Chapter 5: Fight or Flight
The sun was setting and Takato, Henry, Rick and Lissa were to find a hideout spot for Guilmon. Guilmon, Terriermon, Dracomon and Palmon were playing while the tamers were talking. "So your Takato, right? Lissa mentioned you a few times." Henry asked. "That's right, you were the one who I saw at school yesterday." Takato said. "When Guilmon came to school looking for you. My name is Henry." Henry replied. "Also Takato, Henry and I are in the classroom at school." Lissa added. "Ah, that explains how you two knew each other already." Takato responded. "At least all of us here go to the same school, except the Digimon Queen of course." Rick chimed in. "How can she think of the Digimon as fighting machines? Look at them." Henry said as their Digimon partners are playing. "Yea, usually what the Digimon want to do is eat. Like when Guilmon raided the cafeteria, I knew it was time to find a place with a lock." Takato said. "Hey, he might saved our lives. It was only a matter of time till they poisoned us." Henry joked. "Not wrong about that." Rick added on jokingly. "Now there's an idea. Guilmon can be our official food taster." Takato said. "Only problem with that is we would go hungry." Rick chimed in. "No kidding there." Lissa added.
Terriermon was on Guilmon's head still having fun. "Hey, I'm hungry." "But you just ate Terriermon." Henry responded. "So what's your point? Momentai." Terriermon says as he rolls off Guilmon's head. "Hate to say it Henry, its hard to fill up a digimon's stomach with our portions of food." Rick said. "You got that right. Feeding Palmon is hard enough, until we figured she can get nutrients from good soil." Lissa added. "Hey, doesn't mean I wont stop eating your kind of food." Palmon chimed in. Terriermon climbs on Henry back. "Okay, Dinner time." Henry said as he walks out of the hide out. "See you around." Takato said. "Takatomon I'm hungry too." Guilmon said. Takato chuckles a bit. "See what you started and what does Momentai mean? Takato asked. Terriermon turns around. "Havent you figured out, it means take it easy." Lissa chimes in, "To be honest I didn't know at first, until Terriermon told me a few days back." Rick looks in the sky, "Sun's almost gone. Better hurry on home. We'll see you guys later. Come along now Dracomon." Rick says as he leaves the hideout with Dracomon following behind. "See you guys around." Dracomon said.
It was night time, Takato and Lissa returned to their home. "Hey Mom, we're home." Takato says. As they enter the door, the twins saw Jeri buying something from the bakery. "Say hi to your mom for me." Mrs, Matsuki said to Jeri. "I will Mrs. Matsuki." Jeri replied. Takato was blushing when he Jeri. Jeri got close to them and whispered. "Don't worry Takato, I didn't tell your mom you ditched school." It surprised Takato a little bit but he responds, "Jeri, thanks a lot." Jeri gives a smile and then runs on home which put Takato in a bit of a daze. Lissa couldn't help but giggle at this maybe future relationship. "Did you find a home for that cardboard box, son? I know it must been hard, but at least you did get attached." Mr. Matsuki said in sad tone which confused the twins a bit , but they knew what it meant. Some time went by and Takato decided to take some bread over to Guilmon's hideout for him to eat something. Lissa decided to go with him just in case he got into trouble again. The twins got to the Hideout where Guilmon is, but, "Hey Guilmon. Chow time!" Takato was first to notice the Guilmon did a bit of redecorating. "What did you do this place?" Takato asked. "What happened little brothe- Whoa. Guilmon sure did rearranged this place.." Lissa chimed in. "I made it bigger. Now I'm very slow.." Guilmon said. "I think you mean sleepy." Takato corrected. "Beddy bye, Nappy time Takatomon.." Guilmon says very sleepily. "Uh-oh, watchout Takato I he's gonna-" Lissa tried to warn but was too late and Guilmon fell asleep on Takato. "No more peanut butter for you. I hope he doesn't sleep as much he eats." Takato said. "Doubt it, a digimon's appetite can never be out done by anything." Lissa replied. Takato then had a thought. "I wonder if Digimon have dreams? If they do, its probably about food." Takato says as he climbs out from under Guilmon. "Maybe for Guilmon. Maybe not for Palmon." Lissa added.
