Warning! Beau (Bella) is a Closet Weeb, Edythe (Edward) is a Pseudo Boomer, and Julie (Jacob) is a Lovable Tomboy.

Charlie Swan felt a bit uneasy as he waited at the airport.

He thought that this would have been easier on him after imagining this very moment so many times along the week, but no one had prepared him for... well, this!

His son was finally coming back 'home', and Charlie had thought the boy would have been 'troubled' as Renée had mentioned by the phone. As the Sheriff of Forks, Charlie knew that it could have been rough to try and understand a 'delinquent' if that was the kind of troubled his ex-wife meant, but as he got a glimpse of the boy- his son was... normal. In fact, he was the most normal young man he could have expected.

"Dad?" Beaufort Swan asked, the boy's cerulean eyes flashing delight as he seemed to recognize his old man. "Dad! You got a stache!"

Charlie snorted by instinct. It had been a while since someone had pointed that out, and he had to admit that the new addition was something that came a while after Beau stopped visiting Forks.

"Thought I was up for a change. And you are so much taller than I remember you being, sonny."

Beau chuckled. "What? Did you expect to find your son to be a midget or something?"

Little Beau was adorable so... in a sense, he kind of missed that. But Charlie was fine with what he was looking at. Beau looked cheerful, if not overall giddy to be around his distant father. And after that emotional reunion, the two worked together to get the boy's bags in the car.

"Man, that was a hurdle... so, how's life as the police chief?" Beau hummed as he sat beside his father.

"Sheriff," Charlie corrected. "And not much. Things have been quite tame in town."

"Glad to hear that. Mom always whines that Forks is 'too tame', but I like a place that doesn't have any crime happening once a week."

Charlie shuddered at that comment, well-aware that it was nice to be in the quiet town of Forks rather than in a place where he has to be constantly worried for any major troubles. He would still do his job but... his life was as messy as it could be so things were fine for him as they were.

"I see."

"So, did ya have anyone at home? Some partners?"

"N-No," The man replied with a hint of surprise, stuttering as he had never thought someone, his son of all people, would have called out his prolonged celibacy. "I never saw a point to... you know. After we got you."

Beau appeared confused, and then surprised by this. "Oh, that's... nice."

"What about you? Any 'conquests' in Arizona?" It felt a bit bold to ask, but since the door had been opened-

"Nah," Beau remarked, sighing quietly. "I think it's for the best. There was this girl I liked in class but... she had to drop out because she got pregnant. Turns out that being the popular girl and 'playing' with the Football team was not the 'best strategy' to be on top for long."

Charlie cringed at the news, but he had to admit that there had been rumors of similar events happening in Forks High when he was a student there. He never bothered dwelling too much into those, but he could recall a few students dropping out without any official reasons in the past.

"That's..."

"Yucky?"

"I would have used a different word, but yes," The Sheriff confessed, then glancing around as they still had a bit on the road before getting to Forks. "I can assure you that the school here is... not that troublesome."

"I hope so. Had enough troubles with some people in Arizona," Beau argued, then looked away. "Speaking of that... did mom tell you why she sent me away?"

Charlie's lips twitched, remembering the phone call and yet having already disproved that the boy was a delinquent or 'troubled'. "She only said you had issues at school."

"I fought back," Beau muttered quietly, gaining a glance from his father. "I usually let it slip when some jerks nag at me, but they actually came close to breaking my nose. So, I punched back."

"And were you punished? What happened?"

"Well, the teachers sided with me. Same for the principal," The boy explained, sounding quite honest about it. "But mom was angry because she didn't 'raise someone that picks fights at school', so she told me I needed to go back 'home' so I could get that 'angry air' out of me."

Biting down a scowl, Charlie almost felt the urge to cuss at his ex-wife. Renée had always been a spontaneous person - first in dating, then in traveling the world, and then about 'having rushed marriage and motherhood'.

