I don't own Naruto, which is a disgrace.

Chapter 1

A Beginner Event

Childish laughter and adult praises traded back and forth in front of the red and white building known as the ninja Academy. In Konoha the village hidden in the leaves the academy for those soon to be ninja had just let out after all the hard work and studies were now over. Many now get to shower themselves in their parents or guardians, praises and well wishes for a job well done. Some achieving great things like passing earlier than their peers while others simply regaling that day's assignments and how they couldn't wait to be just like their favorite ninja.

However off to side hidden under the shade of a tree sitting among the branches right above an old rope swing watching with melancholy and longing through stark ocean blues. Was a boy named Naruto Uzumaki. He watched as his classmates would smile and excitedly talk to parents and guardians all while receiving kisses and hugs filled with happiness and bright hopes for their futures. He watched this until slowly but surely one by one they left to go celebrate or just enjoy being a family with one another. Being one of the few orphans who were not picked by a family always hurt deep down.

While most days his can-do attitude and never give up hopefulness saw him through it was days like this after a major milestone where so many adults' parents and guardians alike would crowd outside that sometimes just hit him like a punch in the gut. A clear reminder of what he didn't have and according to some would never have. And while normally such thoughts would be pushed away from his eleven-year-old mind in seconds. It would always come back on days like today where some of his peers started with a leg up and start their career as ninjas early, while some like himself would wait until their actual graduation. And while he was okay with waiting it just was hard when he could see his peers gaining the strength and knowledge to pass early and for him after three years barely felt any improvement despite all his hard efforts.

So sometimes he found himself here in his tree just watching and wondering how such things would play out if he had a family like them. It wasn't long before the bright shining sun turned that burned orange and all the children and their families left. Prompting Naruto to jump from his perch slap his cheeks together and gain his famous mega-watt grin to once more push such feels away and to thrive forward. Though even with his grin and boaster attitude his grin didn't go right under his eyes nor did his sea blue eyes twinkle with that all powerful confidence.

And so, with his hands behind his head he took a short cut to his home through the woods of the different parks and training grounds unconsciously avoiding the people of the leaf. He walked on to enjoy the cool spring breeze as he passed the robust modest homes and businesses to get to the old worn down or simply abandoned homes and businesses of the red-light district. The streets were lined with brothels on either side with late night food stalls and seedy casinos that lit up as soon as the last of ray of light died out.

For many the red-light district is where you come to find decadence and gratification. With the Red lanterns that gave the district its name hung just about everywhere along with the sizzle of hot food and the wanton catcalls of the ladies of the night. Yes, for many the district is many things yet for Naruto it is home.

Once at his apartment building, he went up the stairs and the grin on his face went full as he saw a scroll with a purple ribbon on his doormat. Seeing it made him giddy as he grabbed it, he opened his door quickly before slamming it back then racing to his couch. He pull the purple ribbon gently then sliding the scroll open slowly catching a faint feminine scent of fresh flowers as he opened the scroll and read the contents.

Dear Naruto-kun,

I'm happy you enjoyed the ramen I made so I made sure to put extra in today's batch. I hope you enjoy them. Me and Mitsuki-chan are doing great. Though I think I may have given her too much sun today because when I got back from the academy, I found these yellow spots on her leaves near the stem. I'm hoping she isn't sick. I'll keep watch and let you know.

My sister really enjoyed your gift idea! I was a little nervous to ask my father for a picture of mother, but when I explained why I wanted it he smiled! I had one made for him too, but I gave it to him after the party. Thank You for telling me of that little shop I don't think I would have gotten such a great gift otherwise! I'm glad you're my friend naruto.

So please don't be too sad that you didn't pass the early grad exams. I know you really wanted to do it, but it's ok, two more years will fly by! I copied the notes like usual, so you didn't miss anything. I have faith you'll pull through I know it even if you fail now. No ninja gets left behind! I'll be rooting for you, plus maybe we can meet after we pass. If you want to.

Your Best Friend,

Hitomi-chan

Naruto grinned as his eyes roamed over the scroll reading the letter his best friend left. It was always nice to hear from Hitomi-chan plus her gifts were the best. It was almost a year ago that he started to get the mysterious scrolls left by someone named Hitomi-chan. At first, he thought someone was trying to play a prank on him and he tried several times to catch this Hitomi-chan, but she somehow eluded him at every turn. Knowing exactly what trap he left and how to bypass it completely without setting it off, even giving him hints to make it better.

