Closing Remarks

[ACMI: The Thing You Can't Get Back]

Let it never be said that GV was heartless. Or lacking in curiosity for that matter.

After listening to the doctor's request, he nodded.

"If you tell me what this was all about."

The doctor nodded, letting out a sigh.

"I should be ablet to do that."

GV picked the scientist up and proffered a hand to the unknown girl. Carrying both of them would be hard but-

The girl stepped away, too scared of what had happened to allow him to touch her.

And then the scientist spoke.

"Please, Ayu."

The girl shuddered once again.

"What? Why?"

"Ayu." He said her name again. She slumped slightly, the mental stress of all of this weighing on her more than anything else.

Finally, GV just shook his head "I can't just carry you out of here like your friend here asked me too. That would break your arm."

Finally, with grit teeth she grabbed a hold of GV before he moved. A burst of magnatic force throwing the group out of the building safely. From there he carried the pair to a nearby park where he collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

The girl stood up, the scientist didn't. He didn't have the energy to stand anymore. The girl looked down at him, speaking with tears in her eyes. A face the demanded the truth.

"Why? I didn't ask for this! I didn't know you'd get hurt like this!"

The man sighed. It seemed he didn't blame her in any way.

"I'm fine, I don't feel pain any more after all."

"That doesn't matter!" The girl yelled.

GV was going to interupt but he felt that this was something the pair needed to say to one another.

"This was the only way it was going to happen. My body was barely holding on anymore. I'd long since hit my limit. Rampage Dress' healing doesn't work so well on organs that were lost such a long time ago. I wish it had though."

The girl just contained to cry, repeating "I don't care" and "You didn't tell me."

The scientist then looked over at GV.

"I'm sorry. I don't think I'd have as much time as you'd like to explain what happened."

"You're dying then, tonight?" GV asked for clarification.

The scientist closed his eyes "Yes, it was going to happen anyway. That stab wound wasn't what killed me. I was already long dead. Don't feel guilty."

...

GV had killed before, he'd likely killed more than these two ever had and yet-

"This wasn't a story of revenge." The scientist explained "It was simply an attempt to complete an experiment. We wanted to see if it could have really worked or if we were always doomed to fail."

They had failed then, and all of this was to see if it was their fault or not?

"Do you have an answer then?"

The scientist's eyes shifted.

"Well, what do you think?"

The girl was still crying she shook her head. No answer had been found. Not one that satisfied her, at least.

GV sighed.

"Well then. Is there anything else I should know?"

The scientist shook his head weakly "No, everything will be resolving itself now. This experiment is over."

Turning away from the two of them, GV asked one more thing.

"If you don't mind, what are your names?"

"I am Houjou Seigo." The man breathed out "She is Mitsuari Ayu."

GV just nodded.

"Farewell then, Houjou. Mitsuari. Goodnight."

He walked away from the pair. Whatever came next was between them.

As he walked, he heard murmurs from where they still were.

Mitsuari yelling "I do know it!"

Her voice remained raised for as long as he could hear it.

Night had fallen by the time he found Joule and her friends back at Clone Dolly.

"You?" Hokaze blinked "You're okay? When we couldn't find either of you..."

"I never doubted." Joule admitted. Of course she wouldn't.

GV shook his head "I just needed to clean up the last part of all if this, is she safe?"

"Safe and sound!"

The girl, the one that had been refered to as the ghost girl, now existed in a fully physical body. She sat in a wheelchair that Shirai was wheeling out of the building. Yuuri Senya, the girl that had been at the center of all of those experiments.

"Then shall we all go home?" GV suggested "I think this little outing is over."

Shirai shook her head, a monocle over her eye glinting slightly "We should catch the culprits first."

"They're long gone." GV lied. Shokuhou glanced at him as he spoke but he looked her in the eye.

The telepath shrugged "We have a little more to do, but the rest of you can feel free to leave now."

GV and Joule headed off at last, they took the walk home under the moonlight.

All told? This had ended better than some of GV's past missions.

At home they checked in with Saten and Uiharu and had a late dinner.

That was how the 29th ended.

The 30th would dawn a whole new adventure.

End of chapter.

So, there's astral buddy.

I got a review about how GV shouldn't have replaced Sogiita's role and I want to explain my reasoning to everyone: If Sogiita had been there, then there would have been no point for GV to be there. Either GV or Joule had to be there or else we wouldn't really get the arc's resolution.

Anyway, on to other things. The timeline of the poker cards is a bit all over the place. To say what my plan is right now the next few arcs will be Academy City Invasion Yumiya Rakko events/Precognition mini-arc at the same time Bust Upper Battle Royale Kuriba Ryouko Arc

I hope you're looking forward to all of that. Knowing my writing pace, It'll be done around christmas.

I really hope that turns out to be a joke though.
