It was the evening before christmas.

Arnold and Helga were watching some old movies.

Helga: „I cannot believe people back then were finding this thrilling."

Arnold: „Have been other times!"

Helga: „Right, the world was black and white back then."

Both laughed.

Helga: „But also more cozy than modern crime movies."

„You're absolutly right!", Arnold said and took her hand.

Helga: „What are you gonna up to?"

Arnold: „Is it really that unpleasant for you?"

Helga: „Ugh...no...i just mean…"

Arnold: „Don't fear, Helga. You trust me, don't you!?"

Helga: „Yes...of course i do. Sorry...sometimes i still feel so insecure...i don't know why!"

Arnold: „You don't need to apologize! We're just about half a year together!"

Helga: „But we know each other for a long time! I wish we could have found together sooner! But it's my own fault!"

Arnold: „Don't say that! I was also not ready when you told me your love before. You always have been so mean to me and then suddenly you told me you love me. Of course i was not ready then. But it helped me to realize in the jungle what you mean to me. I liked you before San Lorenzo, but since then i love you."

Helga: „I love you, too! And i am looking forward to tomorrow. At home we had not have a real christmas for so long!"

Arnold: „And for me it's the first christmas with my parents since i was a toddler."

Helga: „Oh...yeah right...maybe i should go to Olga then tomorrow."

Arnold: „Nonsense! I do not want to celebrate without you!"

Suddenly Helga kissed him right on the mouth.

Helga: „Ohhhhhh Arnold...you're my angel"

Arnold: „Are angels not female?!"

Helga: „No! Have you never seen Highway to Heaven?"

Arnold: „Ugh, no! Is it good?"

Helga: „Yes, but also very blue! Don't watch it without hankies!"

Arnold: „I'm so glad, to know your emotional side meanwhile."

Helga: „Thanks! Yes, i'm not only made out of baseball and wrestling!"

Arnold: „Why only take one, when you can have both?!"

Helga: „Right! But hey, please…"

Arnold: „I know, this side of your personality keeps our secret!"

Helga smiled and kissed him again.

Helga: „How do i deserve you?"

Arnold: „Because you are you and i love who you really are!"

She put her head onto his shoulder and they continued to watch this old movies.

Next day they have been awakened by Stella at 10AM. They were fallen asleep on the couch and the TV was still running.

Stella: „Good morning you two and merry christmas!"

Helga: „Argh...good morning, Stella! And merry christmas, too!"

Arnold: „Yawn...good morning mom and merry christmas!"

Stella: „Follow me, i've made breakfast!"

Helga: „May i have a green tee?"

Stella: „If you need it, of course!"

Helga: „Yeah, i have not sleept as good as it seems!"

At the table they met Phil, Gertie, Miles and the other residents.

Helga thinks the other residents are weird and sometimes annoying, but she liked the atmosphere on the table. And she felt christmas vibes. Everyone was calm and happy."

After breakfast Miles asked Helga: „Helga? Do you want to set the star on the treetop?"

Helga: „Really? Shoud not Arnold do that?"

Miles: „Yes, really! Arnold decorated the tree yesterday. And as a part of our family now, we want to include you more!"

Helga was touched very much and took the star with a shaky hand and put it on the top of the tree.

„It's the best christmas i ever had!", Helga said and teared up.

Stella: „Sweety, please don't cry!"

Helga: „It's okay, these are tears of joy! I've got more thoughtfulness from you in this short time, than i've got from my real parents my whole life!"

Arnold hugged her.

Miles: „Time for presents!"

Mr. Hyunh: „I don't need one, i have already everything i need!"

Helga: „I'm so sure you have!"

Arnold: „How do you mean that?"

Helga started to sweat.

Helga: „Whoa, it's really warm. I think i'm going changing my clothes!"

Then she ran upstairs.

Stella: „What's up with her? Did we do anything wrong?"

Arnold followed Helga.

Arnold: „Helga? What's up?"

Helga: „What? Nothing!"

She returned downstairs and he looked fooled.

Stella: „Fine, you're back again. Here is your present."

Helga: „Oh...you should not have...ugh...thanks!"

She opened the carton and fainted, when she saw what's inside. It have been Nancy Smumoni Snowboots!

Arnold: „HELGA!"

When she woke up, all people stood around her, concerned.

Helga: „Hehe...sorry...i was so happy that i fainted."

Stella: „Phew! I was worried you did not like them!"

