it" Cloudjumper asked
"How many balls are in Rundle Mall, the place we're patrolling now?" she smiled making Cloudjumper look around
"What kind of balls?" she asked confused
"Those kinds" Starlet laughed pointing to two large metal balls stacked on top of each other, "Those are the 'Malls Balls' an icon of the area, a massive open air shopping centre. I love patrolling this place, just seeing how everyone is enjoying themselves here"
"It is pretty cool" Cloudjumper said "Wait is that a bronze pig?" Cloudjumper asked
"yep we have those two" Starlet nodded
"HEY STOP THAT MAN HE STOLE MY BAG!" a voice called out,
"ma'am, may I?" Cloudjumper asked
"Sure Cloudjumper, show me what you got" Starlet said as Cloudjumper rushed into battle, she saw the thief was a pale looking guy with a long ponytail
'A hair based quirk?' she though as she flew into the air. Looking behind him the thief used is rattails as a whip, pulling out her hatchet, Cloudjumper deflected the whip and landed
"HALT VILLAIN!" she cried out
"OH YOU CALLING ME A VILLAIN HUH?" he asked as his hair acted as a snake and curled up waiting to strike her.
"Yeah you are, now drop the bag and surrender, for I am CLOUDJUMPER! An she called out "And using the sky itself, I shall blow all villainy away" .
"Bring it Yankee runt" the thief said.
The thief started to swing his head around his long ponytail following at a higher speed before he threw his head forward, making it act as a whip to try and strike Cloudjumper, who was had jumped into the air, dodging it, she then fired off a ball of air trying to hit the thief, his ponytail acting as a way to deflect the ball of air. Landing and rolling forward she pulled out her cloud hatchet and grabbed the thief's hair with it and pulled, making it taut so he couldn't move his head an inch.
"Got you" Cloudjumper smirked
"Damn brat" the thief pulled his head back hard enough to make Cloudjumper fly at him, she then shifted her posture so she flew feet first at him, her feet landing on the asshole's face sending him back bouncing once he hit the road. She flicked the hair off her hatchet and twirled it. Once she was sure she dashed forward and used the butt of her handle to knock the wind out of his lungs. She then skidded around before glaring at him
"Give up?" she asked
"Damn she's good! You could have warned me Starlet!" the thief said
"You wanted to test her" Starlet laughed. "Cloudjumper, this is Whiptail, he's quirk is obvious, he can use his hair as a whip, he also works at Skybound, one of the rare ground based heros in our group" Starlet explained as Whiptail bowed.
"Seriously?" Cloudjumper asked
"Sorry, but when I heard Starlet was bringing our latest work studies student" Whiptail said
"No worries, thank you for the field test" Cloudjumper bowed
"No worries, you're a good kid." Whiptail laughed.
"Thanks" Riley smiled.
"RILEY!" a voice shouted making the American student turn around as Angie landed and hugged the girl "What are you doing in Adelaide?" she laughed
"Oh you know, just doing my work studies with Zack's mum" Riley laughed
"Good to hear, so how is it going?" Angie asked as she and Riley walked along in their hero costumes, making the civilians of the area excited to see them.
"But I seriously thought you would be doing it in Texas, New York, Oklahoma or somewhere in America" Angie said
"Well you know how much of a fan of Skylark I am, even based my costume of her first costume when she was starting out as Sky Dancer" Riley said
"Just with added clods" Angie laughed
"Yeah, so I ask my dad and he said yes or at least he would try to have it done, so here I am" Riley explained "And seriously Oklahoma?"
"It just slipped out" Angie shrugged
"Okay, okay" Riley laughed
"Anyway shall we take to the sky?" Riley asked
"Indeed" Angie said as she jumped into the air, using her wings to add a bit of lift. Riley literally ran on air to get a higher view, Angie flying next to her.
