Revelation of the past sin.
[ASMI: Into Darkness]
Uiharu tapped her way through personnel files, with each click the number dropped as she altered the search criteria.
Joule made tea as Saten sat awkwardly on one of the sofas.
Uiharu had taken the time to tell them that an Esper had attacked Kuroko. She was looking through the records to find someone who matched the information that Kuroko had.
"Good news." Uiharu finally spoke into the phone "I've found the name of the Esper that attacked you Shirai."
Joule and Saten walked over to look at Uiharu's screen as she read it out for Kuroko.
"Awaki Musujime, she's a second year from Kirigaoka girls' school and a level 4. Her ability is called move point. As you reported it allows her to relocate objects without needing to touch them. Technically speaking, it is spatial replacement from coordinate A to coordinate B."
There was a pause as Kuroko said something before Uiharu continued.
"Let me see... Looks like she's not good at teleporting other Teleporters so that gives you some safety and it says here that she seems to have hesitations about teleporting herself. Likely because she was badly hurt doing so two years ago." She pauses as she clicked over to another page "One more thing, though this is unconfirmed, she is supposedly one of the Guides."
"What?!" Saten couldn't keep quiet at that revelation.
Kuroko said something over the phone and Uiharu glanced at Saten before setting the phone on the table so they could all hear each other.
Her voice came over the phone a moment later "Okay, so again: Guides to what?"
Saten answered that for her "It's a rumour, supposedly the Guides are a group of teleporters who provide access to the Windowless building."
Kuroko was quiet for a moment before asking for clarification "You mean the main base of the General Director of Academy City? I thought that the Guides was just that, a rumour."
"Well, knowing our luck with rumours..." Joule began quietly.
A sound of pain could be heard and Uiharu responded quickly "Shirai, are you okay? That sounded bad."
"I'm fine, just keep reporting."
"If you're sure..." Uiharu turned back to her computer and clicked again to check on something else.
"According to Anti-skill the victims of the robbery, the men in suits have been secured. As for their identity, they turned out to be couriers that were hired by school district 23. They called in a Psychometrist to read their memories but even they didn't know what was inside the case."
Kuroko hummed for a moment before replying "To sum up, the suit guys were delivering the contents of a suitcase to a research facility for school district 23, but their cargo was stolen from them by Musujime's group."
"Yes, that seems to be so." Uiharu replied.
Kuroko was quiet in response. They could only barely hear her breathing.
"Are you still there?" Uiharu began.
Kuroko grunted softly.
Uiharu took that as a yes and pressed "Don't you think it would be better if we let Anti-skill take over this case? I'm starting to think maybe this is more than we can handle by ourselves."
Kuroko was quiet for a moment before she spoke hurriedly "Sorry, I need to go. I'll call back in a bit."
"Huh?" By the time the sound was out of Uiharu's mouth the call had been ended.
Saten was the first to react "Where was she, what could have happened?"
"She was in her dorm, so it would likely be either Misaka or the dorm manager."
Saten breathed a sigh of relief as Joule grabbed the now finished tea and served it to all of them.
It was about five minutes before she started the call again.
[ACSRS: Determination and Resolution]
"I've had a few thoughts." Kuroko's voice could be heard through a sound like wind, she was likely moving quickly.
"What about?" Uiharu asked.
"First, let's look into Musujime's group, I think they're working with an organisation outside academy city. Can you run a simulation of their escape route?"
"On it!" Uiharu quickly began working on the computer. Joule looked at the phone as Kuroko said her name.
"Second, do any of you know what would cause Misaka to get reckless?"
"Misaka? Did she say something to you?" Saten asked.
Kuroko was quiet for a moment before answering.
"She's involved, I don't know how but she's involved somehow. Does anyone know why?"
Misaka, something from space, something she would be involved in...
"Tree diagram?" Joule muttered.
"Yes!" Kuroko spoke quickly "Tree diagram is involved too, do you know anything Joule?"
Joule flinched for a moment before answering.
"I... it's not really my story to tell, I wasn't there for it."
"Whatever!" Kuroko's voice got a little angry "Is there a connection?"
Joule took a breath before asking "Kuroko, does the suitcase have a piece of Tree diagram inside it?"
"A piece of tree diagram?" Uiharu and Saten both asked, confused.
"As far as I know, it does."
"Then yes, Misaka has a reason to... get involved." Joule said tactfully.
The sister's project, Misaka's personal mission. If that could be restarted...
Kuroko was quiet for a moment "This is Sis's secret, I get that. I won't ask you anymore. But, can you tell me if there is anything else I need to know?"
Joule thought about it and then spoke simply.
"Misaka... she has many regrets, this is one of them. She is working to ensure it doesn't happen again." A moment past before Joule added "Please help her."
Kuroko's smile could be heard over the phone "What else do you expect me to do? Of course I will help her."
A great crash of lightning could be heard over the phone a moment later.
"I'm coming sis!" Kuroko could be heard calling out over the phone.
End of chapter.
This section had some really wierd translations in it. I had to watch both the sub and dub to piece this chapter together.
