This was my first quest, and it pretty much told me I had to get involved to the plot. Great. Like, I got the gist of it- I had to help since I had a gut feeling that Link wasn't going to have an easy time with her quest since this 'Guardian' was not meant to be a thing as far as I remembered from the game.

Plus, the Rewards gave me something to look forward to. An upgrade to the Master Crafter Skill, the main non-visualizable skill behind my crafting capacity, meant a greater access to the extensive lists and pages of what I could create. A Master Blueprint was actually something more interesting - there are three ways for me to craft something: 1) through the highlighted resources; 2) through money (which I didn't have any on me); 3) through Master Blueprints.

For some unknown reasons, I was 'reborn' with one of those on me. I didn't use it, having kept it away in case I needed to do some emergency crafting to save my skin. It never occurred, so I had one of those already with me and I knew their importance.

Still, an issue stood to me as morning came and I brought up the matter of the Quest to Link. To my surprise, she was nodding in relief at my summary, almost like she was accustomed to this sort of stuff but-

"I still can't leave my home on its own. There's animals and monsters do check on it at times. So, I can't just go on an adventure without-"

I paused as Link snapped her fingers as if she had realized something, retrieved her tablet and-

DING! You have obtained a 'Shared Skill' from your Companion: PoI Teleportation.

Shared Skills are Skills which are available through a bond you share with one of your companions;

PoI Teleportation - You can now teleport back and forth to Point of Interests you have visited. It also works on Companions.

"That's awfully convenient," I muttered instantly, frowning as I activated the skill and it revealed a fraction of the full map. I could see a few unexplored PoI, with my home defined as 'Bukharin - Home' within the Forest of Time. "Still, how did you just give me a skill like that?"

Link smiled and tapped the tablet and then silence.

...

"I get it that you used the tablet, I am just... wait, you can use other skills like that? Like, cooking and all of that doesn't require your manual input?"

Link actually nodded and I felt my frown deepening.

"Oh. It's... only you?"

She nodded, appearing a bit flustered by this. Was she self-conscious about it? Could anyone really be self-conscious about these life-hacks? How many gameplay-related skills were actually available to her? Could she actually... save and load files?!

I doubted that last bit was possible. If that had been the case, then Link wouldn't have needed help against the Guardian.

"Well, I can do some of that stuff too," I assured, noticing how Link was still hung over being caught on with that kind of unusual abilities. To my relief, she perked up, a quizzical look on her face. "Yeah, I can craft all these things through a 'Crafting Menu'. Kind of like you, but more extensive."

She was gushing over me, and I could hear the endless questions filtering out her giddy eyes. It was quite the awkward turn of events. But it was just a sweet way to get things started. I fed the animals, checked the perimeter, got myself a traveling bag stuffed with all the necessary stuff in my inventory box, and I was soon walking with Link out of my home and towards our destination.

It wasn't a short walk to get to the hurdle. Going through two big ruins and tagging along Link in fighting a few smaller monsters along the path, we stood by Proxim Bridge within thirty minutes since we started the journey and... it was big. The Guardian was big. A large machine that was currently huddled in the middle of the bridge. It was currently turned off, but it was clear it would activate and force a rather deadly battle to anyone trying to cross the limited space offered by the bridge.

Link eyed the machine with a puzzled look, unsure on how to handle this and... I knew that brute strength wouldn't do. No, we needed something more reliable in the long range.

Long-ranged, powerful and 'within my reach'. After all, if things were to go my way, I would have used the Master Blueprint to get a Flak 88 and get done with this, but it wasn't an item currently available for crafting.

No, at this point, anything revolving field guns was low-calibers, and I found the one that could make things go as intended. Actually, it was the best I had at my current level.

Link's gaze turned to me as a brief flash of light saw the appearance of a cumbersome item.

A medium-barreled field gun with a metallic cover, two rubber wheels, and a rudimentary scope. Once the 'pride' of the British Army, the QF 2-Pounder now struggled to be remembered beyond its early role in WW2.

The field artillery piece used 40mm shells and, after a quick check-up, I was glad to confirm I didn't need to buy as one was already in the chamber. I took a few minutes getting the right trajectory to shot, then conjured some ear mufflers for both myself and Link and told her that things were about to get loud.

Perhaps she expected it to be an 'assisting tool' rather than the game-winner. After all, the next few moments stunned the pointy-eared girl on the spot.

With a loud noise that was matched by a strong vibration, the HE Shell was soon soaring through the air, undisturbed as it rapidly slammed against the hide of the mechanical beast and-

KABOOM!

The loud explosion made Link jump, the girl's eyes widening in shock and awe as a large fraction of the Guardian was gone and, as the mechanic entity tried to activate, the large chunk of missing stuff clearly influenced it to the point of forcing it to shut down and 'die' moments later before falling upon the river under the bridge.

I sighed in relief at seeing that it was enough and... I snorted as I saw Link trying to make sense of the QF 2-Pounder. She got closer to it, then she eyed me with a 'is this safe?' and then started to touch it around as I nodded at her.

"That's a cannon. The logic is to hurl a bomb from long range for siege purposes. Or for randomly blasting foes."

While I had expected Link to flash some unease at such powerful tool, I couldn't help but shudder as she had that cute 'I luv it' sort of eyes as she patted the field gun as if it was a pet of sort. It took me a while to pry her away from the 2-Pounder so I could store it away.

She was utterly disappointed that I could currently use it once, but I had to also withhold the fact that the destruction of the Guardian had resulted in me receiving several random resources that, if I managed to get more of, I could potentially get more shells out and use it again.

Nonetheless, the Proxim Bridge was now free for us to walk upon. The solid connection between the landmasses hardly impacted by the recent explosion, the impact so distant that it hardly put some scratches on its upper surface.

With that first obstacle dealt with, our journey resumed as our destination, Kakariko Village, was quite far from where we were and there was another bridge to cross so...

I hoped that we weren't going to face any other Guardian as I had wasted that Master Blueprint on the 2-Pounder and I didn't have the means to shot more HE shells at any mini-bosses...

AN

The journey begins, and Link learns that MC can produce weapons that can hurl explosive blasts at foes from a very distant range. It definitely will not make her incredibly intrigued for more knowledge and also want some tools out of it. Link is a blast-happy girl after all.
