The shuttle set the family down in front of the fair. Tripp took Charlie's hand while T'Pol took T'Mir's. They held on tight to the children or the children were going to run anywhere they went. Tripp was the first to step off the shuttle with T'Pol after. They moved out of the way so the shuttle could fly away and bring another group of the crew down.
Tripp made his way to the ticket counter and the Zophri smiled at them. "Hello, adults and two children."
The Zophri pulled out two red wristbands and set them on the counter. "How old are the children?"
Tripp looked at his children. He should know the age of his children. "Four and one," Tripp looked to T'Pol to confirm the age of them. T'Pol nodded. Tripp felt that she was rolling her eyes in her head.
The Zophri placed one yellow wristband and one orange wristband on the counter. They looked down at the children. "The four-year-old gets the yellow and the one-year-old gets the orange."
Tripp nodded before taking the wristbands. The family moved out of the way so the next one in line could get in. Tripp handed one of the reds and the orange to T'Pol. Tripp leaned down and put the yellow on Charlie's wrist.
"Daddy, did you forget how old I was?" Charlie smiled.
Tripp looked down at Charlie. He realized that his son wasn't a baby anymore. He was growing up. There was a intelligence in his eyes that Tripp knew that he was going to be smart. Tripp knew that he got that from his mother. Tripp returned his smile. "Maybe for one second."
Charlie laughed. It was music to his ears. Tripp put on his own wristband before taking Charlie's hand again. He saw that T'Pol was done with her and T'Mir. They went into the fair. There was a Zophri standing there with maps to the fair and Tripp took one. They stepped to the side to look at the map.
"It looks like each zone is color coded," T'Pol pointed to the yellow and orange zone. There was a red zone for adults only. There were also zones that were mixture of all the colors. Tripp wondered if that was food.
"Should we go," Tripp smiled at Charlie and T'Mir. Both children nodded. Tripp and T'Pol took the children's hands. They made their way to the yellow and orange zone.
There was a gateway that led to the zone. There was a Zophri standing there with a smile on their face. They looked at each wristband before opening the gate. The family stepped into a world of color and laughter.
Tripp looked around and saw rides and games for the kids. The prizes were colorful and would catch a child's eye. Tripp stepped to one of the rides to see that it was color coded to let them know who could go on the ride. It had yellow, orange, and red. Tripp looked down to Charlie. "Do you think we should try this one?" Charlie nodded. Tripp turned to T'Pol. "We can all go on this."
T'Pol shook her head. "I think that you should just take the children," T'Pol started to hand T'Mir's hand to Tripp.
Tripp didn't take it. He looked at Charlie. "Do you think that Mama should come with us?" Tripp knew that T'Pol couldn't say no to the children.
Charlie reached for his mother's hand. "Yes," He pulled her hand towards. T'Pol threw Tripp a look as they went to stand in line to get on the ride.
T'Pol leaned closer to him. "I'm going to kill you later," All Tripp did was smile.
After the ride, where Tripp had heard the laughter of his children, T'Pol gave him a look. Charlie was pulling Tripp to the next ride. "You are going to die, Tripp," T'Pol mumbled. Tripp only smiled and let Charlie led him to the next ride.
Early afternoon, Tripp and T'Pol took the children out of the orange and yellow zone to go and find something to eat.
Charlie looked up at his father. "I don't want to leave," His bottom lip was trembling.
Tripp sighed. "We are going to get lunch and come back," Charlie was ready to start crying when Tripp got down to his level. "Or we can go back to the ship, and you can go down for a nap."
Charlie wiped his face with the back of his hand. "No, I'll be a good boy."
Tripp nodded, stood, and took Charlie's hand. T'Pol gave him a look before following him out. Tripp gave her a small grin. They found the food court and there were Zophri everywhere. Tripp tried to find a table for his family to sit at. They found a table that was big enough to hold ten people. Tripp sat down with the children while T'Pol went to get something for her and the children. Tripp was glad that his children weren't picky eaters when T'Pol came back with two steamy plates of vegetables. Tripp helped get the children to eat before getting something to eat for himself.
"Do you mind if we join you?" Tripp looked up from his plate to see Travis and Hoshi standing there with plates of food. They both had red wristbands on their wrists.
