This is a rewrite of my old story, World of Light and Darkness, which was… a bit cringe, to say the least. (totally not like it affected my thought process daily due to cringing at the fact that I wrote that (I feel offended by myself)
If you're still wondering, though;
Yes, there will be a couple of OCs in this fic, but you don't need to worry about there being no-names all over the place or Mary Sues/Gary Stus… despite the fact that the protagonist OC was originally that (along with being the one that comes to mind whenever I need a character to imagine myself as participating in any story), but of course, you guys don't wanna see any of that.
By the way, this story is VERY inspired by The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest made by AuraChannelerChris. You should go check it out in case you (somehow) haven't already.
Also, I haven't played Super Smash Bros Ultimate so I'll be mostly basing this on gameplays (And yes, this fic will include DLC characters).
To start, this chapter will be a short prologue to make up for the fact that I'm taking so long to make a single chapter of… well, anything.
(...Please forgive me if I forget about Mario's accent again)
Disclaimer (do people even do these?): I do not own anything in this fanfic, I only own my OCs.
Chapter Date: 29th of May 2024
Prologue: Alright, Take Two!
? ? ?
"Don't let a single one get away!" Fox raises his blaster, aiming it at Galeem, who has an entire army's worth of Master Hands and Crazy Hands floating around him.
All the Smashers are gathered in the same place to face the deity of light that had captured and mass-produced copies of them.
They all stand there together on the edge of a cliff, despite the rough relationships some of them had with others, they prepared for the battle of their lives, one that was about to occur at this moment.
None of them were exactly sure if they could even compare to all the enemies they were about to fight, but it was the only option they had.
"We'll each need to take down about ten." Marth points out, having counted all the enemies they had to face besides their main objective.
"Stow your fear, it's now or never." Zelda steps forward, a fierce stare on her face despite the situation at hand.
"We'll win this. I know we will!" Pit says, trying to reassure himself that victory was still possible.
But only if they knew…
The "skin" of the disembodied gloves started to flake off, revealing a vibrant mass of blue energy underneath.
This energy then starts to fly its way into the core of the bright being staring down at the Smashers, seeming to power him up.
Of course, our heroes noticed this, and they prepared themselves for what was about to come, albeit not even knowing what it was.
Except for one, perhaps.
Shulk's eyes widen as his thoughts get flooded by a vision the Monado gives him at the moment before disaster.
It was not a good one.
"No…" He mutters under his breath as the glimpse of the future awaiting quickly finished.
"Watch out!" Shulk cries out to the rest of the Smashers as he turns around to them, searching for one in particular.
But before he could even think of doing anything else to change their fate, the vision finally took form, ultimately sealing it.
The winged sun collapses into a black hole as a product of all the energy it was receiving. This would have confused the group a ton, if they even had time to react, that is.
Before that happens, Galeem erupts into countless streams of light directed towards them, every one flying through the sky at high speeds.
Unfortunately for Link, he's the first one to make contact with the hostile beams, managing to block some with his shield, but he quickly becomes overwhelmed and gets engulfed by one coming straight at him, which reduces him to dust.
"Link!" Besides the fallen fighter, Samus yells out as she tries to fend off the beams going after her by shooting her own beams of energy from her Arm Cannon at them, but it accomplishes nothing, and she faces the same fate as her fellow fighter.
Zelda and Mewtwo are already in the air, trying to deflect the light with their respective moves, but they both fail, being the next ones to be consumed.
"C'mon, grab his hand!" Sonic shouts to the Mii Gunner and Pikachu as he slows down his pace to let the both of them catch up to him, reaching out for the Mii. The Mii Gunner understands the order and manages to pull the Pokémon with her before attempting to grab Sonic's hand, but they two are caught by a beam right before he follows suit.
Bayonetta considers firing more bullets from the two guns on her hands, but she immediately uses Bat Within as soon as she notices a beam coming a bit too close to her, bursting into a swarm of bats to dodge it.
