Apartment
The entire group stood in the basement as they were watching the news report about the strange ring that lapped around Earth now as a result of what Cronus had done.
It has been a few days since the incident, so the kids had time to figure out the blue matter was a giant ring that wrapped around Earth entirely, much like Saturn's rings.
"Our top story tonight, those stunning rings around our planet...still no scientific explanation as to why the asteroid explosion-" Geleel turns the TV off as the report was cut short.
The team then congregated together as they all wore sullen expressions…they're mission was technically not a failure but…Earth was still seemingly in grave danger.
"Kai, what exactly have the rings affected since the day they spread over Earth? Give me everything." Geleel questioned Kai.
"Well, they're mainly affecting satellites and radio wavelengths all over the Earth." Kai stated as he used his arms to emphasize the wide range of disruptions the rings have caused.
"Wow, so a slight pain in the planet's ass Kai? Doesn't really sound like impending doom to me." Kayla said with a deadpan.
"You didn't let me finish…" Kai trailed off as he turned to his computer, the others walked closer to see what he was about to show them.
"According to the planet's atomic timer, the sun rose approximately 1.37 seconds late this morning." Kai began as Geleel gasped…the rings couldn't be so powerful as to affect time itself…could they?
"What does that mean? It's just a second." Barrett stated, he could not see the significance of a mere second.
"Even a millisecond can have an adverse effect on us and can be catastrophic for our planet B, Kai, are you sure that data is correct, are these rings really affecting time?" Geleel questioned Kai as he nodded.
"Yup, and not just time either, watch this guys." Kai began as he pressed a key on his computer, a diagram of Earth with the blue ring around it appeared.
"The rings are spinning in the opposite direction of Earth, this will cause an atmospheric disturbance on Earth that will no doubt lead to tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes…and you know the rest." Kai stated as everyone was trying to take in this information…this was a lot to handle at once.
The brunette then began typing on the computer again.
"Okay…so what was the bad news?" Karina questioned Kai, because if that was the good news…well.
"Oh don't worry I'm getting to that." Kai said as he brought up a display of New York.
"If the Earth just suddenly STOPS rotating, everything on the surface of the Earth will collapse onto itself and well…" Kai trailed off as a large sum of water flooded the New York display…even burying and crushing skyscrapers, before completely engulfing the city as the others gasped at that…maybe this was bigger than they anticipated.
"I'm sorry I even asked…" Karina trailed off with a wary expression.
"So if that will happen to Earth…what will happen to us?" Barrett questions Kai.
"Uh….splat?" Kai questioned shakily as they all were stuck now…how were they supposed to fix this before Earth was destroyed completely?
"Guys, we have to go see Herra." Geleel declared as there was no room for debate.
They all piled into Barrett's truck and began heading to the school, the Gods were the only ones who could advise them here.
As they drove through the city they began noticing how the rings had already began to cause slight civil unrest, there was sirens wailing, people overstocking their cars with groceries in case they would need to quarantine, shouting had become but a regular tone at this point.
When they arrived at the school they immediately went to Herra's aviary and approached her as she petted her Peacock.
The kids expressed their concerns and gratitude to Herra for always seeing them on short notice.
"Cronus has caught us by surprise and I am aware of the danger, but do not become discouraged my children, remember what the Oracle said, you 6 are destined to stop Cronus by any means." Herra reminded them.
"But how? Cronus is about to rip this planet apart by the seams if we don't do something right now." Geleel urged Herra who sighed in response.
"Just like Achilles…so hotblooded." She muttered to herself.
"We have to be rational here Geleel, settle down and listen." Herra reminded him as he sighed before dropping his frown.
"Kayla, take them to see your mentor Aphrodite, I believe she can be of great assistance to you all in this mission." Herra stated as Kayla nodded before she began leading the team to Aphrodite's quarters.
"Oh and Geleel." Herra stated as Geleel stopped and turned to her, the others had left.
"Don't let these rings discourage you, you did great on your first mission as this team's leader…" Herra trailed off as Geleel looked to the ground.
He didn't feel great about his first night leading at all but, nonetheless he still nodded and thanked Herra before leaving to join the others.
When Geleel finally caught up with the others and found Aphrodite's quarters he was shaken to say the least.
The blonde haired caucasian Goddess was in a school building…clad in a robe of all things, it wasn't even tied properly as the entire group could see an unnecessary amount of cleavage peering through the robe, and her slightly tanned thighs were on full display too.