"Go ahead," Tripp pointed to the other side of the table that was empty. Travis and Hoshi took a seat.
Hoshi started to talk to Charlie about how much fun he was having. Charlie told her all about the rides that he had gone on. Some other Starfleet crew came and found a seat next to them.
"Commanders." Hoshi said as Tripp and T'Pol were picking up the plates to throw away. "In a few hours, Travis and I have to be back on the ship, if you would like we can take the children and you can spend some time without the children."
Tripp traded a look with T'Pol and thought that it might be good for them to spend some alone time together. He couldn't remember the last time they spent time just the two of them. They were either working or in their quarters with their children. It would be nice to show T'Pol how much he loved her to reassure her that he was never leaving her or their children.
"That would be great, Hoshi," Tripp smiled. "We'll meet you at the front and you can take the children from there." Hoshi nodded.
Tripp gathered the children and left the others. Tripp and T'Pol went back to orange and yellow zone. They let the children have their fun. Tripp couldn't shake the smile on his face as he watched his children have fun. Charlie had won a toy from a game he played, and he gave it to T'Mir who was holding out her hands for it.
Tripp and Charlie were standing in a line when Tripp gave Charlie a side hug. "That was a nice thing to do," Charlie looked up at him with a curious look. "For giving your sister the toy."
Charlie shrugged his shoulders. "I didn't really like it and T'Mir liked it." Tripp's heart swelled with so much love for his son.
The next couple of hours went quickly. Charlie won a prize for himself and was glad to show it off. They headed back to the front of the fair where they found Hoshi and Travis waiting for them. "You be good for Hoshi and Travis," Tripp told Charlie nodded. Tripp handed Charlie to Travis. Tripp had a feeling that Charlie and T'Mir would be asleep before they reached the ship.
Tripp and T'Pol watched their children go with Hoshi and Travis before Tripp grabbed T'Pol's hand. Now it was time to be the couple that they were. Tripp led T'Pol to the red zone. They showed their wristbands before entering.
It was completely different than the yellow and orange zone. There were adults walking around either as a group or a couple. There was a stage where someone was playing soft music. It sounded like something romantic. Tripp led T'Pol over to the stage, as they walked, they passed games and restaurants. Tripp saw a restaurant that looked promising for their dinner later.
In front of the stage were chairs for people to sit. Tripp led T'Pol to a couple of seats together in the middle row. Once they were sitting, Tripp wrapped an arm around T'Pol. He leaned closer. "I hope that the music is okay for your sensitive ears."
T'Pol threw him a look before turning back to the stage. Tripp heard the music, but he kept watching T'Pol as they heard the music. He could tell that she was enjoying the music and Tripp let out a smile. It has been a while since they had been alone. They were either working or had the children with them. When they were done with their service to the Enterprise, Tripp told himself that they would go out once a week to remind them that they were a couple.
They stayed for one set before getting up and seeing what else was in the red zone. There were shops that they went into looking at the wares but didn't buy anything. They came out of a shop.
"Do you want to win that beautiful lady a prize?" Tripp heard someone yell. He looked around to see who this person was calling out to. The Zophri was looking right at him. Tripp pointed to himself. The Zophri nodded.
Tripp looked at the game and realized that it was a game that reminded him of something at home called whack-a-mole. He was always good at that game with his siblings. He somehow always won, and his siblings always hated him for it. Tripp turned to T'Pol. "Should I win you a prize?"
"No," T'Pol shook her head.
Tripp smiled as he turned to the Zophri. "Sure," He walked up. The Zophri smiled like it was going to be hard for Tripp to win. Tripp knew that he was alien and didn't know to the game. The Zophri showed him how to play the game. Tripp was right it was like whack-a-mole.
Tripp gripped the handle of the hammer as the game started. Tripp hit every one of the targets for the next thirty seconds. At the end of the game, the Zophri had a look of surprise on his face. "How?" He got out somehow.
Tripp smiled. "So, what is my prize?"
