Chapter 6: The Past Resurfaces
After the parking garage incident, Takato, Henry, Rick and Lissa were outside in the wood part of the park. "That was a surprising thing to see. Again, we never seen a Digimon go out of control like that." Rick said. "Oh yea, you've yet to explain that part to us." Takato said. Rick and Lissa were about to explain, but Guilmon was coming towards them, walking on his hands? "Hey Takatomon, I can walk on my hands." Guilmon was doing fine until he tumbled over and fell on his back. "Its easier when you cheat. Can I stop now? This is a real pain in the neck." Terriermon said. "Not yet." Henry said. "Is this really gonna help him turn back into Terriermon?" Takato asked. "To be honest, it worked for Dracomon and Palmon when they first digivolved." Lissa answered. "Oh yea, you were gonna explain how you know this rarely happens." Henry chimed in. "Well, Me and Lissa had to deal with wild digimon causing trouble. It looked like we were going to lose Dracomon and Palmon, until they digivolve into their champion levels. Dracomon became Coredramon and Palmon became Sunflowmon. With their newfound strength they sent those two wild Digimon packing. Then came the troubling part of de-digivolving, like where you are now. We did the same handstand trick and it worked somehow. Though I feel eventually they'll learn on their own to de-digivolve." Rick explained. "Don't get the wrong though, we aren't fighting the wild digimon just because, we do it to keep others safe is all." Lissa added. "I guess I can't argue with that logic." Henry said. As the group was talking Guilmon was still trying to handstand, but was constantly which made Gargomon giggle. "Guilmon fall down, go boom." "Hopefully his mouth will de-digivolve first." Takato said. "I doubt it." Henry replied. "One could hope right?" Rick joked. "Very funny Rick." Terriermon replied. Guilmon tried one more to handstand but failed which made Takato chuckle. "Nice try boy. Come on, time to go home." "Yea, it is getting late." Lissa added. The twins and Palmon went home after taking Guilmon back to his hiding spot.
Rick and Dracomon decided to stayed with Henry a little longer. "Mind if I ask something, Henry?" Rick asked. "Huh? Sure, whats up?" Henry said. "I was curious to why you said "He promised he wouldn't do it" when Terriermon digivolved? Henry was surprised that he overheard him during that incident. "I guess if you heard me, I guess I should explain myself. This is also how I met Terriermon. When I got the Digimon videogame as gift from my dad, I chose Terriermon as my starting Digimon. In the game he was fighting a champion level Digimon known as Gorillamon. I helped power up Terriermon with my cards, and it made him digivolve to Gargomon. I was glad he was winning but then he didn't stop attacking when he beat him. Like he wasn't the same anymore. My father tried to convince me that it was just game. I still couldn't help but blame myself. Terriermon still ended up getting hurt, until I got the mysterious blue card, which brought Terriermon to the real world at the same became my partner Digimon." Henry explained. "If I had to add, that made you never want to fight again. I can't really blame you. You just want to keep Terriermon safe." Rick added. "Thank you, Rick." Henry said. "I know you don't like it, but I will fight wild Digimon causing trouble, not ones who want to try to be friendly. Fair deal?" Rick suggested. Henry wasn't a big fan of it but agreed, "Alright, but if the Digimon your fighting gives up, will you and Lissa let them go?" Henry asked. "Yes, we will." Rick agreed and shook his hand. "Its kind hard to tell if any wild digimon wanna be friends, if most we run into are mindless and power hungry." Dracomon said. "Hey, you never know Dracomon. It might just happen." Rick replied. As they were finishing up their conversation, Terriermon was back to his rookie level self again. "Well, it's completely nighttime now. We should get home." Rick said. "Yea, well we'll see you later." Henry said as he and Terriermon headed home.