It always made Charlie feel like he had done something wrong- maybe he had coerced into this without thinking but... to hear this and to be reminded on a monthly basis that the woman could be so frustrating at times- he couldn't help but feel his lingering feelings for her were driven by sheer stupidity than genuine affection.

"It will not be the same at Forks High. The kids are looked at all the time."

And I am not going to say you are troubled just because you stand up for yourself.

He wanted to say that, but Charlie refrained from being too sudden with those words. It was a habit of his and, from the small smile his son returned, he could tell the boy had picked up the intent within his curt response.

"Thanks dad."

Charlie smiled once more, relieved that maybe, just maybe...

His son was growing up just fine.

Carine Cullen was a very compassionate person but... she has a limited patience. Especially when it came to the nightly hours she enjoyed at home.

She loved her husband, Earnest was always a wonderful partner, but he was giving her a begging look she couldn't accept. Not tonight, not when she felt so spent after hours and hours of handling her duties as a doctor. Carine would never refuse the extra hours of work, knowing her biology allowed her to pull through the burden just fine...

But she needed a few hours of peace when possible.

And even though she understood that Edythe was in a rather complicated situation where she was the only one without a partner, she had to remind the girl (her sweet virtuoso) that she had to keep an eye on the time when she used the piano.

"Love-"

"I will not yell at her, dear," Carine argued as she slipped out of her husband's embrace, Earnest not as convinced despite her genuine words. "I will just tell her to do something else. Painting perhaps."

Despite all his efforts, the renovator couldn't do much to stop his beautiful wife from wander off to the living room in her night gown. The woman fixed her hair a bit, golden eyes staring at the few portraits and family pictures around, hardly changing between them, before finally reaching the source of the music she heard from the master bedroom.

Edythe was lost in the moment, her hands nimble and precise, focused and yet lost as the musical prodigy appeared to be struggling with a new wave of perplexing thoughts driven by her own loneliness. Carine was very attached to all her 'children', but Edythe was special because she was someone that had been going alone and without a partner for a very long time.

And loneliness can be a ugly beast if you are a person in need of love.

"Troubled night?"

Her words cut sharply into the music born by Mozart and reintroduced by Edythe through her careless tinkering over the piano. The young woman with blonde hair and golden eyes froze, her attention aimed at the woman that had taken her in this family as a daughter. A loved daughter.

"Mother?"

"Edythe, dear, what's wrong?"

The girl looked away, flustered as if she was a child caught wandering the house at night. Since they were both vampires, that wouldn't be an issue. But this wasn't the first time Carine had encountered Edythe and had that very conversation with her.

"N-Nothing new. Just... thinking. About many things."

"Edythe, sweetheart... it will come the time for you to find someone. But for you to play the piano at such a nightly hour where everyone is trying to recover for the next day. Just... find something else to do in your room. Snap from your usual habits."

...

"I-I suppose that can be worked out. I am sorry, mother. I will not disappoint you again."

Carine smiled, but she could spot something worrisome in Edythe's tone. It felt familiar, but it was such a rare 'hint' within her voice that the doctor did not pinpoint why she should be worried about it. She just walked back to bed, snuggled with her beloved husband, told him that she had solved it and-

The loud noise of a very unused by still very there electric guitar from Edythe's room rippled into the once-thought extensive silence of the night.

...

Carine sighed, then she massaged the sides of her head and... "Earnest, dear, let me go. I just want to talk with her."

"Dear, you already did that."

"Love, she is being passive-aggressive. She needs to be told to put herself to rest."

"Let her vent-"

"I need my peace, my beloved! Don't make me lose my mind about it!" She snarled, and this prompted a very familiar session of struggling, whining, wrestling, cuddling, and then some silent mating to work out the tension.

Earnest was hardly that bold in most instances, but he knew his wife well enough to see when some of his 'DILF energy' was needed. However, as much as he was understanding of Edythe's own plight, Earnest was not planning for this to go unpunished.

Especially since these moments left Carine in a very 'go to the couch' mood towards him.