Helga: „No, no! They are great! Thank you very much!"

Stella: „You're welcome!"

Arnold: „What happend to your OLD boots, you got from your parents back then?!"

Helga: „Ah...they...ugh...yes, they...uhm...i lost them! Arnold? Why are your eyes becoming so big?!"

Arnold: „IT HAS BEEN YOU! When Gerand me searched Mr. Hyunhs daughter, you still had them! After it i saw them never ever on you!"

Helga was getting hot and cold.

Arnold: „You must have exchanged them, but how did you know!?"

Helga: „I...i eavesdropped how sad you have been, after you have talked to the agency guy. And was searching all day for a present for you."

Arnold: „Really? You wanted to buy a present for me, at that time?"

Helga: „Yes! I don't know how or if i even ever would have given it to you. But you have been so sad and i could not stand that and so i was going into his office and gave him my boots, so he would search for the daughter of Mr. Hyunh. And then i led her to the borderhouse."

Arnold: „WOW! Wait...you were wearing the boots at that day! Have you gone barefoot after you gave them to him?"

Helga: „No i still had my socks on!"

Arnold: „But, the streets were full of snow!"

Helga: „Yeah, that's right! But that was not important for me right then! I wanted to bring her as fast as possible to you!"

Arnold: „Oh Helga, that was the adorable thing you have ever done! Why have you not told me all the years?"

Helga: „I did not want to earn applause or any other credit for it, i just wanted to make you happy, Arnold!"

Arnold: „And you did! And more so Mr. Hyunh!"

Mr. Hyunh: „You really are a good human being, thank you!"

Helga: „Uhm...thanks! But i am far away from being good!"

Stella: „Don't put yourself down! You proved in the jungle, that you are a good person!"

Helga: „But i only did it for Arnold, so i am a selfish brat!"

Miles: „Kid, you sometime have really strange thinking! If you've done it for HIM, it's not selfish!"

Helga: „But...ugh...really? But I wanted to see him happy, for ME! Because when he is happy, i am happy, too!"

Arnold: „Helga, admit it, you are way nicer than you think you are!"

„Oh Helga, i hope we can repair your soul in the course of time!", Stella said and hugged Helga. „You have a very twisted self-perception!"

Helga: „Maybe you're right, but back then i was still mean to Arnold."

Stella: „But you already loved him, right!?"

Helga: „I love him since preschool!"

Miles: „WOW!"

Helga: „Yeah, when it comes to Arnold, i'm a maniac, i think. Believe me, i really love him. Totally. Almost in a sick way! That's because i suffered so long untill San Lorenzo happened!"

Stella: „So you made your live a living hell by your own?!"

Helga: „Yes, and that's the reason why i still sometimes have problems to realize the positive changes. Sometimes i think, i am just dreaming all this right now!"

Arnold: „Don't fear, you're not dreaming this, my christmas angel!"

He kissed her tenderly on her mouth.

Helga: „Ohhhhhh Arnold…"

All people in the room started to smile.

Next day Helga visited Olga and her parents.

Olga was surprised to see her sister standing in front of the door.

Olga: „Helga? Oh, i', so happy to see you this christmas!"

Helga: „Yeah, happy christmas, big sister!"

Olga: „Happy chistmas for you, too!"

They entered the livingroom.

Helga: „Hi Mom, hi Dad! Merry christmas!"

Miriam: „Same to you, unknowen girl."

Bob: „Yeah, yeah, same to you, whoever you are!"

Helgas relationship with her parents has never been good, but hearing they do not remember her anymore, makes her sad.

Helga: „Okay, i am already leaving, goodbye!"

Miriam: „Was nice meeting you!"

Bob said nothing. He only watched mulish at the TV screen.

Olga looked sad at Helga and led her into the kitchen.

Helga: „They are hurt more than i thought."

Olga: „Yes, they even don't recognize ME anymore! They think i am their nurse!"

Helga: „I always hated them, but never would i have wanted them to get mentally handicapped."

Olga: „It seems they do not suffer! They are even getting along better now than before! No fights anymore! But watching TV is the only thing, they are doing now all the time!"

Helga: „We cannot do anything about it, so we have to go along!"

Olga: „You're right!"

Helga gave Olga a little present and left to have another nice christmas day with arnold and his family.

After Helga was gone, Olga opened the present and found a little locket inside. In it was a picture of her and Helga together."

„I love you, too!", Olga whispered.