Rick and Dracomon walk home as well. "Rick, do you think Henry will let Terriermon fight again?" Dracomon asked. "That'll depend on him, Dracomon. Not everything can be solved peacefully. Sometimes you gotta fight for whats right to protect the ones you love." Rick replied. It was the next day and another school day ends. Rick and Takato were with Kenta and Kazu getting new cards for the game. "Cool new modify cards. Here you can this lame one. I don't need it." Kazu give Takato a modify card. "What are training grips?" Takato asked. "Don't you know anything? They make your rookie big and strong to stomp out the enemy. It's like resistance training, but you probably wont use it. But you can get some sucker to trade for it." Kazu explained. Nothing ever changes with Kazu. Always keeping the good stuff. Rick thought. "Yea, thanks. Just what I needed another useless card.." Takato said. Rick and Takato meet up with Henry and Terriermon walking down the street. "Sometimes I wonder if Kazu gives me these cards to use them against me later." Takato said. "You know you give him too much credit." Henry replied. "I agree to that." Rick added. "Yea, I gotta work on that." Takato said. As the group was walking, Terriermon's ears go up like he hears something coming. "What's up?" Henry asked. "My ears for one thing!" Terriermon answered. "Your ears? Oh no." Henry said. "What's that?!" Takato asked. Rick saw what was coming, he knew what it was. "Please tell that's not what I think it is.." Rick said with a bit of worry. "Well, whatever it is, its coming right at us." Takato said with worry. "You know something you might be right." Henry said. "I think running would be a good idea." Rick chimed in. "Yea, lets get a move on!" Henry said as they all begin to run from the fog that's chasing them.
The group was still running from the "fog" that's chasing them. "This cant be.." Henry said. "No doubt about it. That's a digital field that's chasing us." Rick confirmed. "This just keeps getting better and better. What is a digital field and why is it chasing us?" Takato asked. "You picked dumb time to ask questions." Terriermon said. "For once, I agree with you." Henry said. Takato looks back and sees it getting closer. "Its gaining on us. We'll never outrun it!" Takato shouted. "Oh man this thing is fast, lets split up. You and Rick take the bridge." Henry said. "Got it!" Takato said as he and Rick went up the stairs to the bridge. They got on to the bridge, but the digital field was still chasing after Henry. "Oh no! Henry! Keep running! I'll go get Guilmon and be back as soon as I can!" Takato shouted. "I'll go get Dracomon to help out too! Lets hurry!" Rick said. They both went to go get their partners to help out Henry. Henry was chased into the construction site by the digital field. Where the field expanded when the wild Digimon emerged from it.
When the Digimon emerged it gave Henry a shocked look. Rick and Takato arrived with Dracomon and Guilmon the same time the wild Digimon emergred. "Terriermon…" The ape looking Digimon said. "Whoa, he's a big one. Who invited him to the party? Lets see here, Gorillamon, he's beast type Digimon. Champion level." Takato said as he analyzed Gorillamon with his D-ark. "Hey Gorillamon. It's been a long time." Terriermon said, though Gorillamon threw a steel Gider at him that he managed to dodge. Henry runs in to intervene. "Gorillamon, stop it! Don't you remember me?! We played the game together!" "Henry, what are you doing?" Takato asked surprised. Gorillamon just roars in intimidation. "Listen to me, I wont let Terriermon fight you. Just leave him alone. This isn't the game." Henry said trying to reason with Gorillamon. "I think he remembers, but its definitely not for an apology." Rick said. "I take it you guys met before." Takato said. "Just go back to the otherside!" Henry pleaded. Gorillamon just growls at the group. "I don't think he's listening." Terriermon said.
Gorrillamon shouts out "Fight!" Guilmon rushed in first and tries to attack first, but Gorrillamon jumps up and kicks Guilmon down. "Not you! Him!" Gorillamon said to Guilmon while looking at Terriermon as he's running with Henry up some stairs. Guilmon pounces Gorillamon but ends getting thrown off by him. "Hey, why don't you try me! Baby Breath!" Dracomon attacked Gorillmon with his attack but did little damage. "Hey, no fair." Terriermon said. "Terriermon, don't!" Henry shouted at Terriermon. "Aw come! Why does Guilmon and Dracomon get to have all the fun?" Terriermon asked annoyed. "I told you, I don't want you to fight him!" Henry exclaimed. "Try telling that to Gorillamon." Terriermon replied. "You know he does have a point." Takato said. This is what I was afraid off. Rick though to himself. Gorillamon was trying to pull Guilmon off a pole. "Uh, I think I had enough fun now!" Guilmon said with a little fear. "Get off of him!" Dracomon said ramming into Gorillamon which did nothing. "Hey, monkey boy!" Terriermon shouted as jumps down ramming into Gorillamon's face. Gorillamon's cannon fired when he was hit, but it just missed the boys. "That was close." Henry said. "That's one way to put it." Takato said "No kidding." Rick added.
