The end of endymion, Part 2

They contacted the ground team before giving the girls the signal.

Arisa and Joule hadn't changed outfit for this song but they did have a different air about them now. They were going to sing to save people.

[ACMItM: Over]

Arisa was the first to sing as the music began to play. It was one of her songs that they hadn't performed yet.

The song wasn't important though. The feelings were.

Arisa let a few simple notes emerge into the air as the crowd grew quiet.

Finally Joule lifted her mic and the two of them began to sing in earnest.

"Destiny's symphony~ I can see the fates~ Of a myriad of scars~"

Down below on the ground, Stiyl and the other three mages of Necessarius began to move. They were needed to help activate the purge system.

If those up in space failed, this would at least ensure that the destruction was kept as small as possible.

As they pushed into the tower, they came face to face with swarms of robots.

Stiyl waved his hand and burned them as his allies threw out their own spells. With the robots pushed back they all rushed ahead.

When they reached the pillar that needed to be broken to activate the purge system, they came face to face with a woman. Another robot- an android, created by Ladylee.

"Master, allow us to take care of this!"

Stiyl sighed and stepped forward "Now you're being ridiculous. I told you I'm fine. I'm going to see this thing threw myself."

He created a ball of fire in his hand.

"And so I sing~"

Joule had a smile on her face as she sung and she saw that Arisa did too.

"Gathering light to myself~"

She could feel the echoes of power in Arisa's words and with Lumen's help Joule copied them.

"To grant peaceful rest~"

This was magic. No this was a miracle that the two of them were making together.

"To the love returned to eternity~"

The girls ran through the base of the tower. Some of them were wearing goggles that helped them use their powers but others were just carrying guns.

When robots stopped them, they opened fire. Using both their guns and their power over electricity the robots were destroyed.

When they reached the pillar, one of them spoke.

"We have located the target, says Misaka 10039."

"Acknowledged, says Misaka 10032."

The Misaka clone who spoke walked up from behind the group. She was carrying what looked like a very large gun and wore one of the sets of goggles.

"We are still awaiting signal from Last Order, reports Misaka 13570."

The clone who spoke stepped forward as she did before all of them looked to the pillar and waited.

"I sing to you~"

Arisa looked at her friend as they sang.

"So that nothing will be lost~"

Joule felt more special than she had before. There was something different now.

"So that everyone can smile~"

They both held power and got used by others for it.

"So that we can live our lives~"

Joule hadn't told her much but she felt it regardless. There was a connection there.

"Without worry forever~"

The boy strolled through the tunnels that ran beneath the tower.

"You could be a bit faster about this, says Misaka Misaka in a frustrated voice."

The boy shook the girl off his arm.

"It doesn't matter. I'll get there before I'm needed anyway."

"Everyone else is already ready though, insists Misaka Misaka as she points down the tunnel."

Accelerator sighed.

"I still don't get all of this 'magic' stuff. I thought I wouldn't deal with it again after Esther."

"Just hurry, says Misaka Misaka as she pulls on your sleeve." The little girl tried to pull him down the tunnel faster.

Accelerator twisted his arm to get her to drop it and then picked Last Order up and kicked off the ground.

They shot through the passsage at speed and arrived quickly at the pillar room.

"We're here, reports Misaka Misaka to Misaka 10032, 10039, 13570 and 19095."

"Get over again~"

The song was drawing to it's end.

"Look to the sky~"

On the planet below, the ground team destroyed the purge pillars and the tower shook.

"Get over again~"

There was a shift as the world seemed to turn around them. Even as the artificial gravity faded away, the two sang the last line.

"And beat your wings~!"

Endymion tower fell on the seventeenth of september. It was a great loss to the company of Orbit Portal who had staked themeselves on the tower being a success.

Of course, it was obvious to all who looked up on that day that it wasn't an accident. Even through the bright blue sky, a rainbow of light could be seen from the top of the tower.

While the tower itself fell it's upper structure, including the station at the top, was somehow disconnected from the tower itself.

It dropped back beneath the atmosphere a while later. It was slow enough by this point that the people inside barely felt it as the station underwent Reentry.

The stations emergency systems activated and lowered the station safely down into a landing on the ocean a few miles away from academy city's shore.

It was called a miracle. Every passenger was found alive by the rescue boats sent out for it. There were even what seemed to be a few stowaways that had got up there without a ticket.

Ladylee Tangleroad was found badly injured on one of the command decks. She was sent for emergency surgery to save her life but according to most news sites she is said to have died during the operation. This makes her the only casualty from the fall of Endymion, a sad state of afairs.

Meigo Arisa, the idol that had been hired for the opening was found along with the passengers. Apparently she had worked to keep them all calm during the landing.

Indeed. This entire event could really be called a miracle.

End of chapter.

Now just on to wrap-up.

There will be two wrap-up chapters. One from Joule just after the landing in the ocean and one from... well, you'll see.