After a while he just accepted whatever was given to him, which was usually a note and some strange symbols on the bottom. He felt a little embarrassed when Hitomi pointed out by the third letter that she sealed some gifts in there along with instructions on how to use sealing scrolls. But once that was over, he really started to bond with her that and the food she leaves him to try is added to his food of gods list right with Ichiraku Ramen.

He now looks forward to the daily letters she sends and even though he knows she's a girl in his class they have never met once in person. Or at least he doesn't think so Hitomi says she's very shy and wants to work up the nerve to talk to him face to face, so she decided to help herself and him by writing letters. Naruto still tried to find out who she was for a solid month before finally deciding to wait for her to show him when she was ready.

Over the past year they became best friends, and he knew her now almost as well as she knew him. Well as well as he can know someone without knowing what they looked like. Not that it stopped them from being close. After he finished reading, he opened the scroll further to see the sealing seal and with a brief press of chakra from his hand like she instructed in a puff of smoke later he had assortment of food before him. From crispy crunchy skin of the Karaage to the savory roasted aroma that is Gyoza. To the simple side of fried rice, it was fried rice cooked to perfection with the golden color of the rice alongside the yellow peals of fried egg that shown like diamonds in rough. With superb chopped green onions that completed the dish sprinkled throughout like fresh grass peeking up through the snow during the first signs of spring.

But the main course, naruto had long agreed with himself that tears fixed nothing and refused to shed them. But upon smelling that deep, rich-savory, salty-sweet luxuriance of a flavor that is miso. Seeing the long crunchy vines of menma sticking out the broth like mere mortals stretching their fingers to the gods. With the alluring eye-catching white and red spiral that was his namesake sitting comfy with its brothers relaxing against the succulent slices of braised pork that is chashu. And sitting there in the middle like beacon up top a rooftop for certain bat-themed ninja was a soft-boiled egg on not one, not two, but twenty hot steaming bowls of delicious ramen.

It was so beautiful it took visible effort to not bawl like a baby. With a slap of his hands together and a quick. "Itadakimasu!" To the gods and the goddess that was Hitomi-chan and his best friend for life. He inhaled his food with gusto while doing his best not to cry anymore.

After a full belly he washed the dishes, dried them then resealed them as always. Then after putting up the flowery scrawled notes he ignored at first that he would go over later in the week he pulled out a blank scroll and began his message back. Telling her how he was glad her family liked the gifts and to maybe take Mitsuki-chan to professional if the yellow spots get worse. Also, he wanted to thank her for being his friend he never thought any other could rival Ichiraku Ramen, but she's done it. He told her of the shrine he would erect in her honor with the food of the gods. Then told her how hell wait the last two years so he could finally meet her. After finishing he sealed the scroll also with the dishes rolled up the scroll then placed it outside his apartment door into an unused flowerpot along the wall.

He knew it would be gone by morning and a new message would take its place by the time they got out of the academy. That was one of the things he couldn't wait to ask her in person on how she even got his messages and delivered new ones so stealthily. As he saw out his baloney window that it was almost pitch black, he decided to turn in. After completing his nightly ritual, he laid in bed looking toward the window that let in silvers of light from the man-made streetlight that was just high enough for its light to beam into his room had his blinds been open. He watched the shadows across his ceiling wondering what it would be like to have a family before sleep took him.

Pain lanced through him as he flashed himself and his family only a few miles in front of the backdrop that was the nine tails. His breath came in harshly as he stood on one knee before his wife and son. The loud rumbling behind him reminded him of his duty to his village, yet it was the sight before him that reminded him of his other duty. His Duty to his family as his breath came under control his resolve calming the tide of anxiety and stress about what he needed to do to try and save both.

"Kushina. Protect naruto." Said the strong voice of the fourth Minato Namikaze.

He stood turning to face the out-of-control Kyuubi about to put his plan into action when the weak, yet firm voice of his wife stopped him. "Minato! Wait! Remember your Promise!"

Yes, he remembered his promise to his wife only a month ago. When all was calm and naruto was still within Kushina's belly she had him sit beside her one day and held his hand tightly as she spoke with dread in her voice. "Minato…There…there might come a time where I'm going to ask you to do something…something that I won't be able to explain much or at all. During that time, I need you to do exactly what I say-Kushina listen I know your-MINATO! Please! I need you to do this without question without thought just do. Please! Promise me this!" She looked at him with fear in her beautiful purple orbs. He wanted to calm her fears and tell her things would be fine. But the look she was giving him just told him that was not what she needed so like many times before he put his trust in his wife. "Always."

