Normal days

After GV recovered from the fight to save her they both returned home.

Soon the week would pass and their paperwork to go to Sakugawa Middle School would be approved. While waiting for a response Gunvolt and Joule set about buying various supplies they would need. It would be more fair to say that Joule went out the most due to meeting with her friends again to tell them the good news.

Eventually they got the reply, they were to start on Monday and they should get ready to go. They waited the rest of the week and collected the required supplies together to be ready to go.

Eventually Monday came, the two of them left for school early. A little too early as it turned out as it forced them to wait for about half an hour for anything to happen. They were then directed to the teacher's lounge to meet their teacher and prepare to get introduced.

Gunvolt had been thinking, many people might consider his name strange so he would have to use one of his fake names. He decided on Genki and that is what he told the teacher. His reasoning was that anyone who knew him as Genki would be someone he could trust not to be an enemy as an enemy would be able to read his file. If anyone else asked about him, something like "I thought your name was Gunvolt" he could honestly say that is his name and he just goes by Genki to avoid the stigma of a really strange name.

Eventually they were taken to their classes, Joule was a year younger than GV so the two of them had different classes.

Joule was led outside her classroom and she could overhear the teacher beginning the day inside, after most of the preamble the teacher said "...one more thing, a new student is joining us today." the voices in the class began to whisper about the new student while inside the room Uiharu and Saten already knew who was coming.

Joule entered the room shyly as the students continued to whisper, the teacher handed Joule a digital pen to write her name on the board with. A few quick seconds later Joule turned to the class and bowed, her name written behind her, and spoke "My name is Joule, pleased to meet you."

The classes whispered continued as the teacher directed Joule towards a seat in the back to sit in. Joule sat there and as the teacher finished up homeroom many glances were thrown her way. There was then a few minutes before the first lesson and some of the students went over to talk to her, Joule was a bit awkward in this center of attention so she was glad when Saten came over and waved away some of the more bothersome students.

While the students left her muttering, Uiharu came over too and the three of them were able to chat again.

Gunvolt's (Genki's) introduction went essentially the same but he just stone-walled the questioning. He sat through the lessons half-focusing until finally it came time for lunch.

Joule had agreed to meet him on the roof with her friends so Gunvolt wasn't really surprised to find Joule and two girls already up here, He walked up to them and Joule introduced him to her friends using his real name. The girl with flowers in her hair frowned slightly before speaking "Gunvolt? That is an odd name, is there any reason for it?"

Gunvolt wished that Joule hadn't told them his real name during one of their meetings, he could have just used his new fake name and dodged the question completely. Regardless he had to give an answer "I never knew my parents, Gunvolt was just what I was called from a young age so it stuck."

Uiharu considered this before continuing "But why was that..." before trailing off and deciding not to pry.

Gunvolt had made the lunches for himself and Joule and the simple food was nice as he listened to the girls talk. As he was talking the least he was the first done with lunch so he sat back and looked at the sky, not really thinking about anything. He noticed a butterfly, likely Lumen, land on his hand so he looked to see.

It was Lumen so he paid attention to the conversation again. Saten was asking a question "So, what sort of power does your brother have?", The two of them had decided to introduce themselves as brother and sister to reduce the amount of people curious about them. Lumen spoke to him quickly telepathically "What should Joule answer?"

Calmly Gunvolt answered himself rather than have Joule say it "I can control electricity." Uiharu nodded at this as Saten commented "An Electromaster then?"

When neither Joule nor Gunvolt looked like they understood her, Saten continued slowly as if wondering why they didn't already know "An Electromaster is an Esper with the power to generate and control electric currents," Saten then was cut off buy Uiharu "The third most powerful Esper in the city is an Electromaster."

Gunvolt nodded at that while filing that information away for future use.

Soon lunch came to an end and they all returned to class. At the end of the day they also met up outside the school for a continuation of the conversation, Gunvolt trusted Joule with the two girls and left early to research what the city knew of 'Electromasters'.

Joule and her friends continued to chat as they went to an arcade to play a few games, this was a new experience for Joule who had never played a in an arcade before, especially not with friends.

Meanwhile Gunvolt was at home, reading up on the power classified as 'Electromaster' he wanted to adequately be able to hide is real ability so he needed to know about the power itself. He memorised all he could find before turning off the computer and walking out to lean on the railings of the room's box.

He thought this world would be safer but the attack the previous week was worrying for the future.

Joule talk 5: Friends and games

Joule was playing games in the arcade with her friends, it was simple fun but it was still more than she had done in her own world.

In her own world she was always worried to get this close to regular people, she thought Sumeragi would find her so she was never able to trust enough to do this sort of things with friends.

She had played games before of course, she had even gotten quite far in an MMO but that didn't have the same feeling of playing with friends.

Though they didn't know it, those two friends were likely the greatest friends she had ever had outside of Gunvolt and Lumen.

Lumen chuckled at that thought "That makes you sound lonely."

Joule reflected and was going to ask something before Saten cried out and ran over to a new looking machine. Joule smiled and ran over too, her question to them could wait, why ruin a good moment?

*Saten and Uiharu feel a little closer to Joule*

Bit of a short one but next week we will be starting up the main plot, Level-upper arc here we come