It was the next day, and the school day was coming to an end. "Alright kids, settle down. I still have a minute of your time and I intend to use every second of it." Ms. Asaji says, but the school bell and she sighs. "Apparently I still had a minute of your time. That's it for today." Kazu was looking up at the ceiling, "I think I'm a natural to win the tournament this year." "Yea, you'll beat me first." Takato chimed in. "You guys are delusional, you aren't even in those players league." Kenta added. "Am too. A girl won it last year." Kazu said. "That was not just a girl." Kenta added. "Oh, you must mean the Digimon Queen." Rick says as he walks up to the group. "Yea, and apparently she lives around here too." Kazu added. "She gonna wipe the floor of your sorry butt." Kenta said. "Don't think so. She just never met her match yet. Wait and see Chumley, she'll be begging me for mercy." Kazu responded. "I need to find her." Takato said. Rick got a surprised look. "Takato are you sure that's a good idea? That's just asking for trouble." "Dude I can't believe what you said. Are you saying you need a girl? You're out of the club buddy. Hello?" Kazu said. Takato was spaced out until Jeri chimed in. "Takato needs a girl? What for? Will I do?" Takato starts blushing when he saw Jeri. "Hey Jeri." Rick greeted her. "Unless you can beat the Digimon queen. Now that's a battle I'd pay money to see." Kenta said. "Boys can be so weird. What's so great about fighting?" Jeri asked. "Show how much you know about being a boy. Its how we keep score. Anyway, I've seen a couple of girl who like a good fight." Kazu said. "That's.. more of debatable topic in my opinion." Rick said. "I'm sure you have. Lots of them." Jeri said sarcastically as ran to join her friends giggling. "I think we lost that round guys." Takato said.
Rick decided to join Takato to see Guilmon, until they spotted some vehicles with high tech equipment on them. As they were looking Lissa manages to catch up with them. "Hey do you guys see this?" Lissa said. "Its weird. Wonder if its secret government operation for capturing criminals or aliens." Takato replied. "We should really go check on Guilmon and fast." Rick chimed in. The trio goes to Guilmon's hideout but when they got there, he was not in there. "They must have taken. I've should've hidden him better." Takato said with worry. "Hold on, lets not jump to that conclusion yet. He could still be around. Lissa, did you show him all the features of his D-Ark?" Rick asked. "Not all of them, but I could him now. Little brother there's a tracker on your D-Ark that can find your partner. Take it out and it should automatically detect him." Lissa explained. Takato takes his D-ark and it start tracking Guilmon. "You're right, there he is. Now lets see. There, over there. How does this thing work? Wait, bull's eye baby." Takato said as his D-ark points to a couple of bushes. "Guilmon? Come on, Guilmon are you in there?" Takato says as he, Lissa and Rick walks towards the bush. "I win! Lets play again!" Guilmon said happily. "You gave us quite the scare buddy." Takato said as he goes to hug Guilmon. "Guilmon, remember what we said, you cant just wander off on your own. Its not safe" Lissa added. "Yea, something bad can happen to you." Rick added. "Nothing bad will happen, when Takatomon is with me." Guilmon said. "I have an idea. Its crazy but it should work." Takato said.
"Now remember Guilmon, you are a guy in a suit." Takato told Guilmon. Lissa and Rick were a little nervous. "Its crazy, but we'll trust him." Rick said. The plan was actually working. There were some stares, but nothing that would cause anyone to freak out. As they were walking a kid with his mother spots Guilmon. "Hey look mom. A Digimon!" the kid said. Takato came up with a quick cover story. "It's a costume. You know for Halloween." "But I never seen that one before." The kid said. "Its because I made him up myself. His name is Guilmon." Takato replied. "Wow! Mom look it! It's a neat costume!" the kid said excitedly. "You're going as a scrarecrow and you going to like it!" the kid's mother said as they walk off. "That was a little harsh of the mother wasn't it?" Lissa asked. "Kinda, but at least the plan is working." Rick replied. At the same time, all three of their D-arks start beeping. "That's weird. Check this out you guys, What could this mean?" Takato asked. "Only one idea, a potential Digimon could be nearby." Rick said. Lissa agree to Rick's statement. As they thinking Guilmon start to run off on his own again and trio follows him. "I wonder if Palmon and Dracomon are on their way when our D-ark were beeping?" Rick wondered. "I actually hope so." Lissa replied.
