A Sports Festival?

[ACSR: After School]

Misaka held the handles on the back of Kuroko's wheelchair. It had been Kuroko's request and Misaka had been fine fulfilling it, even though Kuroko was able to move the chair around on her own.

"So, Joule. Thoughts on the Daihasei festival?" Saten asked.

They were standing behind Kuroko and Misaka so they didn't take too much space from the pavement. Saten, Uiharu and Joule were mostly chatting about upcoming events. It was a good way to change the topic after Joule's heavy revelations only a few minutes earlier.

"It sounds fun." Joule admitted "But I'm not really that active."

Saten looked a little surprised as she asked "But doesn't dancing on a stage take a lot out of you?"

Joule shrugged "It probably would if I danced more. Singing is the part I'm actually good at."

"Singing still requires a lot of effort though right?" Uiharu asked.

Joule gave a half-hearted nod and moved on "What sort of events are actually in the festival, by the way?"

"It has the normal sports day things, but you're allowed to use your ability to help you." Saten spoke with an air of wisdom. That basically just meant that she stuck her nose in the air and spoke in something like an 'Old wise woman' voice.

Joule raised a hand and revealed "Um... I haven't done a 'sports day' before."

Saten was shocked right up until she remembered what Joule had said about her past and then shut her mouth. Uiharu sighed softly and gave Joule the basics.

"It's athletics, mostly. Running, pushing, that sort of thing. There are a lot of team based games as well."

Saten nodded and went into detail "There is stuff like tossing balls into bags that are suspended in the air, bread eating races-"

"What?" Joule interrupted her and Saten nodded "It's more interesting than it sounds. Oh, and then there's a Cavalry battle!"

Joule sighed "Again, what?"

Saten clapped "Let's do that one together! You, me, Uiharu and Misaka!"

Misaka looked back and looked apologetic "Sorry, you can't have a team that has students from multiple schools. It's also gendered so GV can't be your fourth member."

"Curses!" Saten said while shaking her fist at the sky.

"Those team rules apply to all team events don't they?" Uiharu asked. Misaka nodded "Originally, Kuroko was going to be my parter for the two person events but due to her injuries, I'm going to have to find someone else."

"Will... Sorry, I've forgotten her name." Joule fumbled but Saten was able to pick up "Kongou right?"

Joule nodded "Is Kongou free or do you think she'll be working with her friends?"

Kuroko sighed from her seat "She's probably free. She and Misaka as one team and her two friends as another team."

Misaka nodded "That could work. I'll have to ask her."

Saten nodded and Joule noticed that she had pulled out her phone to list more events.

"Obstacle Course, Roll the Ball- that one could end up being quite fun. Scavenger Hunt, you'd probably be great at that Joule."

"Hmm?"

"You know." Saten said in a secretive way "Telepathy and a scout?"

"Is she talking about me?" Lumen asked telepathically.

Joule sent back a "Probably" before shrugging and responding to Saten "I'll see, what day is it on?"

"The 20th I think." Saten answered as she went back to reading off her phone "It says here that it depends on your school I think ours is one of the earlier ones though. Let's see what else there is... Wrench Pole? I don't think we'd be very good at that. We'd probably be outmatched physically with most enemy teams."

For the third time, Joule had no idea what that event consisted of but seeing as Saten wasn't actually answering, she'd have to look them up later.

Saten moves on "For non-event things, they have a few interesting things. They do a Parade each night which lights up the sky with fireworks. There's a folk dance on one of the last days around a big bonfire. Finally there are lots of games in stalls that are going to be set up throughout the city."

She put her phone away and clenched her fists at her side before cheering.

"Next week is going to be awsome. No classes either!"

"...right." Uiharu murmured.

End of chapter.

Endymion kind of makes a mess of Railgun T episode 1.

It takes place during the exact same time. I've had to squish it all into a short time.

Assume most of it happened off screen somehow on the 18th or before 10AM on the 19th.

Also, this was a bit shorter than normal but I basically just ran out of things to have them chat about. Next week's chapter starts the festival properly. This will be my test of how many plot threads can I juggle at once. I'm going to be mixing the Index and Railgun versions of the festival.