Terriermon attacks Gorilliamon. "Bunny Blast!" Energy shots were fired from Terriermon's mouth hitting Gorillamon in the knee and then his face. "Terriermon, stop it!" Herny said. "Well what do you expect me to do? Sit back and let Gorillamon peel Guilmona and Dracomon like bananas?" Terriermon said. Henry was standing in shock not knowing what to do. "We gotta help them." Rick says as he takes out a card and swipes it "Digimodify! Strength activate!" Dracomon becomes a little stronger but it wasn't enough. "Let me try this time. Digimodify! Power activate!" Guilmon got a little more strength but it was the same result. "Its no good. He's just too strong and Terriermon is just too small for him, but maybe if he digivolved…" Takato said. "I won't let him." Henry said. "But henry, why?" Takato asked. "Its because he's afraid to his friend mentally." Rick answered. "There has to be another way." Henry said. "But what? These are the only modify cards I have left." Takato said showing his cards. One of the being the Training Grips card. "Wait, of course." Henry said as he takes the training rips card. "What? That thing? Its just a training card. What good will that do?" Takato said. "Just watch and learn. Terriermon, time for a little resistance. Digimodify! Training Grips Activate!" Terriermon was equipped with the training grips and then throws them onto Gorillamon restraining him. "Now I get it. With the training grips on him. He's tangled up to fight." Takato said. "Very clever." Rick said with a smile. Guilmon was in the air, chops Gorillamon in the head. Terriermon follows up his attack. "Terrier Tornado!" Terriermon spins around so fast that he becomes a small tornado. When his attack connects onto Gorillamon, it sends him up in the air. This surprised the tamers. Then Dracomon comes in with one last attack in the air. "Tail Smasher!" Dracomon spins his whole body and delivers a blow with his tail to Gorillamon's head knocking him down to the ground hard. "Well, whatever goes up must come down." Terriermon said. "No truer statement ever said." Dracomon said.
Gorillamon looked he was beaten, but he refused to give up and broke the grips. "Uh-oh. I don't think he liked the ride." Guilmon said. "That is one tough monkey." Terriermon said. "No kidding" Dracomon added. Gorillamon was about to do one last attack, but Terriermon attacked first. "Bunny Blast!" Terriermon fired a few shots into Gorillamon's Cannon which caused a backfire and made it explode along with him with it. Terriermon was about to absorb his data, but Henry stops him. "Wait, Terriermon I don't want you to absorb his data." "Aww.. Can I do a little victory dance instead? Can I?" Terriermon asked. The digital field disappeared around the group. "So, what do you think happened to Gorillamon's data? Did it just disappear?" Takato asked. "I'm not sure, but maybe, it went back to the other side." Henry said. "Hopefully it did." Rick added. The group was on the bridge again. "That was amazing. You and Terriermon make a great combination you know?" Takato said to Henry. "Yea, Thanks Takato." Henry said. "Why are thanking him? He didn't do anything." Terriermon said. "We're good combination too." Guilmon said to Takato. Takato nods in agreement. "Like Peanut butter and Bananas.' Guilmon added. Takato chuckles. "You're obsessed." "Do we make a good combination Rick?" Dracomon. Rick just chuckles. "Of course we do, Dracomon. Wouldn't have it any other way." Rick said. "Hey Henry. Momentai." Terriermon says as he jumps on to his head playfully. "Takatomon, I think I'm hungry again." Guilmon said. "Guilmon for the last time, I am not a mon. Ah forget it lets just go eat." Takato said. "Okay Takato." Guilmon said. Looks like he finally broke that phase. Rick thought as he smiled.
