Hey Arnold – Back at home (Chapter 09)

It was time for Halloween.

Arnold and Helga were helping Stella and Gertie decorating the house.

Helga: „I'm not really in the mood for this! But as long as you are on my side, i'm on it!"

Arnold: „That makes me happy, Helga! I'm sure it will be a nice evening."

Helga: „Hopefully not TOO many guests show up!"

Arnold: „Why?"

Helga: „Don't know...i would feel somewhat uncomfortable with it."

Arnold: „Don't fear, Helga. It's only friends and acquaintances of us."

Helga: „Okay, i think i can do it."

Arnold: „You like to party, what's up?"

Helga: „I'm not sure. I'm feeling insecure this time!"

Arnold: „Is there a reason for it?"

Helga: „Maybe because Rhonda revealed our relationship?!"

Arnold: „Really? That was months ago!"

Helga: „Yeah, but since then so much changed in short time! What are the guests expecting from me? How should i behave?"

Helga was getting nervous.

Arnold: „The best thing would be, if you just be YOURSELF!"

Helga: „THAT'S what i'm afraid of! Who AM i? How do the people see me? How do they WANT me to be? I cannot pretend i'm a person, that i am NOT in reality!"

Arnold: „What? NOBODY expects this from you! Hear inside you and behave just NORMAL! Nobody wants you to be exaggeratedly pleasant!"

Helga sighed. Sometimes even she does not know herself, who she really is.

Arnold hugged her and said: „I believe in you! You can do it!"

„Ohhhhhh Arnoooooold!", Helga swooned, „How do i deserve you?"

„With reason!", Arnold answered and kissed her on the mouth.

Helga was shocked, but loved every second of it.

Helga: „Okay Arnold, i'll give my best tonight!"

They are not going trick or treat anymore, but after the work they wanted to take a walk and see, what other people have decorated.

Suddenly they heared a rattling behind them.

Helga: „Are you also hearing an engine humming?"

Arnold: „Yes, sound like a chainsaw idle running."

Helga: „Who is using a chainsaw TODAY? And at this TIME?"

They turned around and saw a masked person, which reached it's chainsaw up and let it howl.

Helga: „I'm not sure what you are gonna doing, but i'm running away now!"

Arnold: „I'm coming with you!"

They were running as fast as possible, but the person with the chainsaw catched up.

Helga: „We are leaving town, if we continue runnig in this direction!"

Arnold: „But he's still behind us!"

They ran and ran, until they were flat like an old tire.

Helga: „I cannot breath anymore!"

Arnold: „My legs are hurting!"

Helga: „Where is the guy?"

Arnold: „I cannot see him anymore!"

Helga was right. They have left the town. What now? Just back the same way? Maybe he will be still there somewhere.

Helga: „I HATE HALLOWEEN! Everytime something bad happens at this day!"

Arnold sighed and said: „You're right, Helga! I'm sorry!"

Helga: „Why are sorry again? It's not your fault!"

Arnold: „I sucked you in it, only because i wanted to take a walk before the party."

Helga: „Don't exaggerate , Arnoldo! Ugh, i mean Arnold!"

Arnold: „See? You not call me that again without a reason!"

Helga: „Calm down, fottballhead!"

Arnold: „It's getting worse! What have i done? I've ruined everything!"

Helga was desperate. How could she calm him down? She was afraid to say something, because she feared to make it even worse.

Arnold teared up and cried: „Now you hate me again!"

Helga: „Nonsense! Catch a deep breath and relax!"

Arnold did so and calmed down slowly.

Arnold: „Phew! I'm sorry! I don't know what was coming over me!"

Helga: „It's okay. I'm sorry, too! I do not wanted to call you this names again!"

Arnold: „I was really afraid, that it's over!"

Helga: „What? With us?"

Arnold: „Yes, our relationship. I was afraid you are turning into your old self again."

Helga: „Don't fear! I could not stand it! You are mine, forever!"

Arnold smiled and hugged Helga.

Arnold: „Let's go back. The party is starting soon."

Helga: „I won't miss this!"

They took a taxi, because it's faster and more safe.

Some guests have already arrived.

Stella: „Hey, there you are."

Arnold: „We walked a bit to train my legs!"

Stella: „Fine!"

Helga: „I need something to drink!"

Arnold was telling Gerald what they experienced with the chainsaw guy.

Gerald: „I've heard about him. He does this every halloween."

Arnold: „Really? Have he hurt somebody?"

Gerald: „Legend says, 20 Years ago, he has processed a married couple into sausages. He is also a butcher!"

Arnold: „What? That's disgusting!"

Arnold almost puked.

Helga came back and asked: „What's up here?"

Arnold told her the Story.

Helga choked and said: „I think i will become a vegetarian!"

Arnold and Gerald laughed.

At first Helga glanced at them, but she laughed together with them.

The room was filling up more and more.

The music starts to play.

Arnold: „May i have this dance with you?"

Helga: „Sure, but what's with your injury?"

Arnold: „It's okay, if we dance slowly!"

Helga: „That's exactly what i want!"

The dance was slow, but tight.

They danced five tracks long, but then the pain sat in.

Arnold: „Sorry Helga, but the pain is too heavy now!"

Helga: „It's okay. It was still wonderful! We should dance more often."

Arnold: „You are absolutly right!"

Suddenly the lights turned off.

First the people were calm, but then their was a humming sound.

Helga screamed: „OH NO! THE CHAINSAW GUY IS BACK!"

Arnold: „Is he already inside?"

Gerald: „No, the sound came from outside."

„I punch him!", Patty said and palpates her way to the exit.

Helga: „NO! STAY HERE! IT'S TOO DANGEROUS!"

Patty: „I'm not afraid!"

Helga: „I know, but i'm afraid of you getting hurt!"

Patty: „Oh...thanks, that's nice!"

Since Patty and Helga talked it out, back then, when she not really punched Helga, but both played it like it happend, they were an good terms with each other. But Patty did not expect, that Helga cared that much about her.

Patty: „But what should we do now?"

Helga: „I don't know, but it's more safe inside, i hope!"

Arnold: „We have to prevent him from entering the house. Close all doors and windows! FAST!"

Too late! The backdoor cracked, because the maniac saw through it.

Arnold: „Up, into my room!"

All people were following him. Then Arnold closed the staircase.

Arnold: „And now one after the other go on the rooftop and then down the fire escape. And Helga, you call the police."

Helga: „Got it!"

The police was amazingly quick. It's because they have already been called many times today because of this maniac. Now they get the chance to catch him.

On the way down the guests heard shots from inside. Then the chainsaw silenced.

Gerald: „Have they killed him?"

Arnold: „Am i a clairvoyant?"

Helga: „HA! Now YOU asked a counter question!"

Arnold: „Yeah, maybe you are rubbing off on me."

Helga: „I think we are affecting each other."

Arnold: „Yeah, that's unpreventable, i think."

All were going to the front door and saw the maniac getting led away. They shot him into his arm. Without his mask he was not so frightening anymore.

Ernie and Mr. Hyunh looked after the fuse box and turned the power back on.

Stella: „Do you wanna still continue to party?"

They want!

So they got back into the house and celebrated until late night.
