Lightning Flash

GV ran towards Misaka's location. He leaped onto the roof of a bus shelter with a quick step up from his boots before continuing. He leaped again, this time towards a building. He hit the wall and repelled himself using the metal in the wall, shooting him higher. He began to fall but before he could he used his boots to fling himself towards a balcony. He ducked for a moment and allowed himself a moment to recharge before jumping again to reach the next balcony. He continued across and up until he reached the roof.

In all it had only taken about twenty seconds. Joule's network had cut out and there was interference so he couldn't tell how the battle was going. He only had to run. He dashed towards the edge of the roof that was facing the arena Misaka was last at. He jumped and repelled, shooting himself across towards the next building. He began to fall before he reached it and so dashed mid-air to make the last few meters. Again he ran across the building and leaped at it's edge.

All together it took him about a minute to reach her. There were no good buildings close enough so he simply jumped back to ground level, repelling the ground he landed softly. He then sprinted towards the arena as he heard a loud sound like some kind of laser from inside when he made his way into the stands he saw Misaka facing a large vehicle which looked to have six legs and a very big cannon on the front.

At one side of the arena was the screen with Aritomi on it.

"You seem to be worn out Railgun"

Aritomi grinned

"Unfortunately for you this party is just getting started."

GV watched as two more of the vehicles jumped from out of sight to face Misaka. Seeing as he hadn't been noticed yet he was quiet as he made his way onto the field, using the large vehicles for cover from the screen.

Aritomi continued "These models are equipped with weapons made after analysing the city's 4th rank esper. I guess you could call it our version of Meltdowner. Enjoy your first hand look."

Misaka glanced up towards the screen and when she looked back she saw GV.

"Fire!" Aritomi yelled

The vehicle in the center fired at Misaka who repelled it with her ability towards the screen. The screen broke.

"Oh please," Misaka shrugged and Febrie, who was on her back, bounced "That was nothing like the real meltdowner."

She dodged as another fired and GV ran in. He knew that his knives couldn't do anything against these and they would likely be shielded against direct applications of electricity, he had to use his best. He glanced up at the screen as it showed static and muttered "I really hope that broke the camera as well."

He leaped and held his hand up. Misaka watched as he seemed to hover in the air. She almost failed to dodge a second blast from the right most vehicle.

GV chanted as he began to fall "Sacred sword agleam, Barbarous and bathed in blue, Cleaving right from wrong!"

He had never done this in front of Railgun before, she had either been elsewhere or hiding. Thus her surprise at the glowing blue sword could be expected.

GV cried out the skills name as he swung, the sword growing slightly "Luxcalibur!"

The blade wasn't quiet long enough to cut the vehicle in two but it did cut through it's head, bisecting it's piloting area in two. Without a sealed space, Janie's ability cut out and the robot went dead.

Misaka didn't want to be shown up however so she flicked a coin and shot through the right most vehicle. Blasting it back and destroying it.

GV jumped again to Misaka's side as they looked at the last one. Before it fired however three green beams shot through the center, piercing it's sealed space too.

After it fell, a woman that GV only recognised from his research on the dark side of Academy City jumped onto it. Mugino Shizuri, Meltdowner.

GV felt a tug as he watched her begin to fire at the already destroyed vehicles. He looked down to see that Misaka had grabbed his wrist and was pulling him. He ran along with her as they ran into some service tunnels underneath the arena.

Once Misaka knew he was following she had shifted Febrie so she was being held only by one arm. As they ran, Febrie spoke "Hey, who were those people?"

Misaka answered with a slight smile that looked a little embarrassed "Oh, those guys? It's best to forget about them, okay?. We need to hurry!"

[ACSRS: Eternal Reality (Opening 4)]

At around the same time that GV reached the arena, Joule had been hard at work establishing the back-up network. Haruue and Banri had been first but the web of telepaths was created. By placing one with each group, Joule was able to keep each group able to talk. In addition as each of them could contact her without interruption she only had to pass around the ability to project thoughts from a level 4 telepath that was helping. With a group of telepaths that could project thoughts she rebuild her network. Each person could hear the song in their minds and that was enough for them to receive the benifits.

Haruue got to her friends with the help of a giant robot that Kongou had ordered brought. Uiharu and Saten had boarded it to fight against some manned vehicles the enemy had. She smiled as she sung but she knew she was going to run out of steam soon. Lumen was controlling the main network but she had been singing for about 6 minutes at this point and she was about to collapse.

Lumen was giving her encouragement so she focused. One last loop, then she would rest. Lumen got to work, passing abilities around to where they were needed most. They were winning quiet clearly now.

End of chapter

Oh my, I have just noticed that the silent party arc has taken up a third of the story by now (Roughly)

It's good that it will be over soon but wow. Luckily I only expect about two chapters after this one.

If all the arcs from now on are going to be this long, this story might end up very long indeed.

It is almost longer than my other story already and this story is only has about 75% as many chapters as that one.