"Ah!" She deactivates the ability, and is instantly caught off guard by another beam heading towards her from the side, which claims another victim.
"Triple Finish!" Red commands his Pokémon team, trying to push back the light directed to them with Bowser helping out by using his own fire breath, but yet again, it does nothing and they are all consumed by it.
Captain Falcon tries to get on his Blue Falcon, but he gets attacked by a beam before he can even land on the cockpit.
Lucario manages to dodge a beam, appearing behind Greninja, who jumps up to dodge another one, which unfortunately engulfs the former before yet another one does the same to him.
Both Inklings fire their weapons at the rocky floor, covering it with ink and jumping into their respective pools of it in an attempt to hide, but this falls short as even inside the ink they get caught.
"Arséne!" Joker shouts, summoning his Persona to cast Makarakarn in hopes of being able to reflect the beams long enough for him to be able to run away, but as previously shown, reflection skills do nothing, and thus he is easily defeated.
Falco tries to fly away in his Arwing, even boosting up the speed, but he learns that even the machine is not fast enough the hard way as he fails to escape.
Pit and Dark Pit fly away from the field, leaving Palutena behind to try to stop the beams.
"You just had to say it, huh?" Dark Pit snarks, looking upset with his counterpart.
"Hey, it's not my fault that I jinxed it!" Pit defends himself, feeling a bit offended at the other's remark.
Meanwhile, Palutena sets up a barrier to protect herself, but not even a goddess is safe from the light, and she is the next to fall.
"Woah!" This event causes both of the angels' wings to stop functioning to a halt, before they could fall any further further, the light catches the two.
"M-Mr. Snake, are we really safe here?" Isabelle asks the soldier as she trembles in fear, both of hiding from the streams inside a cardboard box.
Snake was about to try to reassure the secretary, but once they both noticed a new external source of light that was rapidly intensifying, he looked back at her, she looked even more scared now.
"...No." He shakes his head in remorse, right before a beam turns them to dust with the box.
Steve tries to fly away from the fight using his Elytra and a couple of fireworks he had brought along the way here, but it doesn't matter how many he would have had if he knew this was coming, as the beams easily outspeed him.
Diddy Kong, Rosalina and the Luma alongside her try to fly away as well, with the former boosting his jetpack for more speed, but this doesn't help at all.
Villager runs around in circles in panic as the Duck Hunt dog covers his eyes while the bird tries carrying him up to escape… meanwhile the Wii Fit Trainer just hurries her yoga poses, trying to calm herself down.
Banjo, who is right next to the Duck Hunt duo, couldn't get himself to move at all, but Kazooie pecks him out of it when she notices a beam coming towards the group, and he instantly scrambles to run away. Unluckily for the six of them, all these actions still did nothing, and they all go bye-bye next.
In the middle of the web of light beams, Kirby soars through the sky on his Warp Star, skillfully dodging the group of ones that come after him as he tries to escape.
He's pretty much the only one left out of all the Smashers that have not been captured, and thus, he's their only hope.
He starts to speed up as his facial expression turns sharper, the sound of the star turning more high-pitched by the second.
Kirby's about to reach the speed limit of the star until…
"I've already seen this thing about a hundred times now, I'm bored…"
Do you want to save your data?
No
Are you sure you want to continue without saving?
Yes
Saving process cancelled.
So yeah, that's the newly-made prologue of the fic, which is still kinda short, but at least I want to get a chapter out before doing anything else.
If you're a new person here that doesn't come from the original fic (which I really doubt anyone would be besides two or three people) and you're wondering about whoever said that last line, just wait until the next chapter, which will be released around… 365 years, pretty much.
Jokes aside, I've kind of regained my motivation to keep on writing after having nostalgia kick me out of the bed today (yes, I finished this today as well), so if you don't see anything else from me in at least June, then you have the right to… I dunno, call me out on that?
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful day!