The only one who saw this as normal was Kayla ofcourse…she was around Aphrodite enough to know the latter didn't care for clothes that weren't revealing.
Karina and Izabella glare over at the boys who were seemingly trying to assess the situation, though they interpreted it as them being perverse.
"Hey, why don't you boys stop staring so hard, you're drooling all over yourselves." Izabella said with an eye roll as they blanched at her.
"What?" Kai questioned in disbelief.
"Where the hell are we supposed to look? Look how she's dressed-ack!" Barrett exclaimed as Izabella stomped on his foot.
Geleel lets out a small snicker, only to yelp in pain when Karina backhanded him across the chest much to his dismay.
"What the hell was that about?" Geleel questioned her.
"Don't laugh because you're not innocent either." She said with a judging look before turning around.
Geleel mocked her when she turned around.
Kayla was finally motioned over by Aphrodite; the latter was filing some documents so the former had to wait to speak to her.
"Oh my goodness Kay, it's been so long since I've spoken to you sweetheart! What's up?" Aphrodite questioned her student.
"I couldn't even explain to you how hectic these past few days have been but, someone wants to talk to you." Kayla began as she gestured over to the boys.
"The one with the dreads right there, who seemingly never learned not to STARE at people." Kayla stated as Geleel deadpanned at her.
"It's okay, it would seem he and his predecessor Achilles both share a certain fixation with all of this." Aphrodite stated as she gestured to herself.
"Ooookay that's enough, Aphrodite, we have to talk about something that the entire faith of the universe rests on, this has to be serious." Geleel declared as Aphrodite narrowed her eyes and sat down…she wanted to know what he had to say now.
"What is it?" She questioned as she leaned closer to Geleel, he almost stumbled back a bit, the Goddess seemingly couldn't understand personal space.
"Well, I know you know about the rings around Earth and what they're doing, Herra said you might know how to help." Geleel presented to her as she hummed and backed away.
"I can't exactly help with that but, I do know who can." Aphrodite stated.
"Who?" Karina questioned as she spoke up.
"You guys have to go see the Oracle." Aphrodite informed them as it all made sense, the Oracle was the all knowing, if anyone could help, it was him.
"Okay we'll go see him guys, ready?" Geleel questioned his team as the girls nodded, Barrett and Kai were still too busy being mesmerized by Aphrodite.
"Thanks Ms. Aphrodite, it was a pleasure to meet you." Kai said in an almost dreared tone.
"Yea…a real pleasure." Barrett added with a smirk.
Karina frowned at them before delivering swift slaps to both of their respective faces as they both yelped and began rubbing their cheeks.
"Let's go." She said curtly before ushering them out of the room by hand.
"Bye kids! Bye Kay-Kay!" Aphrodite shouted as the remaining three began to leave.
"Bye big sis." Kayla said as the team left the Goddess's office.
Now it was time for them to go out into the city to find the Oracle…they had a good idea where to look too.
Downtown
The city was still in a state of confusion, walking through it was like a fever dream for the group.
However, they were hardly phased, this type of stuff had become normal for them after all, they were the descendants of the Gods...it can't get much crazier than that.
After heeding the very direct and just instructions, Geleel was able to spot the Oracle sitting beside a stand; the dark-skinned man sat leisurely as his darkened sunglasses hid his emotions, though he seemed to be in a rather calm state amidst the chaos around him.
"This is our guy, the one with all the answers." Geleel said as they began to approach the Oracle.
"So, you 6 are the chosen few, ay? It was only a matter of time before you came to see me." The Oracle stated as his face remained stoic.
"Wow, who knew his...Oracleatious powers were so good." Barrett said with a smile.
"What, Oracleatious isn't a word you dimwit." Kai stated in a hushed tone as Izabella hushed them both.
"Focus guys." She reprimanded them.
"Listen, we were told that you might have some insight on how to stop Cronus and get rid of these rings." Geleel informed the Oracle as he gestured to the sky where the rings were ever present.
The Oracle hummed to himself, it would be so easy to tell them...but...he was an oracle, what would be the fun in that?
"That kinda defeats the purpose of you fulfilling your destinies, if I just told you, that would be making things far too easy." The Oracle informed them as they all frowned at this.
"What? But you're an Oracle, you're supposed to help in situations like this." Kayla reminded him.