"This is the best feeling" Angie said
"Indeed, the feeling of being in the air. It just seems like the worries of the world just fade" Riley sighed
"Indeed" Angie smiled
"COMING THROUGH!" a voice shouted as a blur of grey and green passed them
"Who was that?" Riley asked
"The Top Gun hero: Maverick, he's quirk is Sky Jet, he flies through the air by using a pair of wings made out of the air, he's a bit of a speed demon of the skies, but he's a good guy."Angie said as he came back around, Riley now seeing he wore a pilot's outfit
"G'day you two" Maverick said, a strong American accent evident in his voice
"You're?" Riley asked
"I sure am, wait I know you or at least your dad, Jet Falcon right?" Maverick asked
"Yeah that's correct, how do you know him?" Riley asked
"I'm a former sidekick" Maverick told her shocking Riley
"You worked with dad?" Riley asked
"I sure did" Maverick said before a scream was heard, the three fliers went off towards the sound of the scream.
"OOH another target" Massacre laughed as he formed a blade out of his blood and
"MASSACRE!" Maverick shouted as he descended
"How did he get out of prison?" Angie asked socked
"I'm not sure" Cloudjumper said as she pulled out her weapon, while Angelique got defensive.
"I'm guessing the useless asshole known as Spot busted him out" Maverick said
"HEY!" a spot opened up "Who are you calling useless?" Spot asked
"You" Angelique smiled
"Why you!" Spot shouted
"HEY!" Massacre snapped as he swung his blood sword as the heroes, the three quickly moving out of the way, Cloudjumper ran into the sky, only to dodge a arrow made of blood. "WHOA!" She shouted.
"No, no, no little birdie you aren't going anywhere!" Massacre sang out.
"I hate this guy" Maverick growled.
"We have to stay together" Angelique told them
"I should go and get help" Cloudjumper said
"Go, we'll be fine here" she said
"Okay I'll be back soon" Cloudjumper ran off while Maverick pushed Massarce back.
"STARLET, SKYLARK!" Riely shouted as she ran to the pair, panting. The blond hero quickly caught her
"What's wrong?" Starlet asked
"We found Massacre" Riley panted. The two heroes were scared, he was one of the worse villains around only behind the disaster quartet and Dingo Dagger. Skylark was very tempted to call in James and his team.
"We should call Redback" Starlet said
"No kidding" Riley said
"Where's in Hobart" Skylark frowned
"Then Taipan?" Starlet said
"He went back to Japan." Skylark said
"Great" Starlet frowned.
"Don't worry we'll deal with him" Starlet took off,
"STELLA!" Skylark shouted
"I'm sorry ma'am" Riley looked down tearing up at how she felt, she had dealt with villains worse then this. Skylark turned to her student
"Look I know you had runs in with the guild and the League when you were in Japan, but Aussie villains are like Aussie heroes, sort of built differently. I don't doubt that All-Might would have trouble with Massacre, who can turn his blood into weapons. Is only a miracle we've managed to be him so far" Skylark said
"Okay" Riley dried her eyes.
"So don't worry about running, no one can take him on, but together you might be able to do" Skylark said "Now I have to follow my side kick" she smiled as she flew off.
"Okay" Cloudjumper looked around. Skylark chuckled
"COME ON!" Skylark shouted making Riley nod and race off.
"PEEKABOO!" Massacre laughed as he formed a spear out of his blood and tried to stab Maverick with it, but the Top Gun hero flew into the air and stayed there with Angelique
"We've got to stop him soon, otherwise we won't be able to fly" Maverick
"I agree" Angelique nodded
"Oh goodie" Massacre laughed.
"Like you said earlier, PEEKA BOO!" Starlet shouted as she flew into Massacre, making him in turn fly into a wall
"Starlet!" Maverick shouted as he landed and quickly faltered
"Pete!" she caught him "You alright Maverick?"
