Chapter three:
"Basically all of the orphanages are way too far for you to be able to go to in person to see if anyone talked to Ra-Ra." Matt tells Mello which does frustrate the blonde a bit.
"Well there has to be someplace that we can go to in order to try to talk to someone." Mello snorts slightly leaning his body towards the red head with hope that there might be somewhere.
"Well." Matt sighs softly. "There is one orphanage that is closer to here. Though it still is pretty far. You'd have to be gone the whole day. That means skipping classes. That is if you want to get there at a good time of the day to be able to talk to the orphans without sneaking into their rooms at night while they sleep."
Mello knows that he keeps a good attendance so he has a good chance of beating Near. He also does so to show that he can be just as good as Near on things and not be seen as just someone who is trying to beat someone as good as Near. He weighs the options in his head wondering if it really would be a worthy thing to leave classes breaking his golden attendance record. He wants it to be there to show that he is determined to beat Near in the test scores. He feels like if he broke it now then they would just see him as someone who secretly doesn't actually care. He wants them to be excited to see if he managed to beat Near's test scores this time. He would lose that if he started to skip classes since they'd think he was no longer taking it seriously. He does want to know more about the two though he doesn't feel like it is worthy enough to skip his classes over it. He blinks as he thinks of an idea. "What if there was a way to get classes canceled for a day? I could sneak out then and not have to skip classes."
Matt thinks for a moment as he rolls the idea around In head to see if there is a solution for that idea. "Well…" He glances to the hopeful blonde orphan after a few moments of thinking things over. "I suppose if L were to either visit or request time to speak to the orphans then classes would be canceled."
Mello however isn't so sure that this idea is actually going to work like how they want it to. "Isn't L working on a really big and public case right now? There is no way that he would do the visit now. He'd wait until that case was over before doing either of those things. I'm not sure how long that would be though I think we should try to think of something else instead."
Matt glances away as he tries to think of another way for the classes to be canceled for a day.
Mello also tries to think of a way as well as he decides that he should help his friend out in figuring such a thing out.
The two of them think things over for a long few moments trying to quietly figure out a solution to their problem.
Mello gasps softly as finally an idea manages to reach his mind for what they could do. "That's it!" He looks to Matt with a smile as the other turns to allow their eyes to meet with this time being not through the orange lenses of Matts goggles.
Matt has them sitting on the top of his head currently so his emerald green eyes are visible.
"What if we force a day off for a teachers meeting? We could fake a message from L which would ask them to take one day off to discuss something, probably a new idea on how to further the orphans educations, then I would have a day to do this."
Matt doesn't look so sure that this is going to work. "I am not so sure that it is a good idea. I mean Roger can contact L himself. He would probably quickly figure out that it was a set up for something. And he'd know that it was me. Considering that I am the only one here with those kind of skills to pull it off. We'd be investigated as he'd even wonder if you were involved. I'm sorry Mello but I am not taking the fall for something that big alone. You can imagine how much trouble I would be in. I do everything I can to avoid that by not getting caught. This however has a high chance of us being caught."
Mello places a hand on Matt's shoulder which stops the other's worried ramble. "Roger isn't the only one who can contact L himself." He notices the blink from the red head who clearly wonders what Mello is planning to do with this. "Don't forget that we can do this too. L made sure you, me and Near could contact him. We could message him sharing the idea of a new way to further our education. Ask him if we could send a message about it to Roger as if L had sent it himself. Even when he is super busy he always finds a moment to message us back. It'll cover our bases."
Matt's gaze turns to understanding for how this could possibly be pulled off. "That might just work." He breathes out. "Damn Mello." He shakes his head with a chuckle. "You certainly know what you're doing. Remind me not to become someone you want to plot something against or anything like that." His words get a warm chuckle from Mello who lightly punches the red heads upper arm.
"I doubt that you'd ever do something to warrant such a thing." Mello shares a smile with his best friend in the whole wide world. "Leave messaging L to me. You will be getting prepared to convince Roger to spend a whole day with the teachers on going over the proposed idea."
Matt nods and with that Mello leaves the red heads room for the time being.