"My job is to answer difficult questions, yes, but my job is not to babysit you on your path, nobody said this would be easy...now, do you have any ACTUAL difficult questions for me to answer?" The Oracle questions the group.
"Yes, I-woah!" Karina exclaimed as the Oracle swiftly grabbed her hand and pulled her forward.
The others were taken back by this as they got defensive, luckily when they realized he was not hurting her, they relaxed a bit.
The Oracle raised his glasses up as his eyes were seemingly glowing in a bright golden hue.
"You have...the true power of light coursing through you...if you were to become tainted by any form of evil it would yield immediate doom for this universe." The Oracle stated as Karina's blood ran cold at that, was he saying that she was a threat to Earth?
The others were just as confused as her, they all knew Karina was one of if not the most powerful members of the team, but to think she'd one day become a universal force was outrageous to them at this point…
Karina pulled her hand out of the Oracle's grasp as he placed his glasses back down.
"I will assume you have no more questions for me, now, take your leave." The Oracle stated as he picked up a newspaper and began reading it.
The group all collectively sighed as they turned and began walking down the street.
After a point Kai had to break the silence.
"Well that was completely pointless, we still have no clue how to stop Cronus or save Earth." He announced as if everyone didn't already know that.
"So, what's our next move, gang?" Barrett questions the group, more specifically Geleel.
"There's gotta be something we can do, this can't be it, Kai, come on, you're smart in these situations, you have to have an idea as to what we can do about the rings atleast." Geleel questioned Kai as the latter placed a hand on his chin.
"I'm really out of ideas here G, I don't know what we could do...unless...wait!" Kai shouted as he turned and began running towards the school.
"Sooo...he's just not gonna fill us in on this idea?" Kayla questioned the rest of the group as they all simultaneously shrugged.
"I guess we'll figure out what it is later." Izabella said as they continued on to the school.
Later On
Kai still had yet to fully explain his idea to anybody in particular yet, but as he was in the forge along with Hermes and Hesphaestus, he was explaining the mesosphere for whatever reason.
"The meso-what now?" Hesphaestus questioned as he stoked the forge's flame.
"The MESOSPHERE, it's the layer above the stratosphere, mad cold, the little fragments from the asteroid have translucent clouds due to the rad-are you guys even paying attention?" Kai questioned after he realized that Hermes and Hesphaestus were seemingly not taking in his explanation.
"Oh!" Hermes exclaimed as he then feigned attentiveness, Hesphaestus soon followed him in doing so as Kai deadpanned at them.
"We got the very cold part." Hermes said with a shrug as Kai sighed.
"The rings are made up of frozen particles from the sky." He then explained in simpler terms.
"Ohhhh! The sky thingie." Hesphaestus said with a chuckle.
"Right, I totally understand where you're coming from here." Hermes lied as Kai brushed it off.
"Hm, if that ice is on the direct edge of space, then I can maybe…" Kai's voice trailed off as he walked to the other side of the forge, Hermes and Hesphaestus could not hear him anymore, not that it mattered, because the poor Gods could not understand a word that boy was saying.
"Does this look well done to you?" Hesphaestus questioned Hermes as he presented a steak on some tongs to Hermes who looked at him in disbelief.
"I thought you were stoking the flame this whole time!" Hermes shouted as Hesphaestus shrugged before biting into the steak.
Suddenly the door clicks open as the two Gods instantly recognize Barrett and Geleel entering the forge.
"Geleel/Sonny!" Hermes and Hesphaestus both shouted respectively as Barrett offered them a smile and Geleel nodded his head towards them.
"Boy it sure is good to see you two!" Hermes shouted enthusiastically as he brought them into half hugs.
Looks like Kai's rambling was more mind-numbing than expected.
"Any exciting developments on your end?" Hermes asked as Geleel arched a brow at his energetic tone.
"Not really, we still don't know where Cronus is, we were just trying to see if Kai found a solution to the ring issue." Geleel revealed as he backed away from Hermes.
"So?" Geleel questioned as Kai sighed.
"The three of us were just brainstorming, no breakthroughs yet." Kai revealed.
"Unfortunately, there has yet to even be a single drop in this storm." Hermes said flatly.
"To make matters worse, I lost my truck! When I find out who took it, I swear I'll make em pay." Barrett said gravely as Geleel gave him an awkward gaze.
