Wave Manipulator/Wave Interference

[ACSRS: Pressure]

Lumen flew beside Hokaze as she jumped from building to building, following the signal from Shokuhou's phone.

The call had been from ghost-chan, she had followed the level 5 when she had been kidnapped and taken control of her body to turn the phone on and call them. With that, they now had a way to track her.

Joule was following too, using the map that Lumen was projecting to her mind. She'd be late in getting there though. She had taken the time to call her friends.

The kidnappers had made a threat that Hokaze was to face them alone or they'd hurt Shokuhou so even the clique couldn't back her up. Lumen could hide out of sight though and others could help position back up to move the moment they could confirm the level 5's current location.

You can't exactly threaten a hostage if a teleporter has already extracted them, after all.

The tracker led to a warehouse and as Lumen became a hairpin for Hokaze, she began passing her senses to Joule instead of Lumen's own. She got Hokaze's permission first of course.

The level 4 jumped down to floor level and moved with determination towards the large doors of the warehouse. They were already open wide enough that she could see a girl sitting inside.

Hokaze panted slightly as the girl looked over at her.

"So we meet again, how do you do?"

Hokaze took a step froward "The Queen had better be alright."

The girl smiled and held something up. A phone.

"You were following this, weren't you? I don't know how, but it came back on after we turned it off. So I took advantage of that."

Leaning forward, she hopped off the metal beams she had been sitting on.

"Now, since this is here..."

She pulled out a metal cylinder, a laser pointer, maybe?

"You will need to get your Queen's location out of me."

Hokaze's head fell for a half second before she balled her fist and looked up, electricity crackling around her body.

"I see, if that's how it's going to be-"

A great crash sounded as the lightning spilled out into the air around her. This was her ability going all out.

"I will not hold back."

As the lightning sunk away into the ground though, her aura calmed.

"But tell me one thing first. You were at Clone Dolly, weren't you?"

Lumen and Joule hadn't heard that term before but it sounded familiar.

"So you remember... That name?" The girl asked.

"How could I forget?"

Hokaze leaned in slightly her attention locked "I was thinking about it all this time. You clearly see me as your target and not the queen. The only common point I can think of for that is Clone Dolly. But that is all I know. Your actions baffle me. Why would you do this?"

The girl smiled.

"It's a mystery."

She threw her arms wide.

"You want to save your Queen right? Then let's get started. No one will bother us in this abandoned factory."

"Except everyone that's helping her" Lumen thought, "She's got so many people willing to come to her aid."

Regardless, the girl didn't hear her. She just looked excited and... something else.

"So... Let's fight to the death. For real- THIS TIME!"

Her hand flicked out, the laser pointer coming up. Even as a cutting beam rose from the floor, Hokaze was already moving, ducking low and charging forward.

The beam cut towards her and Hokaze raised her bag as a shield against it. The bag exploded but a metal plate was revealed inside. The laser had destroyed the bag but it just bounced off the plate.

As Hokaze got close. Lumen's eyes grew wide as she saw the girl draw something else out of her skirt.

"Hokaze, to the side!"

She dove just as a blast of light sliced the bag in in half. Even the metal plate had been unable to resist a pillar of destructive light.

Something felt familiar to Lumen though as the power-enhanced beam of light cut just a bit to the side of Junko's body's electric field.

Junko slid down to the ground, using her hands and feat to stop her sudden tumble.

"Wha-"

The girl laughed "Wonderful, neither of us can end this right away."

Lumen could now tell what it was the girl had pulled out. A large flashlight.

"This is a military flashlight." The girl explained "In terms of brightness it would be about equal to my laser pointer, but the added width makes it quite dangerous, don't you think?"

She quickly reversed her grip on the flashlight to show Hokaze the back "But... Do you know why the handle is so long?"

She spun the flashlight into a grip one may use in Kendo and a beam of light came out the end like a sword.

Ah, that was why this girl was familiar. She fought like Jota. She'd watched GV in that battle and the use of light as a weapon, a sword at that, was familiar.

"A double-edged sword." She commented.

Hokaze was careful as the girl continued to speak "I know you, you've already looked into it haven't you? My ability is Wave Manipulator! I can freely control the waves of light and sound to amplify and concentrate them!"

Ah, no.

Lumen didn't just recognise it from Jota. She recognised it as a variation on her own ability. This girl only controlled two types of waves and she couldn't interfere with them in any ways other than adding more power to them. Even then...

Could Lumen weaponise light like this? Given the right song, maybe. Light didn't come as naturally to her as sound and electricity but she could surely use one to interfere with the other. That was part of her ability after all. The ability to interfere with waves.

"You have expanded what you can do quite a bit since we where in ideal." Hokaze said, forcing calmness into her voice even as she was ready to move in an eyeblink.

The girl seemed surprised to hear the complement, even a little embarrassed.

"So, you were watching? But you always said you weren't interested in me."

She was laughing quietly as she raised the laser pointer, still in her other hand.

"I remember your power too. You have trouble with bows and swords, don't you? Take me lightly and you will die!"

The laser shot out a moment later as Hokaze spun to escape.

"Hokaze." Lumen's voice was quiet as she spoke to not attract the girl's attention, "I have an idea."

End of chapter.

I have been sick this week and I hope you are at least a little bit happy that I decided that this would be the only story I would take the effort to update through my illness.

That said, I don't know if this chapter was made any worse because of that, tell me if it is and I'll fix it when I'm healthy.
