Chairbound
[ACMItM: Summer Sunshine - Movie Version]
Joule walked down the street with Saten and Uiharu. They were heading to the station to catch a train to the hospital that Kuroko was recovering at.
To the side of them, a large screen showed an interview. Joule wasn't paying it a lot of attention but Saten stopped to look.
"...mion's opening ceremony is coming up in two days, isn't that right?"
"Yes! We are more than ready to show the results of our years of hard work. I have no doubt our company will once again help the world see what a true miracle looks like."
Wasn't that...? Joule turned to see that the voice she had heard came from the doll like face of Orbit Portal's president.
Uiharu stopped too and was the first to speak "Only two days, it's so exciting. I hope Arisa can get us tickets."
Saten nodded "Yeah, but we'd still need to repay her kindness in some way."
Joule agreed "It would be a large favour if she gave all of us tickets. The five of us, GV, Touma and Index. That's eight tickets total."
Saten looked down from the screen before counting on her fingers. The results shocked her "That's over 20 million yen right?"
Uiharu nodded, her eyes going wide. Joule's grasp of large amounts of money wasn't the best but even she understood how vast the favour that Arisa had floated was worth.
They continued to chat about Endymion as they carried on to the train. Not too long later they reached the hospital.
[ACSR: Kazari Uiharu]
As they walked through the entrance hall, Joule saw Touma and Index sitting at a bench.
Joule waved and the three of them walked over to greet him.
The first thing she noticed was that his face appeared to be slightly red, did someone hit him?
He sighed as he said hello but Index seemed happy. Uiharu signed the three of them in and they headed up to see Kuroko.
Misaka was already there, they were both looking out the window.
A sly smile came to Saten's face. She strode up behind them before speaking slightly louder than her speaking voice.
"Oh, are we interrupting a moment?"
The stammering that came from Misaka was only made funnier by Kuroko's lack of a reaction.
"Oh, hey Saten."
Everyone took a moment to calm down as Kuroko sat back into the hospital bed and everyone else gathered chairs.
Uiharu asked the most important question "Are you okay Shirai?"
Kuroko nodded before giving her answer "Mostly. The only problem is my legs."
Misaka looked a little worried then "But you were standing earlier?"
Kuroko smiled "That was only for a short bit of time. By the doctor's recommendation I probably shouldn't walk around the city but within a room like this it's fine."
She looked down at her leg and gave a slightly sad smile "I'm actually quite lucky apparently. The bullet passed by a lot of important parts when it went through. A centimeter to the left or right could have hit an artery or an important bone. I should be able to walk again within a week or two. Until then I should use a wheelchair."
"That's good to hear." Uiharu sighed.
Joule nodded before checking her bag for something.
"What have you got there?" Saten asked as Joule pulled out a letter.
Joule smiled as she tipped out a few tickets "A gift from Arisa, she sent tickets for her performance today."
Uiharu blinked "She knows where we live?"
Saten nodded as Joule passed around the letter that came with the tickets "Joule and I told her where we lived so she could get to us in an emergency."
Kuroko had her hand to her chin, clearly thinking about something. After a moment she turned to look at a corner of the room where a fold-up wheelchair sat.
"I don't know if I'll be able to come in just that."
Misaka smiled "We can get a proper wheelchair in the lobby. I won't leave you behind on this sort of event."
Saying that, Misaka readied the folding wheelchair for Kuroko to sit in. They all took it in turns helping push the chair on the way down. Once they were down however it was exchanged for one with a built-in motor that Kuroko could use to move easily. Kuroko had said she didn't need that much help though so they had again swapped that chair for another that Kuroko would be able to use her arms to move.
Personal transport then acquired, the group headed off to the venue where Arisa's performance was meant to take place.
End of chapter.
Moving from the remnant arc back into the movie.