"Okay then…….." Geleel stated as Hesphaestus began chuckling.
"I like your fire grandson, but don't worry, I was the one who took your truck." Hesphaestus revealed as Barrett blanched at him.
"I hope you don't mind...I made a few modifications to it." The God said with a smirk as he clicked a button that opened up the garage door.
Everyone except Hesphaestus gasped extremely loud when they took note of the newly modified truck.
The truck was resprayed into a more carbon toned black with white flame highlights along the hood and doors.
There was a roll cage set in, spikes on the bumper, and ofcourse, a whole new engine.
"Yo, this thing is fucking sick, that's all I can say." Kai said in awe as everyone began ogling the beautiful vehicle.
"Wow...gramps, this is beautiful…" Barrett said as he ran his hands across the hood.
"You ain't seen nothing yet, watch this." Hesphaestus said as he brandished a large sword.
He then began swinging it with immense force at the tires, after a few well placed swings, Hesphaestus presented the sword to them as it was bent up and mangled whilst the tire was still perfectly intact...not even a scratch.
"Nice, this thing is gonna be efficient in battles, is it weaponized?" Geleel questioned Hesphaestus who snickered before letting out a hearty laugh.
"Come on kid, I thought you knew everything about us Gods, you know who I am and why I became a legend across worlds." Hesphaestus said with a smirk as he tapped a button on the truck's dashboard.
A set of guns came out of the hood...they didn't seem like your run of the mill guns though.
To top it off, a rail gun came out of the roof, so it would appear that someone would be manning that part of the truck's defenses.
"I don't think I'm ever gonna get tired of driving now." Barrett said as he entered the driver's seat and began feeling the truck out…as if it was the first time he had even pooled up enough money to buy this truck a few years back.
The group minus Geleel continued to gawk over the upgraded truck.
The leader was still in deep thought about what they were going to do about Cronus and the rings.
'If we don't think of something faster this situation could get a whole lot worse.' He mentally stated as he leaned against a table.
Later
Geleel and Kayla sat on a couch in Aphrodite's quarters as they both were still stumped.
"Ya know, you kids sure haven't had the best luck and this is only the beginning, really thought that Oracle woulda helped." Aphrodite stated as she tended to her hair.
"Not the time, sis." Kayla reprimanded her.
"She's not wrong Kay, we're at a dead end no matter how we look at it." Geleel said as he crossed his arms.
"I know but…jeez, we don't have to keep reminding ourselves of it." Kayla informed them.
"There might be nothing we can do-" Geleel is cutoff as the door swings open to reveal Karina, the latter seemingly ran here judging from her panting.
"I know how we can stop Cronus!" She shouted as Geleel and Kayla gave each other incredulous gazes.
"Well, that was convenient." Kayla said with a shrug.
"The Oracle did say Karina was the most powerful out of all us." Geleel said with a shrug as he walked up to Apollo's granddaughter.
"So, what's the move?" Geleel questioned her as she smiled at him, her powers of light were sure to expose Cronus' trickery.
"He's at the highest building in Manhattan…" She revealed to her teammates.
Later
Somehow, Karina had pinpointed Cronus' location with the use of her powers, she herself didn't even know she was capable of this.
The mad Titan was staying at a hotel in New York City, probably plotting his next evil venture.
So naturally the kids loaded up on weapons and any extra devices they needed and got into Barrett's truck, not before gawking at the vehicle and it's upgrades, and took off after Cronus.
Kai had agreed to stay back and try to figure out the rings some more, which was probably for the best.
The group had made it to the hotel swiftly and had already crept their way up to the highest floor, it was the floor directly on the roof.
Geleel led the team to a glass double doors as they looked inside.
They instantly saw Cronus' back facing them as they all prepared themselves to face off against the titan once again.
"On my signal guys." Geleel said as he gestured.
Barrett then brandished a large hammer as Geleel nodded at him.
The brute then grunted as he smashed the door to bits and the team swiftly ran into the room.
Cronus was busy enjoying a glass of wine as he didn't even flinch at the commotion.
"We have you cornered Cronus, just give up." Izabella stated as she had two dagurs poised for a fight.
"Oh, do you now?" Cronus questioned methodically.
"We don't have time for your mind games." Karina said as she spun her nunchucks.
"Ah, the one who probably led you all here, Karina, was it?" He questioned, still not turning to face the group.