The Zophri reached behind and pulled out a big animal that was native to Zophr and handed it to Tripp. Tripp thanked him before handing the animal to T'Pol. She took it and raised one eyebrow. Tripp leaned forward and kissed her. He knew that she was going to treasure that forever. "Only for you," Tripp said. He grabbed T'Pol's hand. "Thank you," Tripp said to the Zophri as they walked away. "Are you hungry?" Tripp asked.
"Yes," T'Pol held on to her prize. Tripp nodded and led her to the restaurant that they had passed by earlier.
They entered the restaurant and the host smiled when they saw them. "Good evening, how many?"
"Two," Tripp held up two fingers. The host nodded and led them to a table in the center of the restaurant. It was set for two. The host held out a chair for T'Pol to take. Tripp took his seat.
"Would you like to try some Dhormaulage?" The host asked.
"What does it taste like?" Tripp asked. The host described the drink and to Tripp it sounded like wine. "Would you like to try it?" He knew that T'Pol wasn't big on alcohol but sometimes she would have a glass of wine.
"Sure," T'Pol said. The host nodded and handed each a menu.
Tripp couldn't read a word on the menu. He looked up at T'Pol to see if she could read what was on the menu. He gave her a small half smile. "You can't read it either," T'Pol shook her head.
The host didn't come back with the wine, but the waiter that was serving them. He gave them each a glass of wine. "Did you decided on what you would like?" The waiter asked.
Tripp smiled at the waiter. "There seems to be a problem, my wife and I can't read the menu because we are not from this world. What is your popular dish?" Tripp asked. The waiter smiled and told Tripp what their popular dish was. It was some kind of meat dish that Tripp knew that he would like. Tripp looked at T'Pol and knew that she wasn't going to like it. "I take that," He told the waiter. He was ready to ask when he heard.
"Do you have anything that vegetarian?" T'Pol asked.
"Yes, we do," The waiter smiled and told T'Pol their popular dish.
T'Pol nodded. "I'll take that," The waiter left them to put their order in.
Tripp reached for his glass of wine and took a sip. The wine tasted great. It tasted fruity to Tripp and not vinegary like Earth wine. "You should try it," He held his glass so T'Pol could see. T'Pol reached for her glass and took a sip of it. She took another one. Tripp smiled because she liked it.
Tripp reached for T'Pol's hand and held on it as they talked about what their lives would be like outside a spaceship. They both knew that they would probably work for Starfleet because they felt that Starfleet wasn't going to let them go. They were both happy that they were taking the next step in their lives together.
The waiter brought their food and it smelled great. The waiter also filled their glasses with more wine. Tripp raised an eyebrow at T'Pol, she usually only had one glass. T'Pol just narrowed her eyes at him as she took another sip. Tripp let out a chuckle before taking a bite of his food and realizing how good it was.
After the meal, they stood, and Tripp saw that T'Pol wasn't steady on her feet. He chuckled, grabbed the prize he won for her, and wrapped an arm around her. "Let's get you home," Tripp steered T'Pol to the door.
"It's only logical that I walk on my own," T'Pol pushed out of Tripp's arms.
Tripp watched as T'Pol tried to walk. He had to keep from laughing because he has seen many men and women trying to walk. He waited until she took a wrong step and she was ready to fall when he reached for her. He held on to her. "I think that you need my help," Tripp whispered in her ear.
"It's only logical," T'Pol mumbled. Tripp couldn't hold it in anymore and started laughing. "It's not right that you are laughing at your wife," T'Pol tried to hit him but missed him. It only made Tripp laugh harder. "I hate you."
Tripp kissed the side of T'Pol head. "No, you don't." Tripp had led him out of the fair grounds and to the waiting shuttle that was waiting for the crew. "Are we the last?" Tripp asked.
"No, sir," The crewmember smiled when he saw Commander T'Pol. "But I'll take you back now," There was a laugh in his voice.
Tripp threw him a look before holding on to T'Pol as the shuttle flew away. Once they got to ship, Tripp got T'Pol back to their quarters. He opened the door to see Hoshi sitting on the couch, reading a PADD. She took one look at T'Pol. "Both kids are asleep. I'll see you tomorrow," Hoshi laughed as she left.
Tripp shook his head as he led T'Pol to their bedroom. He got her undressed and put her into bed. She was asleep before her head hit the pillow. Tripp smiled before changing and getting into bed with his wife.
