I don't own the Loud House

Broken Home to Warm Home Chapter 1

"Where are they?" Lincoln hastened his movements, stuffing whatever he could into two bags. "Where are they? Both of them are going to get it?" Voices called out in loud rage. "I need to hurry and get us both out of here." Lincoln finished packing their belongings and sneaked back to his room. Upon returning, he found his little sister Lucy waiting for him, scared.

Upon seeing Lincoln, Lucy ran towards him and exclaimed, "Lincoln, what's happening? I'm scared," her voice trembling. Lincoln gazed at Lucy and firmly declared, "We're leaving this nightmare behind." Lucy, taken aback by his resolve, asked, "But how?" She was eager to understand how they would escape their abusive step-parent this time. Lincoln had been devising their escape for the last four weeks. Now, confident that his plan was set, he knew it was time to put it into action.

Lincoln handed Lucy additional bags filled with her clothes, a PB&J sandwich, a flashlight, a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and some snacks. As they heard the door begin to move, they knew it was time to leave. Lucy slung the bag over Lincoln's shoulder. They clung to the vent, thankful that Lucy knew its layout well. Once they reached the vent's end, they opened it and emerged onto the roof. That stupid bratz on the roof tried to escape. Their stepfather's voice was tinged with anger. "OK, we need to go now," Lincoln said. He and Lucy ran down to the base of the apartment building. Lincoln rummaged through his bag and, after a moment, found what he was searching for—a rope.

Lincoln secured the rope to the air vent, ensuring it was tight, and then threw it down to reach the bottom. "Are you ready to leave this nightmare behind?" Lincoln asked his twin sister, Lucy. "Yes," Lucy replied, ready to embark on a new beginning. As they climbed down the rope, fear was present, but their determination to leave everything behind was stronger. They could hear their stepfamily searching in panic, but it was too late; Lincoln and Lucy had reached the bottom and escaped. Once on the ground, Lincoln grabbed Lucy's arm, and they ran to the street. Ensuring they were a safe distance from the apartment, they finally took a breath. A few moments later, they felt relief, knowing the nightmare was over, at least for now. Suddenly, Lincoln felt something drop onto his hand. Looking up, he realized it had begun to rain.

Seeking shelter from the storm, Lincoln finds a box large enough for him and Lucy. Once inside, they are safe. Lucy notices Lincoln's distress and expresses concern. Lincoln shares his pain from their past experiences with cruel families. They recall the violence they faced when seeking help, showing each other their bruises and cuts. Lucy questions why they are labeled as monsters and subjected to beatings. Lincoln reassures her that they are not monsters, comforting her. Lucy admits her distrust in others, and Lincoln empathizes, suggesting they try to sleep. Agreeing, they both begin to drift off, unaware that their lives are about to change forever.

Nearby, a van was cruising down the street. Inside, a couple was on their way home. "It's been a long day," Lynn Sr. remarked, but his wife Rita was silent, gazing out the window with a sad look. "Honey, is everything okay?" Lynn Sr. asked, concern lacing his voice. Rita turned to her husband. "Yes, it's just that we have a big family with only ten daughters. I wouldn't mind another daughter, but I long for a son," she said, her gaze returning to the window. "I understand how you feel, dear. I would love another daughter too, but I also yearn for a son," he replied. Before he could continue, Lynn Sr. and Rita noticed a white figure moving in the distance.

"What was that on the street?" Rita asked, concerned. "I don't know, but we're going to figure it out," Lynn Sr. replied. They got out of the van and followed the figure's direction. After a few minutes, Lynn Sr. and Rita arrived at the spot where they had seen the figure. What they found there terrified them: a white lion, four feet tall and weighing up to 530 pounds. They were petrified, but Rita noticed a large box to the right that moved and then bit. "Lynn, I think there's something inside that box," Rita said, pointing at it. Lynn Sr. looked where his wife was pointing and saw something in the box, now worried that the lion would discover it.

"Lynn, what are we going to do?" Rita asks, covering her mouth with fear. Lynn Sr. scans the area and spots a rock. "Don't worry, honey, I think I know what to do," Lynn replies. He picks up a rock and hurls it towards another district, distracting the lion and causing it to chase after the noise. "Great idea, dear," Rita says, impressed. "It's no big deal. Now, let's see what's in that box." They walk towards the box, keeping an ear out for the lion in case it returns. After a few seconds, they reach the box. "Okay, I'll keep a lookout for the lion; you check what's inside the box," Lynn Sr. tells his wife, who nods and opens the box to look inside.

"OMG," Rita exclaimed loudly. Lynn turned to her, speaking with concern, "What happened? Is the lion back?" "No, there are two kids in the box," Rita replied, worried. "WHAT?" Lynn shouted, then peered into the box and saw two children. To the right was a boy with white hair, dimples, and his shirt and pants half-torn. He had a black eye on the right, three cuts on each arm, and several bruises on his face. To the left, there was a girl with black hair covering her face, wearing torn and disheveled clothes, a black eye on the left, four bruises on her arm and face, and some cuts on her leg. "What happened to them?" Rita and Lynn Sr. covered their mouths in disbelief. Rita reached out to wake them. After a few seconds, Lucy began to stir. Upon seeing Rita and Lynn Sr., she screamed, which caused her brother Lincoln to wake up and take in their presence.

Wait hold on we not going to... Before Rita gets done Linclin pushes her arm back and protects Lucy from them. Don't you dare hurt my sister? Lincoln says anger. Lynn Sr and Rita were surprised after seeing this and they don't know what happened to them but one thing they need to help them and get out of this rain storm. Hey, don't worry we not going to hurt you we just want to help. Lynn Sr says trying to calm them down. Yeah, we not going to hurt you. Rita says. Lincoln I'm scared. Lucy spoke out terrified and starting to show tears. Lincoln ran up to her hugging her and comforting her. Don't cry Lucy I'm here. Lincoln tried his best to calm her down. Lynn and Rita look at each other and back at them to see this.

"Lincoln, Lucy," Rita called out, catching their attention. "We don't know what happened, but do you have a home to go to? We can call your parents so they can—" She was cut off by Lucy's scream. "No, I don't want to go back; they're mean!" This revelation surprised both Rita and Lynn Sr., prompting them to inquire further. "Why don't you want to go home?" Lynn Sr. asked. Lucy, visibly frightened, hesitated, but a boy with white hair spoke up. "They hurt us," Lincoln revealed, shocking Rita and Lynn Sr. "They hurt us all the time, for no reason. They punish us for even the smallest mistakes and call us monsters that shouldn't have been born," Lincoln confessed, still embracing Lucy to soothe her. "You two don't deserve such treatment. What you need is a loving family and a warm home," Rita said, causing Lincoln and Lucy to look at them. "We do," Lucy admitted, still somewhat anxious. "We'd like you to live with us if you'd like," Lynn Sr. offered in a gentle tone. "You won't hurt us, right?" Lincoln asked, still wary. "We promise we won't hurt you," Lynn Sr. and Rita assured, reaching out to them. Lincoln and Lucy exchanged glances, then looked back at them, reaching out to show their trust.

After ensuring the lion was no longer a threat, Lynn Sr., Rita, Lincoln, and Lucy clung to the van. Lincoln and Lucy, still frightened, eventually trusted enough to enter the van, finding solace in their loving family. As they drove away, about ten minutes later, Rita glanced back to see the children asleep, comforted by the thought that their nightmarish past in a broken home was behind them, and a new chapter with a caring and loving family was beginning.