"I'm gonna give you two options Cronus, one, you tell us how to stop those rings from destroying this planet." Geleel began as Cronus hummed.
"And option two?" He questioned as Geleel didn't offer a response directly, he simply drew his sword out and pointed it towards Cronus.
"Your second option is me cutting your tongue out of your skull." Geleel said as his glare hardened at Cronus.
Then Cronus began laughing to himself hysterically…this confused the group, they knew this guy was sick…but who in their right mind would laugh at that type of threat.
"Is he okay?" Kayla questioned Izabella who could only shrug in response.
"What's so funny you red eyed prick? We're about to kick your shit into next week and you're laughing?" Barrett questioned as Cronus only seemed to laugh even more hysterically.
"I'm sorry it's just so funny when Geleel tries to intimidate me, cut your tongue out of your skull." Cronus repeated in a mocking tone.
He then stood up from his chair and swiftly turned to the group with a sickening frown.
"Please, don't make me laugh." He taunted them.
"Make all the jokes you want, we still outnumber you 5 to 1." Karina reminded Cronus.
"Please, I've been over this number thing with you numerous times, don't you guys ever learn? I basically made myself a walking power target just so you could find me, did any of you think to stop and ask why? Why would Cronus make himself so vulnerable purposely, hm? Did you think of this fearless leader?" Cronus questioned Geleel specifically now.
Geleel faltered for a bit, but he didn't allow Cronus to throw his conviction off.
The titan took the group's silence as a nod of defeat, boy was he wrong.
"Thought as much, now put those toys down before you kids get yourself hurt." Cronus said as he brandished his sickles.
"Not a chance…" Kayla said as she got into a fighting stance.
"Now!" Geleel shouted as he rushed at Cronus with his sword poised to attack.
Cronus smirked as he and Geleel began trading attacks, the sound of metal clanging against each other rang through the room.
The titan couldn't believe it, it was like everytime they faced off this boy was getting better and better.
"It seems you are not as cowardly as the first time we were eye to eye, come Geleel, show me what's so special about you." Cronus stated as Geleel kicked him in the chest and jumped back away from him.
"Now guys! As a team!" Geleel shouted as Cronus arched a brow.
The titan then tried to swing down at Geleel only for his hand to be wrapped up by a bola.
He grunted in annoyance as he turned to see Izabella poised with another bola.
Cronus then prepared to throw his other sickle at her, only to be distracted by Karina delivering a roundhouse kick to his head.
The titan didn't fall to this attack but he definitely faltered due to it.
Cronus couldn't relax yet however, as Barrett swiftly ran up to him with a large shield in hand, the latter rammed Cronus with the shield so hard the titan went flying through the back doors and onto the open roof.
"This is getting tedious now." Cronus said as he noticed his sickle was planted into the roof.
He reached for it, only to have his hand wrapped up by a Hesphaestus whip, this caused Cronus to immediately gain a wary expression, he knew how powerful these whips were.
The group came upon him, they all fought the urge to smirk, this was the first time they saw a genuine look of fear on this titan's face.
Geleel then rips the Hesphaestus whip back as Cronus cries out from the sheer pain of his flesh and skin being ripped at.
He looked down at his hand in despair and anger as it bled profusely.
"I must say; you lot are a tad more serious now." Cronus said as his hand immediately healed itself, much to the shock of the group...this guy was a monster.
"But the time for play is over." Cronus said gravely.
"I couldn't agree more." Geleel stated from his new position behind Cronus as the titan once again had a shaken up expression across his features.
The descendant of Achilles now had his blade pressed right against Cronus' neck, but how did he even get there?
"How did you…" Cronus trailed off...there's no way the powerless leader could move that fast.
"Perks of being friends with a descendant of Athena." Geleel said as he swiftly moved to block Cronus' backwards swing.
"Izzy!" Geleel shouted as Cronus arched a brow.
Unfortunately before he realized it, Izabella had thrown another bola at him, he ducked this one.
"Faulty aim." He said with a smirk.
"Is it though?" Izabella questioned as Cronus' eyes widened in realization.
It was too late however as the bola had come back and wrapped around his entire body causing him to grunt in despair.
Cronus then realized the bola was glowing with purple energy as he saw it was Kayla manipulating it with her powers, judging by the glow of her eyes.
