A girl's will.
[ACSR: high speed]
Junko's foot swung and crushed another robot as she moved. She was by no means a black belt but her ability made all the difference.
She sprinted to the end of the street and used a hand mirror to check round the corner before bouncing around.
As she began heading that way, more of the robots fell on her from above.
Junko's foot swung up into a dog's head as it fell but the others were attacking before her foot made it down again. One of them tackled her but strength flowed through her arms long enough for her to break free and leap a story up onto the roof.
Catalogue of injuries, muscles in both arms bruised, left leg muscles bruised while right tore. Estimate time until fully healed; under 10 seconds. Her power flowed, giving her body the energy to heal at an accelerated rate. As she waited though she needed to smack some of the flying insect drones she had been seeing around now.
They were probably designed to inject drugs and were likely related to why some of the rest of the clique had collapsed. If it was anything permanent, she was worried she might not be able to stop herself breaking a few of the culprit's bones.
It was entirely possible that they were harmless, their drugs already spent, but she couldn't afford to risk it.
She stood up, her legs fully restored and jumped back to ground level. She had noticed that whoever was doing this changed what they attacked with depending on where she was. If she was on a roof or otherwise a spot that the dogs took time to reach, he'd send the mosquitoes until the dogs arrived. If she stayed within the dog's reach though he didn't send flies.
She was using "he" to refer to the villain due to that young man she'd seen in the park earlier. She'd been stung by the tracker then and he'd asked about Misaka.
Even if he wasn't the one controlling the robots, he was clearly allied with whoever was.
What were her victory conditions in this fight?
Escape? She'd have to dig out her tracker and then find some way to escape the many robot bugs that would likely keep an eye on how she moved. She'd need a teleporter for a clean escape and she couldn't contact Shirai without risking one of the robots getting her while she dialed.
Getting the tracker out was probably a good plan regardless though, she'd need a moment of peace for that.
How many dogs had she broken now? At least in the two digits. Junko had to wonder how many her enemy had. They seemed rarer now but they still cut her off when she made a break for it.
She found an empty building as she moved and quickly went inside and opened her dress's collar again to reveal the red spot.
She, along with everyone who went to Tokiwadai (Other than her queen, of course), had used the academy city trackers before. They were normal things to have during school trips out of the city after all.
She also knew they monitored vital signs. She'd have to assume that these were no different. Her enemy would know the moment she removed it.
Ah well. Nothing else for it.
Her finger pressed down beside the spot, she wished she had a blade to do this with as the trackers were set deep. They were resistant to electricity though so she couldn't just use her bioelectricity to shut it down. She'd have to dig it out. By hand.
That first aid course she took probably wouldn't be enough.
Her finger moved and she felt pain as her nail broke the surface. That pain stunned her for a moment, she might have been trained to fight and deal with the pain from attacks but self-surgery was something else entirely.
She quickly took a breath and used her ability to keep her nail in one piece as she dug around for the hard knot that would be the tracker. It would still be in the skin so she'd have to deal with bleeding but not anything worse.
There!
She twisted her finger again and pulled out the tracker. Her finger was now coated in blood though and she felt tired.
Her ability aided her though and within a second, the small wound was closed and her blood was being replenished.
She was starting to feel a headache coming on. She hadn't had one from overusing her power in a long time.
As she glanced out the window she saw that the dogs had gathered. They'd pounce on her the moment she left and she guessed they were watching every exit.
A plan formed in her mind and she headed for the next floor. There were more of the bug drones up here but she'd be able to push through them. Her arm smacked out as she ran through the room, clearing the air directly in front of her with a second swing and then a third.
She had seen that this building was slightly taller than it's neighbors, if she could jump from a window on one of the higher floors she would be able to make it to the next building along.
Before she made it though she felt another sting.
[ACSRS: System of the Darkness]
No! She'd made it so far!
A numbness spread from her back over the rest of her body. As it reached her hips, her legs collapsed mid-step and her arms responded too sluggishly to stop her colliding hard against the ground.
"Well, well, well."
The voice was distant when he started talking but a minute later he had the robots drag her out to him.
"Nice to meet you again." He said "Shame that you ran for so long, sorry about that. This wasn't really about you in the first place after all."
"Who are you?" Junko managed to say.
The young man smiled "I'll spare you my name for now but I work for MEMBER, have you heard of us?"
"...No." Junko admitted. The man just shrugged.
"Ah well, just know that we're part of the dark side of Academy city. Doesn't matter. Now, I'm going to ask a few questions. I'm not meant to kill espers with abilities as high as yours unless given specific orders but-" his teeth clicked into a smiled "I guess we could just say it was an accident. You really shouldn't have jumped off that building to escape me after all."
Oh.
Junko was scared. Truely scared. More scared than she had been in years.
"Now, my first question is this; Where is Misaka. I know we caught the wrong one beforehand, I mean the real one."
"The wrong one?"
"The clone." The man said with a not of frustration "But I want the real one. Where is she?"
[ACSRT: Why Is Misaka Mikoto Here!?]
"You asked?"
The man looked to the side but Junko couldn't Luckily her ears managed to pick out enough.
She had heard the sound of a teleport, that pop of air as a person replaced it. Two people in this case.
And then she had heard the voice.
"Why is she here?" The man said, baffled.
Junko couldn't disagree with his shock. Their job had been to keep her out of danger, she'd specifically told Misaka to stay out of danger. How had she come?
The man stood up and took a remove out of his pocked pressing it quickly.
He looked scared though. He was outmatched. Facing down a level five with no armour of any sort.
Junko smiled.
Then the man pointed a gun at her.
"If you move from there, she dies!"
Junko stopped smiling.
End of chapter.
Next chapter will show why Misaka is here. Short flashback.
Soon, we will finally be back to the other things.