That promise then seemed like just a pregnant woman worried of the act of first-time childbirth but seeing her now with Kyuubi close to barreling them down he wondered if. "Kushina you…" "Minato the time is now!" She looked at him pleading with those purple gems of hers with her vibrant velvet rose hair whipping around her face.

"What do I do?" "I'll handle the Kyuubi set up the alter, then ill tell you what's next!" Minato wasted no time taking his son in his arms from Kushina while she braced her hands in the grass. Then right as the Kyuubi was upon them she screamed as thick spiked orange chains shot out her back before diving into the ground then back out from underneath the Kyuubi. Wrapping him up before pinning him to ground shaking the ground for miles while she quickly made a series of hand signs slamming her hands down when done to create a giant orange dome of chakra that covered the sizeable area around them and the Kyuubi.

Kushina felt her vision swarm for a couple seconds, her body was now only moving due to her sheer will. Her chakra was already on its last legs, which she couldn't help a smirk as she tried to collect herself. Out of all her years of being a kunoichi she's never faced chakra exhausted with her Uzumaki genes that granted her large Jonin reserves at birth then adding the Kyuubi which boosted her to at least ten Kage level shinobi she was never going to run out. At least that's what she thought while her childbirth disrupted her use of chakra her level was fine but then the Kyuubi was ripped from her along with a big portion of her own chakra her cells no doubt used to keep her alive through the process.

Now here she was struggling to just make her own bloodline chains while barely making a barrier she used to do in her sleep. A spark of anger turned into a wave as she looked up to see Minato just finishing placing naruto down. When this was done, and she got some sleep she was going to make that masked fucker pay she swore it because if there was one thing Kushina hated most it was feeling weak. She vowed a long time ago to never feel this way again yet here she was her smirk turned into a grimace as the Kyuubi started pulling at her chains, oh that Basterd will pay.

"Kushina I'm done." Minato said looking over to his wife he saw the absolute seething expression on her face and knew then when his wife was better that mask Uchiha time was up. After blinking a bit, he saw Kushina ease up her glaring and focused on him. "Follow these hand signs..." Her face scrunched up as the Kyuubi was still trying to break free.

Seeing this he went to her and crouched before her taking her hand in his. "Kushina the whole Kyuubi can't fit in naruto I can do the Reaper Death Seal and ease the burden with you there naruto will be-No! Don't. You. Dare." Punctuating each of her words as she flared her chakra yanking the Kyuubi down harshly once more. "Minato…hah…y-you promised." Minato could only look on as his wife now glaring at him.

Making him close his eyes for a moment, taking a steady breath before opening them, looking right at her with eyes that showed nothing but love for her. "What are the signs?" Kushina caught his look and smiled despite her tiredness. "Snake, Ox, Rat, Tiger, Bird, Dog, Ram, Dragon, Snake, Clap!" The Moment his chakra flared in conjunction with his clap a large tendril of Crimson reddish chakra arced up away from the Kyuubi then over them landing down into a now crying baby naruto.

A second later a hellish burning started going through his core and spreading throughout his body. It was only when he heard Kushina grunt also that he forced open his eyes from his crouched position to see the tendril going to naruto and then two smaller cords of chakra now going to him and his wife. As much as he wanted to question his wife on what sort of jutsu this was he decided it would be best to get through this first.

It was the jingle of chains that alluded to that something was wrong. He saw behind a slumped over Kushina the nine-tails was looking straight at him with pure anger in its eyes before focusing a little past him it was then he noticed Kushina's chains were slacked and realized then what was going to happen as the Kyuubi lifted its right paw. "Kushina!" He yelled while pushing his body to move. Kushina's head snapped up at the same time and in the reflection of his eyes she saw it and her body moved.

Outside the barrier the Third Hokage waited with a medical team. "Do you understand your mission captain?" "Hai! Hokage-sama! We've topped ourselves up and rested a little were ready." The Third nodded just a Three shinobi landed by him. "Genma. Were there any problems on your assignment?" The Stick chewing Tokubetsu Jonin stood from his kneel regarding the third calmly despite half his Jonin jacket was burned almost away.