'So it appears the runts are getting acquainted with their powers...hell even the powerless runt is being more comfortable with his leadership, perhaps you lot will be a worthy challenge after all.' Cronus mentally declared as he smirked, he wasn't worried about his current predicament.
He was only trapped for a short period of time.
However, this did not matter as everyone turned to Karina.
"Do it Karina." Geleel said as he backed away from Cronus much to the surprise of the titan.
You see, the young descendants were not aiming to trap Cronus, they were aiming to put him away for good.
Cronus immediately realized this as he saw Karina had shakily formed a ball of pure light.
He was strong but he did not want to get hit with that...unfortunately there was no choice.
"Get behind me guys!" Karina shouted as she struggled to control the power.
"Fools! Don't use such power in an area like this!" Cronus shouted as Karina threw the orb at him anyways.
"NOOOOOO!" Cronus shouted out as the orb connected with him causing a large explosion of energy to engulf the area.
Barrett formed a large enough shield to protect everyone from the blast radius.
When the explosion had settled and cleared up they all took note of the destruction the attack had caused.
"Wow...I didn't know it would be that much power." Karina said in an apologetic tone.
"Is everyone okay?" Geleel questioned as they all affirmed that they were indeed fine for the most part.
"You think that did it?" Izabella questioned their leader as they walked over to the edge of the roof.
The group collectively gasped as they saw Cronus' mangled and destroyed body huskily crawling up the wall with the use of his sickles...it was a disgusting sight to see, even as the titan's body was healing he was still determined to be evil.
"Well, that disgusting sight answers your question." Kayla stated as she wretched.
"Let's get back to the school, fast." Geleel said as there was no extra debate there.
The team immediately made it down to the street and got in Barrett's truck.
Later
The group all, minus Kai, stood in Aphrodite's quarters along with Herra as well.
"So Kayla tells me you guys actually bested Cronus for once?" Aphrodite questioned them as they were all seemingly excited about the battle.
"Yea! We totally kicked his ass this time!" Barrett shouted as Herra cleared her throat.
"Right...sorry." He apologized as he scratched his head.
"All that teamwork training is really playing off." Karina added in as she and Izabella were seated next to each other.
"Yea, you guys shoulda seen us out there, we were a unit." Izabella said as twirled her dagurs.
"Gotta say Ms. Herra, you were right, once we started working together and trusting each other, facing off against Cronus wasn't so bad." Geleel admitted as Herra smiled, they both knew how powerful Cronus was, and that definitely wasn't the last of him, but it still felt nice to get a small victory over him.
"That's why you're the leader Geleel, you are to ensure that the team works together at all times, if you all do not have each other's backs in battle, you all will perish." Herra stated firmly as they all stopped celebrating and got serious.
"Wow, way to kill the buzz-ack!" Barrett exclaimed as Karina slapped his arm, effectively shutting him up.
"Boys." Kayla said as she shook her head.
"Anyways, all that being said, I would to congratulate you all- wait, where's Kai?" Herra questioned them.
"Last I checked he was working on a solution to the rings, I'll give him a call." Geleel said as he brandished his phone.
"Kai, you got anything positive on your side of the mission yet?" Geleel questioned as Kai picked the phone up.
"Well, this is not exactly positive or negative but, I've been doing more computing...and if we don't do something soon, the world is going to rip apart in less than 24 hours give or take." Kai relayed as everyone in the room became serious once more.
This news was far too dire, and they still had no leads.
"What about you guys, you found Cronus?" Kai questioned them all.
"Yea, thanks to Karina, we beat him, but if we don't do something about those rings then in reality he was the one who beat us." Geleel said with a sigh.
"Ya know, I never understood why people needed this many mirrors in a room, how much of your reflection can you take?" Barrett questioned as Kayla groaned and smacked her head.
"Can this idiot focus on a serious topic for more than 2 sec-" Kayla is cut off as everyone heard Kai audibly gasp.
"Barrett's a genius!" Kai shouted as they all were wide eyed by this notion.
"He just gave me the perfect idea, reflections are our only hope!" Kai questioned as he ended the call.
"Kai? Kai! Well...he didn't let us in on the plan, guess we'll have to meet up with him for that part." Geleel said with a shrug.
"I just hope this idea he has works." Izabella said as she walked up to Geleel.
"Yea...in 24 hours we all could lose everything we love; I don't want that at all." Karina said as she clutched her necklace.
