[ACSRT: Now, Let The Experiment Begin]
GV looked up at the sky as he ran. The clouds had come out of nowhere and his senses were telling him that something was terribly wrong.
He should have gone with Misaka and Kuroko. That was obvious enough now.
The storm wasn't natural. It was being controlled. He had met Adepts who could influence the weather but storm clouds of this power-
He felt power gathering up in the sky above a building. That building, it was one of the tallest buildings in the city. One without windows. He'd heard rumours about it but-
He felt the energy shift. Power was being pulled from around the city into that cloud. He licked his lips as he ran on and realised that if all that energy fell, the building would, well, explode. That could do massive damage to the area around.
Why couldn't he control outside electricity like Misaka could? His azure lightning was powerful and near-endless, but he could do nothing to stop a lightning strike unless he was right in it's heart or in it's path.
That bolt would fall before he-
Light shone down on the windowless building. The power of the lightning in the moment before the flash.
Other people would only perceive it as a pillar of light, one that hit not just the building but the area around the building too. GV though could see more. He saw the path the electricity followed, one that was too straight to be natural.
There was only one person in this city who might be able to direct a bolt like that. And she'd already proved today that she could be controlled.
"I really should have gone with them." GV noted with frustration as the light cleared and left the building unharmed. Upon noticing that though, it captured his thoughts for that moment.
That building must be protected somehow. It wasn't important though, what was important was-
"Genki!" He glanced over with surprise as Touma ran to him "What's going on? Misaka was acting weird earlier and now-"
"I'll explain as we run!" GV said as he set off. Touma jogged after him and GV began filling him in on what he knew.
Saten gazed at the sight of her friend in horror. Her body couldn't move due to the scientist's control but she could still feel terror as her friend stood their lifeless. She was like a doll, light arced out from her like horns. hoops of light seemed to float around her, directing the electricity that was being used to strike across the city.
"Hmm." Gensei noted "About 2% of the way to level 6 I think. I've got time."
He turned and smiled back to the frozed girls "Ah, don't worry. I won't toss you off the roof while waiting. No, I'll just leave you here with your friend."
There was cruel mirth in his voice as he turned away.
"Now then, I wonder when Misaki is going to get here."
"What's happening?" Joule asked Misaki as they looked up at the lightning crackling from the roof.
Misaki pursed her lips before answering "The sister, Exterior, Misaka. I was blind when I failed to put this all together sooner."
"What is it though?" Joule begged. Like Misaki, she had known about the sisters and Misaka from the start but she didn't know what 'Exterior' was.
Misaki sighed "It's an artificial version of my ability. He could be using to control Misaka- no that wouldn't work in her current state. He's used it to hack into the Misaka network to bypass Misaka's defences. It's similar to what you did earlier, Misaka's protection never expected this sort of attack on her mind via the network. She probably wasn't even aware that it could do this."
"So what?" Joule asked in a panic "What can we do to help her?"
Misaki didn't have an answer "I don't know if we can do anything. The virus was already implanted in the network. I think-"
Her voice went quiet as she continued "Touma might be able to fix this, but where is he?"
Joule took a breath "So, we just need to cut her off from the network?"
That got a roll of the eyes from Misakai "Technically, yes. But even working together, we can't access all of the sister's minds at once. That would require reaching across the planet and touching thousands of minds at once. We can't just cut them off one at a time, even with both of us working together, that would likely take over two hours. I doubt we have more than thirty minutes."
Joule took a breath "Could we overwrite the virus? It spread quickly, can we cure it quickly?"
"Not unless we get to the command tower for the network, wherever she is." Misaki said "Even then, I'm not sure I could do it fast enough to deploy it in time to save the city."
A thought shot into Joule's mind "The network, would it all be sending it's energy to Misaka directly, is it like Level Upper?"
Misaki's eyes sharpened "Same basic concept."
Joule had studied the properties of AIM that had made the Level Upper function for her performance against SCHOOL.
If she could get to Last Order... She'd need to find a sister first.
"I can get the signal to the command tower, make sure there is a cure we can put in them by the time we find a sister."
Misaki gave her a look and pulled out a remote to read her mind. Her eyes went wide and she smiled.
"Yes, that might work."
Now all they had to do was find a sister and there was likely one at the top of the building. With Gensei and Misaka.
"Well." Joule murmured "It's this or letting him do whatever he's doing with Misaka."
Misaki agreed and they both ran for the hole in the door.
End of chapter.
Did I say I wouldn't put anything out due to GV3 coming out this week? That was a- well. I won't call it a lie.
I hadn't intended to write this but I needed to charge my switch in the middle of playing the post game and decided to write this.
My review of it; Good game, Good story, Good music, terrible endings.
Also, to anyone asking if Kirin will be showing up; No. At least not until Copen shows up too and that's still quite a few arcs away. Plus she hasn't really grown on me enough yet.
