Conduction

[ASG1: Lightning Unleashed]

GV reached the roof again and saw the doll turn his way. It looked like it was heading over to the hostages.

He wasn't about to let them all be hurt but damaging a homogeneous metal doll was difficult.

He pulled out one of the throwing knifes that he could use to tag targets and tossed it. The doll cut the blade out of the air with a whip of a metal tendril. The knives were too big to hit the target before they could react. That means he'd need an opening.

Even then, if it could just reform itself then it would be for naught.

He leaped to the side and the tendrils followed him at high speed.

Just before they impacted him, he prevaded. He passed through them and dodged to the side as he threw another dagger. Hopefully with it's weapons already extended-

No, it just blocked them with a new tendril.

The doll rushed towards him and he got another opening. It was probably banking on him not being able to react to attacks at close range.

Instead of dodging though, as the dolls shot out more attacks, he moved into them and through them. His septimal energy would run out quickly but it bought him the opening he needed to draw another knife and plunge it into the doll.

Tag secured. Partially at least. The thing was metallic the whole way through, that meant there was no critical places he could zap to take it out.

He tried throwing a charge down the tag but the electricity didn't really damage the doll at all. He'd need something more physical.

A skill then? He'd probably be able to restore the stamina for it within a minute or so but it might leave him open.

Astrasphere was pure lightning so it wouldn't do much more than the charge he threw through the tag. Luxcalibur on the other hand was physical enough to break it apart. If it could reform though it would be all for nothing, as he said before.

Well... there was always another option. A technique he'd only thought of recently. A physical technique like Luxcalibur but one that could strike a greater area.

He'd need to recover first.

Getting away from the doll, he ducked behind a crate and took a breath in as he stabbed a dagger into the ground. He felt his energy return in a surge from the breath and he dodged to the side as the metal limbs of the doll sliced through the crate to get at him.

No, he had other options to try first. Again, he went to close the distance with the doll.

His tag was still on it but lightning wasn't doing enough. Instead, he'd charge into it with his flashfield itself.

He'd managed to lure the doll away from the hostages, away from the threat of catching them in the field too.

The field expanded at the speed of lightning, taking a fixed range around him and filling it with his power. A magnetic field pushed out from him as electricity passed halmlessly through the target. The magnetic field was the key though.

A wave passed through the doll as it was shot back from him. Less than he would have expected but it wasn't steel after all. He dashed forwards again, pushing against the roof with one field and pushing against the doll with another until they reached the edge of the wall.

With one last heave he shoved the two of them off the roof and into freefall.

Even as they fell though, the doll didn't give up. It shot a final set of tendrils towards him. Tendrils that a normal person in freefall would have no way to dodge.

Instead of flailing though, GV smiled and gave a tug on that dagger he'd placed into the ground earlier. He felt a magnetic force and he dodged upwards even as the doll fell to the street below.

Good riddance.

[ACSRT: Scientific Development and Sacrifice]

"We should split up." Misaki was talking via telepathy to avoid being overheard "I know the traps and can use them against him. You can't. Go for the roof, your friends are there along with the sister."

Joule hesitated but nodded "But you'll be safe?"

Misaki gave her a grin "Of course I will, I'll defeat him and then help with Misaka."

They ran ahead until they got to a crossroads and Misaki sent quickly "Right, left, up the stairs. You should be able to find your way from there."

Joule broke off right as Misaki ran left.

Gensei chuckled as he made his way after them. He looked through walls to see them both running and after shaking his head for a moment, decided to go after Misaki.

"These girls, they just don't learn."

End of chapter.

A bit short but GV's battle was quicker than I expected.

He does know Voltaic Chains by now, he just decided using it right now would be a waste (I was actually writing out a version of the chapter where he did use it and it felt... hollow.)