The three of them then left the room along with Herra and Aphrodite, leaving an annoyed Kayla and a smug Barrett behind.
Barrett was far too busy smirking at Kayla who was giving him the most annoyed look ever, to realize their was even a plan in place.
"Not so much of an idiot now am I?" Barrett questioned her.
"Nope, you're still a doofus, this was all luck." Kayla said as she shrugged and walked away from him.
"Whatever you say mushroom head." Barrett said as Kayla's eyes narrowed and she used her powers to place one of Aphrodite's stakes in front of Barrett causing him to trip over it and fall flat on his face.
"Okay, you win this one." Barrett said as Kayla hummed and exited the room.
School Entrance
Geleel, Kayla and Izabella had met up with Kai at the school entrance.
Herra and Aphrodite had went to the main office.
Barrett sudden runs up behind them in a husky manner.
"What took you so long?" Kai questioned him.
"No time, we have to move fast, Kai." Geleel said as they opened the door.
The group immediately jumped as they noticed there was a giant traffic jam and people were seemingly screaming and running from something as horns blared.d
"What the hell is happening?" Izabella questioned.
"No clue, but these streets are packed, even if we drove on the sidewalk we wouldn't get anywhere." Kayla relayed to the group.
"Don't worry about that, gramps didn't upgrade my truck for nothing, we're getting out of here alright." Barrett said with a smirk as they all followed him to the forge, still confused as to what he meant.
"And do you mind filling us in on that?" Kai questioned as Barrett chuckled.
"You'll see." Barrett said as they continued walking.
Later
It was now night time as they sat in the truck, Barrett had driven them through the woods a little bit, which was away from where they needed to go.
"Barrett, how is this going to help?" Karina questioned him.
"Just trust me." He stated as he came upon a highway railing that would put them back on course.
"No way...you better not…" Kayla trailed off.
"Brace yourselves!" Barrett shouted as he put the truck into overdrive and sped towards the rail.
Before they knew it, the truck had smashed through the rails and began flying through the air for a bit.
"Oh my Gods!" Karina shouted out as they slammed back onto the ground and Barrett swiftly steadied the vehicle.
The others took a second to regain their surroundings as the truck settled.
"What...what is wrong with you?" Kai questioned Barrett.
"Many...many things." Barrett said as he drove on.
Geleel couldn't help but smirk at Barrett's antics, the dude was down right maniacal at times but he had a good heart, and he did what needed to be done for the mission.
"Anyways, where do we need to go for your plan Kai?" Geleel questioned the brunette.
"We need to head to Golden Valley." Kai stated as he pressed keys on his laptop.
"I'll get us there quick, just hang tight." Barrett said as he began driving even faster.
"What's in Golden Valley, Kai?" Kayla questioned him.
"A solar array, one of the biggest thermo-concentrated systems in the world." Kai explained.
"Uh, can we get the English version of that?" Barrett questions him.
"Okay look, the rings are made mostly of ice, so, the rays collect and concentrate the Sun's energy, much like Karina here." Kai began as everyone smiled at Karina who gave a sheepish expression at the praise.
"We can redirect the rays and melt the rings." Kai finished as everyone smiler at the plan.
"Man, where would this team be without your genius Kai?" Geleel questioned as Kai smirked.
"I know right, you'd probably be dead." Kai said smugly.
"Okay don't get too ahead of yourself, playboy." Kayla said as Kai chuckled at her flat tone.
"We have to be fast about this guys, there's not much time, put that pedal to the floor B." Geleel said as Barrett tried to get as much speed out of the truck as possible.
Suddenly a loud thud draws their attention as they all began looking around in confusion.
They all gasped when they realized a giant furry beast with 6 spider-like legs and the face of a shrew coming at them, with clear ill intent...this thing was gnarly as it roared and snarled whilst chasing them.
"What the hell is that thing?" Kai questioned as his voice cracked due to fear.
Geleel then narrowed his eyes as he realized who was atop the beast.
"Cronus…" The dreadhead trailed off as he grit his teeth, it was only a matter of time before he caught on.
"Woah!" Barrett exclaimed as the beast lept in front of the truck causing him to swerve and avoid its hairy and grotesque legs.
He was fortunately able to disorient the creature and drive away from it again.
Geleel then realized something…
"Barrett...stop driving." Geleel stated firmly as Izabella's neck almost snapped due to how fast she turned to him.