"No sir! The present's been dropped with doves in the waiting." "Good. Do you remember what else we discussed?" The Former Hokage penned him a look which he caught with a nod. "Hai! Let medical do their thing then once we get the ok we move, but what about you sir?" "Don't worry about me." He said as he swung around his black and gold tipped polearm to rest behind him. "Just remember when you get them there stay until the doctors have a definite report then find me and only me understand?" "Hai!" It was then the orange barrier flickered a moment or two before finally fading away. The Third wasted no time in grabbing his polearm and moving. "On me!" He yelled as he and the two squads ran where they could feel the diminishing of the kyuubi's chakra. Please hold on Minato! Kushina! Help is coming!

I look like shit I wish I could at least see Kushina instead of my rough mug before the end. Minato thought as he stood with his legs planted in trenches made by his own feet. As he stood facing a clone of himself holding a sealing scroll that was holding open said seal to allow the very tip of the kyuubi's claw to get swallowed into a spatial dimension. When the clone dispersed, he could see that naruto was unharmed and the tip of the claw was gone.

However, the rest was unfortunately still through his body and from the forehead on his shoulder Kushina was there too. He realized then his son would now be an orphan and while it was something that happened often in the ninja world. Its not something he would ever wish on even his worst enemy. He once planned to wait until after the birth to maybe see if Kushina might wanna adopt as well to add-on to their growing family hoping his act of kindness would help those in Konoha who needed it most, but now he it seems he only just added to the no doubt many that would be around thanks to this. While being an orphan wasn't bad he knew first hand how bad it would feel and he hoped his son would be strong enough to weather that storm. His morose thoughts were interrupted by a strong feminine hand grabbing his front.

He was about to speak when Kushina's chakra spiked and with the glow of a seal on the back of her hand glowed a mask puffed into existence. He immediately grabbed said mask seeing it as a very weird Oni mask with two halves put together." Put…hah…ha…on." His wife's voice coming to him small, and faint yet still there almost surprised him. He placed the mask on his face which attached on its own after then he heard his wife once more. "P-Put cha-chakra in m-m-mask…o-once… done. S-signs… R-Rat…Rabbit…M-monkey…Dr-Dragon…Tiger…Rat…Cl-clap!" Minato felt a warmth on his face then blackness.

He awoke to a familiar voice screaming along with grunts and wood breaking. When he finally opened his eyes, chaos was the only word he could describe the flipped bed, the large holes in the walls, and the shadow of orderlies flying across his vision to the nearby wall. He blinked then turned his head, coming eye to eye with a very scared nurse who was using his bed as a shield. A pull of his chakra saw him alert in seconds and quite surprised at how much his chakra pool has somehow grown.

"Hi. Can you undo my IV for a moment. Please." The scared nurse nodded before deft fingers stopped an undid the IV to his arm. He then looked toward the curtain of vibrant scarlet red that was down his wife's backside covering that peach butt he loved so much from showing from the slit in the hospital gown.

As she was held aloft by four very thick spiked orange chains with two others waving menacingly about her while a third straggled, who he assumed was the head doctor. His body felt stiff if not heavy still, so he focused inward on the Hiraishin seal above the cleft of Kushina's ass. And he not only found it but he felt every Hiraishin seal from there all the way to one he placed years ago during the war in rain. The shock as well as the influx of tags lighting up made his head spin for a minute, but after calming himself and slowing his flow of chakra he realized his chakra pool wasn't the only thing that got a boost. He ignored it for now though and lowered his chakra until he found only Kushina then he flashed to her.

The moment his body met hers he wrapped his arms around her while a second later an orange chain not covered in spikes wrapped around them both at the waist. "Kushina let him down slowly." "B-but naruto- "I know. I want to see him as well, but we need to debrief first and rest a little more. My body's still stiff so I know yours must be double so, let's rest for now and let the doctor here do his job. I promise you that the moment were better we will see our son." "Promise?" "Always." Minato replied as Kushina's body sagged a little so with a though he flashed them both back to his bed.

Kushina felt light and soft on top of him as they laid in his bed he tried to grab the cover but was saved from doing so by the nurse from earlier who also wheeled around another IV machine. "Sorry for the mess and damaged I'll make sure that your all compensated for this." He said lowly already feeling his wife was in deep sleep now that all her adrenaline has worn off.

To the somewhat frazzled nurses' credit she smiled warmly as she reconnected Kushina's IV then his. "Part of the job Hokage-sama. Its currently in the middle of the night would you like to be woken up six hours from now or earlier?" "Make it eight please my wife's not a morning person." "Hai! Please press this if you need anything else." She said putting the call button in his hand before the rest cleaned up what they could and leaving turning the lights off. As he came down from his own high and was just drifting staring up at the white popcorn ceiling before darkness took him once more.