"I am" Maevrick told her
"How's the rookie?" he asked
"Still handling things, man her flying is great, I mean really great" Starlet sated before Angie landed and panted
"Damn my wings are cramping up" she groaned
"It's okay Angelique, I'll take over" Starlet said
"Thanks" Angelique sat down
"You think you can beat me girly?" Massacre asked as he formed the blood in his fingers into dagger like claws.
"Yeah I do, because I know that I can whoop you ass quickly hen the sky blows clouds long" Starlet punched her hand and smirked
"Bring it!" Massacre raced forward.
Starlet flew at Massacre who had made several blades out of his blood, which covered his arms so that way there wouldn't be any chance of his missing the blonde hero
"STARLET!" Skylark shouted unleashing a blast of wind, knocking Massacre off course, snarling he turned a couple of the blades on his arms into a bow and arrow, firing at the number 3 hero.
"SKYLARK!" Cloudjumper shouted as she stepped into the path of the arrow, which embedded itself in her stomach
"RILEY!" Skylark cried out
"YES!" Massacre laughed
"Hang on" Angelique said as the arrow turned back into blood and splashed harmlessly on the ground.
"it hurts' Riley whimpered
"I've got to get her Nursemaid" she shouted
"GO!" Skylarked ordered before more blood arrows flew at them.
"Great I can't get out of there" Angelique frowned
"What are we going to do?" Riley asked
"Try not to move, THIS IS STARLET, WE HAVE A HERO DOW SEND A MEDIC TO MY LOCATION!" Starlet shouted over the radio.
"Too bad there won't be anything left by then" Massacre laughed.
"I think there may be" a voice said as two bullets, pinballed off the wall and hit the villain in the back
"WHO Are you?" Massacre asked as the question died in his throat. Since standing there before him was a man purple suit with a skull like shape cut out of his hood, his eyes covered by a domain mask.
"No way, you're" Skylark said
"The Phantom" Riley weakly said
"NO way, he's real?" Angie asked shocked
"He's no myth. He's a legend" Skylark said as they watched the Phantom landing a punch on Massacre's head
"The ghost walker" Angie gasped. "No one can land a hit on him. Everyone is not sure how he does it. Whether its magic or a quirk"
"Indeed, but he's a major pro, and has helped out in several nations South Africa, Kenya, Somalia, England, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and now here in Australia. He's racked up that many hero victories he's amazing" Skylark said as the Phantom flipped over to them, frowning he sure that Riley was injured. He held out his hand and quietly said something before a dark purple light shone from his hand making the wound close, gasping Riley looked at it
"I'm healed?" Riley asked "He healed me"
"Indeed" Skylark said before the Phantom blocked a blade of blood before, he punched Massacre in stomach, which once again shone with purple light making chains of purple light surround the villain
"What!" Massacre shouted as he was knocked over "WHAT BULLSHIT IS THIS!" he shouted
"The one you can't escape from, villain" the Phantom declared knocking Massacre out with one more punch.
"Whoa" They other heroes said before the sound of sirens were heard. Looking away the group saw Knux raced over
"Looks like you got him" Knux said as he appeared.
"And that's what happened" Riley said s the doctors checked out her, where she was stabbed.
"You're serious, the Phantom was here?" Knux asked
"Indeed, I could hardly believe it myself" Skylark aid
"No kidding, and the rumour of him using some kind of magic isn't a rumour, its true., It healed my student, and contained Masacre. He's a real ledged, and we're better he's here." Starlet said
"I wonder who he is" Knux frowned, "And where he went?", unaware that the Phantom was watching the group, a smile on his face.
"Things might be looking up" he aid as he walked off.
G'Day Guys Grizz her, and this chapter's plot was something I've had in my back pocket for months, basically since the beginning of this series that's how long I've wanted to have to do this chapter and now I'm doing it in the final stretch of the fic. And I've also once again added the Phantom again from the last time I used Bowman in this fic, only a bit more expanded which will be continued into the next chapter which is the final Hooligan chapter for the fic