"Are you insane dude?" Barrett shouted as he kept driving.
"It's just long enough for some of us to jump out and keep that ugly bastard busy, you take Kai and Karina to the array." Geleel stated as Barrett nodded.
"As long as I don't gotta be out there with that thing I'm good!" Kai shouted as Barrett stopped the truck.
"Okay come on girls!" Geleel shouted as he along with Izabella and Kayla hopped out of the truck.
Barrett then peeled off immediately as the beast came bounding towards them.
Unfortunately Cronus ordered the creature to jump over Geleel Izabella and Kayla and continue after Barrett.
Right as the monster was about to attack the truck its leg was caught by Geleel's Hesphaestus whip.
"Guys! It has 6 legs but it's unstable! Let's use that to our advantage!" Geleel shouted as he yanked the creature back and Barrett was allowed to fully drive away.
Izabella then threw three bolas as two of the creature's legs were now bounded together.
Kayla's arms were now coated in spiritual energy as she shot them at the creature causing it to shriek in pain.
The creature fell onto its side as Geleel ran over to Kayla, the latter coated the former's sword in spiritual energy.
Geleel ran towards the beast with his enhanced weapon as he swung it at the creature, the beast was knocked off of the road and into the water below.
Cronus, who was on top of the creature, seemingly disappeared out of thin air.
"It was a clone?" Izabella questioned.
"Why would he send a clone instead of coming here himself?" Geleel questioned, this dude never ceased to mess with their heads.
There was a small pause after this question, no one knew the answer.
"How did you know that was going to work?" Kayla questioned Geleel about the move as they all looked at his blade, right as the spiritual power began leaving from it.
"I didn't." Geleel said as he sheathed the blade.
The others
Barrett had gotten Kai and Karina to the array.
The two older teens stood as Kai was trying to set the arrays up.
Suddenly the Earth shook violently as Karina and Barrett tried to brace themselves.
"It's already happening! I have to do this faster!" Kai shouted as he continued pressing keys on one of the satellites' modem.
"Come on! Come on!" He shouted as he noticed the Sun coming up.
Right as this happened the satellites redirected the Sun's light and shot it up at the rings above them.
Everyone shielded their eyes from the giant light beam as it seemingly melted the rings in an instant.
"Kai...you actually did it." Karina said huskily after they all took a moment to process everything.
"Wow...you actually ARE a genius!" Barrett shouted as he picked Kai up.
"I hope you closed your sun roof Barrett." Kai said with a chuckle.
"Why?" Barrett questioned, and almost to spite him, it immediately began raining.
"That's why." Kai said as they all covered their heads and began running back to the truck.
They got back into the truck as they drove back to their friends who were still standing in the place they had left them.
"Wow Kai, you really did it." Izabella stated as they loaded into the truck and Barrett began driving back to the city again.
"Couldn't have done it alone." He said with a smile.
"You could've at least warned us about the rain shower, you know how long it takes to get these curls perfect every morning?" Kayla questioned as they all began laughing.
Geleel looked up at the rainy sky...it was a better sight than the rings being in the sky though, at least Earth was saved.
That was his thoughts all throughout the next day as much like before, the group stood on the roof enjoying two boxes of pizza.
Geleel looked up at the sky, only this time with a much better mood than the last time he was here, no rings, just a sunny sky, he took a sip of his strawberry lemonade as he couldn't help but be extra refreshed by it.
"So, you're not here to sulk this time?" Izabella questioned him as she walked up to him.
"Nah, I'm not that much of a miserable scrooge, we did good today, we may not understand Cronus yet and he's still out there somewhere, our fight with him is nowhere near done yet, but that doesn't matter right now,we saved our planet, we deserve this chance to relax." Geleel said as Izabella gasped.
"Woah I don't believe this, my fearless leader knows what it means to relax? Now the world is ACTUALLY ending!" Izabella shouted dramatically.
"Alright Izzy, don't make me seem like some sorta old man now." Geleel said as she playfully punched his shoulder.
"I'm just messing with you, but you might wanna come to the table, last I checked, Barrett was eyeing up your plate." Izabella shrugged as Geleel's eyes widened.
"Aye! Whoever touches my pizza is losing the hand they took it with!" Geleel shouted as everyone began laughing as they enjoyed the leisure time, they were finally a full fledged team, fighting for each other instead of their individual selves.