The trio, followed Guilmon into a parking garage. There they met a familiar girl and Kitsune Digimon again. "It's you again." Takato said. "Oh great. The Ice Queen returns once again." Lissa chimed in. "There's no avoiding you is there, Rika?" Rick asked. "Nothing gets past you guys is there. Now are you ready to fight this time. Is your little dinosaur out of its diaper yet?" Rika taunted. Lissa was annoyed, "You're lucky my partner is not here yet Ice Queen." "Yea, yea. When she get here, she's next after dino boy here." Rika said. "This is so stupid, why your digimon wanna fight Guilmon anyway? He hasn't done single thing to her." Takato says to Rika. "That's what Digimon do they fight. When they win they become stronger and they become stronger they digivolve." Rika replies, but Rick cuts in. "That's not true Rika. You're missing the point of how digivolving works." "Really? Then how average joe?" Rika said with insult. "Its hard to explain, all I can answer is with a riddle. Only through a strong bond can help your partner." Rick said. "Lame explanation." Rika. "This is ridiculous. You cant have your Digimon attack!" Takato shouted. When he said Guilmon started attacking. "Guilmon, no!" Lissa shouted. "Come back! I didn't mean you to attack!" Takato tried to command Guilmon. "Pyro Sphere!" Guilmon fire his attack Renamon but she dodges and the attack blows up a car. Renamon retaliates, "Diamond Storm!" Her attack still seems to bounce of Guilmon doing little to no damage. Guilmon tties to intimidate her with a roar, but it doesn't faze her. "Oh, was suppose to scare me?" Renamon taunted. "What is going on here?" Henry and Terriermon had arrived on the scene, but they were not alone. Dracomon and Palmon were with him too. "Thank goodness you came." Takato was relieved. "Dracomon, you made it too!" Rick was happy to see him. "Palmon! Thank goodnees!" Lissa was also happy. "Don't make me laugh. Do you think those weenies of a Digimon can beat Renamon?" Rika said. "Who are calling a weenie? I think that qualifies as rude." Terriermon replied. "Definitely rude, no joke." Dracomon agreed. "Lady? I rather put you in place right now." Palmon said. "Stop it. There's a lot of I don't understand. Its true on the net, Digimon were born to fight, but there were meant to fight here." Henry insisted. "You see they came here to get something they cant get on the net. What is it?" Henry added. "When you figure it out, let me know Socrates. Until then, Renamon, you know what I expect." Rika commanded. "As you wish." Renamon prepares to attack. Renamon jumps, "Diamond Storm!" but as she attack Terriemon runs in front of Guilmon stopping him. This surprised Renamon, "Get back!" knowing she can cancel her attack.
Her attack blew up a car next Guilmon and Terriermon which made Henry worried for Terriermon. As he was running, his D-ark started glowing. "That glow it was like when-" Rick pauses and then Lissa finishes his sentence. "our partners digivloved the first time." From Henry's D-ark it said, "Digivolution." "Terriermon digivolve to…!" Terriermon's data structure was changing which reveal a green data grid. His feet grew, his body grew and his arms became gatling guns. Last part to restructure was his head. From the data cocoon revealed his new form and name. "Gargomon!" Gargomon shouted. This shocked Henry, "He promised he wouldn't do it." "That's Terriermon?! No way!" Takato said surprised. Even though he digivolve, Gargomon couldn't control himself and started to fire his guns all over the place. Destroying the cars by accident. "I knew this would happen he's not ready for that kind of firepower yet." Henry said as everyone took cover, except Rika who analyzed Gargomon. "Gargomon, Terriermon's champion form. His special attack is Gargo Laser, whatever that means." "This the first time we've seen something like this." Rick said. Lissa agreed, "Yea, our digimon partners didn't go out control like this." Takato and Henry overheard. "What do you mean?" Takato asked. "Let's worried about that later. As much as I don't like the Ice Queen, she really needs help now!" Lissa said noticing Rika face to face with an out-of-control Gargomon. This was the first time they saw fear in Rika's face. Renamon was not gonna make it. "Guilmon!" Takato calls out. Guilmon was rushing in and headbutts Gargomon through a wall. "That's a hard head." Henry said witnessing what had happened. "That hard head saved the day." Dracomon added. "Rather him save her than me. It would have left a bad taste in my mouth." Palmon chimed in. Rika was still in shock after experiencing that. Making her think if all Digimon are like that when go to the next level.
