After it all

[ASG: The End of the Long Night]

Gunvolt rested in bed. In truth he could be fully healed if he used a skill to heal himself but he would rather avoid that while in a hospital. It was the same night or rather it was now the same morning. August 22nd.

Joule was aware of where he was, she even had Lumen watching him but not talking as it may be heard. She would likely come after the sun was up so they could talk properly.

Thinking this it was a shock when the door was opened, from where he lay he couldn't see who it was but Lumen fluttered into the air and flew out the door to figure out what they were after. In a few minutes she was back and rested beside his ear to tell him "It was one of the Misaka sisters, they were looking for Touma to tell him that the experiments were looking like they would be canceled soon as the tests had been put on hold.

GV nodded to show he had heard her and Lumen fluttered back to where she had been sitting before, A piece of wall art with butterflies on it that she could hide quite well in. GV looked at the clock on the wall which showed it to be just after four thirty in the morning. It was just starting to get lighter outside as the sky moved from Nautical Twilight to Civil Twilight, the night was drawing to a close and within the hour the sun would rise.

The sun did rise and at around nine Joule entered. Lumen fluttered over and rested in Joule's hair opposite the butterfly pin that she had from one of the first shopping trips with her friends.

Joule sat down on a chair in the room and they talked about what had happened, he left out the injuries that he had healed and a few other notes about his ability. Joule already knew them and he didn't want anything overhearing anything important.

As they were talking the frog-faced doctor, Heaven Canceller, came in to check on him. As he examined him the doctor spoke "It's honestly a miracle you aren't more hurt." GV smiled softly and thought about the worst of the wounds that he had healed before the ambulances had made it to them. He hadn't just needed bedrest though, as with the others he had been effectively been checked all over for injuries and the worst (Internal bleeding, a bone he had forgotten to heal, etc) had been found and treated right there and then. He might have had to stay several days but thanks to another skill (Alchemical Field) his natural healing was enhanced so as the sun rose he was almost fully healed.

Heaven Canceller smiled and nodded at him "I only heard about what you had been doing second hand from an old friend, but thank you for helping them. Those experiments were twisted." GV nodded but didn't say anything about that, what he did ask though was "Do you know what happened to Nunotaba Shinobu, she was part of the project but went rogue to try and help the sisters?"

He thought for a moment before answering "I don't know for certain but it is likely she will be sold to another organization within a few weeks. I don't know what for though." he paused for a moment before continuing "Her help would have been useful in the adjustment of the sisters I have to perform."

Joule spoke at that "Adjustment? what is being adjusted about them?"

The doctor looked over to her before continuing "The sisters growth was sped up in order to have them ready to perform the experiments. I need to slow each of their growths to normal rate so they can live normally."

Joule nodded and the doctor finished the examination. As he left he spoke "Seeing how fast you've been healing, you can likely leave around two to three this afternoon. I'll come by for one last check then."

Joule and GV spoke a little longer but Joule soon left, she had planned to meet up with Saten and Uiharu around this time and wanted to get there without too much time lost.

On her way out she bumped into someone, the person wore a nuns habit and had a worried expression on her face. The two of them fell to the ground, Joule was just happy that as she was outside, GV couldn't see that little tumble. As she looked up she saw the nun had already gotten to her feet and had proffered her hand to help her up. Joule took it and was helped to her feet by the young nun in front of her.

"Sorry about that," The nun apologised "I am looking for Kamijou Touma's room."

Joule checked her watch and saw she had time so she nodded "I know where it is." She pointed down the corridor and told her what room to look out for, the nun nodded.

Just before she left though she turned around "Sorry, my name is Index." Joule frowned for a moment at the strange name before just nodding "My name is Joule, good to meet you Index."

She then quickly walked away out of the hospital.

[ACSR: Ano Toki no Yakusoku]

It seemed Misaka had also talked to them so instead of the planned shopping trip they were baking, Joule didn't mind.

Joule grabbed the eggs and cracked them into a bowl as Misaka looked at the recipe for cookies that they got off of a site that Saten knew. What Saten hadn't said was that these were meant to be valentines day cookies, she had just removed the chocolate from the recipe.

Misaka had just said that she wanted to do cooking away from the dorm kitchen but Saten's theory were that they were for a boy she liked. Saten had told this theory to Joule who had resisted confirming her theory.

Uiharu grabbed some cookie cutters and Haruue and Banri had bought spare ingredients.

As they all wanted to avoid the "Too many cooks" problem they rotated out every few minutes to play a board game that Haruue had brought with her.

While Joule was not cooking she made more plans for the Idol event that was now only four days away.

In the end Misaka bagged most of the cookies while everyone shared some, it was a nice day.

Either way, chapter 2 of the sidestory is out for those who don't follow it.

Now I might have to ask for help with something because the timeline on the wiki doesn't have it; What episode of the silent party arc is on the 26nd? Aka; which episode would Joule likely miss?
